Building Docks [c] [Mission]
|
Post by Ronin on Jul 20, 2014 5:42:26 GMT -7
What an early morning this was. The normally blue sky was devoid of clouds for once, and the sunrise had exploded in a burst of many different colors. These types of mornings were the ones that Ronin wished he could just stay home and draw, paint, or something. However, work was work, and works was a priority. Especially when it came to the training of his genin team. Their mission today? Rebuild a dock that had been destroyed in a very recent storm. The longer the dock stayed in its non-existent state, the more money that the people of Kirigakure lost. They couldn't have people starving, and it was even worse when the fishermen couldn't make a lively hood. Fishermen were loud and obnoxious when they wanted something done, and they were even louder when they couldn't work. In fact, with all the yelling that had been going on between the fishermen and the village, Ronin was surprised that they hadn't gone deaf or gotten themselves beaten to a bloody pulp.
Ronin splashed a bit of water on his face, trying to wake himself up a little more. He'd be useless if he wasn't on guard and very aware of his surroundings. Making sure that he had cleaned up the dishes from his breakfast, he then slipped on his jacket before equipping both his swords and his daggers. He crossed his arms over his chest, glancing back into his apartment, noting how much of a mess it was with all the art supplies littered everywhere. He'd always told himself that he'd clean it all up at some point, but he never did. He kind of liked his own little piece of chaos.
Locking his house up, it wasn't long before Ronin had found himself at the gates of Kirigakure, pulling himself up onto his favorite perch in one of the villages few trees. He was early, of course, so he did what he always did. He reached into his pack for his sketch book and he started to draw, focusing on the gates. The strokes of his pencil were careful and he remained focused, though he kept himself aware of his surroundings just in case any members of his team showed up. Hopefully they were either early or on time, he didn't really like being late and they had a job to do. It was going to take a while, and they couldn't waste any time waiting for a straggling team mate. Whoever didn't show up on time would be left here and they would miss out on the opportunity to both go on this mission and earn some extra money.

TRY TWICE AS HARD AND I'M HALF AS LIKED. ✿ Asuka could barely keep her attention focused on anything aside from her half eaten plate of breakfast. Her father started the otherwise clear morning with a long list of lectures. Don't screw up like last time. Don't be late. Do what you're sensei tells you to do. Don't act out-- on and on. She zoned out on most of it, having by now become quite the expert on tuning people out entirely, especially when it came to the stubborn old man. Ever since she came back with the scars of her last mission, her father had been more tempered than usual. And of course, her mother did nothing to keep him from screaming in her ear at all hours of the day. She couldn't have packed up and ran out of her house quick enough. Despite being woken up clearly on the wrong side of the bed, at least the weather appeared decent enough. Her arms still itched occasionally under the bandages, the burns just now healing but would undoubtedly scar according to the Konoha medical team that treated her. They would remain, as a reminder of her screw up, and she hated them but what could she do? Short of tearing her arms off she was sort of stuck with them. And would have to deal; just like how she deals with all the other curve balls life liked to throw at her. Asuka inhaled as deep as her lungs would allow, and exhaled, shouldering her pack for travel and making her way toward the village gates. As the gates loomed ever closer in the distance, she felt the unwanted butterflies kick it into high gear in her gut. She had not talked to Mayu since after the mission having been too ashamed over what happened to face her. Asuka couldn't help but wonder how this mission would go. Would she mess up again? Long lashes fell as she closed her eyes. I can't think like that.Trying to remember to tell herself to think positive and breathe she put herself into a jog to close the gap between herself in the gates that much quicker. Ronin was of course there first, and though she did not see him at first, a quick glance about uncovered his position fairly easily; it wasn't like he was purposely hiding himself or anything. "Hi, sensei," Asuka greeted, trying hard not to bring attention to the bandages peeking out from under her long sleeves. She beamed and grinned as big as she could despite the anxiety and worry twisting her up. |

SEI SIND DAS ESSEN UND WIR SIND DIE jager Mayu lived on the second floor of her house. It wasn't like other houses, where there were simply first-floor expansions, the house that the Nagato family belonged in was architecturally designed to allow a higher view. Sometimes, the genin would think her parents were paranoid and over-alert for even planning their housing accordingly; but then she always reminded herself, there was no such thing in the world of shinobi.
Her scrolls had already been prepared, her special clothing tended to and ready. Warm-ups always came as she awoke for the morning before the rendezvous. Thankfully, her throat and chakra have recovered well since the last mission, so there was no problem with utilizing any of her techniques anymore. Mayu finished up her preparations and cooked herself a silent breakfast before eating it alone. The family members were rather independent of each other, so there were no goodbyes or good lucks. Just an acknowledgement of existence, then leave to do your job. Cold, but Mayu admitted it could be worse.
Once she was ready, Mayu entered the second floor balcony and locked the door behind her. She ended her morning rituals with a reminder of what to do and who will be there. Team 1, consisting of herself, Asuka Yuki, and Shimo Rengetsu, led by Jonin shinobi Ronin. The task was to rebuild a dock that was recently destroyed. D-Rank. Meet at the gates. Nodding, the genin of two years bounded from her own rooftop to another, traversing the ceilings and quickly speeding to her meeting point.
As she moved, Mayu reflected on her allies. Shimo Rengetsu was a neutral subject, as she didn't know him well enough. Ronin was respectable, and had her loyalty through his training and position. Asuka Yuki was a somewhat volatile subject; though aggressive, she's displayed bouts of depression recently, due to her injury and lack of action in the last mission. Additionally, further records show dubious testimonies in her familial relations, which Mayu could only hope was lack of information and nothing more. Nevertheless, she was capable.
Mayu reached the meeting point by rooftop, barely tired. Asuka and Ronin were already present, and she landed about ten feet away from the both of them. Keeping her polite neutral face, Mayu also had a polite neutral tone as she reported in. "Mayu Nagato, present for the mission." She then bowed to show respect and due greetings, while not giving off too much about herself or being obnoxious. Just a job to be done.

Shimo sat up in his bedroom as he stared towards the wall across from him, was it really morning already? He couldn't help but groan out a yawn before rubbing at his eyelids before he pushed the covers off from his body, moving out from under them as he let his feet hit the floor and pushed himself up. He ran a hand through his snow white hair as he headed over towards his clothing dresser and opened a few of the drawrs, withdrawing a few articles of clothing before heading out of his room in the small home. He opened the small door in the hallway, grabbing a towel before heading into the shower to get his morning rituals started. First came the shower, making sure to clean himself and dry himself off before getting himself dressed. He then got his hair brushed carefully, the comb straightening his hair for the moment since he knew full well that it would rise up and go its own way within time. Once all of that was finished, he brushed his teeth thoroughly before cleaning the toothbrush and washing his mouth out, deciding that he would grab himself some breakfast afterwards.
Shimo chewed upon an apple as he grabbed his Katana from the corner of the room, a sharpening stone that rested on the table next to it was grabbed after he shouldered the blade. He still had some time before he had to meet up with Ronin and the others, so he figured he would sharpen and polish his blade in the mean time. He moved outside upon his porch and sat down, staring off at the few other homes that were around his little cottage as he took another bite of his apple before setting it down next to him, removing the sword from his shoulder and resting it upon his lap unsheathing the blade as he took a better grip upon the sharpening stone and began to run it along the blade's edge. His ears could hear the soft harmonic sound of the stone grinding against the metal as little flakes of from the stone powdered off, the blade's edge giving off a little shine as he smiled and continued. 'One day, it'll be my very own blade that I'll be sharpening...', he thought to himself as he continued.
As he finished with the stone and set it down beside him, he brought the blade up, the sharpened edge upwards towards the sky as he brought the hilt to rest along his cheek, eyes peering down the blade's edge to check it's sharpness. Satisfied with the results, he calmly used the fabric of his shirt to wipe along the blade's surface, removing any dust from it before resheathing the sword ever so gently. He rose up from his porch shortly after, heading inside as he grabbed his white Hiyori and placed it over his shoulders, the sword going upon him on the outside as he adjusted and tightened the fastener for the coat and headed out the door. It took a little bit of time for him to get to his team mates, but sure enough he arrived with a blank expression on his face and before rolling his shoulders and speaking aloud. "Alright, seems I'm last. Sorry for keeping you all waiting.", he said softly.

A female voice broke his concentration, and without even looking at his student, he slowly closed his sketch book and slipped both it and the pencil back into his pack. Then he let his gaze trail down to Asuka, taking in her entire form, making note of abnormalities, the way she held herself. 'Hiding something,' he noted calmly to himself, though he didn't voice this out loud. A few moments later and he'd jumped down in front of her, reaching his hand out and placing it on top of the kunoichi's head, tussling her blonde locks. "Good morning to you, Asuka-san. I trust it you got enough rest for today's mission?" he asked, a rare treat for him to show his kind side. His genin always received this treatment, as long as they weren't training or in the midst of a battle.
He didn't smile, though. No, they wouldn't get that sort of treatment. Besides, he wasn't the happy type, always remaining complacent and unmoved by most things. "I'm sure that everyone will be here soon and then we can get going," he had just finished saying as Mayu met up with the two of them. The one thing that always struck Ronin was how formal she was about everything. Ronin himself wasn't keen on remaining formal, though with her, he'd started to try. He didn't want her to feel uncomfortable because of his views on the subject of honourifics. "Good morning, Mayu-san. Glad to have you on board. We're just waiting for one more member and then we can get going. Hope you're ready for hard labor," Ronin said with a slight, off-handed chuckle.
He remembered his Genin years all too well. He had loved the fact that he was a ninja and had taken every job on head on without any complaint. He'd been so excited about every mission that he'd gone on. He was hoping that maybe these three would show a little more enthusiasm about their mission. It may have been just rebuilding a dock, but it was always an honor to even be considered for such a big job like this.
The Kiri jounin's attention was pulled from Mayu and Asuka as Shimo approached, noting that he must have been the last one they were waiting for. "Exactly," Ronin started. He was the hardest on Shimo, simply because he saw so much of himself in the kid. It was hard not to. Ronin wasn't blind to the kids past, and he certainly could see the potential in the young swordsman. "However, you aren't late so I can't punish you for being last. But for future reference, Shimo, the swordsman are always the first to the meeting," he noted calmly, his expression a little deadly, watching his student closely just to see how he would react.
"In any case, we have a job to get done, so lets not waste any time, shall we?" he asked calmly, motioning toward the gate of the village. "I'll let you guys lead the way. Keep your guard up, and yourself prepared for anything. I'll follow your lead," he said with an heir of finality, motioning his hand toward the village gate once more to tell them to get going.
