Aoi winced as the woman began to put medicine into the wound on Aoi's leg. His face tightened as a sharp pain surged through his body. His fingers clenched together, creating fists. As the pain faded, the woman had finally began to wrap his leg up. The pressure from the bandages hurt for a brief second, but the pain quickly subsided and transformed into an ache. A constant ache. Aoi had watched the woman work, patching him up nicely. As he watched, he could only wonder why she was so good. Where had she gotten this medicine from. As he thought about it, the woman introduced herself as well. Demiyah...
"It's nice to meet you, too." Aoi politely resonded. His face remained cold. His eyes narrow. Moving all over the room, his eyes darted from wall to wall, ceiling to floor. Aoi tried to find more clues. He needed to know who this Demiyah really was. There was no way a simple hunter could be so effective with medical supplies.
Demiyah helped Aoi sit up straight. Her arms set underneath his shoulders, and then leaning him against a pillow. He fell into the soft pillow, feeling nearly weightless. He sipped the antidote from the cup that Demiyah had pressed against his lips, swallowing it all in one mouthful. The antidote raced down his throat. It had a sort of bitter taste to it. Almost like a berry that hadn't quite ripened. It was strong, though, and Aoi couldn't help but let out a cough. All Aoi could do at this point was wait for it to take effect. He needed to get out of here. Another shinobi was on the run, and Aoi needed to find him. Aoi needed to get Gekido back, just as he silently promised. Just as this thought had struck him though, Demiyah reminded him of the shinobi that had gotten away.
"Not for long..." Aoi responded. "I'll find him again. Gekido and I will kill him..."
Aoi relaxed once more. Resting his head back against the wall. He took a deep breath in, vision finally beginning to return. It seemed as though the antidote was already helping. His body remained weak, but there were minor changes. Aoi was starting to think clearly. With his thoughts clearing up once more, Aoi thought it appropriate to begin questioning.
"Who are you...?" He asked, eyes gazing directly into Demiyah's red eyes. For a moment, he found himself unable to look away. Even so, he proceeded to question this woman. "Why do you know so much about treating poisons?"

A soft breeze drifted in through the open window across the room and Demiyah turned her gaze away from Aoi, feeling as if he were looking deeply into her soul. She swallowed lightly, her hands resting comfortably in her lap as she watched the open window, half expecting one of the Sunagakure hawks to fly through at any moment. They had said that it wasn't going to be too long before they'd made their decision, but that didn't leave Demiyah any less nervous. This was something that she desperately wanted, yet at the same time, she didn't. To be the leader of her village would be an even larger burden on her shoulders, but at the same time it'd be an enlightening and empowering time for her. It took her a while to answer him, though at this point she found that maybe it was best to be honest with him. He was obviously going to figure her out at some point, so why try to hide it any longer? Demiyah could see it in the way his eyes wandered around her cabin, searching for anything about her that would set her apart from the hunter she was posing as. Oh yes, he would figure her out sooner or later. Her expression went from peaceful and gentle to rather emotionless, though not cold in the slightest. There was something there, but no one had ever seen that deep into her gaze. No one had ever picked apart the pain and turmoil that hid there. Her father and sister, even her cousin, were all under the impression that everything was alright. They didn't even know how wrong they were. "You won't be leaving for at least a day or two," she noted calmly. "I'd like to see you try and leave with your leg like that," she noted, crossing her arms over her chest as she eyed him, not being malicious in any way. She was being honest. He'd likely not make it out the door without stumbling, plus the antidote wouldn't complete its rotation for another few hours at least. "Just lay there and relax, you aren't in the company of anyone who'd harm you. After all, I'm pretty sure that if I was just going to kill you, I'd have done it out in the forest where I found you," she said matter of factly, a smirk returning to her features. A flutter of wings sounded by the window and Demiyah's head snapped to the side to look. There it was. She'd been expecting it for some time now, and just when he wasn't paying attention, it'd flown to the window sill. Holding her arm up as if it were a perch, Demiyah let a slight click of her tongue sound, urging the large bird to come to her. He hopped once and then flew right to Demiyah's arm, landing and steadying himself, folding brown wings against his body. There was a message attached to the sling on the hawks ankle and Demiyah removed the message before pointing the bird back toward the window. A flutter of wings and a few falling feathers later and the bird was gone, heading back toward the village. Sighing softly, she unrolled the message, reading through it carefully, having to read it a few times before it finally sunk in. "To answer your question, Aoi. I know a lot about poisons because I'm from Sunagakure. I've had to deal with the puppeteers and carry supplies of antidotes for the various poisons that they create," she started lightly, slowly rolling up the message, her eyes angled down to stare into her lap. She was silent for a few long moments before looking up into his face again, catching his gaze. "As for who I am. I'm just a simple jounin from Sunagakure."

The soft breeze rolling in through the window brushed Aoi's shaggy blue hair, revealing a little more of the curse mark hidden beneath for a brief moment. It felt good. The cool breeze felt nice as it brushed against his skin. Aoi shut his eyes for a second, taking a deep breath in, enjoying the moment of fresh air. Unfortunately, his moment of tranquility was cut short with the bit of information Demiyah had decided to give him. But Aoi refused to listen. He was often stubborn like that. When Aoi had a mission to complete, that was all that was on his mind. This was no exception. " Tonight." Aoi barked. " I'll be out of here by nightfall. I've got a job to do." Aoi was very clear about this. There was no sign of wavering from this decision in his voice. Aoi might not be at one-hundred percent, but he'd be well enough by then to move on. If he wasn't, it didn't matter. Aoi would make ends meet somehow. He was always good at that. As if on cue, a large bird flew in, landing on the window sill. Demiyah was clearly expecting it, as she called it over. The bird landed on her arm, and she untied the letter from its leg. Before he knew it, the bird was gone, flying into the distance. As Demiyah silently read the letter to herself, Aoi watched her, curious. A few moments had passed, and Aoi wondered what could have been written on this letter. Finally, interrupting his thoughts, she had answered his previous question. A question of who she was. A Jounin from Sunagakure?
Everything made sense now. Her knowledge of poison. Her fast movement. Her quick thinking. It all made sense now, and Aoi wasn't the least bit surprised with her answer.

D emiyah safely pocketed the note, the news fresh in her mind. The Kazekage had finally passed, and with a little struggle he'd named off his successor. His last words. The very last words on his lips were "Demiyah Akiyama". She could almost see it now. The reaction of the other Kazekage candidates when they realized that the woman who refused to even stand at the ailing Lord's bedside was the very woman he'd chosen for the job. Demiyah had always felt that hovering and sucking up never got you what you wanted. The Sunagakure jounin had done the same thing that she would have done if anyone was dying. She left. Escaped. Distanced herself so that she could grieve in peace and not let the guilt that she knew would be coming show. Red eyes watched Aoi with a blank expression, her mind tumbling with those thoughts. His voice brought her back to reality and she narrowed her eyes at him, crossing her arms over her chest slowly. Her expression was disapproving, but she didn't argue with him. If he wanted to leave in his state and potentially get himself killed, then so be it. The Kazekage couldn't order around a man of another country. It was unbecoming. No. She couldn't start thinking like that yet. She had at least three days before she'd accept her title. There was no need to rush. What little time that was left in this place needed to be enjoyed. There wouldn't be a lot of time for vacations or rest once she returned to the village. "If that's what you wish to do, then so be it. I really can't stop you, now can I?" she asked gently, pressing her bangs out of her face, the scar down through her left eye showing even more. It gave her a wild, untamed look. She'd been scarred so young, but she wore it like a trophy and as a reminder of what she had lost that day. There was a boy in the ground, and darkness in her vision. It was too late to ask for forgiveness now, wasn't it? Wasn't that why her journal was filled with name after name of the people that she'd been unable to apologize to? "However, you can at least relax while you're here. I'm not a threat and I don't intend to become one," she said calmly, refusing to look at him anymore, her gaze set to the side, feigning disinterest. Letting out a level breath, she turned her gaze back to him for a few short moments. "Food. Are you hungry, Aoi?" she asked, his name sounding... right on her tongue. Demiyah's lips pulled up into a beautiful smile, her fingers playing lightly with the crystal necklace that her father had given her. She knew if Emiko was here she'd be flirting up a storm with this blue haired man who had been so helplessly left to die in the forest.

An invite to relax and hang around for a bit? Aoi didn't know how to respond for a moment. Very rarely did he get an invite to stay. Many people were afraid of what he'd do, or how he'd react. His cursed mark made it increasingly difficult for him to make any friends. This situation was completely new to him. Never had he had to rely on somebody else for medical aid. Aoi gazed out of the window, staring into the distance. In his mind, he was alone, with just his thoughts. His memories. However, the very next words to leave Demiyah's lips snapped Aoi back to reality. An offer for... food? Aoi grew more and more uncomfortable. He lifted himself up off of the bed only a few inches, pushing his body up so that he was sitting completely up right. Suddenly, his stomach began to growl. " Food would be great... thank, you." Aoi replied to the question as he turned away from Demiyah out of embarrassment and discomfort. Aoi's stomach let out another growl. It twisted an turned, searching for something within itself to digest. It had been a while since Aoi had eaten. Probably a day or two. He hadn't been given the chance to eat. Tailing a target meant keeping your attention on them at all times. So for Aoi, eating wasn't an option until now. Aoi sat in the bed, patiently awaiting the food that Demiyah had offered him. He couldn't very well finish his mission on an empty stomach, now could he? Tagged: Demiyah AkiyamaOOC: Notes coded by electric of gangnam style

T he young woman smiled softly, looking down at her hands for a few moments. The only other person she'd ever done anything like this for had been her sister. Standing up, Demiyah ran a hand through her hair, watching Aoi quietly for a moment. "You seem uncomfortable," she said softly, looking a little worried for a moment. She then thought better of asking him another question, turning and walking across the room to the kitchen. She didn't have much left, but that didn't matter now. She'd set out as soon as Aoi was better. She couldn't stay here now that she'd gotten the news of her promotion to Kazekage. "I hope bread and cheese is alright. I'm afraid that I'm pretty much out of food and haven't had the chance to go to one of the near by towns for more," she said with an apologetic smile when she returned with a plate with a few rolls and some cheese. She set it in his lap before settling back down onto her chair, cupping her hands in her lap. "Are you sure you're going to be alright to go out and finish your mission so soon? I mean, this wound was meant to be fatal. Whoever you fought was trying to kill you. That poisoned blade can attest," she said calmly, trying not to push too hard. If he wanted to leave soon, that was his choice. As much as she disapproved, she wouldn't be able to stop him if that was his choice. She had enough respect for the man not to coddle him. He did look like he could pretty much handle himself after all. Her only worry was that leg. "When you're done eating we can try and get you up on your feet if you'd like," her tone was kind. It was hard to be reserved and quiet when you'd just saved someones life. Demiyah also couldn't avoid the curiosity that bubbled within her. "Aoi. I'm curious. What is Kumogakure like?" she said with a small smile. She'd silently dreamed of seeing the other lands. Being the Kazekage, she'd be stuck in the village more often than not, so it's not like she could just travel and visit different places. "The only things I know about the other nations are what you can read in books. My work as a shinobi hasn't exactly given me the freedom to go where I want to, after all," she said softly, making idle conversation all while trying to get a few of her questions answered.

As Demiyah stood up, running her fingers through her hair, Aoi observed. He watched as her fingers sifted through her soft, red hair. He couldn't take his eyes away for a moment, swallowing the imaginary, nervous lump that began to build up in his throat. Aoi's face began to turn a light pink, and the skin grew warm for a second. Demiyah had placed the bread and cheese on Aoi's lap. His attention, only for a moment, locked onto her. He couldn't understand why. Her words brought him back to reality, and Aoi's eyes stwitched targets. The bread and cheese sitting on his lap made his stomach growl once more. At this point, Aoi would eat anything. " This is fine..." Aoi responded. " Thank you..." Aoi grasped one of the rolls of bread with his right hand, bringing it up to his lips. Opening his mouth, he bit into it. The outer crust crunched as first as his teeth sunk into the bread, and crumbs fell onto the plate. The chewed up bread raced down his throat as he swallowed it. Another crunch as he bit into it once more, chewing up the next bite and swallowing it before answering her next question. " I'll be fine." he responded once more. " I've been in worse situations." A small pause followed his statement. Lost in his own thoughts once more, he began to recall many of the times that Aoi had been staring death in the face. It was part of his daily life as an ANBU of Kumogakure. Much was expected of him, and failure was certainly not one of them. Aoi raised his head once more, placing the remainder of the roll into his open mouth, shutting it once more, crushing it between his teeth over and over again until it couldn't be recognized anymore. Aoi became curious about her next question. Why Kumogakure? But Aoi decided to play along for now, answering her questions as he saw fit.
"There is nothing special about Kumogakure." Aoi stated. His statement might have been true for one that had grown up and lived in Kumogakure for their entire life. Somebody who had the chance to see the views for themselves every single day. The incredible view of the mountain tops. The blue sky and the view of the sun setting behind those mountains. Not to mention the incredible thunderstorms that could be seen from such heights. To anybody else, this experience could only be described as spectacular. But to Aoi, it was simply nothing special. "It's too high up, and the clouds make it difficult to see sometimes. Sunagakure has much more going for it."

D emiyah's hand kept reaching back to her pocket. As much as she didn't want to leave this man alone, she knew that before long her village would send a convoy to come and retrieve their new Kazekage. Going home wasn't the first priority on her list, but it was her duty nonetheless. Smiling very softly, she looked toward the floor of the cabin, "Your home sounds like it's a very beautiful place. Unfortunately, Sunagakure isn't as much as people make it out to be. It's hot, the sun's always beating down on you, and the sand storms are awful in all seasons," she said with a small chuckle, defending his home more than her own. Lifting her gaze back to him, Demiyah reached back slowly, pulling her hair up into a long ponytail, sighing heavily. "That note from the hawk. It was my call back to the village. Apparently my vacation is being cut short. As much as I want you to stay in bed, I'm afraid I won't be here long enough to make sure you do just that," she noted in a heavy tone, tying her hair up with a dark ribbon. "Duty calls, yes?" she asked very softly, noting that this was the very same reason that he'd wanted to get going in the first place. Duty to his village. It was an honorable concept. Except now Demiyah's duty toward her village had been changed and shifted completely, just like the sands that surrounded Sunagakure. Everything had been settled on her shoulders, and the Third Kazekage had left a great mess for her to clean up. His duty had been to his village, but his notions had been skewed. At least that's what many of the other jounin had been saying in the past few years. Demiyah stood up then, disappearing into the other room. A few minutes later she came out dressed in her normal shinobi combat outfit, her civilian clothing having been stuffed into her pack. She pulled a few things from the table and stuffed them into the pack as well: a black leather bound journal, a few pens, some scrolls, a few books that she'd used to entertain herself. She placed her quiver onto her back, hooking the bow across it before she pulled on soft leather gloves. Tying her forehead protector tightly over her forehead, her long bangs hung over the left side of it. The entire time, her expression had been focused, intense, intent, as if she was ready to shoot anyone down at any point in time. Her features softened as she brought her attention back toward Aoi, stepping up to the side of the bed. "You be careful," she said with a grin, her expression kind. "Oh, and Aoi? Give them hell for me, alright? I would have taken them out had I found you a little earlier. I wanna see you out in the field some day, so don't die on me." Eager to get into the desert before it got dark, she gave her new acquaintance a bow of respect, and then was gone, leaving no trace that she'd ever been in the cabin before. 528 - Aoi Inoue - Sorry if this is a crappy/rushed ending. I'm pretty sure that we both agreed this thread had to end.
