The Kiri jounin didn't really know why he'd gone so far from the village on the first day of his vacation. Knowing he had a few days to himself, he had just left, needing to be off the streets of Kirigakure. He needed a day to himself. It'd only been a little over a month since Hiro had disappeared. Without a word. Without a note. Nothing. The bounty had been placed on his head almost as soon as he'd left. At least Ronin had let the Mizukage that he'd be leaving for a few days. Hiro hadn't, and Ronin couldn't admit to himself that the only reason he was in these parts was to hunt down his missing lover. He wouldn't admit to putting himself through that. Especially after he told himself that he'd be better off without Masahiro.
That was a lie. He'd only fallen deeper into that part of himself that was dark and guarded from everyone else. More and more he'd been thinking of leaving Kiri himself. The only thing that kept him in the village was his students. The one thing he had to look forward to each and every day. He prided himself in teaching them, especially Shimo. The boy had heart and the skill. He reminded Ronin of himself at his age, though he was sure their situations were far from the same. Ronin had been born into a rich family, the youngest of fifteen children, and disowned by his father when he refused to do what the man wanted him to. Run his business. Ronin had no interest.
Ronin glanced around, pulling himself from his thoughts. He'd wandered off the beaten path it seemed, but he didn't mind. He could use a bit of a rest, after all. Finding himself a nice clearing, her started to gather fire wood to make himself a camp site for the night. It was already starting to get dark and it wouldn't be the best idea to exhaust himself by walking through the night. Soon enough he had a nice fire and he'd laid out his sleeping bag, a freshly killed rabbit cooking on the fire. Grey eyes simply stared into the fire, unsure of what he was really feeling, but still constantly aware of the world around him. He sighed to himself after a few long moments, squeezing his eyes shut.
"Tell me why, Hiro. Why did you leave me alone there?" he asked to the crackling fire, a heavy sigh escaping his lips.

The life of a missing ninja, it was something that Hiro did not imagine himself to do. But ever since he reached Chuunin status, he felt that Kiri was more corrupt than what met the eyes. To that, Hiro left the village. Though he missed his lover, he did not want to go back. Besides, at this point, Hiro was sure he would be classified as a rouge ninja. Even if he wanted to go back, it would not be a good idea. Which was also bad, since Hiro was only a C-rank ninja, making him quite weak.
With sorrow weighing heavily on his heart, mainly to him missing Ronin, Hiro continued his adventures through lands away from Kiri. He had already been gone for a month, though time seemed to go by fast, or slowly... Hiro could not tell, it seemed as if time left him, no sense of time remaining. It got to the point where Hiro was not aware of the date or time. Not until Hiro stopped by at a tea stand, did he realize he had left Kiri a month ago. It seems, it was only a week ago. Who would have thought it has been a month?
As night time came, engulfing Hiro into darkness, he realized he needed to stop. Just as he was looking for a place to camp, he noticed a faint glow. After a few moments of observing the glow, Hiro realized it was a fire. Cautiously moving forward quietly, Hiro went to investigate. If he were to camp nearby an enemy, it would be bad. Therefore, investigation was needed. As he slowly approached the camp site by trees, he saw a familiar head, seeing the hair on top of what looked like a Kiri shinobi. Ronin...?!
Hiro could not believe what he was seeing. What would Ronin be doing out here? Surely not to track down Hiro? And Hiro, knowing he was now a rouge ninja, was concerned. What if Ronin was there to bring him back to Kiri? Or worse, to kill the rouge ninja, Hiro?
Deciding that lingering around might be a bad idea, especially if there were more ninja hiding around, Hiro turned away, wanting to leave before Ronin noticed him. But on the other hand, just as Hiro was going to leave, he thought of Ronin. Ronin... Ronin... it was the one thing that constantly crossed Hiro's mind. The only thing that Hiro cared for. What if this was the only chance Hiro got to get back in contact with his lover? But what if Ronin disowned Hiro and was out to harm Hiro? After all, Ronin was an elite Jounin. If Hiro had to fight Ronin, he would lose. But on the other hand, if anyone were to bring Hiro back in to the village, he would rather it be Ronin.
With all these conflicting thoughts going through his head, Hiro finally made a decision. Taking a deep and quivering breath inside, Hiro tentatively approached nearer towards the fire. Once Hiro was a few feet behind Ronin, hidden behind a tree and rock, Hiro spoke softly. "So tell me what a high ranking Jounin is doing faraway from Kiri, and with no team..." Hiro's voice was strong and confident, but as he ended the end of his thought, his voice trailed off.

He knew that voice. He knew it all too well. For the first long moment, it almost broke his heart to hear it again. Never had he thought that he'd ever see Masahiro again, and he certainly hadn't figured out what he would do if he did. Staring hard at the flames in front of him, his first action was to grab both of the hilts of his blades, his teeth gritting out of sudden but well placed anger. How could Hiro have even thought of leaving the village without saying a word to him? He would have gone with him if he'd been given the choice, but now he was stuck and alone. Pushing himself to his feet, Ronin slowly turned in the direction of the voice, grey eyes closed off and void of any emotion.
"That's none of your business... Masahiro," Ronin noted calmly, his eyes slowly changing color, taking on a bright green appearance, two, thin black lines circling the pupil. "And as far as I'm concerned, you're a criminal approaching one of the shinobi tasked with bringing you back to the village. The Mizukage didn't take well to you leaving in the first place."
Still gripping the hilts of his long blades, he started to take a few steps forward, his gaze still filled with anger. No one but Masahiro ever saw the emotions that Ronin held. The Kirigakure jounin was increasingly reclusive as of late, and it was all because of him. He'd left without a word. Ronin had thought that he'd died for the first few days, especially when he didn't come visit. It was only after the Mizukage announced that he'd left the village that Ronin had felt the slight twinge of anger and the overwhelming grief that came with being left alone, especially when Hiro knew how Ronin felt.
"I know that you didn't like it in the village, Hiro, but why did you have to leave without saying anything?!" he suddenly blurted out, "You left me there completely alone! Do you know what that feels like?! Do you know how much pain you've caused me?!" Ronin knew it was a little preemptive, but he couldn't hold his anger and emotions back this time. He was an open book when it came to his lover, what was the point of hiding what Hiro likely knew already.
Ronin forced himself to stay still then, suddenly feeling uneasy. He didn't want Hiro to walk away again. Not this time. Ronin wouldn't let him go until he explained himself. He wouldn't let his lover go until he knew everything.

Hiro sighed and rubbed the back of his head, stepping out into the open, facing the man that Hiro still loved. "Apprehend me then. If anyone were to do it, I would rather it be you. You were and still are the only one I trust. So if you think it best to take me back... I-I'll come q-quietly." Hiro stuttered as he finished his sentence. Truth was, Hiro knew it was no laughing matter of what he did. Being a rouge was a serious offense. Because of that, Hiro actually feared going back to Kiri. On the other hand, Hiro would do it if Ronin thought it best.
If there was one thing Hiro regretted, it was leaving the village without telling Ronin. Hiro had gone to Ronin's house, but just as Hiro was ready to knock on the door, he could not bring himself up to doing it. His heart had fluttered terribly, and Hiro knew that if he confided in Ronin that he was leaving the village, it was likely that Ronin would have stopped Hiro. With that on mind, Hiro had left the village with a heavy heart. Since then, Hiro wished he had at least gave one last goodbye kiss.
As Hiro listened to Ronin on his next words, tears started to swell up in his eyes. "Ronin... I do understand. I have felt the same pain of loneliness. I never meant to hurt you this much, I love you too much. And it pains me to see you in pain. However, I do realise that my actions would have resulted in this. I am sorry for that. I truly am." Hiro took a slight step backwards, in fear of Ronin's anger. If Ronin really wanted to, he could annihilate Hiro in a moment. Hiro knew that normally, Ronin would never hurt Hiro. But after what Hiro did, he would not be surprised if Ronin resented him now. "Again Ronin, I'll leave it up to you what you do with me. If bringing me back to Kiri will help ease your pain, then do it." This was the only way Hiro could start making it up to Ronin.

Tsk. Ronin just stared at the man he once, and very affectionately called his lover. All he felt at that moment was rage that Hiro had abandoned him like that, leaving him utterly and completely alone. Trust was important to Ronin. It was one of the most sacred things in any of Ronin's relationships. When you broke that trust, you could expect to recieve a cold and complacent Ronin the next time you saw him. However, because of the gravity of what Hiro had done, Ronin wasn't cold. No. He was angry. He was furious. At that moment, he was half tempted to force Hiro back into Kirigakure. He wanted to see the look on Hiro's face as the Mizukage stood before him and passed his sentence onto the missing ninja.
However, Ronin's heart wasn't cruel enough for that. As much as his mind pushed, his heart forced a different issue. With the anger, also came the desire to simply throw his rage away and pull Hiro into his arms like he would have under normal conditions. But these weren't normal conditions. Ronin was a Jounin of Kirigakure, and Hiro was a Kirigakure missing ninja. As far as Ronin was concerned, his biggest priority should have putting his feelings aside and putting Hiro in chains. He wouldn't do that, though. If Ronin knew one thing about Hiro, it was that the shinobi didn't like the way that the system worked, and he'd wanted out before he was pulled in too deep. The last thing he needed was to end up dead. Ronin didn't want that either and he was sure that's what would end Hiro for good if he did.
"Shut up," Ronin said harshly, glaring at Hiro, gritting his teeth. "At least you knew you were abandoning me," he snapped, crossing his arms over his chest, anger clearly showing on his features. "You can rest easy, I've no intention of returning you to Kirigakure. I'm not that cruel," growls softly, looking off to the side. "And don't you dare patronize me about how you were in so much pain. You're the one who chose to leave, not me."
With that, Ronin stepped forward, toward Hiro. "Are we going to visit or waste our time arguing? Come sit down," he muttered, reaching forward and taking the other man's hand, his heart racing slightly as he did, and pulling him toward where Ronin had been sitting before. "I... want to know if you've been alright. Have you had any trouble? Are you eating well? Do you have enough money?" he was suddenly worried for his lover, even though it was clear his anger hadn't faded. After being left like that, it was normal for him to be angry, but that didn't mean he didn't care about Hiro. He still wanted what was best for him, and if being outside of the village was best for the shinobi, then so be it. | ◀ MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS @mellolily2 |

Hiro looked away from Ronin as he spoke. Too ashamed to face Ronin, Hiro's eyes darted into the far distance, purposely keeping his gaze away from Ronin. Still, even if Hiro tried not to look at Ronin, he could not stop his eyes from gazing over Ronin from time to time. Hiro knew Ronin was angry, and Hiro could not blame him. Hiro was even angry with himself.
Reluctantly, Hiro allowed Ronin to pull them to the fire. At first, Hiro did not reply to Ronin for a few long minutes. "Why are you so concerned? You have every reason in the world to despise me right now. To cut all ties. Yet, you do not. I do not need fake concern, Ronin. I have known you long enough to know your anger towards me right now. So acting worried about me will not change that fact." Hiro paused, he was starting to ramble a bit. "Seriously, Ronin. Please tell me what I can do to make this better. I know it will take a lot to build up our relationship again, if that is even possible. But I cannot do it if you do not tell me what you want. I would do anything just to... I don't know... get rid of your anger towards me." For once, throughout a lot of this conversation, Hiro looked Ronin straight in the eyes. Allowing his eyes to become a portal to his emotions, showing how determined he was to make things right.
Hiro kept his own hand in Ronin's hand, feeling the warmth engulf him. It was a warmth that was greatly missed, and it always put Hiro in good spirits. Even now, Hiro could feel his pulse slowing down, as he tried to calm himself. Allowing himself to be swept away by Ronin's aura.

'Stupid,' Ronin told himself, slowly pulling his hand away from Hiro's. He simply stared at the fire for a few long moments. He didn't get it, did he? Ronin would always care, no matter how angry he was about Hiro's sudden abandonment. Hiro had him so messed up and so out of character. It was like the other man had never left and Ronin's walls had come down too quickly for his own good. However, after a few moment, Ronin composed himself, leaning his elbows on his knees, his fingers twined in front of him. He refused to look at Hiro, though he spoke to him.
"You also know me well enough to know that it's not fake concern. At least you should, Hiro," Ronin said calmly, letting out a heavy sigh. "I'm angry. I'm pissed. I'm fucking furious that you left, but that doesn't mean I don't worry about you. Now knowing whether you were alive or dead out here was one of the hardest things to live through. One of the most painful things. You're a missing ninja. You're hunted constantly. You have no protection other than your own skills. I have every right to worry and be concerned for your safety. I'm not going to act as if nothing ever happened between us. All or nothing, remember?"
With that, the Kirigakure jounin fell silent for a long moment, simply staring at the fire for a little longer. Damnit. He was stupid. He shouldn't have said anything. He wasn't supposed to care about a missing ninja and his personality normally would have let him kill the man without a second thought. But Hiro was different. He was different from almost everyone else in Ronin's life. He couldn't be as indiscriminate as he usually was because in hurting Hiro, he was hurting himself. Killing Hiro would mean killing a part of himself that he wasn't ready to let go of quite yet.
"Will you shut up, Masahiro?" Ronin suddenly snapped, turning to look at the missing ninja once more, no emotions on his features anymore. "I'm never going to stop being angry with you. Never. You left without saying a word. I don't take lightly to those who decide that they can play games with my heart like that. You'll be forgiven when and if I ever decide to, but right now, you're in no position to ask for it. So just shut up, sit here, and let me enjoy the few moments of peace that I can actually have with you before you have to run along and leave me behind again. Got it?" he said bitingly, looking away once more, his muscles tense like he was ready to pack up and leave at any time. | ◀ MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS @mellolily2 |
