Those Darn Cats (Mission/Suzune)
|
Post by Jiyuu Tsubasa on Jun 27, 2014 23:18:43 GMT -7
On this particular morning, Jiyuu managed to pick up a mission from the Hokage estate the day before. It was first come, first serve for this D-ranked mission and thankfully Jiyuu was first there at the time, doing an errand for the Clan. All that’s said he had to work with some Genin at the third training ground to retrieve some run of the mill cats. To Jiyuu, he figured this mission would be a walk in the park and maybe bolster his mission completion record. Granted, he did wonder why it must take a team of Genin to capture some simple cats but the young quickly brushed that aside; this was surely a mission for fresh Genin from the Academy or so he thought.
Having arrived at his destination, the young orange head took a quick glance at his surroundings. There were trees and grass plains for as far as the eyes can see and yet no remote tracks Jiyuu can find from those cats. Sighed in disappoint, Jiyuu decided wait in place in case any other Genin arrive for the mission. Was this the fastest choice of getting things done for the mission? No; but, it would give other people a chance to take of getting the prize money for the mission. The real question is, who else was coming down to catch some felines.
Before he could amuse to the thought, Jiyuu yawned for a moment or two. He then decided to start stretching his body out from his neck to feet. Because, who knows, maybe those felines will give him a nice warm up session for some good exercise. Now that his body is a little less distracting, Jiyuu wondered who else was going to show. He thought that maybe it’s someone he knows or another chance for a first impression.
“Well, here’s to a successful mission, probably,” he said snidely in making a self-noting toast for today’s mission.
However, in both departments, lady luck never did really smile on him, not once. WORDS 347 TAGS Suzune OdaNOTES Yeah, fuuuun times ahead, YUP! LOLNO |

LEND ME YOUR HAND AND WE'LL CONQUER THEM ALL ❝ Standing in front of the shrine on Oda land, the brunette bowed her head in respect, clapping her hands together, eyes closed as she said a silent goodbye to Amaterasu. She'd just finished her morning routine; a thorough clean of the shrine, both inside and out, lighting of incense and the offering of food and prayer. It was a ritualistic routine she'd performed faithfully everyday once she was old enough to understand it all. And she'd been the only one to do it since then. As the Oda clan only entrusted shrine duties to the leading family of the main branch, whom had only one child: Suzune. The heiress never complained that her fate as an only child meant a three hour morning ritual at the crack of dawn. In fact, she seemed to embrace it all to eagerly. Greeting the morning with a smile each day.
"I'm off!" she called out, swinging the large mallet she used as a weapon over her head and sliding it into the holster on her back. The heavy, mallet-shaped end of the hammer pointed downwards, and the length of the handle crossing her back diagonally to peek just above her right shoulder. Waving goodbye to her mother, the only other soul that seemed to be awake at this hour, she ran off. Headed for the Third Training Ground for a mission with another Genin.
Halfway there, she stopped by a meat market near the residential district in Konoha. It was one of the few places open at this time, and she had a little bit of time to spare before the mission was to start. Besides, cats were carnivores, and she'd missed breakfast. Walking about the shop, she eventually settled on three skewers of chicken yakitori. "Oiiii~" she called the butcher over to the front counter, one hand holding her food and the other a fistful of Ryo. "Just those for ya?" the man asked through a yawn, and Suzune nodded, handing the correct amount of Ryo over. The moment the transaction had been made, she shoved one of the skewers in her mouth hungrily, running out the door.
"Sorry, I'm late!" a loud voice called from above as Suzune jumped from a nearby tree, her feet connecting with the hard ground of the field shortly after. Just a few feet in front of her was a tall young man, and her gaze slowly trailed upward. "Ah," she breathed, a half eaten skewer of chicken yakitori still held between her teeth. A dangerous choking hazard she seemed to be ignoring. "It's just you, spikey." she said, finally addressing the orange-haired boy she recognized as her teammate: Jiyuu.
"Just us?" she frowned, looking around and finding no sign of other Genin. Five cats versus two Genin. And Jiyuu was an oaf, so he counted for about half a person. "Whoever gets three out of five is treated to lunch!" she grinned, two skewers of chicken held carefully in one hand while the other readied a cage for a cat. Once it was ready she handed Ji a skewer, leaving them each with one. It was only fair, after all. And challenge or not, they actually needed to complete the mission. But just how hard could catching a few cats be?
"Mrrrreow~" she heard a feline call out from a nearby bush, a second cat responding with a coo of his own. And with a skewer in her mouth, one in hand, and a cage in the other, she was off. Using her Shunshin no Jutsu to appear in the tree above the two cats, her eyes locked on her prey. "Hey pretty kitty~" she called, jumping down and landing as softly as she could so as not to spook them. The skewer of chicken was enough to coax one hungry cat into the cage, but the other refused to come so easily, knicking Suzune's hand with his claws several times before darting off.
"AHHHHH. BAD KITTY."

| Lady Luck flipped her coin of fate up in the air, determining the young man’s promise of a hopeful day. Unfortunately, for him, that very coin is wrong in Jiyuu’s favor. The reason for that is quite simple, unwanted company. When the ringing of a young girl’s voice passed through his ears, he could have sworn it was familiar, almost too familiar. Of course for him, he wouldn't have known until it was a second too late. “No worries, just on time,” he said in remark for the mysterious girl’s apology to her tardiness. But when he turned his gaze toward the voice, it welcomed the sight of one of Jiyuu’s ‘favorite people, Suzune Oda. What light of hope in his gaze, quickly turned to disdain upon realizing he has to be teamed with ‘her’. And almost in synchronization, he matched his unique greeting as she did to him. “Ah,” he breathed for a moment, in-taking the slow burn on how funny life can be. “It’s just you, hammer girl,” speaking his trademark name toward the brown haired teammate of his. Almost immediately how he wished things could be different, why would he have to team up with one of the most combative people he’s ever known? Now, Jiyuu has a new goal: Instead of waiting for other people to arrive, get this mission done so wouldn't be around this spoiled princess anymore. He set forth in his new agenda by nodding to the obvious question, delivered by that hammer girl. “Looks like it,” he said in the most neutral of tones, almost as if accepting nothing good will happen today anyways. But a twist of fate, if you will, happened only a second later. That hammer proposed a challenge on who gets the most cats, and the winner gets lunch. A chance to put down his smug attitude ‘and’ get a free meal out of it? How can Jiyuu ever resist that little proposal. “You’re on!” he said with a smirk. Watching her make her first move and hearing her cries of terror, Jiyuu simply chuckled to himself. Because now, all he has to do is clean up her mess and to get the prize of whatever is in front of that hammer girl’s face. Shunshin himself forward toward the cries, tracing his pace all the way to where he can see that hammer girl in his sights. “How about I show you, how it’s done!” A bold claim and willing to give just enough proof to back it up. Clawing his way to scoop up one cat in the middle of that hammer’s self-made chaos, he managed to snag at least one cat. Of course, he had sights on the next one, “That makes one!” He was about to take charge to forward the next cat- but the cat in his possession sudden vanished without a trace! Shocked and widen eyed, almost saw ghost when that cat disappeared the way it did. “Wait, did that cat just use-,” before he could even finish his thought, he felt something amiss-a cat was in his shirt. And that cat didn't do nothing either, the cat clawed and scratched inside of Jiyuu’s shirt. Not only that, the other cat pounced his cat for a two-pronged attack. Needless to say, he was in for a world of hurt, “FFFFFFFFFFFF-ARGHHH!!”all this time i was searching for the rain |

LEND ME YOUR HAND AND WE'LL CONQUER THEM ALL ❝ Just as she'd anticipated, Jiyuu was quick to accept her challenge. Jumping into the bushes with her and oh-so confidently swooping down to grab one of the cats. One for one, she nodded to herself. She needed to keep up! But just as she stood, ready to use a quick Shunshin no Jutsu to catch up to an escaping cat, Jiyuu started screaming. She whirled around to face him, one brow raised as she watched a bulge in his shirt move about. "W-What?!" she yelled, taking a few steps towards him, hand outreached and waiting for an opportunity to peel the angry cat off his chest. Which was easier said than done, unfortunately. Just as she thought she had him, the cat disappeared from under his shirt. "No way!" she yelled, watching the cat reappear next to a nearby tree. But...why was he sideways?
"Oof!" she yelled, not realizing that she'd lost her balance until her face had already collided with Jiyuu's chest. Her arms still reaching out, sending both straight to the ground. Ji took the brunt of the fall, with Suzune falling on top of him. "Ow..." she groaned, slowly lifting her head from his chest and staring down at him. Her face instantly turned a deep shade of crimson, and she looked awfully panicked. "I-I-IDIOT!" she yelled, hitting his chest hard before jumping back up and darting away from him. All too eager to continue pursuing these darn cats.
"Y'know," she yelled from a distance, jumping in and out of trees as she swiped at the cat that just moments earlier had attacked Ji. "They neglected to mention that these weren't normal cats!" she said, nearly face planting into the trunk of a tree as the cat landed on it, darting out of her reach at the last second.
"ENOUGH." she yelled, yanking her hammer off her back. "Kyōka: Subarashi Hanmā!" she said, watching as the handle of her hammer extended, and the mallet-like head grew until it rivaled the size of a tree. With a monstrous strength one wouldn't expect of such a small girl, she placed most of her weight into one leg, and swinging the hammer back, she brought it through several of the trees in her path. Preventing the cat from continuing their game of weaving in and out of the trees. And providing a more open area with which they could continue their game of tag.
"You're mine!" she yelled, cutting off her flow of chakra to her hammer, causing it to revert to it's miniature size as she sprung forward, throwing herself on top of the startled cat. Which, as one might guess, was a horrible idea. Though she had a firm, hug-like hold on him, she couldn't restrain his paws. And the frightened cat took several swipes at her front and face. Some missed, but some didn't. Leaving her with several painful micro cuts.
