The direct block had taken Cheng off his guard. He hadn't expected this kind of counter. As his punch missed it's target the force of his strike through him off balance. This wasn't even the worst part of the situation. He had been too preoccupied with coming up with a second counter attack to maybe catch his Kage off guard when he was rammed hard in the gut by a knee strike. The force of the strike lifted Cheng up off the ground. His eyes rolled and everything went black for a moment. It was only for a second but by the time his mind started to process information again he was already headed for the ground. He hit it hard and he laid there for a moment, still regaining his senses. Once he was fully operating again he pushed off the ground with his good side and took a couple of steps away from the Mizukage. The pain in his lower abdomen burned but it was hardly anything next to his shame for not even being able to land a hit.
As he stood there it occurred to him that it was futile. If he wasn't even able to hit Kazu, he definitely was not going to knock him from his spot. Perhaps he would have a better chance making a counter attack. He doubted it, but if rushing in wasn't going to work he would need to try a different approach. This time he took off running a circle around the Mizukage. He would launch a low kick, expecting it to be avoided or blocked, and then use the force from his initial movement to follow up with a counter strike.
After making it to the other side of the Mizukage he made a beeline for him. As he approached dropped his body towards the ground and performed a sweeping kick with his right foot.

During moments like these, Hara kind of wished she had brought a snack. Things were getting really intense, like a great theater act. When the poor boy kissed the ground, the trickster had to stifle her giggles. Oof, that had to hurt~ However, that didn’t last long as the Genin proved he still held surprises, namely the fact that he wasn’t done. Wow... He’s actually getting up? Now that was some impressive determination. It was the kind of stuff that made the difference in the world, like during Chunin Exams. Oh yes, this would be in the boy’s file, near the top: Dangerously stubborn and sturdy.
While watching the fighters launch into another brawl, the Kitsune wondered why the boy didn’t even try to use Ninjutsu. She was pretty sure the Kage had allowed that. Was he really that determined to beat him with Taijutsu alone? How silly. If she had been on the same spot, she would’ve already dipped deep into her reserves of jutsu and other sneaky tricks. Fair play didn’t belong in the Shinobi combat after all, even if it was just friendly sparring. Her pondering sparked a tiny theory. Maybe the boy didn’t have any Ninjutsu? It was a possibility... Hm, another useful note for the report and something to test later...
The disguised kunoichi tiptoed along the branch to get a different view. She didn’t want to miss anything, especially now that the boy seemed to be changing his approach. Well, it was just a small change, but still. If nothing else, she could’ve soon enjoyed another amusing pratfall. Or maybe she might catch a Kage making a mistake.

Kazu's block had worked perfectly. Everything had gone exactly as planned. Kazu had forced Cheng off balance, opening him up for an attack. And just as Kazu had planned, he successfully landed the counter strike. Kazu's knee dug itself right into Cheng's gut. He could feel the flesh wrap itself around his knee as Kazu forced it deeper and deeper in. The entirety of Cheng's weight was resting upon Kazu's knee as he lifted Cheng into the air, feet off the ground. Finally, pulling his knee back, Cheng collapsed to the ground. Oops. Maybe I over did it a bit.
Cheng stood right back up, stubborn as could be. Kazu watched him stand, pleasantly surprised. This Genin was stubborn. Very stubborn. But it made Kazu happy. He felt proud knowing that one of his Genin was so determined to accomplish one simple task. Even if it was worlds beyond his reach. Kazu understood completely that asking Cheng to move him from his spot was a ridiculous task. That wasn't the point, though. Kazu knew that in order to succeed in the Chuunin exams, this is the kind of mind set a Genin would require. The Chuunin exams were demanding. Incredibly demanding. If you began to doubt yourself even for a moment, there is no way you'd survive. At this point, Kazu had learned exactly what he needed to.
Before Kazu knew it, Cheng was back at it again. Running around Kazu, circling him.
"Let's stop here, Cheng!" Kazu shouted, but he was too late. Cheng had already moved in for the strike. A low kick. It sweeped towards Kazu's legs, near the ground. Instinctively, Kazu jumped into the air, in order to avoid the kick. Kazu's insticnts took over once more, and as he floated in the air for a brief second, Kazu's right leg moved forward towards Cheng.
Damn it... I can't stop.

OOC: Since your Taijutsu is A-Rank, I get to count this for two training threads, correct?
As he expected, a dodge. Cheng was mentally prepared for it but physically he wasn't sure he had the skills to actually block a kick from the Kage. If history was any indication, he did not. Also, at the last second he had heard Kazu call off the session so his priority now was to get out of the way of this strike alive. In his head this was again, doable. But his body was hurt and his reaction time was sloppy because he had to change his plan on the spot. The only thing that played in his favor was that Kazu had dodge the attack instead of blocked it. His momentum was still there.
He spun quickly, using his hand as his center of balance. From here he transferred into a rolling position, launching himself forward and finishing with a jump up to his feet. He pivoted on the spot to face the Kage who did not have a scratch on him. Despite this though Cheng had finally been able avoid an attack. Perhaps even in this short session he had achieved a higher level of taijutsu then when he had started.
He was panting but he quickly worked to regain his composure. He bowed politely at the Mizukage and then looked back up at him, waiting for him to give his next instruction.

Hara was most amused by the events she had got to see. Not only did she get a lot of good preliminary info on her target, but she had managed to see the Mizukage in action as well. It was just sparring, true, but even by that she could tell this Kage was no pushover. Maybe those rumors about him being a man of peace weren’t all true... Hm... When the Kage suddenly announced the end, the spy flashed another Cheshire cat grin.
It was now or never.
While the sparring duo pulled off the finishing moves, Hara dropped down behind the tree. One quick Henge no Jutsu later, the black cat was gone and a little girl took its place. She didn’t seem older than six or maybe seven. Her blonde hair spiked bit messily, with two long bangs framing her face and her amber eyes gleamed with childish wonder. As the finishing touch, she was wearing a simple, black dress with white eye symbols lining the hem. She was well aware of the striking resemblance to her adult form, which was exactly why she had chosen this disguise. It was all about getting to play mind games, now and in the future.
The disguised kunoichi carefully peeked from behind her hiding place. Like a shy child, she inched closer little by little. And just like any child from the village, she wasn’t going to interrupt the Mizukage. She just stood there, staring quietly and immediately glancing away if anyone looked at her. When there was a suitable moment and she wasn’t interrupting anything, she finally spoke up. "That was... so cool~ You get to train with the great Kage... You must be sooo strong~" Acting all star-struck, she stood on her tiptoes and gave Cheng the most adorable look. Carefully, she pretended to search for the words. "Um, oniisan..." Heh, many young men were suckers for the whole big bro routine.
"Could you... show me your best technique? Like... Do you know any Ninjutsu?"

The leg Kazu had swung at Cheng had missed. Kazu had finally missed a strike. He couldn't help but feel a little proud for his apprentice now. A smile creeped across his face before Kazu's feet could touch the ground. A tiny cloud of dust kicked up from the ground as Kazu's feet touched down, completing the dodge. He observed Cheng standing back up, out of breath and panting. Kazu stood there, his heart rate had barely increased. Kazu responded to the respectful bow with a soft smile. His eyes narrowed slightly as his mouth stretched out. A soft breeze moved his hair oh so slightly, relieving his skin from the awful heat from the sun for only a brief second. " Good job!" Kazu praised, still smiling softly. " Head back to the village. There is an escort mission I think would be perfect for you!" Kazu gave the Genin his final instructions before preparing to head back to the village himself. Before Kazu and Cheng could leave, a little girl came out of nowhere. Kazu looked at her, caught off guard by her statement. She was here this whole time? How did I not sense her? Why is there a little girl so far from the village? Kazu stared at her for a moment as she asked her question to Cheng, curious to see his best technique. Innocent curiosity coming from an adorable little girl. Kazu walked on over to her, falling onto one knee to bring himself down to eye level with her. He placed his hand on the top of her head, his fingers disappearing into the messy blonde hair. " It's a little dangerous for you out here, little girl." Kazu stated, still staring directly into the little girl's eyes. " Where are your parents? I bet they're worried! You should head home!" Kazu softly spoke to the little girl. His smile was large and his eyes soft. An outer appearance of a kind Ksge worried about a little girl who had wandered out too far. However, Kazu's expressions deceived. He was suspicious. How could he not be? A little girl this far out of the village? Kazu gazed into the little girls eyes longer, trying to get as much information as he could this way. " Do you need me to take you back and find your parents?"Tagged: Cheng Zu Hara KinOOC: Yes, Cheng. Cheng was about to head back and get some rest before applying to take that mission the Mizukage was talking about when a small girl came out from the treeline. At first he was caught off guard but once he saw that she was just a civilian interested in seeing ninjutsu he was back at ease. He sensed a slight tension from Kazu though; But perhaps it was his imagination or just a sense of worry for the girl. He was responsible for everyone in the village after all.
He watched as the Kage walked over to the girl and spoke with her, asking her about her family. It was something Cheng hadn't even though of at first. Had he ever been out late as a child his parents would have had no thought about it. They would have believed him to be out training and they'd have waited days before assuming something was wrong. But he had heard that civilian parents were a little bit different. Obviously if this young girl was unable to perform any jutsu or defend her self with some other technique it would be very dangerous for her, even this close to the village. The Land of Water was unforgiving in some parts, and a training ground where two shinobi were fighting was pretty dangerous.
Standing behind the Mizukage was all he was willing to do at this point. He know he had been instructed to go back to the village but that was before this innocent young girl had shown up. Cheng decided to wait to see if his instructions would change before really heading back to the village.

Much to Hara’s silent disappointment, the Mizukage got between her and the target. When the man knelt down, she already guessed the Genin wouldn’t even speak up anymore, much less show off. It was kind of funny though... Her disguise had worked bit too well. The Mizukage seemed genuinely worried for her safety. Heh, protecting your village without even realizing it... What a troublesome man you are, Mizukage... However, it didn’t matter anymore. She had all she needed, down to the target’s name. Anything else would’ve just been extra, simply confirming her suspicions. Now, it was just a matter of slipping away...
However, all the plotting that went beneath the mask was hidden by a childish smile. Hara didn’t even hesitate with her answer. Lying was her second nature after all. "Mama and papa are busy with work, so I went on an adventure!" Perfectly innocent and proud of her independence, she was like any child. With a pink, little blush, she then glanced around and muttered. "But I got lost and now I’m kinda tired..." And with that, an amusing little idea snuck into her mind. Many would’ve called her mad for just thinking it, which pretty much sealed the deal. She absolutely had to try. Her pride as a trickster was at stake here.
The little girl motioned the village leader closer and leaned up to him. This next one was for his ears only. After brief, embarrassed fidgeting, she whispered shyly. "Um... Can I get a piggyback ride back to the village? Pleeeease, Mizukage-sama~?" She pleaded and reached up with cute grabby hands. It would’ve taken a stone-cold heart to deny the request of a small girl, so confident she was in her acting skills. The words came straight from the heart after all. If this succeeded, it would’ve crowned her mission.

With no hesitation, the little girl responded. Kazu listened to the little girl's story intently. It sounded like it could be real, but Kazu was always one to be cautious when it came to suspicious behavior. Right now, to Kazu, this girl was the epitome of suspicious. " Well, you poor little girl!" he responded to her story, smiling on the outside. " Maybe we should get you back home!" Kazu leaned in closer, just as the little girl asked. His face remained soft and warm as he conversed with the little girl. The little girl whispered something to him, fidgeting and nervous. It was as if she were embarrassed to ask him for a piggy back ride. Kazu slowly rose up, standing tall. His face still resonated kindness, but inside of his head the gears were turning. A piggy back ride? What if this little girl isn't who she says. I don't know enough about the situation yet. I could get myself killed if I'm not careful. Definitely need to stay on my toes.
"I'm sorry, little girl!" Kazu apologized, the smile still wide as ever. "My back is sore from training so hard with my friend here! I hope you can forgive me!" Kazu bent over, taking the little girl's hand. "Let's go find your parents." Kazu pulled the little girl lightly as he began to walk towards the village.

Sadly, Hara didn’t quite get her absolute victory. Hm, perhaps it was better this way. At least now she didn’t have to worry about the future temptations to taunt a village leader due to a piggyback ride. The corners of her mouth slowly curled into a pout and tiny beginnings of tears formed in her eyes. "Aw... Okay..." She let the Kage take her hand and lead her along, just like a well-behaved kid. For the whole walk, she had to resist the urge to reveal her intentions, no matter how much it would’ve amused her. Oh, Mizukage, if only you knew... Mufufufu...
When they arrived to the village, Hara immediately seized her opportunity. "Mama!" She suddenly slipped from the Mizukage’s grasp and darted down the street. After nimbly dodging and weaving past the crowd, she tackled and hugged a woman wearing a similar dark dress. "Mama! I missed you!" The woman knelt down to return the hug before waving to the Mizukage. "I hate to bother you, Mizukage-sama, but..." With a pink blush, she scratched the back of her head and tried to find the right words. ...But not for a thank you. "There must be some sort of mistake... She... isn’t one of mine." And that was the cue.
The little girl was no longer there.
Now the poor bystander was even more baffled. "So, if it’s not too much trouble, could you... Huh? Where did she go?" It must’ve happened just after the hug, during that brief moment of distraction. A trail of small footprints led into a nearby alley before ending without a trace. It was like the culprit had vanished into thin air. On a nearby rooftop, a dark shadow smiled at the confusion down below. "Farewell... Mizukage-sama... And with a ghastly giggle, she was gone.
((Hara exits the scene. Sorry for skipping you, Cheng, but I figured that you were in a tough spot to post and I simply had the perfect opportunity to end it here.))
