IN CHARACTER With the release of the bijuu and chakra reappearing in humans, the world has become incredibly unstable. To protect themselves from discrimination and prepare for the trials ahead clans of shinobi have started to gather together to form villages. Two villages already exist and this has put pressure on other clans to start to come together under their own banners. Will you help create these villages or do everything you can to stop them?

I don't want to celebrate. [Festival] [Invite]

Yuudai yawned and stretched, just having returned from a mission a few minutes before. He'd turned it in to the Hokage and then collected his reward, wandering on his way without making much small talk. He preferred not to talk to the man only three years his senior, because all he could see was what he could have become in this time. He was tired of being just a lowly genin. It was really time to get his butt moving and make it up the food chain. This chuunin exam, he wanted to be on top.
That in mind, he also understood that this would be one of the few times he'd be able to relax before the exams. The festival lead into the bigger event, and if he didn't take his chance to relax now, he'd be in for a world of hurt later. Though, he was sure that he was going to have to train at some point. He didn't mind, though, as long as people left him alone. It was so much easier to concentrate on your training when you didn't have to worry about another person cutting in and chatting you up until you couldn't focus anymore. Yuudai had tried that a few times, and it'd never worked well for him.
Shrugging his shoulders absently, the Kuzashi genin looked around the main street, noting all the different vendors. As if he had the money to spend on any of this. He barely had enough to pay his land lady or even buy himself enough food to last a week. Sighing heavily, knowing he'd just get more depression than fun out of the festival, he started back toward his apartment, his hands stuffed in his pockets. He wouldn't be in this position if his father hadn't kicked him out of the house, and disowned him from the clan. He may not have agreed with a lot of things the clan did or said, but he still loved them all. They were still his family. Now the only person he had was his older brother. It was getting harder and harder to act like he was alright, especially since this was the very festival that he and his parents had gone to every year since he was born. Being along during it this year, it was almost too much for him to bear.
He felt the oh so fresh bite of anger in his stomach, unable to ignore it much longer. He wanted to scream, punch something, lay down and cry. But he wouldn't. His pride was too important to him. It was his downfall, but it was the only thing that he really had to hold onto. Yuudai kicked at the ground as he walked, staring at the dust that rose up while he walked. He didn't even notice that someone was in front of him before he smashed right into their chest. Rubbing his nose, and not looking up, he muttered a quiet "sorry" before stepping around the person and continuing on.

Yamada had been looking forward to the festival for quite a few months. This celebration was one of his favourites, and not just because he got to light things on fire. Though that was definitely a perk. It was just the atmosphere of the entire village. So positive, so peaceful. It helped when there were no wars going on too. Just tonight he had seen shinobi from three different major villages and several from smaller ones. All mingling, all having a good time. There was just something about this time of year that brought people together. Nothing like a festival. Now Yamada had been walking for quite a bit and had noticed a familiar tuft of hair sticking out above the crowd of people. Smiling, he took this opportunity to cut through the crowd and move in front of his younger brother. Seeing that the boy was lost in thought gave him an idea and a smirk grew on his face. A simple plan, involving standing plainly in the middle of the road his brother was taking. Should this plan work? Definitely not. Would it? Likely. As Yuudai made impact with Yamada's chest he just about said something when the boy just cut around him. Another smirk. "Now what did I tell you about those observation skills?" Yamada chimed as his younger brother made his way around him. "I apologize if my chest hurt your face." As he said this he took a couple steps to catch up to his brother and placed his hand on his shoulder. "You're not turning in for the night already are you?" He smiled and applied a little bit of pressure while spinning him back around towards the crowd of people going by. Tags: Yuudai Kuzashi

Dread. That's the first thing Yuudai felt as soon as he heard his brothers voice. Sheer dread of this situation. His eyes went a little wide though, and he froze for a second before starting to walk once more. Unfortunately for him, his brother stepped back in front of him again and then spun him toward the crowd. Yuudai only stared at all the people having fun, a frown forming on his features. He didn't know what to tell his brother. How could he say that he didn't have the money to celebrate, nor did he want to because he knew this their parents would be coming around these parts pretty soon. It was the routine every year. Walk through the main street and play the various games, try all the wonderful food, let Yuudai sneak a small sip of sake in celebration of the festival. It was all just a memory for him, but still routine for their parents.
"I'm not really in the mood to celebrate anything, Yamada," Yuudai said calmly, though he didn't really resist the hold that his brother had on his shoulder. "Mother and father should be coming down that way any time now and I really don't want to be here when that happens. It's depressing enough that I don't have the money to even play any of the games or eat any of the food, but running into them would just make it even worse," Yuudai finished with a heavy sigh, turning back to face his brother.
He lifted an eyebrow at the older man. His sensei. His big brother. Yuudai enjoyed the mans company now that he was back in his life. It felt like a piece of the puzzle that created the young shinobi had clicked back into place when Yamada had come home. Now Yuudai was simply in multiple pieces. Split in two by the need to protect his village and be independent, and the need for some sort of familial affection. "Why? Is this going to turn into one of those events in which you force me to go along with you and have fun?" Yuudai noted, crossing his arms over his chest. "Because I won't refuse, though I don't know how much fun all of this will be considering the circumstances of this years festival goings. I can't even attend the Kuzashi celebrations unless I want to have them all staring at me like I'm some worthless stranger to them."

"Nonsense!" Yamada spouted at his younger brother. His negative attitude was really impacting the air around him. He quickly ran through a few ideas to cheer up the young man. None of them were good, but at this point he had to try something. Reaching in to his pocket he pulled out a small stack of bills. Not much money but in terms of the festival it would be plenty to get him through the night. "Do some gambling! Win back twice as much and pay me back." He smiled at the kid and then took a place behind him, this time putting both his hands on his upper back and shoving him back towards the mass of people. As he did so he got several unusual looks from people who knew him and people who didn't. Yamada just smiled at them all as they started to make their way through the crowd. There were so many open events at this years festival that it seemed like a shame to pass some by. But Yamada had a specific one in mind. His stomach grumbled as he started thinking of the impending teppanyaki. The late night open grill made his all time favourite food, yakisoba. "We're going to grab a bite to eat first! Then we'll head out for some games!" Yamada almost sounded like a kid in a candy shop. Unbeknownst to him though, the worst thing that could possibly happen tonight would happen. For Yamada, it was likely he wasn't going to get his meal. Or any good meal at all. Despite this he marched on to his favourite grill without a care in the world. Thoughts of food ran through his mind as he continued to mindlessly push his brother forward, completely oblivious to any objections or resistance he was putting up. Since hearing about his brother's departure from the clan compound, he had tried to go out of his way to keep his brothers mind off of it. Too bad that wouldn't be working tonight.
