OUT OF CHARACTER! Unison Sign is officially open! We've completely overhauled the site giving it a new look, new backstory, and new role playing system. We're still rolling out information posts and making changes to the board but feel free to get started on your characters and jump into the role play whenever you're ready. Make sure you are familiar with all of our new threads before you do though!
IN CHARACTER With the release of the bijuu and chakra reappearing in humans, the world has become incredibly unstable. To protect themselves from discrimination and prepare for the trials ahead clans of shinobi have started to gather together to form villages. Two villages already exist and this has put pressure on other clans to start to come together under their own banners. Will you help create these villages or do everything you can to stop them?

{Spoiler}Mission Name: Trouble in Wind Country Mission Rank: A Suggested Shinobi: C - S rank shinobi Location: Wind Country OOC Information: There are three (3) rogue shinobi [2 B, 1 A] scoping out the lands surrounding Sunagakure. The mission is to discover who they are, what they want, and to eliminate or capture the vagabonds. Mission Description: Word has reached Sunagakure that a strange grouping of men are roaming the areas south of the village seeking information pertaining to operations of the village. These rogues are not above violence as there have been numerous reports of them brutalizing small establishments throughout the Wind Country. Intercept them, find out who they are, what they want, and take them out or capture them. Objective: Intercept the group, discover their intentions, and eliminate them. Payout: 1,000 Ryo. Additional Rewards: N/A
T’was just another day in the life of a shinobi.
Crimson scarlet tresses trailed me, the bloodied lion’s mane perched atop my crown fluttered by the surrounding breeze. It followed me like a shadow. First from home, to the Kage tower, to surrounding shops, then to the gates of the village. I moved at a casual pace, steady, one foot in front of the other.
There had been reports of a strange grouping of men terrorizing the surrounding lands seeking information about Sunagakure. Under normal circumstances such a thing would’ve been fine, except these individuals weren’t above violence and death. They had no problem killing for what they wanted and using fear as a tool. Many of the denizens of the wind had very little, if any combat experience. They had no way to defend themselves. With no battle tactics, how else could you save yourself or family from being murdered? Tortured? Raped? The answer was simple enough—you told them what they wanted to hear.
Operating under this assumption, time was of the essence. Assuming they had already attained the information they were looking for, we needed to move. I’d sent Obelisk out with notes to the other members of the squad put together for this mission to meet me at the gates around 5:45pm. The plan was to head out a little after six. That would give us a couple hours of daytime to begin the search before the night descended, where I assumed they would be the most active. And we were shinobi.. it was best we moved under the pretense of darkness. One well-coordinated surprise attack from the shadows could end this mission quicker than it started.
My normal attire (main image) was shrouded under that of an ebony cloak, effectively hiding the tools of my craft. I walked slow enough as to not be the first to arrive at the gates, or at least that was my goal.
I arrived at about 5:54pm, and awaited both Obelisk and the team.

D emiyah stared up at the clear sky of Sunagakure. There wasn't a single cloud in sight, as usual, and there wasn't even a breeze to be felt. This was going to be one of those staggeringly hot days that just made everyone feel sluggish. Yet, life had to go on. People couldn't stop to wait for the heat to dissipate, so they kept working. The world kept spinning. The Kazekage positioned her quiver and bow on her back as she walked, staring ahead. Her assistant and a few of the village's ANBU followed after, sounding incredulous that she'd even think of going on a mission with someone they hadn't cleared first. She was good at ignoring the ANBU, though, her gaze settling on her assistant as he handed her a few scrolls to sign before she left. Her feet kept moving, refusing to stop just to sign scrolls, so she did it as she walked. When the ANBU walking behind her got too annoying, she turned on her heel, planted her feet firmly on the ground, and crossed her arms over her chest. "I get it. You don't like that I'm going out. Well, guess what? You'll have to deal with it, won't you? You're dismissed. All of you," she said pointedly, giving an apologetic look toward her assistant who, having gotten the last signatures that he'd needed, bowed and started back toward the Kage's tower. The ANBU all hesitated, standing and staring at Demiyah through the eye-holes in their masks. "I said you were dismissed," she snapped, waiting as they all retreated back toward their respective posts. With the ANBU out of the way, she finally continued on her way to the gate, sighing heavily, her eyes closed as she walked. "When did I get stuck with such stuffy shinobi, huh?" she muttered to herself, running her hands up into her long, red hair, slowly pulling it up into a long ponytail. The mission was a simple scout, examine, and eliminate mission. It's not like she was going to end up dead. She was a lot tougher than they gave her credit for. She'd already said goodbye to her sister and her father, and Tetsu was going on this mission with her and Kouketsu. Demiyah was just going to leave this one to her shinobi, but one of them dropped out at the very last moment, forcing Demiyah's hand and her need for adventure. The young Kazekage finally reached the gate, the heat hardly phasing her at this point. She'd packed at least two canteens with water, so she was well prepared. Spotting Kouketsu and Obelisk, she started toward her favored jounin, coming to stand in front of him. "One of your team members for this mission dropped out at the last minute, so you get to go with my. My cousin should be here soon enough," she said in greeting, looking up at Obelisk. "Every time I see you, I swear you've gotten bigger," she said lightheartedly and rather affectionately toward the bird. Birds were her favorite animal after all, next to her little tiger, Rangi.

(gonna post and move it along. Let's try and finish this quickly so we can triplez our money. 24 hours is enough or...?)
It wasn't long before the first of the other two would arrive; to my surprise, however, it wasn't who I was expecting. Twin oculi peered forth as the Kazekage approached, her hair colored the same bloody scarlet as my own. It was a shock to see her and I wondered why she had come. Was the mission canceled? Was there another, more urgent matter that needed be handled? Or was she simply here to wish her shinobi good luck on their mission? My answer would come soon as she was upon me, greeting Obelisk and explaining the situation. I listened sternly as she spoke, informing me of the mission dropout and how she would be attending in his stead.
"Ahh, greetings, Demiyah-sama. With you coming along, this mission will be a piece of cake", I cooed, offering a whole-hearted smile to complete the greeting. With her coming along, I wouldn't need to do nearly as much and her expertise was second to none. She was the Kage after all, the leader of the village-- though young, her knowledge of the world was enough for her to become the leader of her own village. Highly capable and highly skilled, she could operate on her own if we needed to split up-- furthermore... I trusted her.
Obelisk also seemed to take a liking to the red-haired kunoichi. He showed no hesitation in playing with her.
"Your cousin, eh?", I intrigued. "Hopefully, she gets here soon."
I was rather anxious to find these rogue shinobi; not only had they been a threat to the Sand, but I very much so wanted to do battle with another ninja. Spars and training we're ways - sure - but it was unlike real battle, in the field where your life was on the line. I just wanted to test my prowess. My skills had made me a jounin at age 17, but that was just of Suna's standards. I wanted to see where I measured up with the rest of the world. On top of that, the sun would be setting in a few hours.
I was a patient man though, and would spend the remainder of the time waiting for Tetsu probing the Kazekage's brain; surely, she could teach me something about being a true shinobi.
"How do you think we should go about ths mission Kazekage-sama?", I asked, words laced with the curiosity of a young shinibi. It went without saying that our thoughts were different from one another, but one who could understand perspectives from all angles was a fate changing ally, or a deadly adversary.

( So, Fumiko dropped Tetsu as a character. Thus, we're pretending that he never existed. :3 So any mention of Tetsu will be ignored, though Demiyah still has a cousin that will be coming around soon enough. Not in this mission, however. ) Please. Demiyah smiled politely at Kouketsu, giving a slow nod in acknowledgement. "I hope so, unless my cousin was held up for some reason or another. Then we'll just have to go by ourselves. I'm pretty sure you and I can handle them on our own, anyway," she said, rolling her shoulders back. While she waited, she sneaked over to Obelisk, rubbing his large beak affectionately. "You're such a beautiful boy," she said with an affectionate chuckle, stroking his feathers with a smile. Her attention was caught by one of the Sunagakure hawks flying above their heads. She stepped back slightly, shielding her eyes from the bright sun, holding her arm out for the hawk to land. It landed with grace and Demiyah removed the message that was there. She opened it promptly and read through it.
"Well, it looks like he won't be coming after all. He was held up at the hospital, it seems," she said with a small smile. "Oh well. That's the busy life of a medical ninja after all," she said with a nod. "Alright then. Just you, Obelisk, and I," she said with a small huff, pressing her hands to her hips as she stared at the sky. "It's perfect weather, so we don't have to worry about any sand storms. We'll take out the targets as gracefully as we can and then we'll head back here," she noted, ensuring that her bow and her quiver were placed correctly on her back. She seemed to be in a bit of a happy mood today, but that would likely change once they got out into the field. Killing wasn't her favorite thing to do, after all. She was sure that this mission would entail her having to do just that. Killing.
Pushing the thought away, she straightened up, her expression turning to its normal steeled and prepared look. "Well, let's hope you brought an ample supply of water. We're running," she said with a smirk, starting to back up toward the gate of Sunagakure. "At least once we get out of the tunnel we will be running," she noted over she shoulder, motioning for him to follow along with her. Once they'd made it through the dark tunnel from the village into the desert, Demiyah observed their surroundings. She'd always been the careful type that never ran into anything without thinking it completely through, after all. It only took her a few moments to deem the desert safe. She gave one last glance back toward Kouketsu, "Ready, Kouketsu? You take the lead on this one."
