Hello all! I'm writing this short guide to give you a step by step process for learning everything you need to know about the world, creating your character, and ultimately get role playing. This isn't going to be too incredibly detailed but I'll provide links to all of the posts that will be necessary for you to check out as well as some that are a good idea to read through.
So first things first. If you're finding yourself here for the first time and you were never part of our previous project known as Elysium then you might not know what you're getting into. Unison Sign is a statless, free form Naruto role play set in a completely alternate world from the canon series. We will focus on world development and will provide plots and story arcs for you to participate in but the board is sandbox for the most part. Once your character is approved you can basically go where you want, do whatever you want, etc.
With our explanation out of the way, let's get into the meat and potatoes of this post. Most of you will be incredibly familiar with this kind of role play but for those of you that aren't, you'll first need to register an account. Once you're registered you should take a moment to introduce yourself to the community. Both so that we can get to know you and you can get to know us. If you're looking to make a formal greeting you can use the new arrivals section of the board to tell us a little bit about yourself. On the other hand, if you'd rather just say a casual hello and jump right into the conversation then I'd recommend popping into our cbox, currently located at the bottom of the board. For you mobile users, here is the link to it: my.cbox.ws/elysiumrp
As per usual, your next stops should be our posts on rules as well as our site's history. You'll want to know these fairly well to avoid getting into trouble around the board. Knowing our history will also greatly help you when creating your character. As I've stated, this is an alternate world and as such, your knowledge of the Naruto canon will not help you in any way. In addition to our basic history, we also have a board dedicated to all of the AU world's information. This will be updated as time goes on and there is no real necessity to go through everything here yet but it definitely won't hurt and it might help you with designing your character's backstory.
Speaking of your character, once you've familiarized yourself with the history, the rules, and the plot (if we have one ongoing at the time) then you are ready to hop into character creation. The Character Creation Template will be par for the course in most areas. When replacing the "clan" and "village" sections, make sure you refer to our AU material when making your selections. For clans you will also have to get permission to join from the owner or leader of the clan before joining them. Clans are required to be open for other people to join in our rules so this should very infrequently be a problem. As for the rest of the fields, just read the instructions in the example above and if anything confuses you, just refer to approved staff profiles. These will typically be in the correct format so just copy what they do. It is important to note that your character is permitted to have one original kekkei genkai so read those rules and get one up if you're interested in that.
Skipping ahead a little bit to after your character has been approved. All approved characters will automatically be given 8000 ryo to spend on jutsu, items, summons, pets or anything else you can purchase in the future. You are only given the bare essentials for equipment and jutsu to start so you will have to use this ryo to build your arsenal. You can choose to spend all of it or none of it but outside of special events, there is no other way to prepared at the start of your character's life. Before you get to work on any of these applications, you'll want to check the jutsu rules and the item rules. If you're looking to have summons or pets right away you'll have to check those rules as well. Once you have read and understand the rules you can find the templates for jutsu and items at those locations.
Essentially once all of these things are done you are ready to get role playing. If this guide didn't help you or you've still got questions, hop on over to our assistance section and create a thread asking for help.
In addition to these essential threads and locations I've listed above, here are some other places you should know about and eventually familiarize yourself with:
The Plot & Event Board - Sitewide plots and events will be posted here along with large member created plots. Once we begin working on "story arcs" these will also be located here.
The Mission Board - Missions will be one of the primary ways you earn ryo. You can browse through jobs created by staff and other players and join in on any that interest you.
The Member Hub - You've already been to the New Arrivals board, but there are a variety of other boards in the Hub that you can use at your leisure. Forum games, general chat, and a place to post your own stuff can all be found here.
Hopefully this thread has helped walk you through the important stuff. If you feel like I've missed something or you think something should be added to this post please let a member of the staff team know so that we can make this guide as helpful to new members as possible.
Cheers,
Hunter
