Demiyah had long outrun Shin, but she didn't feel too bad. They had been on the way to Konoha, and they had been rather close to the village. Nothing was going to happen to them, regardless of how paranoid Demiyah may have been at first. So here she stood, in the middle of Konoha's Summer festival, her gaze wandering slowly over the various vendors and shops that seemed to be bustling with people. People. Were all of them even real, or was she going to be constantly haunted by the ghosts who followed her every move. She'd taken Shin's advice, trying not to feel guilty for the lives she'd taken, and trying to embrace the Kinkou religion, even if it was so foreign to her.
This was a special occasion, so Demiyah had decided to wear something a little more formal than her combat uniform or her Kage robes. No. She left those in her home, knowing that it would be best not to stir up suspicion and questions, especially with the rumors already floating around because of the Kage Summit. She was dressed in a long white kimono styled robe that had no sleeves, was held together by a black obi and tied with a red cord, and decorated with a long, crimson skirt like piece that attached at the kimono's waist. The kimono was dotted with pink flowers, mostly around the waist. She wore long black stockings, and sandals signature to Sunagakure. Her long, blood red hair was down for once, reaching almost to her butt, and her bangs covered her left eye from view. The only thing marking her as the Kazekage, was the Kazekage's seal, worn on a band around her arm, just above the plate of her forehead protector. The band was pure white, and the symbol was the same green that came on her robes.
Signature to the Kazekage herself, she did have her bow and quiver equipped, but only because she had traveled all the way from Sunagakure. Her Kusarigama was attached to the belt at her hip, and her ninja supply bag was belted around her left thigh. In addition to the necklace that she wore, she also wore violet prayer beads, establishing her as a simple member of the temple. Unlike Shin, she wasn't quite ready for a position of leadership. She wasn't a Reaper yet.
Crossing her arms over her chest, Demiyah let her gaze land on a tea vendor, smiling just slightly to herself. She was thirsty, she had to admit, and she couldn't just pass up tea when it was so close at hand. Noting that Shin would just find her wherever she was, she started to the tea shop, settling down on one of the stools. "Mint tea, please. Ice cold," she said calmly, being rather straight forward, her gaze resting on the vendor who stared at her arm band for a long moment, gulped, and then nodded.
"Right away, Lady Kazekage-sama!" he exclaimed, rushing to work. Demiyah jumped just slightly, looking down the bar toward the other people sitting there, noting their wide-eyed expressions.
Demiyah only gave a small chuckle, shaking her head slowly, "Looks like I've been spotted." She then busied herself with gathering the right amount of money to pay the vendor, setting it on the counter while she waited. When the cup of tea was placed in front of her, in a to go cup, of course, she slid the money forward, ignoring the vendors sputtering about how it was on the house. "No it isn't. Take the money," Demiyah said simply, getting up and exiting the tea shop, sipping lightly on her tea. 'It's better than what my own shinobi make me...' she thought silently, staring lightly at the cup.
It was then that the Kazekage looked up, spotting someone that she'd been wanting to meet here. "Hokage-sama!" Demiyah greeted, holding up her hand in a small wave, heading forward to stand right in front of him. "Seems you got out of the building safely," she said with a small smile, making light of the situation that had her paranoid and in a constant state of duress. Her gaze drifted to the side, noting a figure she knew as a ghost. Gritting her teeth, she closed her eyes a moment, shaking her head, her fingers on the prayer beads that Shin had given her. Letting out a slow breath, red eyes opened once more to gaze upon the Hokage, "May I steal your attention for an hour or two? My escort should be catching up any time now."

MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS | Something is off.
One look at her and Ryoko could sense that something was wrong with the Kazekage. Her usual demeanor was normal and composed at first but Ryoko noticed her glance over his shoulder with a slight look of distress. Shinobi live dangerous lives and this would have been normal if they hadn't been in the middle of a festival. This behavior was very peculiar indeed. Despite this it couldn't be too bad because she brought up the topic of the building explosion with a very nonchalant attitude.
As far as Ryoko knew, all the Kage had died in the explosion. However shortly after arriving back they had heard word that all of them had made it out intact. Unfortunately the same could not be said for the Amegakure staff inside the tower along with hundreds of civilians.
Ryoko smiled at Demiyah and took a few steps closer to her as she asked about having a discussion with him. "Absolutely. I think it's essential we debrief. But let us go somewhere more private. I'm sure your escort will have no problem locating us." There were actually a few places the Ryoko could have picked for a low key meeting but there was a local watering hole that wouldn't be busy due to it being so far away from the festival. "I'll lead the way."
Once they were there Ryoko pushed his way into the establishment, nodding at the owner of the building who was tending the bar. A common greeting when he wanted to be left alone. This was returned with a smile, knowing exactly what it meant. After a moment Ryoko waved to a small booth in the corner. Sitting down he once again addressed the Kazekage.
"Can I offer you a drink?" Ryoko smiled at her again, not sure if she was interested in consuming any liquor before their discussion. |

It didn’t bother Shin that his sister had left his company as soon as the tips of Konoha sliced into the horizon. She’d been smothered in guards and nurses and eyes and Shin from the moment she'd arrived back from the Kage meeting. And to smother someone like Demiyah would destroy the small ounce of fire she kept inside of her after Kazama’s attack. Understanding this, Shin let her go, trailing slow behind, his black robes- no he would not dress up for a festival, he never had after his family’s slaughter- collecting dirt on the bottom hem as he strolled. His sword, Ketsueki no Katana, occasionally bumped his side when his gait changed or the path steepened. He only came because of Demiyah and her desire to as this festival did not concern the priest, but Shin had notice the subtle changes in his sister’s attitude after their talk together and her mind slowly started to recover. Perhaps this trip would do her well. Perhaps it would do Shin some good as well if tried. Konoha could have much to offer in terms of medical training if he met up with the right shinobi- their techniques with organs were legendary after all.Soon, once inside the village, Shin weaved through the streets and paths, searching for a place that sold tea (cold tea) where he knew his sister would be. After a long journey like this most would be thirsty. He found Demiyah quickly after that, pausing in the crowd as he watched her wave someone down. The Hokage. Interesting. As far as the Chuunin was aware none of the other Kages suffered in the way his Lady did with Kazama’s Genjutsu. Then again, none of the Kages had Akiyama blood running through them. The Kage pair left quickly after that, Shin trailing respectively behind as he was stopped at the door to a quiet tavern, sparse with people when compared to the rest of the village. No one bothered him as he entered the building, not surprising since many foreign shinobi had arrived to Konoha to celebrate. Glancing around the room, Shin finally found his sister and the Hokage nestled privately away in the corner. As Shin picked his way around the tables to Demiyah he noticed the bartender’s quizzical, maybe even protective looks. Shin shook his head at the man, a silent gesture that would hopefully allow Shin to join his sister and her companion in peace.“Demiyah,” he nodded, standing by the table. “Lord Hokage, a pleasure.” After his greetings he turned to the Kazekage, catching her blood colored eyes before asking. “Would you like me to stand guard outside or join you?”However his sister needed him, that was what he’d do.

Demiyah was grateful to get out of the middle of the street. She pushed the sight of the ghosts from her mind, needing to focus on the task at hand. She needed to warn the Hokage about Kazama. If she could save at least one of the Kage's minds from being decimated, then she would. Right now, as her main ally, the Hokage was the first one who needed to know what Kazama could do. Following closely behind the Hokage, Demiyah noted a few of the civilians watching them with curious expressions. Even the other Kage payed visits to the festivals in other countries? Yes. Yes, they did. However, Demiyah wasn't here to have fun, as much as she had enjoyed the Summer Festival in past years.
As they reached the little watering hole, Demiyah looked around the place. It would do. Shin would be able to find them very easily. She was sure that he'd already been trailing them, the shock of blood red hair catching out of the corner of her eye. Settling into the booth, Demiyah shook her head lightly, holding up her cup of tea, "No thank you. I don't drink, Lord Hokage. Besides, in my current state of mind, adding a depressant isn't the greatest idea for my sanity," she noted, smiling and making light of her situation. She wasn't going to keep burying herself under the stress of it. She had to stand up sometime, and that time was going to be now.
At the arrival of Shin, Demiyah looked up at him, a small smile on her features. She slid over in the booth, motioning for him to sit beside her, "No. I'm sure the Hokage and I can protect ourselves. Just sit and rest, Shin. I'm sure the Hokage will need your account of my... illness, as well, as I wasn't exactly aware of myself, initially." Demiyah sighed then, running a hand through her own blood red hair. One could see the resemblance between Shin and Demiyah. It was hard to tell that they were actually cousins by blood and not brother and sister. However, their familial relationship would always be that of a brother and sister.
"I might as well not waste any time," Demiyah said with a heavy sigh, glancing to the side, instantly spotting Sora's ghost hanging from an arrow across the bar. He just smiled as always. Her hand flying up to her prayer beads, she gripped one of them absently, closing her eyes for a long moment and then looking back to Ryoko. "It was Kazama," she noted, her features composing themselves as she spoke, "Though I'm sure that you already put two and two together. His target was me. If it weren't for the Raikage jumping in and chasing Kazama off after he'd attacked me, I probably would have been way worse off. His goal was to break me, and now I know how he does it."
Her fingers slipping to the next bead, her gaze trailing back to the ghost across the tavern, she continued to speak, "I spoke of how those he's attacked have ended up pretty much insane, tied down to their beds in the mental wards of the various hospitals around the world. That was... almost me. It should have been. Fortunately for me, I have people on my side who are just as stubborn as I am," she said lightly, glancing toward her brother then before focusing on Ryoko once again. "It was a doujutsu. A genjutsu that takes your greatest fears... and twists them to use against you in the most unbearable way you can possibly imagine. It just... breaks you," she sighed heavily. "I'm still... working through it all."

MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS | A young man who bore a striking resemblance to the Kazekage entered into the bar and came over to them. Demiyah insisted that the boy sit with them. Ryoko quickly thought back to the story that Demiyah had shared about the death of many of her clansmen and he couldn't help but wonder if this was a survivor from a branch family or if he shared common blood with his leader.
As they got settled in Demiyah began informing Ryoko about what had really happened at the summit after he'd fled the battlefield. He listened intently, curious about every detail. As the part about a genjutsu came up he couldn't help but be a little intrigued.
So that's it. He couldn't help but wonder what could scare such a usually firm woman. Though his ally was visibly shaken and this spoke to the seriousness of the situation as well as the power of their foe. Being classified as an SS-Rank criminal was pretty serious but it was clear that this designation was not for show. To take down a Kage with a genjutsu should have been impossible. Or that's what Ryoko would have said if the evidence weren't sitting in front of him, acting like she'd seen a ghost. Now Ryoko had questions though.
"If there is any aid my village can lend you, please do not hesitate to ask for it." It was clear that she was hurting and Ryoko didn't have any spectacular healers to offer her but he felt it necessary to make this statement anyway. Without really knowing the illness, it would be hard for any healer to really repair the damage anyway. If she was able to walk and move on her own, perhaps Suna had something that Konoha lacked in this case.
"Have you devised any countermeasures to use against this genjutsu? Doujutsu are particularly hard to counter, though there must be a way." Ryoko's mind went to work. He was not proficient in genjutsu at all and this left him susceptible to an attack like this. His lack of emotion might stave off the worst of it, but there was always something that a person feared. All it would take was finding it and Ryoko may find himself in a similar situation to his comrade. |

“Thank you,” Shin nodded, sliding down to join his sister in the booth.
Privately the man was glad Demiyah wanted him to stay. Even though he knew she deserved peace and quiet from people hovering around her every moment of the day, he still worried about her mental health. Kinkou and the prayer beads had helped her, Shin was certain of that, but when it came to loving someone as he loved his cousin, a person could never worry enough. He knew Demiyah would be in the same position had their roles been reversed. At least the two Akiyamas knew how to give each other privacy when needed. “I will try to assist when you need me to.”As Demiyah recounted her fight with Kazama, Shin kept his gaze on the Hokage. A part of Shin wondered why the other Kages hadn’t tried to battle Kazama when the man presented himself to all of them at once. An SS-Rank missing nin the man may be, but with five Kages one would think that would have been able to at least restrain the attacker. There was also the fact it had been a surprise assault and the building the Kages were in had essentially turned to nothing in the expositions. Given the reaction of most, it did not surprise Shin that many of the Kages left the building as soon as they could. It was a shame the innocents there had no such opportunity. Other than that Shin waited patiently as the two Kages traded words. He had no intention of interrupting them unless he had something specific to offer and, seeing how the medical nin had witnessed the effects of Kazama’s Ninjutsu firsthand in a patient, he hoped he could give some insight to the Hokage. No doubt the other man wished to protect his people if something similar happened to him or his village.“If there are ways to counter Kazama’s attack I would suggest that before working on a way to ‘heal’ those affected. It is a mental disease that most would not survive.”
