biography Mitsuru was born a sweet child, sensitive and shy. ...And not quite like the rest of the Tsubasa clansmen. Despite the fact that his bright orange hair and amber eyes marked him as one of the clan on the surface, it was clear that there was something was different inside him. He wasn't as smart or as strong, wasn't as sly or cunning. He was brighter, like a flower that had yet to be picked, and it was as if the hint of darkness that was so characteristic of the Tsubasa had yet to flicker to life in him. But then again, maybe there was something wrong with him on the inside; he simply saw the world differently. And "differently" meant this: he heard color, and saw sound. That wasn't to say that he saw colored sound waves resonating, or that he distinctly heard a certain sound at the sight of someone. It was just that he associated sounds with colors, and sights with sounds. However, this was something that he learned to keep a secret, since it was not only hard to explain, but because it was also something that made people treat him differently. As a child, he was always a bit clumsier than the rest of the clan kids his age. He was slower and not quite as smart, but his parents and the rest of his family figured that he'd outgrow that by the time he entered the academy. However, upon entering the academy, he turned out to be a late bloomer to the extreme. Unlike most of the Tsubasa, he didn't care much for studies and the like, preferring to run around playing with his friends and going off to "explore uncharted areas." With an imagination as big as his, he made the most out of everything, and though his parents often scolded him for "dreaming too much," it was what got him through his days in the academy, both in studies and otherwise. People often joked that he was like an enthusiastic little puppy, and that much was true. However, there was one thing that dampened his positive attitude during his academy days. That was Jiyuu, his prodigious, infamous, scary cousin Jiyuu. Only a year older than himself, the elder Tsubasa attended classes at the academy at the same time Mitsuru did, and whispers of his..."legacy" followed the smaller Tsubasa everywhere he went. He hated those whispers, they were always a terrible black color that reminded him of shadows. And that's what he thought of them as: his second shadow. Rumors of his cousin's monstrous strength, as well as that of a certain incident, cast a curtain of doubt that alienated him from his peers, and there were times when even his teachers would stare at him judgmentally. Of course, such stares soon turned into ones of relief and then frustration, as it took Mitsuru far longer to understand his lessons that most of his classmates. But at least it was something they could work with, so they said nothing. "Scary cousin Jiyuu" was something of an enigma to the younger Tsubasa, and one of the only reasons he took interest because he was so close to his age. The most he knew of him was that he was tall (taller than he was, anyway), "scary," and that his voice almost always seemed to sound like either a grungy purple or a shade of emerald green. Besides that, he knew that Jiyuu was the (scary) head's second son and that his parents didn't seem to want him near the other so much. But of course, the latter only made him all the more curious about his older cousin, but considering he got into enough "trouble" at the academy as it was, it was either heed their warnings or be punished severely, even more severely than when his test scores came back. That didn't stop him from dreaming though, and sometimes he'd wonder what it'd be like just for fun. Sometimes he'd bring it up with his classmates, and they'd gather around and help him out. None of them had actually met the guy, and while most of the kids decided on renditions that portrayed the older cousin as a demon, a handful of others—mostly idiots and eccentrics like the smaller boy himself—were just as curious and they joined him in his fantasies. Jiyuu became an object of fascination to the small group, and in that way, they became jokingly known as the Jiyuu Fanclub, though rumors of them stayed within their classroom and never got out to the world. Like this, Mitsuru's academy days passed peacefully, filled with the usual jokes and class gatherings (both in and outside of academy walls) and last minute scrambles to cram for tests. The boy wasn't popular, per se, but his class was surprisingly small but tight-knit and they all knew each well enough to stay unreserved with each other. Some of them joked that they wouldn't mind staying an academy student forever if it meant they could hang out with each other as often as they did then, and with the exams coming fast, it mostly led to a somber atmosphere. As Genin, there was a good chance they would be grouped up with other students from other classes, and that meant they wouldn't be able to see each other more often. It was around this time that a certain incident occurred within the Tsubasa Clan occurred. Tsukiya, an older cousin and also the heir to the clan, deserted the village and went missing. Though the elder Tsubasa had intimidated Mitsuru at first, it wasn't long before he realized that the man wasn't as scary as he'd thought he was, and the boy had grown to be rather fond of the man. He'd both him with requests for stories and sometimes with help on schoolwork, and each week, if it wasn't one, then it was the other. Because of this, however, Tsukiya's desertion shocked the kid to the core, and impulsive as he was, he almost shot off to join him. Denial plagued his thoughts concerning the situation: Tsukiya was gone simply because he was on a grand adventure, one that he had neglected to take Mitsuru on. He believes that one day, the cousin who told him stories and helped him with schoolwork would come back, and he's stubborn enough to stand by that conviction. Though the incident involving Tsukiya still weighed heavily on his mind, it was eventually pushed back to fit information from last minute exam cramming and practice. And finally, Mitsuru and the rest of his class managed to graduate. The day of his graduation was one filled with not only joy, but tears. And one by one, the class parted ways to start a new chapter in their lives. Mitsuru too, did the same, and after graduating from the academy, he proudly received his clan tattoo. With that, he is proud to be a new shinobi and plans to take whatever throws at him as best as he can. | ooc info ☆ NAME fernweh ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS Kiyoshi Hane Ienori Hoshino Shion ☆ FACE CLAIM HAIKYUU!
