History
Around 400 years ago in the most northern parts of what’s now the Land of Lightning, a warrior monk enclave existed in reverence to the moon god Tsukuyomi. These monks lived in solitude for what is to believed to be a millennium. They were trained in the way of taijutsu, kenjutsu, and ninjutsu. These monks devoted their lives to the protection of the moon god’s temple from desecration. Their rituals were secret and their hearts were said to be unmovable. This age was the time before hidden villages, and a time before existence of what was known as the ninja.
Among these monks were a father and his twin sons. The eldest son’s name was Shiro and the younger son’s name was Shuzo. Their family were said to have lived at the temple for three generations. The brothers trained in the ways of hardened warriors in skills known today as ninjutsu, taijutsu and kenjutsu. Each monk was required to be able to use their own elements and skills sufficiently for combat. The brothers were said to be the strongest of the monks and shown great prowess in combat.
Their glory was short lived due to the constant clan wars that salted the nations with blood from the desert to the mountains. It was inevitable for the monks to be untouched. A now deceased clan came through the snowy mountains and ravaged the temple. The clan was all for conquest and did not share the same views as the monks. The brothers had their share of kills during this battle, but all was lost the temple was far beyond repair and only a few of the monks survived, but this just the beginning.
The remnants of the battle hardened monks separated their own way. Men and women scattered themselves across the globes to find search of new lives and new homes. Eventually, they began to travel south and ended up in what is today the Land of Hot Water. Though identical in almost every way shape or form, there was one thing the separated them. Shiro natural element had been was Katon and Shuzo was Doton. Their father was master of both elements and trained them how to use each element efficiently. Upon give them extreme knowledge and tutelage, their father was now on his death bed due to sickness and age. The last weeks of his life he kept telling them to combine the elements.
They were quite clueless to what he was referring to until years later. There were no scrolls that were known to exist from the temple and they had mastered their natural element. Years down the line they had received an idea to teach each other their own element. When teaching other they learned that they were different after all. They both had each other’s primary element, but it was untouched potential. They eventually started to research new techniques going into their middle age span. During their studies they had discovered a new release which they called the flaming combo. They unknowingly discovered a Kekkai Genkai which would later be named Yoton or Lava Release. They also named themselves Yukimura which translates to “snowy village” due to their previous home.
Both brothers married and begat children. As their children grew older, they had a better understanding of their elements of Katon and Doton. Their children formed new techniques taking them from the old teachings of the warrior monks and reverencing Tsukuyomi. Shiro’s and Shuzo descendants became nomadic and went out to search for Yoton users like themselves. They spent many years doing this and found others like them. Eventually, marrying into the Yukimura clan had to be accompanied by the natural elements of Katon and Doton. Little did they know, having either element wouldn’t create their precious Yoton they were looking for.
Generations had passed and new abilities were created which included powerful Yoton techniques and a newer developed skill. This new skill was called Tsukiuta no ken or Fist of Tsukuyomi. This technique was developed 150 years before the Great Shinobi War. During the creation of this technique, the Yukimura Clan had moved to what is now the Land of Water and resided there from then on out. The Yukimura clan had also started to turn to the darkness within their hearts starting to not care for the will and needs of others. When the clans were being gathered to form hidden villages, the Clan Leader refused the Shodai Mizukage’s summons. The Shodai Mizukage didn’t like the Yukimura’s response and acted accordingly. The head of the clan at the time Yemon Yukimura, battled with the Shodai Mizukage and ended the battle in a draw. The Yukimura clan saw the power of the Mizukage’s Storm Release almost equaled that of their Lava Release and joined the village being one of the last clans to join Kirigakure.
Unlike a lot of other clans, war didn’t really hurt their numbers. During the previous wars combined, they only lost about eight percent of their clan which had mostly consisted of low ranked genin from the side branch families. This was due to the fact that during the earlier years of Kirigakure, they only allowed a chosen number to become shinobi and trained their own in secret which didn't include Main Branch members.
Biological Traits
The Yukimura's are generally between 5'4" and 6'2" in height and a variety in weight at adulthood. The men normally have athletic or muscular builds. The women usually have slender or semi-stocky builds. They usually have dark or black hair. They may also have dark or crimson looking eyes. Due to the mixing of clans and marriages, other characteristics have been found between them, but have been considered rare. Such rarities include, but not limited to red or blonde hair and slender builds for males.
The psychological features of the clan can vary from person to person, but due to the events of the past century the Yukimura's tend to have darker or sadistic personalities and humor. They are a people full of pride and high expectations for their descendants. Failure is not seen lightly in their eyes.

Hiden Jutsu
Tsukiuta no ken - Fist of Tsukuyomi: A combination of taijutsu and ninjutsu or taijutsu and medical ninjutsu developed by the former Clan Head Dai Yukimura. This technique is highly focused on chakra concentration. This technique requires the user to have be involved in heavy ninjuts/medical ninjutsu training and endurance training. The user will focus their non elemental chakra (medical ninjutsu) or elemental chakra into their hands. The user will then strike their opponent to cause physiological damage. In certain aspects of the technique, some users have been able to force their chakra into their opponent's body to disrupt chakra flow as well as physical damage. This technique is not limited to single elements. Clan members have been highly motivated over the years to use Yoton as the element base for the technique. A few of the elements have been combined with the taijutsu aspect of the style, but wind has yet to be seen using this technique. This is primarily due to the Yukimura's primary affinity for fire and earth elements.
Additional Information
Rituals and Ceremonies
Moon Light Ritual: Four times a year, specifically once every three months, the Yukimuras will hold a ceremony in honor of Tsukuyomi. This ceremony is called Gekkō Gishiki or Moonlight Ritual. During the night of a quarterly full moon, the Yukimura's will dress in red ceremonial garbs that only have the Yukimura clan emblem on the back of their tops. The ceremonial garb also includes a straw kasa (head piece samurai usually wear) that they where before and after the ceremonies. Only the Clan Leader (not acting clan leader) will keep his head covered during the ceremony. The ceremony start of with playing music and traditional dancing. During the ceremony, a repast is served in the middle of the ceremony. The last stage of the ceremony they bow toward the moon and pray to Tsukuyomi. After praying, the Clan Leader will then consume a pinch of the ashes from which the food was prepared with a sip of sake to then end the ceremony.
Coming of Age: This ceremony which is also called Tanjō Gishiki or Birth Ritual is a prized moment in a Yukimura's life time. The ritual will usually take place once out of the year during the winter months. During the ritual, those who are being dedicated will wear pants and will stand bare footed. Young males will go shirtless and young females will wear something similar to a tube top. Torches will begin to burn around a ring built into a hard stone floor. The young ones that are being dedicated will spar off against each other. This is duel is not specific to male vs male or female vs femaile, but is also open for male vs female combat. The combat is a combination of hand to hand combat and taijutsu. The duelist will face the head of main branch, side branch and them to themselves. Before battling, they will have black war paint over their face in patterns of their choice.
Upon, facing themselves they will begin fighting and are monitored by C-Rank or higher shinobi. The two will battle each other for three rounds or until one fighter is unable to continue. After the battle, each member that are going through the rites will have to complete a C-Rank ninjutsu as a rite of passage. This jutsu is normally a Katon or Doton. Concessions have been made to those who have do not posses either elements.
Note: All rituals are held at the Yukimura Temple which houses the Ancients and their families. Though it is not required of them their families have opted to stay in Kirigakure. The architecture is similar to that of a Chinese palace. Similar to THIS. This temple used to be the home of the clan right before the existence of shinobi villages. It is also the location where Yemon and Shodai Mizukage dueled.
Deva Guardians
The Deva Guardians are the clan enforcers and body guards. They are guided by the Main Branch for the Branch Clan. In the past, the have been keepers of the Yukimura Temple. They were formed by Chiasa Yukimura. The women who was said to be the strongest warrior in the whole history of the Yukimura Clan. These are the ones who also prepare everything for the rites of passage and ceremonies. They do have their own passing of rite ceremony separate from the Coming of Age ceremonies. This ceremony was believed to be for those with higher strength and endurance. The modern version of the guardians have been known to be shinobi trained after their graduations of the academy. The moniker of Tetsu Kuraddo meaning Iron Cladding is reserved usually after a genin or D-Rank shinobi becomes a chuunin or C-Rank. Once they become C-Rank, they go through the Tetsu Kuraddo rites of passage. The Deva Guardians are not solely restricted to their position and can hold positions Kirigakure's hierarchic structure. They also have the option to serve as full fledged shinobi within the ranks of Kirigakure. As of current, all members are full fledged shinobi and or retired.
Heirarchy
The clan structure is different than most clans. The main branch consist of the first born child of the clan leader and their descendants. It use to be only males, but changed due to a previous clan leader only had daughters. The difference between the side clan leader and the clan leader is that the clan leader's position is by birth and the side clan leader is decided by the Ancients.
Clan Emblem
The clan emblem is a sphere that is imbued with a red crescent within a black sphere. The black sphere represents the Tsukuyomi and how he watches over the night and all the creatures the cohabit the darkness. It also represents that man has their own trials that may seem dark at times, but will guided by the light of Tsukuyomi. Red represents the blood of the clan. Even when separated or lost, you will always be blood and guided by Tsykuyomi. The blood of the clan is always connected to the moon deity.
