Description: The second of three in Shion's penguin puppet set, and thus also the plainest and most fragile. This puppet was designed to specialize in poisons. Like the other two penguins, it is small enough to pass for a pet or plushy though because it hides poison within its body, it is far more dangerous to hold and as such, is usually kept sealed in a scroll. Futaba's name, which means "bud" or "sprout," was chosen to reflect multiple things. "Bud" implies femininity, further enhancing the small bow and lashes that had been added to it. "Futa" is also another reading of the kanji for two.
Made from a hollow, wooden skeleton that has been reinforced by embedding flecks of steel into it, Futaba's main body isn't exactly hollow, but it isn't exactly filled with stuffing either. Small beams made of the same type of steel-flecked wood that the skeleton is made out of reinforce its hollow center, designed to absorb force. Like its counterparts, its limbs and beak are "jointed," allowing them to move independent of the main body. Also like its counterparts, its limbs and beak hide a small variety of weapons Shion can make use of. The poison coating its weapons isn't lethal, though it is made to cause excruciating pain to whatever living things it touches, be it the skin or inside the body.
