The Misinformed [Mission] [c]
|
Post by Demiyah Akiyama on Jul 3, 2014 13:56:12 GMT -7
The mission was supposed to be simple. Deal with a few bandits that were terrorizing a small town in southern Wind Country. That was why she'd taken only Shin with her in the first place. Apparently people just loved to withhold details when applying for ninja to do missions. If she would have known that they would be dealing with multiple A-Ranked ninja, then she wouldn't have brought just her cousin. She wouldn't have put him into such a dangerous position as this. He was, after all, only a chuunin. Sighing heavily, Demiyah stared out toward the town, a scowl forming on her features. This man was still talking, trying to make his case for the Kazekage and her protege to remain. Finally growing frustrated with the man's pleading, she put her hand up, urging him to stop talking. "You lied to my shinobi when setting up this mission. You said it would be a few low ranking bandits. Not a group of A-Ranked missing ninja," her voice was stern, her frustration showing ever so clearly on her features. "However, as the Kage of this land, I can't leave this village in a position in which it could be wiped out. Thus, Shin and I have no choice but to stay," she concluded, her arms crossed over her chest. The look on the old mans face gave a thousand thank yous, his relief seeming to transfer to all of the people standing around and listening to them. One could see the tension and worry drain from every single person on the street, even the children started to seem a little more lively. 'They've been so oppressed by these missing shinobi and we haven't known until now. Just what is going on here to have made them so afraid to come for help in the first place? And what, in all the heavens, made this man lie about the gravity of the situation?' she thought to herself, Demiyah's gaze drifting from person to person. She noted the ragged clothing, emaciated children, the look of lifelessness in some of the mothers, as if they were hardly carrying on. The Kazekage swallowed hard, bringing her attention back to the old man. "What exactly has been going on here? You know that we're staying, so you might as well tell us the entire story," she said calmly, levelly. She didn't want to give the impression that she was angry with the townspeople. She wasn't. She was simply frustrated by the entire situation. "I'm sorry, Lady Kazekage, for lying. We don't have enough money to pay for a higher ranking mission-" the man started, cut off instantly by a suddenly passionate Demiyah. "I'm not the type of Kage that is worried more about money than my own people. I don't care if you pay for the mission, you are all my people and it is my duty to protect all of you. Money doesn't matter in situations of life and death. When it comes to my people, nothing is more important than your lives, which have all been so clearly affected by the events that have transpired here. So now, tell me exactly what it is that has been going on here," she spoke with no mirth, only kindness and passion for the people that stood before her. She wasn't cruel and out for her own gain. These people were hurting and they needed protection. They needed relief from whatever it was that was placing such terrible burdens on them. Looking even more relieved, the old man started speaking in a rush, explaining to Demiyah and Shin that these shinobi had come out of nowhere. They'd swept into town and had taken up residence at the local tavern. They were nice enough at first, but that was before they killed the tavern keeper and took his daughter, the barmaid, for themselves. Once they'd taken the tavern, they started to patrol the supply routes into the town. When the next supply had come, they took it all for themselves. The people had tried to fight back, but it'd only ended up with quite a few casualties. It'd been about six months since the missing shinobi had started to take all of their supplies, and the town was now running on just their stores and even they were dangerously low. Everyone had started to starve, and the heat didn't help those with hungry bellies. The town had dropped in population by nearly three-fourths in the last six months. The people that were left were too weak to make a pilgrimage to the next town, and the shinobi were still out there, lurking in the shadows of the sand. Those who'd tried to leave, had been killed already. It was a wonder that the old man had survived the trip to Sunagakure in the first place. Demiyah listened thoughtfully, composing herself the entire time, even though she was boiling with rage. Her gaze then drifted to Shin, "What do you say, Shin. Are you going to help me wipe the floor with missing shinobi?" she asked, her fists clenching at her sides. She couldn't hold back the anger that was welling in her gaze. She was going to take all of them out, even if it was the last thing that she did. She wouldn't take anyone murdering her people. They were her whole reason for life, after all. | ◀ MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS |

He’d been praying when his Kage cousin summoned him. Had this been anyone else Shin would’ve seen them warned with a flick of his sword to their chest, drawing short of piercing them in the vitals he knew too well from his medical training. But Demiyah, whom Shin loved more than anyone else left in the living realm, held a rank that no other could touch and not only in part of her rank. When she called, he came.Shin walked quietly to meet her, listening to the mission, nodding as he watched his cousin, seeing things about the Kazekage that others could not. He knew Demiyah well as she did him. The mission, once explained, seemed easy enough and Shin knew he would be able to practice his more offensive abilities than healing during this. A simple ranked objective that even Shin understood the need for just Kage and Chuunin- anything else would’ve been a gross overkill. Kill. Shin shivered slightly, his lean body, taut with muscles not often seen in a medical nin, quivering as his mind lingered over the word. To kill would be to receive blood. Blood. His hobby, an eccentric one that you could, perhaps, not blame Shin for, had been with him since his family’s slaughter. He had a perverse drawing to the substance and mostly everything about the man, his hair, his profession, his sword, pointed to it. Shin let his cousin know he was eager to start. That was, of course, until the pair reached the small village and an old man and what counted as the rest of the village came to greet them and explained things. You did not lie to the Kazekage, Shin thought dully, his brown eyes resting on the villager. Shin believed that lying to Demiyah was not foolish because Demiyah would crack down hard; in fact, it was completely contrary to that. If you lied to the Kazekage, she could not help you. And Demiyah had been molded like the sands around them to help her people. Shin himself was living proof of that. But he didn’t need to look at Demiyah to know she would listen only for so long till her own frustration broke through. Lying would not work with her. There was much talk between Lady and villager and Shin knew better than anyone to jut into the conversation as many younger and eager types would, instead, he waited. He waited and he thought about the turn in this mission. He knew his skills were that of a chuunin, C-ranked at best, but he studied under the kage, held the Akiyama blood in him, and had the frightening combination of swordsman, medic, and agent of divine in his arsenal. He was blessed to kill just as much as he was to heal. So the feeling inside of Shin was not nervousness (though he was wary, a man not wary of an A-ranked mission was quicker dead than bold) but rather giddiness and a shared rage with what had happened. When his cousin’s voice pierced the air, a well-kept anger brewing underneath them audible only to trained ears, he smiled back, bowing slightly to Kazekage and villager. “For everything I stand for, their blood will run dry into our sands soon enough,” he replied. Lifting his hand up to his neck, touching the strands of prayer beads he had hanging there, brightly colored red against the black of his robes. Shin locked eyes with the old man.“Your town has suffered but will be avenged,” the chuunin’s smile faded as he gained a sense of severity seen on most holy persons when vowing to their gods. “It will not be enough to compensate for your loss, I understand, but perhaps it can bring you and your neighbors a small ounce of peace to know that your Kazekage and Suna shinobi will kill these traitors.”Kill.The black tattoos on Shin’s body ripped as his muscles shuddered again. “I am with you, Demiyah.”

Demiyah didn't waste any time, turning away from the group of villagers, gritting her teeth lightly as she walked. An outlet for her sudden rage would be needed soon. As much as she hated killing, she suddenly thirsted for the look on the enemy's face when they realized she was aiming to take their lives. She could almost feel Shin jittering with excitement at the prospect of eliminating targets. Demiyah knew his attraction to blood well. Despite how much it might unnerve others, Demiyah was never bothered. She'd grown up with him, only three years his senior, and she understood his behavior. What she didn't understand, however, was his relationship with his religion. That was a whole different story when it came to these two.
She started down the path, glancing behind her to make sure that Shin was following her. She wanted to discuss their plan with him before they set out to take care of the enemy shinobi. When she was sure that she was far enough away from the crowd, she turned to face Shin once more. "I want to figure out a plan before we just rush into battle. There's no telling where they are at this current time, but I think that we should go to the tavern," she started, crossing her arms over her chest. "We can establish whether they are there or not, and if they are not, we know that they are likely to return. Traps will be in order," she continued, already forming the plan in her mind.
"We'll need to keep the townspeople away from the tavern, though. I don't want any of them getting hurt by the seals," she noted calmly, staring at the ground, clearly deep in thought. "Our other question is whether we lure them all out at once, or take them out one by one," she said softly, reddish-brown eyes glaring into the dust with a quiet determination. "What do you think, Shin?"
Demiyah did this quite often. She asked for Shin's opinion on the plans, silently entrusting him with their course of action. It was her way of testing him and seeing if he was ready for a promotion or not. Though, she was taking her time with the deliberation. She wanted to see his skills starting to blossom a little more, thus, more often than not, Demiyah let him lead the missions with the rest of Team Kazekage. It was the easiest way to observe his skills, and Demiyah was perfectly happy following an order or two. She didn't, however, refrain from telling him whether his move would be wrong or detrimental. It was rare that his actions were wrong. His mind was very similar in the way it worked to the Demiyah. Up until now, it had been unheard of for Demiyah to put full trust in someone other than herself, but Shin, her adopted brother and blood cousin, had her full support and understanding. She would let him make the calls on this mission, wanting to see how he performed when they didn't have all the information but they still needed to function. | ◀ MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS |

As Demiyah left the old man, Shin nodded at him, giving the villager the assurance he desperately needed during a moment like this. All would be well now that the Kazekage was on the mission. Then, without saying anything, Shin followed his cousin, his closest friend, his sister, into the village. He’d follow her into the fray after that. Shin always would. It was one of the reasons why the main branch of his religion thought it impossible a shinobi with other loyalties than faith could not achieve enlightenment. But then again there was still hope with this new order arriving in Suna…they had approached Shin and it was something he needed to talk about with Demiyah. She respected him and his religion for the longest time but now Shin wanted to know if that was out of formality or genuine interest. A conversation for a different day.For now he would concentrate on the mission, his footfall stopping once Demiyah turned to him. Shin met her gaze easily, his demeanor a balanced mix of relaxed comfort and proper respect. He knew how to work with Demiyah after all these years. And as she spoke, Shin listened, his black robe hanging limply in the windless town. “I agree,” he replied, a single eyebrow rising curiously at the woman’s plan.“I’m not sure if the tavern is the wisest location to fight these bandits, considering their numbers and rank.” Shin folded his hands inside of the cuffs of his robe, flirting with both the look of shinobi and monk. “We’re risking the villagers’ health but if there is no other choice and we have to fight there then we need to be careful. Perhaps one of us distracts or engages the enemy while the other sees the non-combatants out.”Taking a breath, Shin continued. “Or, as you suggested, we bring them out here,” he looked around to the courtyard like area of the street, seeing a good location to fight away from other buildings. There would be possible damage to the road, however, yet that was an easy fix when the Kazekage and her cousin caused the problem in the first place. “I don’t think they’ll come one by one, Demiyah,” Shin answered honestly. “If we pull one target then the rest will follow to aid him.”Shin took another moment to study their surroundings, knowing full well Demiyah was both testing him and giving him a chance to lead. If he suggested anything foolish then she would stop them, but by now in his training he hoped not to make such mistakes. No man is perfect. “I think we go in the tavern and wait for them or scout them out if there already there and then coax them outside.” Removing his hand from his robe, Shin pointed to one of the lesser used alleyways with only a few trash cans as company. “If we need to corner them for seals what about an area like that?”His gaze turned back to his sister, waiting for her analysis.

While Shin spoke, Demiyah's gaze drifted about, taking note of their surroundings. There were various places for the two of the Sunagakure shinobi to trap the rogues. The easiest place would likely be either the open desert, or within the tavern, which to Demiyah's knowledge, was completely overrun by the bandits. Townspeople hadn't been allowed inside for a very long time. Dropping her arms to her sides, she brought her gaze back to her brother, carefully considering his doubts and ideas. Anything they did could end up hurting the townspeople, but they had to do their best to avoid that.
"We need to do our best to avoid pulling any of the townspeople into our battle, but we also cannot bring attention to ourselves. If they realize that you and I are here to stop them, they might take drastic measures," the Kazekage noted, running her tongue along her molars as she debated what their next moves could be. First, she wanted to get a better view of the inn. From where they stood, it looked like it was at least three stories. There was a big chance that there would be an open balcony with a view down into the bar of the tavern and inn. Lifting an eyebrow, she got a sudden idea.
Clenching her fists lightly, she spoke while her eyes lingered on the building, "There are no civilians allowed in the tavern, it seems. They've taken it over. That makes it good for us. This will be your call, but I have an idea." Demiyah let a small smirk cross her features, running her fingers through her long, blood red hair. "I'll set up traps outside of the tavern, in that alley. Then you can go in through one door, and I can go in through the other. If we time it right, and they are where we expect them to be, I can take out at least two of the shinobi at once, then we can use Jinton to drag the remaining three into the desert. It'll be difficult, and we both might sustain injuries, but better us than the villagers, right?"
With that, she decided to back off, letting Shin make any changes and make the final calls on their course of action. She knew that he would make a great decision. Shin's intellect sometimes rivaled that of his sister's, and Demiyah took his ideas, tactics, and words to heart. Demiyah had complete and total trust in her flesh and blood, and she always would. She knew for a fact that Shin was completely and totally loyal to her, and one of Demiyah's greatest fear was Shin being injured and then never recovering. She couldn't watch him go through the same dread and depression that Emiko had. Demiyah wouldn't be able to take that much pain, especially considering Shin's circumstances.
"I'm leaving this decision to you, however. Just tell me what you want me to do, and we'll get to work. I trust you, Shin. We'll eliminate these vagrants even if its the last thing I do," she said with a soft hiss, glaring at the tavern. It would make sense for them to be inside, considering they hadn't been attacked on their way to this town. Maybe they would get lucky and the fight would be over before they knew it. | ◀ MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS |

tag: Demiyah Akiyama words: 408. notes: The amount of this post that is superfluous is insane. Ugg. Also, I would have him set up his own traps but I currently don't have the Ryo to buy the steel wire *shot* But no seriously crap post Talking plans over with Demiyah always helped. It wasn’t that Shin couldn’t form his own strategies, far from it, but when you were assigned to the Kazekage’s personal team and she served as your sensei, you learnt to listen to her tweaks in a plan. Not that his sister was doing such, she seemed to be adding more to the strategy than changing anything he had said. But that was part of it, wasn’t it? The trade between master and student, between equals, between partners. The two Akiyamas were all of these things and more. “Do you think they will recognize you?” he questioned in between the breaks of Demiyah’s talking. “They are bandits, yes, and perhaps from another land so they may not know much about the Kazekage or they could hail from our lands and know your description well. It may make them wary- smarter.” There was a chance they knew of the Kazekage’s cousin as well- Akiyama’s red hair was often a dead giveaway- but their blood was not the only kind that bred crimson locks and with Shin’s attire he looked more like a priest than he did part of a Kage’s relative. But his concerns were answered by the next half of Demiyah’s statement and the chuunin soon quieted as she continued. There was no reason to fear recognition if they followed through with Demiyah’s plan, killing a few and dragging the rest out. “That is possible,” he added, glancing over to the alley. “And our blood is less than these villagers, I agree.” The only part that flagged as a warning to Shin was the use of Jinton. Being only a C-Ranked shinobi, regardless if the Kazekage was his teacher, Shin could only work a few aspects of his Kekkei Genkai currently. The subject almost made the religious man bashful of his own skills. Almost. From the sounds of it, however, Demiyah only wanted to use Jinton for an increase in speed to assist in dragging the bandits out. Even that had risks though if Shin misplaced his step or ran too quickly when he grabbed a bandit. But, he’d been training his Jinton for agility enhancement and wasn't that immature with it. Frankly, Jinton was one of the reasons why he was so efficient as a combat medic in the field.“I agree with your plan,” Shin finally said, knowing he could only rely on his Kekkei Genkai training and the Gods to see him through this. And Demiyah.“Let’s prepare those traps.”

Demiyah nodded. Hopefully this would work. These villagers needed all the help that they could get, and that meant eliminating their targets even if it was the last thing that they ever did. Demiyah would not let her people suffer like this. She was the head of her village and the military for a reason, and it wasn't just because she was a good leader. It was because of her ability to eliminate threats just like this one. She would be damned if people continued to suffer in her country.
Starting forward without another word, Demiyah slipped toward the building, motioning for Shin to follow her until they were ready to go in through the doors. She bit hard into her finger, doing a few hand signs before drawing a symbol into her palm. "Raiton: Kaminari Torappushīru," she noted, pressing her palm against the building by the door, just a foot forward from where it opened. The seal seemed to burn into the wall, turning a color almost as light as the building. She placed a few more seals around the alley way before the seal disappeared from her hand. She then drew a different seal into the same palm, "Suiton: Mizu Torappushīru." Placing these seals next to all of the Raiton ones, Demiyah finally sat up. "If they get out, these should incapacitate them, even if only for a few moments. That'd give us enough time to catch them. Can you instruct all of the villagers to stay out of the alley? Out of the streets even," she noted calmly, wiping her hand of the blood in her palm.
She turned to look out toward the street for a moment. "I'm going to scout around the building and place any more traps in places where they might escape. When you're done clearing the streets, then come back here. Be careful of the traps. I don't want you going down with them," she said calmly, suddenly turning on her heel and heading further back into the alley way to look behind the building. She observed the various escape points, her brow furrowed. She placed a couple of more traps in areas that would be particularly vulnerable for escape, and then checked each door to see if it was locked from the outside. Luckily both the doors they would need to enter through were unlocked. That was a good sign. It meant that they were more than likely inside. Though it also made it more difficult if they were caught.
Retracing her steps, she settled herself in the same alley that she'd left Shin in before, keeping watch at the door, waiting for him to return to her side. | ◀ MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS |
