It felt like it had been ages since Kazu had felt the sun's powerful rays on his white flesh. Small, puffy white clouds floated gracefully in the sky, dancing about with the light breeze that kept Kazu's skin cool from the sun's rays. Kazu walked casually through the open field of bright green grass. Lining the edges of the field was a forest, dense with large, green trees. It was nearly impossible to see through the shadows of the trees and into the forest. It was as though the darkness was trapped within. A prison of pure darkness. The last few days have been rough and exhausting for Kazu. First, the two Iwa Jounin that he fought and killed back in Amegakure. The one prick who had been picking on the girl he had met, Fumiko. The other who tried to assassinate him, in a suicidal attempt to avenge his fallen brother in arms. Kazu had shown them no remorse. They suffered the eternal wrath of Kazu. In addition to that, somebody had tried to have him and the other four Kage killed. The summit had been crashed by an unknown assailant, or a group that was clearly targeting the five of them. Kazu wasn't impressed. Seiren was no longer traveling with Kazu. Kazu had sent her on a mission during the trip home. Kazu was now traveling alone. Or rather, he believed he was alone. Kazu wasn't aware of a certain little girl that he had met during his trip that was now following him. At least at first. Kazu continued to casually wander through the field, taking his time and enjoying the bright sun before he returned to the misty village of Kirigakure, a village that was surrounded in a heavy mist and was absent of sunlight much of the time. It wasn't often that Kazu could get out into the sun and enjoy weather such as this. As Kazu wandered through the field, his intuition kicked in. Kazu came to a halt. He had a feeling. A feeling that somebody was watching him. No, that wasn't quite right. A feeling that he was being tailed. Who was there? Was it the assassin that had tried to murder him and the others? Or was this a different assassin? No. Kazu focused, listening to the tiny foot steps. They were familiar to him. They brought an image to mind almost immediately. A small, young girl, with long blonde hair and a red ribbon. Her cold, tiny hands pressed up against his cheeks as she curiously observed him. " You can come out now." Kazu stated, loud enough for his stalker to here. " I never expected to see you this soon, Fumiko!" Kazu hadn't even turned to face her direction yet. He left his back open to her, waiting for her to come out of the shadows. Tagged: Fumiko Masaki Ryuutarou SuohOOC: Notes CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

GIVE ME MILES AND MILES OF MOUNTAINS AND I'LL ASK FOR THE SEA ❝ "S-So...fast..." the young shinobi whispered through haggard gasps of air. In comparison to the Mizukage and his female escort, she was incredibly out of shape. It only made matters worse that they appeared to be in a hurry as they darted out of the collapsing building and out of Amegakure. It wasn't until they were roughly two hundred kilometers outside of Amegakure's gates that Kazu's escort disappeared from his side, and his pace slowed to a walk. The change in pace was welcomed, and Fumiko released a sigh of relief she wasn't aware she'd even been holding. Running was awful. Much like the rest of her physical abilities, which were non-existent, she was awful at maintaining long distance running. Especially at such high speeds. It was a vital flaw for a shinobi, but whoever said she cared to be one? As her bodied calmed down from the unexpected burst of exercise, the small blonde weaved through the trees to the left side of the road. She remained a good five paces or so behind Kazu at all times, trailing him in silence. To be truthful she was curious how long it would take him to notice her. She wasn't exactly someone who stood out. Each step she took was soft and quiet, the taps of her shoes hitting the hard earth no louder than the volume of her voice. "You can come out now." he spoke, coming to a halt in the middle of the road. He kept his back turned to her - What a vulnerable position for a shinobi to put himself in - and made no comments as to whether or not he knew who was tailing him. From what she'd witnessed in Amegakure, he was either that confident in his abilities, or he'd known it was her from the beginning. "I never expected to see you this soon, Fumiko!" Or perhaps it was a bit of both. "Good afternoon, Kazu-sama." she said, slowly stepping out from behind a tree. Ah, was that proper? It was nearing the evening, but the afternoon had not quite ended yet. How tricky. As she made her way to his side (since even she could understand that remaining behind him was rude), she took in his appearance once more. His Kage robe and hat still bore the dirt and blood stains from their encounter earlier that afternoon. But the state of his appearance had only gotten worse since she'd last seen him. What should have been a head full of pure, white locks was turned an ash gray. And a similar dust clung to his wet cloak. Her tiny hand reached out, clenching on to the wet fabric of his cloak with a frown. "It's gotten worse," she said, her next set of words settling so uncomfortably on the tip of her tongue. Her stay in Amegakure had come with an onslaught of so many foreign emotions. It was bittersweet; her curiosity craved for more while another part of her shunned the unfamiliar. Though the latter always lost. "I...wanted...to see you."tags: Kurayami, Masaki, Ryuutarou Suohooc: wrote this while I was sleepy so I really hope I caught most of the typos and that it makes sense! " Good afternoon, Fumi!" Kazu replied with a bright smile on his face. The young Fumiko approached Kazu, stepping out of the shadows. Standing at his side, Fumiko took notice to his dirty and unprofessional appearance. It was unsightly of Kazu to even walk aroundi in the light of day as he was, but Kazu paid no mind ot it. It didn't matter to him. He was a shinobi, just like everybody else. He was bound to get a little filthy every now and again. Besides, the important meeting had already happened. He was in the presence of four other kage, and he was a mess then, too. So, what did it matter? A few blood stains, some mud, and ash. Well, the blood stains might have been a bit much. Kazu felt the slight tug on his "white-ish" robes has Fumiko grasped them with her tiny hands. She seemed to be genuinely concerned about it. It only reminded Kazu of his time in Amegakure, when he protected her and killed the two Iwa Jounin hunting her down. Even then, she seemed to be concerned about his filthy appearance. Kazu really didn't mind. It may have been unsightly, but he was only doing his job. The life of a shinobi was a dirty one at that. Kazu spun his head, gazing down at Fumiko from the side. "Bah! It's nothing. Don't worry about it, little Fumi!" Kazu spoke to her with a kind voice, paired with a bright smile. Fumiko's next words struck Kazu with surprise. This girl always seemed to be so... emotionless. As though she cared about nothing but satisfying her own curiosity. Kazu had to think about it for a moment. Did she really just...?
That she did. She just told him that she wanted to see him. While shocking to Kazu, he had a warmer feeling inside now. It had been a while since he had heard those words uttered from anybody. A long time. It was nice for a change. To feel wanted. Kazu smiled, this time another genuine smile. All the same, this could work out to his advantage. Perhaps she was willing to follow him all the way to Kirigakure, and join him. Assist him on his ultimate quest. Kazu took a step forward, signalling Fumiko to walk with him.
"Will you coming to Kirigakure with me?" he asked. "You're more than welcome in my village!" Kazu spoke so genuinely, and his smile hadn't left his face yet, even for a second.

GIVE ME MILES AND MILES OF MOUNTAINS AND I'LL ASK FOR THE SEA ❝ He was...smiling. It was bright and warm like the sun that shone above them. Betraying what one might expect of the Kage from the Mist. A village cloaked in a veil of mist that she could only assume was freezing cold. Combined with clouds it likely shielded the village from any warmth the sun could offer. Perhaps that was why the residents of Kirigakure had become notorious for their flat expressions. And perhaps that was why a man who seemed to smile so rarely could smile with ease right now. Though these were only assumptions. Fumiko had only known Kazu a short while. And she knew nothing of Kirigakure but what she'd read in books or asked of Masaki-sensei. When he spoke again, his grin followed the nickname he'd given her, 'Fumi'. She felt a twinge of warmth at the word, and before she'd realized what the shifting of her cheek bones meant, she was smiling too. It was no where near the bright, carefree smile of the man who stood before her. But it was there. And the small shift in her facial expression was worth a thousand words. He seemed taken aback by her sudden proclamation. And to be honest, she was too. The sentence had been so uncomfortable as it sat on her tongue, demanding an out. But she'd felt no relief when she'd finally released the words into the world. In fact, she felt worse. Her breath caught in her throat and her stomach fluttered against her will. They were symptoms of nervousness, or so she'd read. The young blonde had never had a reason to be nervous of anything in all her life. But there she stood, her grip on his coat tightening as she awaited some sort of response. Her violet gaze falling to her hand, not daring to look up at him. It was a cowardice she'd never known, but it seemed only right to embrace it. That is, until the soft tug of his coat being pulled away from her demanded she look up. He was walking now, and she obediently followed after releasing her grip on his coat. "Will you coming to Kirigakure with me?" he asked, causing Fumiko's head to jerk upward as she craned her neck to meet his gaze. Side by side, the height difference was incredibly apparent. And though she looked so small next to him, she'd never felt bigger in all her life. "Mm," she hummed softly, nodding a yes as her only response as her hand found it's way back to his coat, clutching it. The two continued on like this for a while longer. With Fumiko who had seemingly lost her words and retreated within her thoughts. It wasn't until a sharp, warning hiss from Shi sounded from within her cloak that the Genin sensed the two chakra signatures closing in on them. Abruptly stopping, she turned to look behind them. "Kazu-sama..."

murder with no killing | WORD COUNT - TAGS - NOTES Kensaku hadn't stayed at the crime scene for long. In fact, he hadn't wanted to look at it any more than was necessary. He hadn't known the men who died well, but he had known them, and they were his comrades. So, naturally, the second he'd picked up the trail he'd taken off running, with barely a shout back to Masaki as to where he was going. The Villain in Glasses would have words with whoever thought they could take an Iwagakure genin and murder two jounin. He had followed the trail for quite some time; forests were hard places to track a ninja, but miss Sato wasn't the most subtle of people and Kensaku had years of experience on her. With Masaki's help, he eventually made his way to the edge of a clearing, perched in a tree, his puppet removed from its scroll and instead attached to him like a backpack, the eight steel legs wrapped carefully around his torso so as not to get in his way. He wasn't in the last tree before the clearing, nor the tree before that one. He was exactly three trees back from where forest became clearing. He held up a hand to stop Masaki before the other jounin got any closer. "That's the Mizukage with her." Just that. That was bad enough. His voice was ice cold and almost-silent, barely high enough to allow Masaki to hear. The situation looked bad. |

While Kensaku suffered more from the loss of the Iwa jounin, Masaki’s psyche ravaged under the loss of his student, Fumiko. If the person who had slaughtered jounin had killed them so…so-Masaki’s mind flashed images of the blood and death and he shuddered- effortlessly then what had they done to a simple genin? The brunette could already feel his body boil with anger and anxiousness, the desire to not let another person he cared about slip away from him. It filled his whole being. Was it possible for a man to lose this many people in his life? A sister, a fiancé, and now a student? Was there any role that Masaki could keep without suffering casualties?
Grim as these thoughts were, Masaki’s face was even darker as he followed beyond Kensaku, both silent, both knowing more than the honor of Iwakagure was on the line. Those who were dead? They were the same rank, perhaps a bit lower in training, than Masaki and Kensaku. The force it took to wipe out two A-ranked shinobi left the unidentified culprit with great powers. And they had Fumiko. Wisps of deep viridian chakra swirled around the tips of Masaki’s fingertips and ears, floating off as he shook his head. He was no child just learning how to control their chakra and he was no fool to exert chakra because of his emotions and let their enemy know he was coming. He would stay Masaki the sensei, the rescuer, today and not Masaki the killer, the demon.
Together the two jounin tracked down Masaki’s former pupil, following her trail through the thicket and undergrowth, pausing only to confirm thoughts and plans. Masaki had lost track of time just as he had done twice before when searching for someone he cared about. Day or night. The distance from Iwa. None of it mattered. Only Fumiko’s health did now.
It was only her.
There was so much about Fumiko that many discredited, lobbing her into an emotionless, vaguely twisted kind of soul that Masaki did not agree with. Believing most were altruistic at their core, he undersrtood that Fumiko needed to be shown love and compassion in order for her to emit those kinds of feelings back. It was the reason why Masaki spent reading over books with Fumiko, widening her knowledge on the world as well as training her body, though she was less keen on that. Obviously then, Fumiko’s sudden disappearance troubled Masaki greatly and he could only hope that the girl was using her wit and Shi to stay safe. She had so much left to learn…
Kensaku’s fist stopped both Masaki’s momentum and thoughts as reality snapped back to life. Settling next to his companion, Masaki peered through the trees, sensing his student’s chakra so used to it as he was. The other chakra signal when paired with what Kensaku said… Masaki’s lips pressed into a thin line. Had the Mizukage killed the Iwa jounin? Would a kage from another village really slaughter innocents from a different village and then take a defenseless genin? The two villages were neutral, neither friends nor at war so why would the Mizukage risk tension?
“There must be some mistake,” Masaki whispered back to Kensaku. “Murdering and kidnapping our people would spark a political nightmare.” Flexing his fingers, Masaki leaned forwards, ready to jump down to the ground. “Come, he will have noticed us already and I’d rather face him peacefully than have a kage attack us first.”
Scaling down, Masaki waited for his partner before closing the space between them and the others. His heart pounded, sweat pooling in his palms as Masaki prepared to face the Kage of Kirigakure. This would be no easy task.
“Lord Mizukage,” Masaki shouted, keeping the distance between jounin and kage tactfully wide. Masaki would not underestimate an S-ranked shinobi, especially with two dead behind them. “We come from Iwagakure in search of one of our missing,” his eyes flickered over towards Fumiko. “She was last seen at the site of a horrific crime and we want nothing more than to make sure Fumiko Sato is okay and bring her back home.”
The brunette’s voice softened a bit. “Both of us are medical-nin…are you hurt, Fumiko? We can help.” Masaki’s gaze stayed on his student’s while he hoped Kensaku kept an eye on the Mizukage.

What great news Kazu had just received. This little girl, Fumiko, had agreed to come with him. Kazu could see the promise and potential this young girl held. Her crystal release was something that intrigued Kazu to no end. Perhaps there was even a way he could... borrow it for himself? Today, Kazu had found himself a new ally. One that he would take under his wing, and train her personally. The two of them continued to walk forward along the dirt road, making their way towards Kirigakure. As Kazu and his new companion traveled, Kazu could feel the presence of another. No, two others. As if to confirm his suspicions, Fumiko stopped suddenly, observing the area behind them. Kazu stopped as well, spinning his body around. " I know." Kazu responded to Fumiko. " Please, stand behind me." The two Jounin revealed themselves. Kazu observed them as they removed themselves from the shadows, placing themselves in broad daylight. Kazu examined their forehead protectors. The crest of Iwagakure was imbedded onto them. These two clearly weren't as stupid as the last two. They knew they couldn't catch Kazu off guard, so why even try? But, perhaps it was too soon to speak. The Iwa shinobi with the brown hair began to speak, confirming their village of origin. this man claimed that he was here to take Fumiko back. They were here to take Kazu's new found companion away from him. Those words entered Kazu's ears. A slight rage began to swirl in his belly, like a hurricane gaining power as it approached the shore, ready to annihilate anything and everything. " The crime scene?" Kazu asked, feigning his ignorance. " Oh, yes. The two Jounin I killed. The ones who tried to attack this innocent little girl, here, and then they tried to kill me." Kazu let out a smile. The usual, bright, friendly smile he was so used to faking. " I was only trying to protect her! Protect both of us!" Truth be told, Kazu enjoyed it. To let out the anger and rage festering inside of him. To spill his guts with no worries, and to just let loose. It felt good. It was addicting. Kazu stood there, contemplating it for a moment. He could do it again. Just let loose. But, Kazu decided he'd deal with the situation more diplomatically. He wasn't going to give Fumiko over, that he knew for sure. Now he just needed to get these two to walk away without a fight. " Fumiko is just fine." Kazu responded in her place. " She will be returning to Kirigakure with me. Please, leave. Don't make me fight you." Kazu spoke with such a friendly tone, his smile still as large as ever. Tagged: Fumiko Ryuutarou Suoh MasakiOOC: Notes CODED BY ELECTRIC OF GS

GIVE ME MILES AND MILES OF MOUNTAINS AND I'LL ASK FOR THE SEA ❝ Standing neither behind or beside Kazu now, her placement showed her degree of obedience and curiosity. The two fighting for dominance as she observed the situation at hand. Her violet gaze meeting that of a familiar jounin. "Masaki-sensei..." she whispered, her tone merely that of remembrance. Of recognizing that the man who stood before her now was her sensei. There was a tenderness to his voice, a certain softness that hadn't changed despite her leaving. But it was something the young blonde neither knew how to or wanted to reciprocate. Not after watching Kazu smile so dimly upon their arrival. Her hand fell from Kazu's coat at the mention of a fight, not wanting to hinder him. Instead her fingers gently stroked the head of the golden inland taipan who was poking his head out of her cloak now. Every now and then his tongue with flick out and he'd let out a warning his to the shinobi in glasses. Shi recognized Masaki as a friend. But this other man was an unknown, and the snake happened to be very protective of his little owner. At Masaki's question, the Genin gave herself a quick look over. She'd be nicked by the kunai from earlier in the day, but Kazu had already wrapped the wound. Meeting her sensei's gaze once more, the hum of an 'n' escaped her lips before Kazu spoke on her behalf. Assuring both of the Iwagakure nin that she was just fine. But there was something that he had said that still bugged her greatly. And though she hadn't voiced it, the thought played over in her head like a broken record. Bring her back home. The phrase made her shift uncomfortably where she stood. Her hands quickly finding their way to the smooth scales of her companion for comfort. Sensing his mistress' distress, the snake revealed more of his body, wrapping around her shoulders and baring his fangs at the two Iwa jounin. tags: Kurayami, Masaki, Ryuutarou Suohooc: Sorry for the wait! murder with no killing | WORD COUNT - TAGS - NOTES Kensaku didn't like this situation one bit. Of course, he was too good at looking nonplussed to let that information show on his face. He had a reputation of sorts with the other villages, it wouldn't do to let that slip. The Mizukage was a formidable force, capable of completely annihilating two Iwa Jounin. They might not have been quite as skilled as himself or Masaki, but they were still formidable and this man, by his own admission, had scythed two of them down like so much wheat. His voice was flat, emotionless, neither angry nor pleased as he spoke. "Is this true, Fumiko? Those men tried to attack you?" He didn't think the Mizukage would need to lie, but still. "I believe, lord Mizukage that the Tsuchikage would have preferred you to incapacitate our men, so that they could be interrogated and tried. Be assured, we do not take assaults on our students and genin lightly, by any measure." Kazu's reaction would be telling evidence of his actual purpose with Fumiko. "Miss Sato has friends at home who are worried about her, She didn't say goodbye to anyone. I'm sure you must understand that, coupled with the grisly murder of two of our jounin in our own town, this looks like a kidnapping. The fallout from this incident might be disastrous." He turned to Fumiko, eyes softening a fraction as he looked at the genin. "Miss Sato, I don't know you personally, but I do know that this might well spark a war between Iwagakure and Kirigakure. People will die, on both sides. Do you wish to be responsible for that?" He returned his icy gaze to Kazu, hard and cold as a glacier. "That is, provided she is still able to make her own choice, Lord Mizukage." |

You got to cry without weeping Talk without speaking Scream without raising your voice Masaki did not trust the Mizukage. There was something fake about the man’s smile, something slimy about the way he openly admitted to slaughtering another village’s nin, and something, by the Gods, something so cruel in the way he answered for Fumiko. He was not the genin’s father, the genin’s family, the genin’s teacher, or Fumiko’s anything. No one had a right to speak for the girl except for her! Masaki could feel his chakra swirl inside of him, his bloodline’s abundance in it making the chakra volatile when the man couldn’t control it. But he had to. Despite the growing frustration and anger he felt over this situation, Masaki had to control himself. He was wise enough to know this and had enough practice in his skills to do so. His chaka stilled. He was in control. “I was asking my student,” Masaki replied curtly after the Kage finished speaking. He turned to look at Fumiko, noticing that the girl had attached herself to the Mizukage’s robes, her hand clenching tightly at the material as if the Mizukage was protecting her. Protecting her from them…from the Iwa shinobi. From her sensei. The brunette’s throat seemed to swell shut as he honed in on Fummiko, watching as she dropped her hand away from the robes and hummed out a little tune. The only assurance to Masaki and Kensaku that she was okay. He watched dully as Shi hissed at the two men, the snake’s fangs a physical wound to the jounin despite not making any contact with him. Masaki knew Shi, Shi knew Masaki, but now the animal regarded him as a threat to Fumiko while nothing could ever be further from the true. At this point in time Masaki was grateful for Kensaku’s assistance in the mission. Perhaps the ivied jounin was too invested in this mission personally to be of any use, but, on the other hand, Masaki was one of the few people who knew Fumiko well enough that perhaps she trusted him. Because whatever she had been through, a possible attack by her own village, the Mizukage twisting his words into her ears, maybe she needed to see a familiar face. But maybe she didn’t. Masaki stayed quiet as his companion talked, bringing up points that Masaki agreed with himself. Occasionally the brunette would nod when Kensaku said something valid, something that could very well bring Kirigakure and Iwagakure to arms. The sensei had only wished Kensaku hadn’t directed the whole fate of these villages at Fumiko personally. If there was anyone who would be responsible for starting bad blood between two neutral villages, it would be the Mizukage. Masaki would be sure to let his own Kage be aware of that. “Lord Mizukage, as my partner said the implications of these events are turning sour every moment they go uninvestigated. If those Iwa shinobi did attack one of our own then this is village affair and I will see that my student is safe. But, we need to know why you personally assaulted one of our own and then took our genin without letting the Tsuchikage know. The fate of Kiri and Iwa rests on your hands more.”
