NPC: Omoi Hayata, Kirigakure ANBU
NPC: Eiji Kobayashi, Kirigakure ANBU
Target: Genma Toushiro, Kirigakure S-Rank Missing-nin
The sky had been blanketed by a thick, grey sheet of dark clouds. Thunder rolled in the distance, and bolts of lightning struck the ground. A storm was brewing, but it was still a ways away. nothing had touched down on Kazu's immediate location yet. The ground still remained dry, as though it hadn't rained in days. The grass seemed parched, and the air felt dry. The wind had recently begun to pick up, blowing due south. Kazu's robes swayed in the wind, and his hair became messy as the wind ruffled it up. He had received recent information about the possible location of one known as Genma Toushiro, an S-Ranked shinobi who once fought for Kirigakure. He had been exiled from the village when his struggle for power over the village had proved to be a failure. Kazu had personally seen to it, though he had not expected this man to attempt something so bold as to plan a war within the Water Country, and take what he believed was rightfully his by force.
Kazu and his two ANBU escorts, Omoi and Eiji, continued to travel throughout Water Country, following the information that he had been given. The information wasn't guaranteed, as was to be expected. Information in the shinobi world could never be trusted entirely. But, there was always that chance. The chance that it could indeed be accurate. That chance alone made the trip worth it. If it was accurate, Kazu would be given the chance to revisit Genma, the man who once tried to throw Kazu from his thrown as the Mizukage. The man who plotted to plunge Kirigakure into darkness.
Omoi Hayata was the only female of the three traveling companions. She was also one that Kazu trusted with his very life. The two of them grew up together, and while they couldn't be considered friends by any means, Kazu is aware of what this woman is capable of. He's watched her grow since their days together at the academy. Her long, black hair extended down to her tail bone. It was often tied up in a ponytail to prevent her hair from getting in the way. Her skin was rather pale, as well. She often looked as though she had come down with some sort of illness, though in reality she was always incredibly healthy. Omoi stood about two inches shorter than Kazu, and her build was thin. Her eyes were a dark brown color, and her face was flawless, though you couldn't tell because of the white ANBU mask she wore all of the time. Omoi was a silent woman. One who preferred to keep to herself, aside from a select few. She is one who would rather simply get the job done, quickly and efficiently. Omoi is also one who holds an incredibly large respect for the Mizukage. She'd gladly lay down her life for him.
Eiji Kobayashi was the other member of ANBU accompanying Kazu on his task. This man was slightly older. He appeared to be in his early thirties. He had an incredibly fit body build, and his skin was toned nicely due to the amount of time he has spent in the sun over his years of service. He was bald, and his face was covered in thick scars from battle, though again, the white ANBU mask hid most of these features. He towered at an even six feet and two inches tall. Though he was a little older than Kazu and Omoi, he was only just recently promoted into the ANBU ranks. This mission was only his second as a member of ANBU Black Ops. Eiji is a man of honor. One who lives by the sword. He's got a sense of humor, and can be quite loud at times. Eiji is incredibly jolly, and loves to drink with a group of people. He is incredibly proud and would never back down from a fight.
The thunder continued to roll in the distance, and the flashes of lightning began to grow more frequently. The dry air finally started to grow moist as the rain approached. Kazu came to a halt. He held his arms out, stopping his two escorts from moving passed him. There, in the distance, wooden buildings could be seen. Part of a village had risen from the ground, while the rest of it was clearly in the process of being built. Kazu examined the erect village from afar. His comrades stood there, by his side, simply wondering why.
"Boss. What's goin' on?" Eiji asked in his raspy voice, glancing at Kazu with the corner of his eyes.
"Is there something up ahead?" asked Omoi, quietly, as usual.
"Up there." Kazu replied to the both of them as he pointed straight ahead. "See those small buildings? That's a brand new village. This man we're hunting. That's him, I can feel it."
Kazu gazed into the distance towards the small village with determination. He observed it from a distance for a while, silently. The other two simply gazed forward with him, wondering what could be going through Kazu's head.
"Shouldn't we, uh, sneak in?"
"We approach from the front. Head on." Kazu replied to Eiji's question as he began to walk towards the village.
"But... Mizukage-sama?" Omoi spoke up, barely loud enough for Kazu to hear. "Wouldn't it be easier to sneak in and get him by surprise?"
"There would be no surprise, Omoi. They're already aware of our presence. In fact, they're waiting to ambush us."
As if on cue, shuriken and kunai began to fly through the air towards the three of them from all directions. Kazu moved swiftly and gracefully, dodging the blades. It was as though he were dancing gracefully to a beautiful melody. Omoi and Eiji jumped back, dodging the remaining blades. One had caught Eiji in the left arm, grazing him slightly. A small amount of blood squirted from the tiny wound and he regained his composure and desperately tried to lock his eyes onto Kazu, making sure his lord wasn't harmed. When he finally caught Kazu's location, Kazu was already gone. Kazu was running straight toward the village, entering it. Eiji and Omoi both tried to get to Kazu and assist him, but it was too late. Hordes of shinobi rushed towards them from all directions. Small buildings surrounded the streets. Mostly small homes of the people that had decided to join Ganma on his endeavors. Kazu came to a stop in the middle of the village.
"Genma! You bastard!" Kazu shouted towards the sky. "Get your ass out here! Show your face, you coward! I know you're here!"
Kazu stood there for a few moments, silently waiting for Genma to make his grand appearance. One rain drop hit the ground, followed by another, and then another. Thunder boomed overhead, shaking the very ground Kazu stood on. The thunder cued the heavy rainfall. The rain began to pour down. Within seconds, Kazu became soaked. His roabe dripping with rain water.
"If that's how you want to play it, then so be it." Kazu silently warned the criminal, Genma.
Kazu's hands began to form seals with lightning speed. It would be difficult to determine the signs actually performed they were so fast. Kazu stood there, holding the final seal.
"Hyōton! Chikei Kaihen!"
Kazu knelt down on one knee, placing both of his hands flat on the now wet ground. The temperature began to rapidly decrease. As Kazu exhaled, his breath turned into a mist. The moisture on the ground began to rapidly freeze, turning the ground below into a frozen wasteland. The houses began to freeze over, and the air grew thin with the cold. As the jutsu completed it's round, Kazu stood back up once more, rapidly forming more seals with his hands, stopping on the final one once more.
"Hissatsu Hyōsō!"
Crash! Multiple large spikes made of ice shot up from the ground, smashing one of the houses to pieces. Debris flew everywhere. Pieces of wood and chunks of ice crashed into the frozen ground beneath. Out from the dust flew three shinobi. Two of which were the mangled remains of what used to be bodies, while the third was Genma, alive and still kicking. Genma landed on the ground, sliding along the ice. He pulled out a kunai, forcing the blade into the ice beneath him, halting his movement along the icy surface. Just as Genma came to a halt, Kazu vanished, reappearing beside Genma, mid-kick. The kick made contact with Genma's left arm as he blocked the attack. A smack from the contact echoed through the village, and Kazu pushed off of Genma's arm, launching himself away, keeping a slight distance. Kazu landed on his feet and stood there, eying Genma down as Genma rose up to stand once more.

Meanwhile, outside of the village, Omoi and Eiji fought for their lives. Hordes of loyal shinobi swarmed them. Eiji kept his eyes on the village, hoping that Kazu wouldn't need their assistance until they could free themselves from this trap. Shinobi after shinobi rushed the two of them. It was easily two against twenty at this rate. They continued to fight hard, fending off the foes as they rushed in to attack. Eiji noticed a sudden change within the village. The ground began to freeze over and suddenly, giant spikes of ice shot up from the ground, creating quite the racket.
"The boss has got 'er under control!" Eiji shouted to Omoi as he began to grin. "Let's have us some fun, eh!"
"It seems so." Omoi responded, barely audible as she gracefully dodged a water bullet flying directly at her.
Eiji and Omoi began to grow exhausted as they just couldn't break free from this mess. They were outnumbered, and they began to run out of stamina and chakra. Eiji ran towards one of the enemies, grunting and shouting as he slaughtered five more that had gotten in the way. He ran his katana through one of the shinobi, and the body collapsed to the ground. He glanced to the side, placing Omoi in his vision.
"Omoi! Behi-" Eiji shouted, trying to warn Omoi of the shinobi that was about to stab her from behind. Before he could finish, another shinobi who was hiding in the puddle behind him pierced Eiji with a sword. Straight through his heart. The shinobi removed the blade, kicking Eiji off of it. Eiji crashed into the ground, splashing the water up. Blood pooled out, onto the ground, staining it red. Eiji watched with his last ounce of life the woman he was working with fall to the same fate as he. A blade pierced her from behind, inevitably ending her life. Omoi let out a scream as she collapsed to the ground. Eiji watched the life pass from her. Her eyes grew dim as she took her last breath, bleeding out all over the ground. Eiji tried to hold on, but he just couldn't anymore. His life too, slipped away with Omoi. Eiji's grin never faded, even after he passed on. He died proud, defending the very village and people he loved. Now it was all up to Kazu. Three shinobi had managed to survive, and all three of them left the area. Running into the nearest forest to avoid anymore confrontation, they abandoned their fearless leader, Genma, to fight for himself.

Kazu and Genma continued to stare each other down. Both of them bound and determined to walk away from this fight alive. The tension could be felt from miles away. The two of them clearly had history. Their hatred for one another knew no bounds. Kazu's eyes locked onto Genma. He examined his target from head to toe. Genma stood at an even six feet tall, with a fit build. He had long, black hair that extended to the bottom of his ears. It was slicked back, just as it usually was. A small goatee covered his chiseled chin. A black robe blanketed over his Jounin outfit that he still had in his possession from his days as a Kirigakure shinobi. No forehead protector could be seen anywhere on him. Genma's poker face rivaled even Kazu's. The two of them were far more alike than the both of them would care to admit.
"Kazu, you're such a fool." Genma stated, breaking the silence. "You always were. Today is the day you die. I will take what is yours." Genma spoke with such confidence.
"We'll see who is the fool when I'm standing over your cold, dead corpse." Kazu responded, his voice holding no emotion.
"Ya know, Kazu? There is something about you that just makes my stomach turn. Ever since I first laid eyes on you. I've always found you.... exceptionally creepy. What are you hiding?"
Kazu stood there for a moment, silently. Kazu wasn't about to answer this guy. Moments felt like hours as the two of them simply exchanged cold stares. The rain continued to fall, freezing before striking the ground and building up the ice below. Frost had built up on Kazu's white robe, as well as Genma's black one.
Finally, Genma had grown tired of the silence. In order to break the silence, Genma vanished, reappearing on top of an icy building. He began to rapidly form signs with his hands. In response, Kazu vanished simultaneously, reappearing on top of a building across from Genma. Kazu began to form signs of his own.
"Suiton! Teppōdama!" they both shouted simultaneously as they took in a deep breath, building up chakra, and then launched a giant ball of water from each of their mouths. The balls clashed in mid-air, spraying water everywhere. Once more, they both vanished, reappearing on the ground below. Kazu's palm struck Genma's arm, followed by Genma's foot striking Kazu's leg. The two of them clashed time and time again, using taijutsu to try to force the other into submission.
The fight proceeded as one would strike the other, and then the other would counter with an attack of his own. It appeared to be a close fight between two bitter enemies. But it was time. Kazu had finally decided to end it. Kazu confidently grabbed Genma's fist in mid-punch. Kazu them pulled Genma in towards him, lifting his knee simultaneously, striking Genma in the stomach and throwing him off balance. Suddenly Kazu exploded into water, revealing that this Kazu was in fact a water clone and not the original. Standing on top of another rooftop was Kazu, who had already completed the required seals for one last powerful jutsu. A ball of concentrated chakra had formed around him, protecting him from the rapidly spinning air around him.
"Rasen Ryū!" Kazu shouted.
A large dragon burst out from the spinning wind around Kazu. It was made up of the same spinning air that formed the dome around him. The air acted as millions of tiny little blades, ready to slice up the target on a microscopic level. Still winded, Genma could only watch the dragon approach him, until he had been engulfed by it. For a moment, as Genma was trapped inside, Kazu couldn't see him. He would only hear the ear shattering screams of agony that Genma released from deep within. Kazu let out a smirk.
As the rapidly spinning air began to die down and disappear, Genma fell to the ground, striking the ice hard. Kazu released the hand seal he held to control the dragon, and began to breathe heavier. This jutsu took a lot out of him. It was one of his most powerful, and a jutsu that he was incredibly proud of. Kazu jumped down from the building, landing on the ground below. He slowly walked towards Genma, who was now a terrible mess. Blood oozed from the tiny wounds that covered his body. His robe had been ripped to shreds, and his hair was an absolute travesty.
Kazu stood over top of Genma, gazing down at him with his cold, emotionless eyes. Kazu raised his right leg up, and placed it down onto Genma's throat, cutting off his air flow. He began to press down, crushing Genma's windpipe. Genma panicked, trying to gasp for air. Kazu watched as this man's life slowly came to an end.
"You were the fool, Genma." Kazu spoke. "You really thought you could defeat me? I'm worlds beyond your reach, now. You wanted to know what I'm hiding? I simply want to grow stronger. Nothing in this world could quench my hunger for power. I crave it. I need it. I will search for it until the day I die. This is all I want in life. And you offer me nothing to satisfy this undying hunger."
Genma's eyes widened as he continued to gasp for air, squirming and squealing in pain.
"Enjoy the afterlife, fool."
Kazu pressed down on Genma's throat with all of his force. A faint snap could be heard as Genma's neck snapped, and his head fell limp. The life left Genma's eyes as Kazu removed his foot from his throat. Kazu noticed a familiar sword hanging from Genma's hip. It was imbedded with a special crest. Genma's family crest.
"This ought to suffice as proof." Kaz spoke to himself. "I suppose I should go assist the others, now."
Kazu placed the sheathed sword as his hip as he wandered back out of the village. Corpses of dead shinobi covered the battlefield. Kazu walked right by them, paying them no mind, until he came across two of them that appeared familiar to them. His very own shinobi escorts. They had been overhwhelmed by the sheer number of shinobi. Kazu stopped, gazing at his two, dead comrades. He bent over, picking up the body of Omoi. Throwing her over his shoulder, he wandered over to Eiji, repeating the process. With two bodies hanging from his shoulders, he began to make his way back towards the village of Kirigakure.
"I'm sorry..." he apologized.
