Mission: Filling In For The Aviary
[In Kirigakure; Flashback]
"So… Remind me why I'm doing this…" Kisaragi muttered to herself as she stepped into Kirigakure's aviary, which wasn't much different than the normal climate of Water Country since it's a mostly outdoors place. Well no use talking to herself now, as much as she didn't want to go to as far a place as the Country of Waterfalls. As she strode down the man-made path meant for visitors, Kisaragi has to admit that this was probably her first time here. There are a considerable number of birds flying around despite the nature of her mission but the brunette guessed that it's only because these birds are meant to be observed than used as workers. She would have to visit again one of these days, when she isn’t here on official business.
Kisaragi thought she probably took a good five minutes before she found the right path to her destination, but at last she entered an area where there are so many individual cages that housed one or two birds in them alone. There was no one in sight so she called out, "Excuse me, anyone around?" Then she waited for a good few moments before she decided to wait a bit longer and studied the birds that are recuperating in their cages.
She raised her hand towards one of the cages in an attempt to pet on of them when a voice stopped the brunette in her action, "I wouldn't try that if I were you. That one gets a bit nippy if someone touches him." Kisaragi whirled around towards the sound of the voice and was met with a man who looked to be in his early thirties holding a bundle of supplies in his arms. "I suppose you will be in charge of the delivery then?"
"Yes, that’s correct." Kisaragi answered then followed the man after he placed the supplies down and nodded his head towards an area at the back of the aviary. The teen could only guess that the area they were in is an area where the public normally do not have access to. Finally they stopped in front of a miniature building where the man told Kisaragi to wait while he retrieved the scroll in question.
"This scroll is going to Taki no Kuni. It's simple enough but make sure you don't read it and that it reaches a man by the name of Koutetsu." The man instructed as he handed Kisaragi a small scroll. "As per privacy, it is of utmost importance that ONLY Koutetsu get the message and that no one else can see it."
"Alright, I'm on it." Kisaragi said with a nod as she secured the scroll on her person, hidden under her clothing. Without another word, the brunette made her way back out of the aviary and was soon on the road.
[Nearing Taki no Kuni's borders]
For someone that was going to a rather far away country, Kisaragi thought that she packed way too light for it. Other than her basic equipment, Hagane was the only other thing she brought along with her. Maybe she should have packed a few light supplies in case she was forced to spend the night out in the wilds, she would at least have some things to set up camp with. The teen then shook her head and gave a small sigh when those thoughts crossed her mind. It wasn't like she actually did what she had just thought of, so it can't be helped any longer. Besides it was unlikely that she can go back now to pack. She's been on the road for at least a few days already so she should be close to the borders of the Waterfall Country. "Well so far everything is all clear…" Kisaragi thought to herself. "I just need a plan to work off of. I have absolutely no intel on what this Koutetsu even look like."
All in all, there really isn't much of a plan to think of. She knew exactly what she should do. She would have to find someone in a village that knows of this Koutetsu person. Of course, just how correct the intel would be… She would have to check them out via trial and error. Stretching a bit while walking, Kisaragi looked like she was having a leisure stroll. She would occasionally pass by a trading wagon or a farmer which helped a lot by pointing her towards the right direction.
[Taki no Kuni]
It didn't take long for Kisaragi to gather enough intel on the person named Koutetsu. But apparently the god of luck didn't like her as the man has closed himself off from the rest of the village and started living in the mountains. At least she's gotten enough information about where the man lives that it shouldn't be that hard to find his cabin. "Hopefully I can make it there then back down before the sun goes down."
In the middle of her thoughts, Kisaragi was caught slightly off guard when a cloud of smoke, most likely from a smoke bomb, suddenly covered her vision. The girl instinctively drew her staff from her back and took a battle stance while bringing some distance between her and the smoke. "This is a hold up, ojou-san! Hand over the goods!" A man’s voice announced, apparently just like how Kisaragi cannot see her would-be attackers, they can't see her either since it didn't seem like they noticed that the teen had taken a battle stance.
"Don't you think you two should at least take a good look as who you are robbing before actually take action?" Kisaragi said matter-of-factly. For a moment there was a pause between the two parties. But that was only a short moment as the two bandits, realizing that they had just attempted to rob someone that can fight back, immediately drew their respective katana and both landed hits on Hagane at the same time. Under their combined strength and weight, Kisaragi had trouble countering them from the get-go to which she made a jump-dodge backwards while kicking on of the men in the stomach, using him as leverage. "Really, leave now before anyone gets hurt." The girl stated calmly as she brought herself into a battle stance again.
Through the now dispersing smoke, Kisaragi managed to spot the bandits' shadows much more easily. This time the brunette was ready for their attacks which came from both of her sides. "I really hate it when they don’t heed warnings…" The girl muttered under her breath as she made an escape from harm with Shunshin no Jutsu. Using her sudden disappearance as an element of surprise, Kisaragi made the move to close the distance between her and one of the bandits. The girl tightened her grip on Hagane then made a thrust at the solar plexus of the man followed by sweep to knock him off his feet.
Before Kisaragi could deliver her final blow on the man, his partner has already recovered from his shock and made downward slashing movement at Kisaragi to separate the girl from his partner. The chuunin didn't think the man that she just disabled can stand up anytime soon though. She predicted that the man would be paralyzed for at least a while with the force that she used to hit him with using a weapon like Hagane. It seemed to her that upon the realization of her being a shinobi, the man has taken a serious turn in his battle stance. Kisaragi didn't think that this man would fall for the same tricks she used on his partner.
The man soon unleashed a flurry of swipes with his katana that Kisaragi only managed to dodge or block but Kisaragi has also been aiming her blows at the joints to maximize pain and hopefully end the combat before it tires her out. It didn't seem to be working as the man merely gave a grunt when taking a hit at the joints which Kisaragi is finding troublesome. Then seemingly out of nowhere, a second katana aimed at her head came flying her way to which the teen managed to dodge but could not react quickly enough to a slash at her dominant arm, causing a rather large gash.
Kisaragi winced in pain and dropped Hagane on the ground with a clang. "Dammit, fine… If you want it that way…" Kisaragi growled, she had wanted to avoid drawing blood but since her blood had been spilled, it was best for her to finish this quickly. Extracting a kunai from her equipment pouch, the chuunin could feel the blood tickling her arm. Dashing forward, the girl waited until the last moment to dodge a slash made at her, seemingly tackling the man but instead embedded the kunai in her hands into the man's leg.
Finally with the two men stunned, and even though she was bleeding, the girl didn't think it was necessary to take their lives. So instead, she quickly burrowed underground via Doton: Shinjuu Zanshu no Jutsu and before they knew it, the two men have their heads sticking out of the ground but unable to move. "Don't worry, I won't forget about the two of you… I'll make sure that someone would find you." The chuunin said while using parts of her skirt to stem the wound on her arm. As soon as she was done, she picked up Hagane off the ground and headed towards her destination once again.

Thankfully for Kisaragi, the rest of her trip up the mountains was peaceful. Before long, a wooden cabin came into view and the girl couldn’t help but feel elated. Kisaragi wasted no time at all knocking on the door, "Excuse me, is anyone home?" After a few moments, there was no reply and the girl didn’t pick up any sounds from the inside. "Not home…? What's with my luck today?" The chuunin ended up taking a seat outside the cabin with her back leaning against the building.
She didn't know how much time has passed but Kisaragi was jolted awake when she heard the sound of footsteps nearby. She had dozed off without knowing it. The chuunin immediately got to her feet; made sure everything was still on her person then waited as a hulk of a man came into view. "What do you want? If you want charity there ain't any here." The man said as soon as he came into hearing distance and Kisaragi could see that he was studying her.
"Are you Koutetsu-san?" The teen inquired, completely ignoring the comment from the man. The man didn’t answer her but the air he had about him told the chuunin that this was the person she was looking for. "I have a delivery for you." With that being said, Kisaragi extracted the scroll she was entrusted with from under her clothing before handing it to the man.
"Y'know, if I wasn't Koutetsu and you handed this to me…" He began but Kisaragi merely smiled. "Hmph, you're pretty confident. Fine, I've been waitin' for this anyway."
"Well then, my job here is done so have a nice day, Koutetsu-san." With a slight bow of her head, the chuunin used her Shunshin no Jutsu to get back to the local village. She has something to report to the authorities after all. Once that was done, the girl looked quite happy. Within two days, she was back within Kirigakure, having taken the faster route this time since she knew the way home now. The only thing that she dreaded upon arriving back was the report that needs to be completed.
