As someone so focused on solving mysteries, Chie really is what one would expect, with tomboyish features concealing a girlish, shy nature that she'd rather keep private but is often forced to reveal. This affects both her choice of clothing and her language and speech patterns, often sticking to very boyish clothes and despising anything even slightly revealing. She tends to use more male language and speech in a deeper voice than is natural to her, but get her embarrassed or angry and the higher-pitched voice often slips out.
Her body is generally very slim, with slightly heavier shoulders than most woman but an overall pleasant physique. Of course, as a shinobi, Chie has rather toned legs and a slight tan on the joints of her fingers due to many summers spent in Iwagakure. Her skin, however, is rather smooth and very pale, perhaps a side-effect of her reclusive lifestyle and job. Needless to say, Chie is rather ashamed of her 'womanly features', in this case her bust, which is quite a bit larger than she'd like, sitting at a DD-cup.
Chie's hair is silky smooth to the touch and is in fact one of the only things she really prides herself on. Having cut it very short, she is often mistaken for a very womanly man, especially in combination with the clothes she generally wears. However this doesn't seem to bother her all that much, in that it doesn't distract her from her job, and oftentimes this fact can help her with negotiations. In her experience, men are much more comfortable talking to men than to women. Oddly her eyes are a bright mahogany color, unlike the rest of her family, who all have a sea blue color. The question has been raised several times about her being adopted into her family simply because of this fact.

Chie is a rather hard to predict girl, with odd mood swings and exceptions to her greatest loves or fears. For example, she hates being treated like a man, yet she wears very masculine clothing and speaks in a very masculine tone. For this very reason people have begun avoiding her in social situations, not to mention her obsession with cases. In fact most of her conversations consist of discussing the various cases she has going and talking about the latest scientific discoveries, fun for some but incredibly boring to most. T
