OH, SHOULD MY PEOPLE FALL THEN SURELY I'LL DO THE SAME ❝ Today's mission was incredibly simple. Perhaps so much so, that it couldn't even quite be considered a mission in the eyes of the many shinobi who'd so quickly glanced over it in favor of more 'exciting' missions. Whatever that meant. She didn't believe there was more glory to behold in missions that guaranteed blood shed. Nor was there any point in bragging over battle scars that had surely been earned through idiocy before bravery. Today's mission was no less important, and perhaps it was even more important. Mei had not been told of the contents in the package she was to receive from a Kiri Jounin at the gates. And that could only mean it was important. Top secret. And worth protecting. Mei was more than punctual, arriving twenty minutes earlier than the scheduled meeting time. She refused to allow the guest to arrive before her. How embarrassing would that be? It was rude to make your guests wait. But more importantly, it was dangerous. That was time a foreign shinobi was allowed to spend at the entrance to their village, perhaps spying. Time he could spend checking the contents of the package. Not a chance, she glared at one of the gates, as though it were plotting some great evil. Just on time. Her head turned at the sound of footsteps, and she moved from her spot leaning against a tree to the entrance to Kumogakure. There stood a man with hair the color of snow, and Mei had to remind herself that staring was rude. "Good afternoon, my name is Mei Tachibana. I am a Jounin of Kumogakure, and I've been told you bring with you an important package for the Raikage himself. Can you confirm this?" she asked, taking in every detail about him. White hair. Average height. Perhaps a tad bit younger than her... awfully attractive. And she was back to her flat expression and glare in an instant. Willing the impure thought to fade and restoring her composure. Mei, take notice of his weapons, his build, where his gaze...god damnit. She needed to get away from this guy, and the sooner the better. "Ah, just to clarify. This is just an exchange, correct? You'll be leaving afterwards, yes?" she asked, contemplating falling on her own blades right at that moment. tags: Kurayami MADE BY MINNIE OF FTS & GS

It was a long Journey, from Kirigakure to Kumogakure. Kazu had been designated as the one to deliver this package to the village of Kumogakure, hidden in the clouds within a range of incredibly tall mountains. It was a sight to behold, and a trip to remember. Kazu had never been out this way before. Not this far, anyways. There had been times where he wondered if he should have just kept on going, just to see if the tales were true. To see what Kumogakure was really like. But instead, Kazu stuck to the plan, completing the mission at hand.
In certain areas, the clouds made it incredibly difficult to see his way around. During the trip, Kazu often found himself wondering if he had gotten lost and taken a wrong turn somewhere. There were no signs, or markers of any sort indicating that he was still on the right track. He could only rely on his own intuition, which was a reliable source for Kazu the vast majority of the time.
In the distance, the gate became clear to Kazu. He let out a light sigh of relief, knowing that he had made it on time. This was not a meeting Kazu wanted to screw up. It was detrimental that if the Raikage was to meet him personally, then he make a good impression. If things went as well as he hoped, then maybe, just maybe, The Raikage would consider an alliance with Kirigakure. In times like these, allies were important.
Kazu's snow-white hair rustled in the breeze flowing between the mountains. The air felt thin, and Kazu found it difficult to breathe. It was much cooler this high off the surface of the Earth. But the cold didn't bother Kazu one bit. He thrived off the cold, with his icy chakra nature. Another small breeze blew in, rustling his hair once more as he approached the final steps of the journey. Kazu noticed a woman, leaning up against the tree. Once she had taken notice to him, she had moved from her spot.
Who is this woman? Where is the Raikage?
Kazu approached the woman. She stood about two inches shorter than he did, with long, navy blue hair extending from her head and down her back. He came to a stop, bowing to her as she greeted him. It was common courtesy to bow to those greeting you. But as he stood tall once more, he noticed her staring at him. Or rather, it seemed like more of a glare. Kazu was astounded. The nerve! This woman had the audacity to glare?! At him?! it was unbelievable! Kazu's facial expression transformed to that of one that resembled disgust. The woman had already introduced herself as Mei. Though, her next statement threw Kazu off once more. Kazu couldn't handle it anymore. The disrespect coming from this woman.
"Leaving?" Kazu asked, appalled by the disrespect this woman was showing him. "I'd love to leave. Another minute listening to you is going to make me ill. I was under the impression that I'd be meeting the Raikage in person. Would you be so kind as to take me to him? My name is Kazu, and I come from Kirigakure."
Kazu's words left the tip of his tongue with great frustration. A small weight had been lifted, as though he had been bottling those words inside for ages.

OH, SHOULD MY PEOPLE FALL THEN SURELY I'LL DO THE SAME ❝ This meeting had gone sour even faster than she'd thought. And with every awful word his tongue uttered further, she contemplated cutting it out. Wouldn't that be a sight to behold. I can't believe I let myself be enamored, even for a second with such an ass. she thought, her amber eyes narrowing into an actual glare. "You seem to think rather highly of yourself," she scoffed, gving him a quick look over as though there was absolutely nothing to be impressed about. Good looks could never mask a foul personality. "The likes of you would never be allowed a meeting with the Raikage so easily." she wrinkled her nose in disgust, heaving an angry sigh.
"Now," she started, maintaining a cap on her composure, at least for the moment. But like always, her eyes betrayed her. Glaring daggers into an icy glare that challenged her own. And that only pissed her off. "If you're quite done with your temper tantrum, I'll take the package now." she said flatly, as though chiding an annoying child. Her left hand reaching out, palm stretched and waiting for the package she'd been promised. That is, if he'd even brought it. No where in his introduction had he specified that he'd even brought it with him. Though with his ill manners, she wouldn't be surprised if he'd marched all this way just to bicker with the Raikage. The nerve! Why, she ought to take his head now for daring to take even a step into their territory and be so rude! "You didn't forget it, did you?" she said, running out of patience for the white haired man who stood before her. Shaking her head. "And I will note your lovely attitude in my report to Raikage-sama. I expected more from a shinobi of Kirigakure. Perhaps that was foolish of me."

Quite a sassy woman this Mei turned out to be. Kazu would have never expected such a mouthy reaction from such a beautiful woman. There was something about this woman that caught Kazu's attention. He couldn't pin point what that was exactly. He ran it through his mind, intrigued. She was so beautiful. so elegant. Kazu's eyes examined Mei as she spoke. Yet, something about her irked him. Something inside of him began to squirm. This feeling he had only experienced a handful of times. This woman seemed legitimately offended by his remarks. And it brought a feeling of enjoyment to Kazu. He couldn't help but smirk as she ripped into him so passive-aggressively.
I'm going to have some fun with this woman.
Kazu continued to observe Mei as she spoke, attempting to offend in defense of herself. Kazu could only speculate that this woman had something to prove. Something to prove, or not, Kazu was going to push her buttons. He was going to have a little fun with her. Irritate her as much as he could. He was only interested in the strong. Not somebody who could easily be irritated. Kazu smiled the entire time she spoke. A large grin.
"If you're done whining, I'll speak now." Kazu responded, his smile vanishing. "I do think highly of myself. Very highly. As any strong and confident shinobi should."
Kazu shifted slightly in his position, still standing in front of Mei. The woman hadn't let him beyond the gate, and it was clear that she wasn't going to now. That was fine. Kazu didn't necessarily need to enter the village to complete his task. If the Raikage had sent somebody to retrieve the package from the gate, it meant he wasn't willing to trust a shinobi from another village in the first place. All possibilities of an alliance disappeared because of that fact.
"It appears as though you have something to prove." Kazu spoke up, shooting his words directly at Mei. "I wonder what was going through the Raikage's head when he decided to send you to meet me. He clearly was not in the right set of mind."
With those words, another shot was fired. As those words left Kazu's tongue, a sensation shot through his body. Kazu was not one for childish games, but irritating this woman brought so much pleasure to him. He simply loved it.
"And to answer your question, yes, I brought the package." Kazu spoke as he removed a small package from a pouch hanging from his waist. He held the package out in front of him, waiting for Mei to grab it from him. "Not everybody is as incompetent as you are."

OH, SHOULD MY PEOPLE FALL THEN SURELY I'LL DO THE SAME ❝ That damn smirk of his. Had they been on better terms, she might have found it attractive. But now? She wanted to rip that smug smirk right from his face. She'd been very clear, despite masking her anger behind pleasantries, that she disliked him. And yet he was still smirking as though he'd won a fight that had only just begun. You have no idea what you've gotten yourself into, foreigner. She thought, her eyes narrowing in a vicious glare at his grin. He was grinning now. And if he'd done it to get a rise out of her, she was ashamed to admit just how well it was working. There was something about his fox-like face that shattered any fabric of composure she'd been hiding behind. Her iron-built facade had crumbled within minutes of their meeting, and that only left her frustrated. All the while he appeared to be having fun. Frustratingly enough, she couldn't quite argue with his comment. As he was a Jounin, and that stood for something. Presuming the Mizukage wasn't just handing out promotions nowadays. Albeit of all the villages to expect that of, one would expect it from Kirigakure. A village that had yet to shake it's awful history. "That is fine," she began, a soft sigh escaping from her lips as though they'd been arguing tirelessly for hours now. "However, a wise shinobi would know his place and rank. And that one is not met by his superior simply because he assumes he deserves it." she frowned, still rather irked by how readily he'd assumed the Raikage would grace him with his presence. He was a busy man after all. This was why he had subordinates; to attend to matters outside his desk. A mere B-Rank mission such as this wasn't worth her Kage's time. As his body shifted, her foot pivoted and she shifted her weight ever so slightly. Her amber eyes reanalyzing his entire stance, already planning how she'd sever his head from his body if he dared try to move past her. "I wonder what was going through the Raikage's head when he decided to send you to meet me. He clearly was not in the right set of mind."
Ah, now he'd hit a nerve. "Excuse me?" she said, her hand falling to grasp the hilt of one of her blades. Her fingers tracing the small indents in the hilt that informed her she was indeed holding Shi, the blade of death. She always carried two chokuto with her: Seikatsu and Shi, life and death. And only one blade had ever tasted blood. It was something she was oddly particular about. Always keeping Seikatsu as a blade that protected life, while Shi was the chokuto of judgement, a harbinger of death. It was something the 'Black Panther' had grown rather infamous for, and it only further proved how meticulous her personality was. "I'm sure Raikage-sama was thinking about the mountain of work he has. The many lives he must micromanage. And how little time he has to speak with ill mannered foreigners and retrieve a package." she hissed, her thumb tracing the hilt of Shi like an itchy trigger finger, waiting to push the blade out ever so slightly in a satisfying click. But he pulled back just in time, holding the package out to her outstretched hand, though childishly out of reach. Easing her hand off the hilt of Shi, she snatched the package away from Kazu with both hands. Careful not to disturb its contents as she checked the seals for any signs of being tampered with. She didn't trust the fox in front of her, not. one. bit. "Well," she said, seemingly satisfied with the condition of the package. "You've done your duty, so hurry up and get out of my sight." she glared, holding the package protectively with both hands. She had no intention of moving from her spot until he was far from sight. Yet another reaction that had made Kazu feel so warm and fuzzy. Butterflies danced within his belly as he grew more and more delighted with this intriguing woman's reactions to his poking and prodding. Kazu began to grin once more, displaying his satisfaction with the angry Mei. Kazu listened intently as Mei went off on him. Preaching about ranks, and how one was never simply met by the leader just because he felt he deserved it. Kazu completely agreed with this statement. Though, he'd never show it.
"Then what makes you think you deserve to be met by me?" Another shot had been fired. Like a canon ball, these words left his mouth with force. It wasn't as though Kazu thought himself better than this woman. He said this as another way to irritate her. It was clear to him that statements such as this bothered her. Kazu wanted to get as much of a rise from her before he left.
"So, the Raikage actually does something?" Kazu stated, grinning as the words left his tongue. "Funny. Because when I look around this village, it appears to me as though he's left much unattended."
The woman had finally released her grip from her sword. She had reached for the package that Kazu had held in his hand, and snatched it from him. She was furious now. Kazu could feel the frustration emanating from her. This brought such joy to Kazu's bored soul. There wasn't much that interested him these days. This was the most fun he could muster up in ages.
"Indeed." he responded. "Then I shall take my leave from this eyesore of a village. May we meet again... Mei was it?" Kazu hadn't actually forgotten her name already. But he couldn't resist one last shot.
Kazu threw down a smoke bomb, and disappeared into a cloud of smoke. Once the smoke had cleared, it would be revealed that he was no longer standing there. He was gone, with no trace. Back to Kirigakure he went, in order to report his success to the Mizukage. But Kazu could only wonder one thing as his long return trip proceeded.
I wonder how much happier those powerful looking blades would be at my side rather than hers.
