On Top Of The World
"Here, now get to work!!"
Grumpy worker Jo must have been tired of Shikai's pestering to receive painting tools at this time of the day, right when the man wanted to take his pre-noon rest. But it was nothing that Shikai was going to give up to! He had been entrusted with the task of painting key spots in Kumogakure in honor of his announcement earlier to that date, very openly claiming that he would do any community service work for a fair pay suiting a Genin. Quite the quick way to get money, wouldn't you say? Well, he had his own reasons for going around desperately collecting Ryo from anybody. "Aye aye sir!!" Of course, being the energy bomb he is, the boy wouldn't mind a bit of verbal harassment when he's scoffing off anyway.
Running around with two, full buckets of paint appropriate for the community buildings and no brushes whatsoever (he was not provided with any, considering Worker Jo didn't even want to give him two buckets means this on itself was a great generosity), Shikai embarked towards the first stop in his task; the Hospital. "They said the entrance's been a bit dry on paint since the door's being slammed too often because of emergencies or whatnot... Okay, that should take no time at all!!" And no time at all did it take; the only problem that rose in Shikai's mind was how he was going to paint the entrance without any brushes. Improvising, the boy asked one of the hospital staff members, after presenting himself, for a broom - and proceeded to scrub the surroundings of the door with white paint, using the very broom. And before the guy in staff would get the chance to throw his outrage upon the Genin, the blond boy made a run for it. Overall time used in scrubbing: 7 minutes so far. Really, piece of cake.
Next stop... "The orphanage, huh. ...I've got an idea." Sly Genins be sly. Instead of doing the job by himself, witnessing how the area he needed to repaint was rather... Large, Shikai entered the building with his open can of paint, his paint-soaked broom hanging over his shoulder. "Kids!! I have something fun we can do today!!" He declared. Of course, convincing the staff to get the children to work with him on this was pretty hard; but as soon as he mentioned painting and showed them the trusty tool he had rightfully stole for this task, the younger children showed great enthusiasm in helping out, the social pressure affecting the older ones and in no time at all, Shikai found himself managing a good army of little children helping out with painting the walls of the orphanage from the outside. Overall time used in scrubbing: 49 minutes so far. He'd have to really give it to those kids, they'll make great handymen in the future!
After the orphanage, Shikai somewhat slowed down his rushing speed. Sure, running was more efficient, but he needed to preserve his energy. Especially since... "...You've gotta be kidding me!!" ...the next stop wasn't too easy to reach, in all honesty. It was a high spot around the corner of some house, a general wall with no real use. Talk about a waste of paint. Regardless, Shikai couldn't reach that spot with a broom, and falling down from that spot could probably hurt. Annoyed at that odd place, Shikai's shoulders dropped as he looked around with a sigh for any aid. A tree. Random tree nearby, a certain angle of a wall, and a pavement right next to the dry wall. ...Idea sprung! Shikai grabbed his open paint can and began rushing at full speed towards the oddly angled wall, bouncing off of it with both legs towards the tree. As he reached the trunk, the boy made a strong kick, jumping off to the high spot.
"Dynamic Entry!!"
Who would've thought a jump-kick Jutsu could come in so handy in this situation? Using the Jutsu twice to boost his level, Shikai - when close enough to the dry wall - splattered the whole spot with paint, using up the rest of the paint left in his can on that very same spot and carefully landing on the pavement. He needed to explain why he suddenly landed on somebody else's house with an empty bucket of paint; but all in all, it was a pretty successful run! Overall time used in scrubbing: 50 minutes. Well, so a certain tree top got some white-painted leaves now. Big deal.
Now lacking in one bucket of paint, Shikai needed to carefully take into account the amount of paint he is going to use on the next two locations. The only places left to paint were... A small corner in the bath house and somebody's store. Both of which, the boy would easily take care of by scrubbing with one whip of paint using his trusty color broom. "Up, down, up down... Left, right, left, right... Okay! Done!!" The same series of motions was repeated for both spots. Fundamentally working on a lax state would be the best way to save up paint. In the end, after patching up the walls on the general store and the bath house, Shikai was left with a small amount of paint which he could return to Worker Jo. He also needed to make sure the worker won't snap at him. But... "...Hey."
As he made his way back to the store, Shikai's eyes caught a small spot on the outside of the Raikage's entrance that needed a little aid. Dry white paint, the same type he used on the latest spots. It was a high spot, of course, so getting up there would be pretty problematic. Using his broom wouldn't really work out either. Which meant... "...Hehehe."
Leaping to one tree, then to a certain level over the window made him just high enough to reach that spot for around a second. He once again, lashed the entirety of paint left over the dried out spot. "Dynamic Entry!!!" Much more enthusiastic on that spot, Shikai found himself falling cleanly into a bunch of leaves on the treetops, cushioning his fall. The boy observed as the spot was at the moment, as far from dryly painted as could be. In fact, he might have done a bit too much, the paint dripping down the walls of the outside.
"...Maybe I should take this as a profession." He wondered to himself, watching the paint roll down. That would mark the end of one heck of a painting session!
