biography Kazama was born to Chiyo and Kaburagi in Sunagakure, twenty-five years after the Great Shinobi War. At the time of the war, both of his parents had just graduated from the Shinobi Academy. They were young Genin at the time, eager to help and serve. The academy and their parents, nearly all of Sunagakure in fact, had beaten it into the minds of their children that Sunagakure was powerful. That the Kazekage knew what he was doing dragging them into a war. And that the other three allied nations of Konohagakure, Iwagakure, and Kumogakure should be taught to fear Sunagakure. Naturally, as mere Genin, Chiyo and Kaburagi were unable to participate in the war. But both lost their parents to the war. And by the time they were Chuunin, the teammates were left orphaned in the desolate land. Though it brought them closer, they would never forget what the war had cost them. And this hatred was only further fostered with the appointment of Kane Ogawa as the Sandaime Kazekage. The man who sold his village to Konoha. And with the arrival of their son, Kazama, they instilled these views unto him. Raising him to hate the power hungry nature of Kages, and the systems they'd put in place. As a sort of rebellion towards the ranking system, and their refusal to serve a Kage any further, Chiyo and Kaburagi retired shortly after the birth of their son. And the vowed to never allow him to enter the academy or work as a shinobi on behalf of a Kage. Instead, at the age of eight, Kazama's parents began training him at home. Teaching him everything he needed to know about being a shinobi without ever stepping foot into the academy. His father passed down the art of the sword, and his mother taught him everything she knew about ninjutsu and genjutsu. And despite being on par, if not stronger than the children who were attending the academy, Kazama was bullied for being homeschooled. The children picked on him for being different. Cursing him and his parents for being so disloyal to the Kazekage. This treatment caused Kazama to stop smiling, at least, nothing genuine. And he developed a poker face that only further irked his bullies. Upon his bullies graduation from the academy, Kazama challenged the entire group to a fight on their way home. Of course they accepted, high off the euphoria of graduation and oh so confident in their skills. Kazama's fox-like smirk only served to aggravate them further, and one by one they all charged at him. They refused to even play fair, but Kazama had provoked them knowing this. That afternoon, he single handedly put every Genin on their ass. Several ran off with broken bones, and every bully left with a wounded ego. Kazama did not leave unscathed, however, and returned home to be scolded by his mother as she patched him up. Though something about her tone said she was proud, and Kazama returned her smile with a genuine smile of his own. A smile that, more often than not, was reserved only for her. But there were two others with whom he could smile around: Kaede and Juro. The two were the same age as him, and both had taken the pledge as shinobi for Sunagakure. But they never judged Kazama for his decision not to. And they became his first friends at the age of twelve. Kaede was gorgeous, even in her youth. Kind, determined, and always mothering Kazama and Juro, Making sure they were eating properly and breaking up their fights. Juro was Kazama's best friend and rival. Both in the art of Kenjutsu and in love. Kazama respected Juro and his abilities, and the two would often train together. Always fighting to see who the stronger man was. When Kazama was fourteen, his parents joined a group of Jounin who were planning a coup d'etat. Their goal: the Kazekage's head. On a hot summer's night, the group finally attempted to enact their plan. But one of the members had been a spy, and just as the group had entered the Kazekage's room to find him gone, they were ambushed. The man who had infiltrated their group as a spy was a member of the Akiyama famil, with strong loyalties to the Kazekage. And his clansmen had been prepared to take down the group of rebels the moment they entered, slaughtering everyone. Including Kazama's parents. The traitors were given no funeral, and no graves. Their bodies were burned and their ashes became one with the sand. Kazama was taken in by Juro's family, his poker face never faltering despite the intense rage that was boiling inside of him. Leading his two childhood friends to believe that he was taking the deaths of his parents surprising well. And that he must have been uninvolved. Which was the farthest thing from the truth. Rather than blaming the Akiyama's, Kazama blamed the Kazekage. He blamed the system that lead a clan to so blindly protect a man who had sold their village to another like they were dogs. He immediately began planning his revenge, allowing his hatred to fester, despite the best attempts of Kaede and Juro to ensure he moved on from the whole ordeal. Three months after the slaughter, Kazama was ready to enact his plan. That evening Kaede came over to eat dinner with Kazama and Juro, and the three enjoyed quite a lively dinner. Kazama ensured the last time he spent with his friends - with her - would be something to remember before "going to bed" early. When he was certain his friends and the others in the home would be unaware of his absence, he left in the cover of the dark of night. Heading to the land of the family that had slaughtered his parents. And he made them pay. One by one, clansmen fell to his blade. And with each slaughtered shinobi, he removed their forehead protectors. It was during this slaughter that his doujutsu awakened. Just in time to save him from one of the stronger clansmen, but unfortunately, just in time for Kaede to arrive. Screaming at the horror of the massacre and his glowing, blood red eyes. Unable to control the newly awakened doujutsu, it went wild, clawing through every corner of Kaede's mind. The next morning, Kazama woke up in a cell. His sword removed from his side, his arms and legs bound, and the stench of blood seared into his yukata. During a visit from Juro he learned that Kaede was in the hospital, and that they were keeping her sedated so that she could sleep. It was an awful way to live, and Juro cursed his friend for what he had done. After this visit, Kazama decided it was time he leave. And that night, he used his newly acquired doujutsu on the guard, breaking free from his cage and Sunagakure. Just as he'd made his way to the edge of the village, he was confronted by Juro. The two drew their swords, prepared for one final battle as friends and rivals. Both knowing that only one would walk away. It is a heavy scar that Kazama carries with him to this day, but a necessary one if he is to accomplish his goals. Kazama has been known to swing by the hospital Kaede stays in, though the poor girl is never awake during these rare visits. He always leaves her favorite flowers, but never lingers long enough to be noticed. As he assembles a small group of followers in pursuit of his goals, his visits have grown less frequent as he attempts to sever his attachment. His sights are set on the Kage's, and he won't stop until all five have fallen to his blade. | ooc info ☆ NAME Fumiko ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS Too many to list. o ^ o ☆ FACE CLAIM Hakuoki Chikage Kazama Kazama THIS CHARACTER BELONGS TO Fumiko.
