"Say I never struggled, wasn't hungry, yeah, I doubt it"
“God, why is today so damn hot!” It felt like one of the hottest days this year and everyone knew this so guess what was on their heads, hats. This was completely normal for Sunagakure but this was not what Nobu wanted to deal with right now. The chicken he had to capture today was capable of transforming and guess what it was known for transforming as, hats. Nobu had a feeling that today’s capture was going to be the most difficult one yet, the heat would not help his mood in the least bit. After doing his morning run around the village, he saw that nearly everybody was wearing a hat which made him regret accepting this chicken but he would not back out of a mission after accepting it. After he got home, he washed off his face, ate some breakfast and headed back out to find a single hat in a village of people.
He stopped by the Kazekage’s office to find out if the chicken had been seen in a certain area and to his luck, there it had been sighted in the Residential District an hour ago so he ran off to start his search. Since everyone was wearing a hat today he would have to search each hat he came across one by one. He thought of a few different methods to check the hats. He could use Fūton: Reppūshō to blow their hats off. Since the chicken is using a simple transformation. If they were to fall of someone’s head and hit the ground, it would interrupt the jutsu. Another option he had was he could use his Akihiko Wire to try and lasso the hats off people’s heads and check them. Finally, he could just ask people to check their hats, most people would be willing to cooperate if he said it was for a mission from the Kazekage herself.
Getting started Nobu walked down the main street in the residential district and tried his last option first. As he walked around, if he saw anyone with a hat on, he would walk up to them, tell them that he was on a mission and that he would like to check their hats. Everybody was really nice and very cooperative. All he did to check was push chakra into the hats to see if he could release any jutsu being used. After doing this for a while, Nobu realized that this method would simply take too long. Looking to decrease the amount of time he had to sit in the sun, he decided to try out a little bit of wind. Finding a large group of people walking down the street, he used Fūton: Reppūshō and clapped his hands together. By concentrating his chakra, he was able to knock off everyone’s hats while not putting them on their asses. Immediately after using the jutsu, he jumped onto a building to see what happened but sadly, the only thing he saw was a mob of angry people throwing rocks at him.
After escaping from the angry mob, he realized that maybe his way of knocking some time off the mission might not have been the best choice he had made in his lifetime. It was still mid-day so Nobu still had some time to find the last chicken. He fell back on using his wire to snatch hats off of people’s heads. After doing this a few times he realized that this too, was not the greatest method. He could successfully steal people’s hats, check them, and return them with the wire and move onto another target but he had no luck. If this kept up, it would get dark and the hats would come off bring the mission to a halt for a whole night. This is something that he did not want but out of options, he did not have much else to run on besides that it was a chicken that can transform into any type of hat and was almost always seen in the residential district.
He decided to ask people because surprisingly, this was the fastest method to checking each hat. “Hello sir, I’m currently on a mission for the village, may I check your hat, I promise it will only take a second”. The man shrugged his shoulders and took off his hat and gave it to Nobu to inspect. After noticing nothing wrong he gave it back and as he was about to give up he saw someone picking up a top hat from an alleyway. This was the first top hat he had seen, ever and stood out a lot. Nobu walked towards the man and told him that he was on a mission and that he was checking hats in the residential district. “Does that hat belong to you?” “No, I just saw it sitting in this alleyway and was curious so I picked it up". “Do you mind if I check it?” The man took the hat off and handed it to Nobu. The young Suna ninja put chakra into the hat and in that moment, a cloud of smoke shot out of the hat and Nobu jumped back. As he hit the ground, he saw a chicken running in the opposite direction. He ran after the chicken but after turning a corner, he saw no chicken but another street filled with people with hats on.
About to go into a rage induced rant, he tensed up but eased back up after a second. Walking straight towards a man walking in the same direction as Nobu. One could tell by Nobu’s face that he was not amused in what he saw. Sitting atop the man’s head, was a Viking helmet, yes, a Viking helmet. “Really…..” was all he could say as he tied his wire into a lasso, put chakra into it, threw it at the helmet, tightening it around of the horns and flinging it back to himself. Before the hat reached his hand the helmet went through a series of transformations; a beret, a cowboy hat, a fedora, a beanie, a captain hat, a witch’s hat, priest’s hat, and finally, a Native American headpiece. Irritated, Nobu hit the transforming hat decently hard once it came in range, causing a cloud of smoke and seeing a knocked out chicken on the ground.
Nobu brought the chicken to the chicken farm, and apologized for hitting it as hard as he did. After receiving a lecture about animal abuse, Nobu went back to the Kazekage’s office to inform her of the mission being completed.
