Konoha Summer Festival Outdoor Play / Fireworks Display
Instructions: This thread will be a little bit different than the other Festival threads. For the Outdoor Play portion of the thread all participants can choose to either be an Actor Character or an Audience Character. Each part has their own role to play. Posts for this part of the thread can be short and a direct response to what is going on above you if you like. Actor Characters will improvise a made up play set in “the olden days” of the shinobi world. Feel free to be as serious OR as silly as you want to be. The only rule for actors is that you HAVE to respond to the other actors and what they’re doing. Audience Characters are permitted to speak with other members of the audience, react to what’s happening on stage and cheer or boo whatever is happening in the play. The only rule is that you cannot directly interfere with what is happening on stage. If you are an Actor, make clear in your first post here that you are preparing for the play backstage. If you are a member of the Audience, make clear in your first post that you are filing in to find your seat. Once the play is completed a free-for-all fireworks display will be put on, where everyone is welcome to interact with each other in whatever way they want.

MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS | It was going to be a busy few days for the Hokage. Ryoko had initially been invited to participate in the play that was about to go on but he had a sense that he would have ruined it no more than five minutes in. But in the interest of keeping up appearances he agreed to show up and watch the whole thing unfold. While it would have been a lie to say that he was excited to see it, he wasn’t particularly unhappy about being there either. It was a well known fact around the village that Ryoko wasn’t the most popular Hokage to ever lead them, but slowly his approval rating went up. Appearances like these were important and they helped him earn their loyalty. It was for this that he was excited.
He had insisted that he not be treated as a “guest of honour” but based on his seating location it looks like they had gone ahead and done this anyway. Not that he could really complain about more comfortable seats and a better view of the stage. Secretly he was relieved, because this meant he wouldn’t have to mingle as much with the villagers, despite that being his primary reason for being here. His antisocial attitude was really his biggest weakness in this position.
As he made his way to his seat he shook hands with several villagers he recognized who had come for the play and patted any shinobi he saw on the shoulder, shooting smiles to everyone as he did so. One thing he’d gotten very good at in the year since the last festival was his small talk and it was now serving him well. Finally though he arrived at the small area for him and his closest friends –those posts were still empty- He took a seat and scanned the crowd for anyone who he knew more intimately that he might be able to have a real conversation with.

Hara Kin danced through the crowd, avoiding careless people like a laughing phantom among the living. If it hadn’t been for the familiar flock of blonde hair, however, she would’ve been a lot harder to recognize. Since this was a very special occasion, she had ditched her usual outfit. Instead, the playful kunoichi was wearing a dark yukata with eye-catchingly shiny, golden patterns. Up close, it just looked like a beautiful mess of nothing, but further away one could slowly distinguish the theme of flowers. It seemed almost as if the patterns were dancing along with her movements. Even in festive mood, she was all about illusions.
The festival was something Hara was thoroughly enjoying. Good food, interesting people and so many amusing events... What’s not to love? She had really wanted to take part in the play, but for some reason other actors hadn’t been very thrilled about the idea. Something about it not being her kind of comedy. Oh well, their loss. She liked listening to stories just as much anyway.
The thoughts were set aside when the Kitsune caught a familiar sight. A certain someone was sitting separate from the crowd, all alone, like some sort of VIP. Well, that was kind of true, to regular folks at least, but still... Who would’ve guessed Ryoko had a thing for that? Hara’s lips curled into a cat-like smile. Now this wouldn’t do at all~ She simply couldn’t let him just sit there looking high and mighty. In a blink, she was gone from the crowd. Within the same heartbeat, a shady figure crept soundlessly up to the Hokage. Slender fingers appeared from behind him, reaching out to cover his eyes. A cheerful question chimed into his ear.
"Guess who~?"
Regardless of whether Ryoko guessed right, or if he guessed at all, Hara hopped to fill the vacant space right next to him. The flippant motion was with utter disregard for the little sign on the seats designating who it was actually reserved for. Wait, scratch that. She did care long enough to grab the rustling piece of paper from under her behind and spin it between her hands. With swift flips and twists, it quickly transformed. An origami. It was admittedly a little hasty on the side, but still a recognizable squirrel. Like a proud child, the kunoichi presented it as a gift to the Hokage. "For you~!"

Konoha was in full bloom, it was the middle of summer and Ryuza had dragged his ass all the way across the burning hot desert to the calm and collected village of Konoha. From the various signs and banners waving slowly in the summer breeze to the decorations and tender feeling of love radiating from every citizen. It was nothing akin to what Sunagakure was and looked way cooler to Ryuza, Sunagakure consisted of boring sand buildings and everyone was real covered up, even the women, but here everything was quite the opposite. Despite, the fact the temperature was quite different in Konoha compared to Sunagakure, Ryuza's attire consisted of the same things. A hood that he stitched onto his back in memory of his father and the rest of his attire was symbolic of his warrior heritage. A black vest being the only cloth to cover his torso, the bulk of his chest is exposed revealing a toned physique. His pant legs were tucked nicely into his sandals, generating a billowing effect at his ankles while his arms are protected beneath steel forearm guards. A black sash with a blade inside was present while a thick wrap rests around his forehead as a headband. Sunagakure’s insignia is embroidered along such a headband in the form of a hitai-ate. Lastly, draped loosely, though affectionately around his neck, Ryūza donned a sallow white scarf which was of great importance to Ryuza.
A duo of young partners in crime ran past Ryuza and one of them bumped into his side which made her giggle as she chased her friend. Usually Ryuza hated when people bumped into him which was pretty awkward but since it was a kid and he didn't want to start anything in another village he held his katon to himself. As he saw all the joy in people's faces and the love that was being radiated from each person, he decided he would enjoy himself today, he would not quarrel with anybody nor would he get on anybody's nerves. As he walked through the streets he started to feel awfully thirsty and opened his backpack, he then grabbed a bottle of water from it and devoured it within seconds. He threw the tiny bottle of water onto the ground and continued to walk forwards. As he walked he was also taking in his surroundings and studying the various architecture and styles of Konoha. Most of the houses were very spaced out and their locations were planned very carefully, the houses were made of wood with glass windows and a splash of colours painted all over them which was very different from the buildings in Sunagakure which were all in a cluster and made of sand which was easily penetrable. Ryuza would love to move to Konohagakure but he was so used to the Sunagakure lifestyle he didn’t want to abandon it. After studying the architecture and his surroundings, one area of Konoha really stood out to him and it was one of the more lively spots of attraction. It was plagued with both shinobi and regular civilians of all different shapes and sizes. They were seated in chairs and they talked with one another, it seems the shinobi were of different villages and it looked very diverse.
The place was decorated with various colours and lights, countless sweets and finger foods were being served in a quick fashion which sparked some interest in the Hooded Salamander of the Sand. He walked to the side of the gathering and spotted a big sign which confirmed his suspicision, a play of some sort was about to take play and even better, they were looking for main actors. It was actually a dream, a desire for the young shinobi to one day get into the world of acting. He thought of himself as a great actor and he secretly watched every Snow White play that was available to him. Maybe this was his chance, his only chance, the chance to prove to the world that he was a young prodigy in the making and soon would be offered to act in movies. Ryuza’s face lit up at the thought and he ran over to the backstage, he was going to sign-up for the main role to show to the land of Konoha how talented at acting he really was.

Post by Ryoma Namikaze on Jul 31, 2014 21:19:51 GMT -7
Ryoma had a very bittersweet feeling towards the annual Konoha Summer Festival. While he thoroughly enjoyed the various activities he also had very little time to himself and was expected to remain with his family. Some people would have killed for the cozy section the main family of the Namikaze had to themselves. However Ryoma preferred to do things on his own during the festival, he was accustomed to special treatment all other days of the year. The opening festivities were the only times that he himself was required to stay with his father, sister, and brother. With that out of the way he decided to branch out on his own as he typically did. He preferred to socialize amongst other villagers, particularly the young women in the crowds whom looked splendid during the festival.
Ryoma was sporting a beige jacket with the sigil of a lion on the back. He enjoyed a small amount of fame due to the nickname of the Lion as well as his family name being well respected throughout the village. It was no secret who he was and there was a large amount of feelings towards the Namikaze and Ryoma because of this. Some people hated his family believing them to be political monsters and other loved them for their dedication to the village and being one of the original families of the village. It was safe to say that anyone whom he crossed paths with would have some kind of predetermined opinion of him regardless of where they came from. This was something Ryoma was used to and he frankly didn't care much for their opinion.
He walked through the crowds with his ever present sharp smile on his face. Exchanging hellos with the various villagers coming up to him with a greeting. The play particularly caught his eye because of he felt hilarity often ensued. It was made up of various shinobi and not traditionally trained actors. While some put forth a good effort, in other cases the best effort of some was atrocious and that was the true comedy of the play. As he arrived at the area he exchanged a short stare with his father whom was seated in the section for the Namikaze clan. Although no words were spoken it was the kind of exchange that had much meaning. The stare only took him out of his festive mood for a brief moment as his smile returned to his face. He began to find an open seat to converse with various shinobi also in attendance.

Post by Yamada Kuzashi on Aug 1, 2014 0:18:09 GMT -7
Yamada had been looking forward to this event all year. Not only did he love festivals, but the big play that took place before the fireworks display was something he viewed at his big chance in the spotlight. Perhaps he was a little too dramatic to be a real actor but Yamada felt that his ability to display emotions to the extreme was a gift; Not his curse. Regardless of his mixed reviews in the plays over the years he had signed up the second the opportunity had become available. This year would be his year, he was sure of it!
Now, as he made his way through the crowds of enthusiastic people he only felt himself getting more and more excited. He was wearing an incredibly flashy yukata that would have normally only been appropriate on a small boy. The unique array of oranges, reds and yellows was definitely drawing some confused glances, though most people were in too good a mood to pay any mind to someone who liked to dress up a little too much. In fact the disapproving looks did nothing more than fuel his desire to get on stage and knock their socks off. Just down the road was his destiny for the night and as he drew nearer still the feeling of joy built in his chest.
Finally! Backstage. As Yamada arrived he saw that there were already a few other bodies there, some of which he'd never seen before. As he'd gone by the seats he had seen that they were already almost packed. Many of them had come to do nothing more than laugh but that didn't bother Yamada one bit. He had noticed that this year the Hokage seemed to be attending. All the more reason to put on the best show of his life. Now as he got settled in, he started to make his way from person to person to offer a greeting. Finally he came to a younger man who he'd never seen around the village before. Judging by his attire he would have been from a much warmer locale than Konohagakure. Ryūza was definitely a new face but meeting new people was half the fun of the festival.
"Hello! It's always refreshing to see a new face signing up to participate in our annual summer play. My name is Yamada Kuzashi, can I have yours?" He chimed with perhaps a little too much ardor.

MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS | Ryoko watched as the people filed in. It wasn't long before many of the seats were filled with excited, smiling people. Chatter filled the air and before long it all became noise to him. This definitely was his usual scene, but he'd be lying if he said that the positive atmosphere wasn't rubbing off on him a little bit. Perhaps this was why when an all too familiar voice chimed out from behind him while the culprit covered his eyes Ryoko was able to refrain from incinerating everyone within a ten kilometer radius.
Just as he reached out to grab her arms she jumped over the chair and took a seat directly next to him. His first impulse was to scold her for being so disrespectful out in public. Not unusual for her but with all the other villages in town he didn't want people to think that he couldn't control his own shinobi. Even if this was the case. As he went to say something though he stopped abruptly, taken slightly aback by her outfit. While he wasn't inclined to notice how attractive she was out in the field, it was different seeing her wearing something other than her gear. His face turned a slight bit red before he managed to compose himself again. As he did so she handed him a paper...squirrel? This was Ryoko's best guess at the miniature paper animal. It was impressive work considering how spontaneous it was, though he felt it was more of an attempt to get rid of the evidence that she had taken someone's spot.
"Thank you." He tried to sound genuine, though receiving a spontaneous gift; especially one made out of paper just didn't excite him. To avoid being awkwardly silent as he often was he tried to come up with a more casual conversation topic to bring up with the Kitsune.
"A festival must be your favourite time of year. All these people around." He paused for a second before deciding to offer one more comment. "Please don't burn our village down." He tried to make it sound as much like a joke as possible. Though it was mixed with genuine concern.

Hara managed just barely contain her mischievous glee. She had gotten a free VIP seat and now the only piece of evidence was a squirrel held by the Hokage. The perfect crime. Better yet, the young man seemed to be the tiniest bit bothered. Such an adorable reaction. She slyly snuggled even closer to see if she could get him to squirm a little more. Slender hand reached over his shoulder and glimmering, golden eyes focused on his features. "I’m glad I can please you, Ryoko-sama~" Many would’ve agreed that teasing the strongest shinobi in the village was disrespectful if not outright dangerous. Hara naturally disagreed.
Soon enough, the Kitsune gave the Hokage his personal space back and leaned back on her seat. The question was met with an enthusiastic nod. "Yup, yup~!" She absolutely loved all sorts of celebration, especially these grand festivals. When Ryoko voiced his concern, Hara’s lips turned to a childish pout and she acted jokingly offended. "Oh, I would never dream of such thing! Don’t you trust me?" No. The answer to that was most likely no. As usual. Though in her defense, she was trying to be on her best behavior during the festival. Having so much to see and do certainly helped.
Now that the chat got going, there was actually something she liked to discuss. Kind of. "It’s nice to get a break after... well... that weird meeting and... other hectic things..." She paused to gaze at the sky. Usually talking was the easiest thing to do, but right now words were escaping her. Taking a deep breath, she smirked as casually as she could. "You wouldn’t believe what I’ve been up to, you know. No one ever does..." And again she trailed off. She was dying to reveal her little secret to someone, yet she couldn’t bring herself to actually do it. I am the Fox Sage. Such a simple line and it got stuck in her throat like a hopeless love confession.
Funny how that worked...
After an uncharacteristically awkward silence, Hara chuckled faintly and shook her head. "Hmh~ Never mind~" There would be a better time for this. Maybe. There was no telling who might be listening anyway. And the Hokage would find out sooner or later. Perhaps. Those were her excuses and she was sticking to them. She slowly inched to the edge of her seat and leaned forward to peer if anything was going on the stage yet. "You know, I wanted to take part in the play, but they wouldn’t let me. Can you believe that?" An idle question, simply a necessity to change the topic. Something told her the Hokage could in fact believe it.

The young salamander walked up to the sign-up sheet and it seemed like he was around the seventh person to sign up but the main role of the hero was not taken up and that instantly brought a devilish grin to his face. A train of thoughts started circling his head and he started to ponder on the countless possibilities that were given to him. As he started to think some words caught his gaze and he focused his attention on them, it was the general idea of the play. From what Ryuza could break down, the play was about the olden times of the shinobi world and there was going to be good guys and bad guys. Ryuza didn’t pay much attention in history class but from what he recalled was the fact the past of the shinobi world was quite a gruesome one. The world was plagued with various wars and evil beings that scarred the lands forever and almost brought the end of humanity with it. However, there was always a really overpowered good guy and his friends that saved humanity and brought an end to the evil that was lurking in the shadows. Ryuza tried to recall his name, what was it, Naruto..? He still didn’t know if he was right but he guessed he would play his role but instead of him being the hero, it would be Ryuza.
As soon as he signed up a chubby old man with star-shaped sunglasses and an adventure hat walked up to him and instantly shook his hand. “What a pleasure to have you mister!”, the shinobi from Sunagakure smiled and awaited further instructions. The man introduced himself and he said that he had been creating various movies and plays for over twenty years and that he was one of the best in Konoha. He told Ryuza to sit down and have a cup of coffee and he would be back with further instructions on what they were actually acting about soon. He sat down on a leather chair and as people walked by, they both greeted and talked about him, he had become a star!
"Hello! It's always refreshing to see a new face signing up to participate in our annual summer play. My name is Yamada Kuzashi, can I have yours?". People had greeted and talked about him to their friends and family but nobody had sparked a conversation with him yet and at least this man was a bit more polite. Yamada had messy black hair and it didn’t seem like it was combed or taken care of, it just flowed. He had raven black eyes and he was around the same height of Ryuza. His skin was very pale compared to the light tans that people got in Sunagakure due to the sun always beating down on them.
After studying him with great interest, he didn’t really want to start a conversation up for some odd reason, Ryuza wasn’t the most social person there was on the planet and didn’t tend to talk to strangers but when he did he usually started conflict and fights with his words. However, today was a different day, a day of joy and happiness, a day to cherish forever since no shinobi was sure if they’d be on planet earth the next day and so he decided he would muster up some friendly words to spark a short conversation.
“Ryuza. Last name must be earned on the battlefield, how’s your day going?”
