Short ways from the main gate of Konoha, a lone figure was slowly shuffling along a thin forest trail. The sun couldn’t quite shine through the lush trees, leaving plentiful shade. Only an occasional gust rustled the leaves to break the eerie silence. Wading through some thick bushes, the figure arrived to a small clearing and the sunshine revealed the nervous features of a little boy. He was clutching onto an oddly-shaped brown package and glancing around constantly, as if looking for something. Or someone. After a brief moment of fruitless searching, the boy sighed and turned around... Only to jump back from a sudden shout.
"Hiya, kiddo!"
Right before him stood a blonde woman in a dark jump suit, with her eyes closed and mouth twisted into a seemingly permanent smile. There hadn’t been any sound or other sensation from her arrival, like she had just appeared from thin air. Perhaps she had... She leaned closer and held her hand out expectantly. "Sooo... Did you get the stuff?" The boy didn’t say a word and just handed over the package. It was impossible to say what was inside it by the shape alone. The brown paper could’ve hidden weapons, secret documents or even some sort of loot. Only the smiling woman, the notorious trickster known to some as Hara Kin, knew the truth.
The Kitsune opened the package just enough to quickly peek at the contents and an unusually dark snicker escaped her lips. "Mufufufu~ Yes, these are the real deal. You’ve done well, kiddo." She dug out few coins from her pocket and handed them to the boy. However, just then her smile vanished and eyes opened, golden pupils gleaming dangerously. Even her tone turned threatening. "And if anyone asks, even if it’s the Hokage himself, this meeting never happened. Understood?" After the scared kid got over his shock enough to nod quickly, the woman regained her smirk and friendly tone. "Good. Run along now~" The boy didn’t need to be told twice and dashed away into the forest shade.
Watching the vanish into the bushes, Hara straightened her back and glanced around suspiciously, before deciding to take another peek at her mysterious package. She still couldn’t quite believe things had gone so smoothly. The paper rustled between her fingers as she carefully peeled the layers. Checking once more couldn’t hurt. Just a tiny peek... It wasn’t like anyone was watching...
Right?

Now that he was more or less on the run, Tatsu could not afford to be in one place for too long. He didn't exactly blend well enough in a crowd as a shinobi should and as much as he missed Kumo and its ever fearless leader, he wasn't really looking forward to the dark spaces of his cell. So he had to keep moving. But it wasn't all bad really. Traveling enabled Tatsu to rediscover the world and the changes it had gone through since his imprisonment. Not a lot has changed, but strange things do come across his path every so often, and that is what makes wandering about so exciting. One can never know what the unexpected will bring. In today's case, Tatsu felt like pushing his luck a little more than usual. While ambling about close to a well fortified village on alert for missing shinobi like himself may be foolish to some of his peers, he enjoyed the thrill it gave him. Like a fox, wanting to be chased by the hounds, he stalked the shadows and tested fate with an iron poker. And color him absolutely curious when his trek fell upon a most peculiar exchange between a Konoha shinobi and a small boy. Anyone with eyes could see something suspicious was happening, and Tatsu kept to his place within the trees, watching with a curious tilt of his head. Now that doesn't look like trouble at all, he chortled to himself, the branch under his feet groaning ever so quietly where he knelled for a better angle. A few words that could only be directions and threat were exchanged, and it did nothing but add to the unusual air of what might be happening here. With the boy taking his leave, the woman glanced about as if worried she might be caught-- but she already is, isn't she?-- before taking another peek at her package. "Well, that didn't look suspicious at all," he snorted sarcastically, dropping from his place in the trees to settle into his new position on the path. Folding his hands within his colorful sleeves, Tatsu gave his customary trademark grin, the corners of his lips curling up toward his eyes. "What would a Konoha nin be doing way out here all by her lonesome, hm? Didn't your sensei teach you to always walk in pairs?"MARI @ GS!

Upon hearing someone speak up, Hara twitched and twirled around. She hid the package behind her back for the lack of better place. Her deft fingers were already busy gathering the paper together to hide the contents of the package. Beneath the innocent smile, the trickster cursed her impatience stealing all her attention. Otherwise she would’ve most likely noticed this person approaching. How much had he seen anyway? That was something she needed to figure out before dealing with him. Then there was another small matter... Though she didn’t know the stranger, there was something familiar about him. It felt like she had seen that face in somewhere before... Or maybe she was just imagining things.
Wouldn’t be the first time.
Either way, the Kitsune had no intentions to reveal the truth. Instead, she played dumb, quite convincingly too in her opinion. With slow, relaxed movements, she glanced around as the big realization finally reached her. "Ah, it’s true. I was so lost in thought I somehow got separated from my sensei. The forest is just so pretty, you know..." To further drive in the embarrassed airhead impression, she scratched the back of her head and let out a tiny giggle. Even if he didn’t believe the act, she was determined to stay in character, at least for now. It would be her distraction to divert his attention away from the package.
Attempting to derail the topic further, Hara coyly approached the man. "Kind sir, won’t you help me find my sensei? Pretty please?" She opened her eyes ever so slightly and gave the man the most pleading look she could muster. The look doubled as a way to test him, to get a better read on him. He would’ve had to be pretty cold-hearted to just ignore it. "We can keep each other company along the way." All the while, she kept a close eye on how he reacted while trying to decide whether he might be a target to be stopped... Or a new friend to play with.

The scramble to hide the package behind her pack had him smiling as he approached. It appeared, for lack of better words for describing this curious situation, that a fox has cornered a fox. She was quick to pick up a persona, feigning ignorance and playing into his mocked words as a way to distract him. But Tatsu saw right through it. It was incredibly hard to play a seasoned trickster as himself. He has had years and years dodging the truth and deceiving others. Still, instead of calling her out on her bluff, he decided to play along, the curve of his lips remaining a constant. Tatsu bowed with a dramatic flourish, one hand out for her while the other curled around behind him. "I would be happy to help you find your way back," he mused, his candy apple irises regarding her with enough amusement to let her know he at least knew what kind of game this was turning out to be. The two of them were testing one another, trying to gauge each other's purpose and intent. For Tatsu himself, this was all just a product of curiosity. What was in that package that the other shinobi wanted to guard so carefully? He stood straight, pulling an expression of a man suddenly remembering he left the oven on-- "Oh, but what about your friend that just ran off? I sure hope he is able to make it back alright. It would be a shame if something happened." He quirked a brow, his left hand coming down to rest carefully against the hilt of his blade, Tori, where it sat strapped to his hip. "I sure hope that package was worth all this secrecy. What is it I wonder? A love note? A recipe? An order..?"The fugitive smirked broadly to himself, keeping his observant stare focused on the woman in front of him. She's not a low class shinobi, that much he can gather. He hasn't been free from his prison for very long, but some things just don't change. Rivaling shinobis still have a certain 'air' about them no matter where he or she is from. Hara Kin I think this is a case of lightningfox vs magnetfox? x3 MARI @ GS!

While the man did agree to help, Hara already had her suspicions that the clever fellow didn’t believe a word she said. After all, it was healthy to stay skeptical around the Kitsune. More than that though, something about the way he carried himself felt... familiar. Especially seeing that crafty smile was like looking into a strange mirror. Was this how other people felt around her? How very amusing~
Hara’s suspicions were confirmed when the stranger suddenly mentioned her so-called friend, the little delivery boy. Some would’ve taken his gesture with the sword as a threat, but the kunoichi was quick to wave it off in her usual, carefree manner. "I’m sure he’ll be fine." After all, this was a game of wits, not violence. Her gaze wandered onto the surrounding trees, looking for nothing in particular. "The story goes that a fox spirit watches over those who wander in this forest. I hear she’s dangerously protective over the little ones." Now who could’ve started such a story? If it even was true...
The Kitsune returned her focus onto the man as he started making guesses about the package. With each guess, she tilted her head just a little further, seeming more and more puzzled. After a long pause, Hara finally failed to hold back the snickers. "Hee hah hah haa~ A love note? For me?" Shaking her head, she sighed jokingly. "Now that would be hilarious." With the same distraction, she took a sly step back. Misdirection was like a dance, with each step leading into something new. It would be interesting to see if he took the bait to pursue the false lead.
With a mysterious tone and a smirk to match, Hara revealed the package. She held it in view, but safely in her grasp and out of his reach. It would’ve been quite embarrassing to let him just snatch it. Not to mention boring. "Oh, it’s a recipe alright..." Pause for effect, another step in their little dance. "For disaster." Enjoying the game so far, she slowly rotated the paper-covered mystery it in her hand. "What if I told you... that people would kill for the contents of this package?" Naturally, she wasn’t going to elaborate if that included her, assuming the playful claim had any truth at all.

His eyebrows rose high in the implication that a sly creature known as a fox-- and the spirit of one no less-- guarded these woods. Curious, was she trying to give him a clue? Tatsu let his eyes wander away from her to reassert his position among the trees around him, the corners of his mouth widening in his smirk. If this so called fox spirit was going to show itself, he could only assume it would come in the form of the very woman standing in front of him. After all, what kind of person says such things out of the blue like that if not as a subtle diluted threat? Both of them were a threat to one another, that much is clear. However, as to what happens next, still remains a mystery. Her laughing had him chuckling, and he shook his head, long locks fanning over one shoulder in the movement. " The idea of you receiving a love letter isn't entirely unexpected. You are a beautiful young lady. I don't see why you wouldn't be getting one at least once a week," he argued, winking beside himself. Tatsu mused quietly to himself though. Perhaps, if things played out correctly and he gained a name, he could send her a letter just to prove her wrong. And get a good laugh out of it. But before he could pursue more personal questions, the package was revealed, coming out to sit in the other shinobi's hands between them. Tatsu arched a brow at the peculiar bundle, and then lifted his gaze back to those glinting hues of hers. Her vague explanation of what could possibly be inside had his lips twitching; a frown wanting to surface. Dangling something as interesting and possibly valuable enough to kill for in front of a kleptomaniac such as himself was and is probably not the best plan. Then again, she probably has not the slightest clue on who or what he is. Still, his fingers tickled to reach for it and only stubborn will kept his hands still. She had moved several paces back, trying to bait him further, but Tatsu remained, eying both the package and the woman in its possession. "A recipe for disaster, huh?" He hummed, the obvious nature of his interest coming out in his tone, if not his posture. "For you to come out so far from your village to get such a... recipe... would convince me that others would want it. And badly. So, yes, I believe that others would want to kill for it."He gave a pause, and raised some fingers to his chin, considering for a moment. "Curiosity did kill the cat," he murmured to no one in particular. Then he smiled, and stepped closer to the woman, just barely breaching personal space, a hand raising just ever so slightly for that package. "But then again, satisfaction did bring him back. Are you planning on sharing or just keep me in suspense?"Tatsu had an abundant amounts of patience, but even he can get a little antsy after a while. Hara Kin I can't tell if they're flirting or threatening one another. xD MARI @ GS!

Another gut-tickling giggle escaped from the Kitsune. The compliment brought the faintest shade of pink on her cheeks. Weekly love letters? For her? She tried to wave it off immediately. "Oh hush, lady killer~ I won’t fall for that~" The kunoichi turned her gaze into something else while squirming pitifully, if only for the sake of putting up a show. Although... There was a grain of truth or two beneath the flustered act... For one, she had never received a single love letter from anyone. Perhaps it was better that way. She wouldn’t even know what to do with one. Probably turn it into origami or something.
Between the snickers, Hara wiped a tiny tear from her eye and let out an idle mutter. "It’s just so funny... You wouldn’t say any of that if you knew who you are dealing with..." For a split-second, her eyes narrowed and teeth flashed in a sharp grin. Blink and it was gone, back to her friendly smirk. It was just a little something to poke the guy for reactions and to keep him on his toes. Most people rarely noticed, or thought their eyes were playing tricks. She was known for her illusions after all. But this guy definitely wasn’t like most people... And why did he look so familiar? If only she had the name...
When the man closed the gap again, Hara stayed still. Her smile widened with the funny comparison and the question. Should she...? It could be fun... After brief consideration, she lifted a single finger towards the curious guy and teasingly wiggled it under his nose. "Hee~ Since you amuse me... I’ll let you take a peek. Just a tiny one." Offering the packet, she tossed in an ominous little comment as well. "But be careful. You don’t want it to go off. Trust me." Other than the strange warning, there were no tricks to worry about and no strings attached. Or so she would have him believe.
If the fellow decided to take the packet and peek inside, what he would find hiding beneath the brown shell was... more paper. No amount of peeling would get him any closer to the core. It was like an endless fountain of rustling wrapping. All the while, the Kitsune retained her most innocent smile, as if nothing unusual was going on. "What’s wrong? Aren’t you going to open it?" Her tone was sweet and childish, with a tiny hint of impatience even. Surely it couldn’t be some sort of trick... Especially not an illusion. There simply hadn’t been any time to weave hand seals after all.
