Description: The first of three in Shion's penguin puppet set, and thus also the plainest and most fragile. This puppet was designed to specialize in Genjutsu, and was not made for direct combat. Small enough to pass for a pet or plushy, it is the most commonly seen out of the three, usually held in Shion's arms for mental support and companionship. Hajime's name, which means "first," as well as "the beginning," was chosen to reflect that it is the first of the three, as well as the beginning of her puppetry career. Being the plainest of the three, it is the most gender ambiguous penguin, though its name implies masculinity.
Hajime is not made of traditional puppet materials, like wood and metal. Its skeleton is made from human bone, which was acquired (with great difficulty) from a clan with a special kekkei genkai that allowed them to grown and manipulate bones. Mostly hollow, it is filled with synthetic fibers and has been covered with a relatively thin layer of steel for lightness. Above that lies a layer of felt to make it pleasant to the touch. Hajime's limbs and beak have been made to be "jointed," allowing them to move separately from the main body, and a hollow lies behind its beak. While the limbs have blades hidden within them, the beak hollow contains nothing but a tiny music box that Shion can trigger to play a certain tune with her chakra strings.
