You got to cry without weeping Talk without speaking Scream without raising your voice Tired of waiting for his teammates in the mission room or at the gates of Iwa, Masaki found himself stalking the base of the village’ nearest mountain. He’d requested the gatekeeper to send the rest of his team towards this direction when they did arrived, allowing Masaki to prep his body for the long mission ahead of them. A-Ranks were not easy: not alone and not in a group. And while Masaki had read the report he knew how misleading a situation could be on paper compared to being there in person. Masaki would not allow himself, his partners, or the people of Nishioka to suffer when he had a chance to help defend them. Stretching out his muscles, starting with the left leg, then right, then arms, a few pushups and jumping jacks to get his blood circulating and his body warm, Masaki thought about his companions for the mission. Kaede Shimotsuki and Murakazi Gaiken. Kaede he’d never work with personally but he knew of the chuunin from her Academy and genin days while Murakazi he had worked with before, if just once or twice. Having Murakazi would be helpful, his Genjutsu was something that Masaki never focused on with his own skills having found the techniques difficult to his certain fighting style. Yet, they were both medical-nins and, if the villagers suffered from injuries during the attack, they could assist that way. Masaki did not know what Kaede’s specialties were but he was eager to find out. Rolling his shoulders, Masaki stared up at the mountain before him. A typical sight in Iwa, it was more native to the lands than Masaki would ever be and it offered a friendly challenge to any who tried to climb it. Masaki didn’t rely on his chakra as he started to scale the mountainside- he wanted to build his pure body, as, after he finished his medical training he was going to work on his Taijutsu next. He could feel energy grow inside of him as he hoisted himself up, his arms slowly starting to burn as he climbed higher and higher. After a good ten minutes of this Masaki stopped, working his way over to a ledge as he looked down back at the ground. His companions should be here shortly.

'You've gotten into my bloodstream' What - a drag.
At first, you think it would be a nice idea; the large pay is definitely worth the work, and even that's not too much of an effort. She also probably got to see a merchant village and very much likely would steal, or 'profit' from her visit there. What's more, she was going together with two Jounin; she was safe, no matter how you look at it. Kaede's main problem with the mission however, was not in any of those categories. It was the simple fact that she did not sign up for this willingly, but was more forced into the task, causing her obligatory as a Chuunin to make her go. This, was going to be so troublesome, and Kaede definitely did not have fun thinking about the process. She was going to have to make herself move through the course, much to her dismay. How she hoped the two other Jounin would take care of everything for her... But then, sending her to this mission would have been for naught. What the hell was the old man thinking, throwing her in that...?
A heavy sigh; a visibly grumpy expression; a clearly unmotivated posture. You could very easily tell Kaede's dissatisfaction at this task she was ordered through just looking at the girl. It was almost a matter of ridicule how childish she looked, refusing to play along with the mission. She didn't even pay the guard keeping an eye for her any attention; just apathetically passed by him with a brush of her hair. "Great. First time I set out on a mission alone with higher ups, and they have the nerve not to show up." She muttered to herself irritatedly, clicking her tongue and slightly biting at her thumb. How rude these guys were, making a lady wait... Have men lost all common manners nowadays? "But, that isn't that bad. I guess I can give them a few minutes... If they don't show up, I'll just return to the old man's office and say they weren't in. No big deal." She passed the greatest of concerns on a dangerous group mission like nothing. Mainly because Kaede really wanted to sit this one out.
Seating herself on the ground as she waited, the girl blankly stared at the scenery before her, starting to count the seconds and minutes. If only they really won't show up for half an hour, she would have legitimacy to escape. An A-ranked mission was too much for a girl like her who barely even passed as a Chuunin, after all. She merely followed the customary rules by fleeing. Unless, the Tsuchikage went entirely cahoots and decided to send Kaede to an early grave. Not that she'll really be missed though... Who cares. "Wonder why bandits are so common nowadays..." She pondered, thinking about her own bandit friends for a moment. Just, waiting for her companions. That's it. |

Chapter I-4: Our Bodies as Shields
~Be the last one standing!~
He....HE WAS LATE! Gaiken woke up after five minutes from the actual moment when he should've met his comrades. That was really a piece of... pie. He wanted to get there in time, to not get there too late and he failed his goal by sleeping a little too much. Well, this would've never happened if he hadn't destroyed his clock with some hours earlier for waking him up too early. Well, it couldn't be helped now. Without eating or washing himself, Gaiken left in a hurry. Because he overslept, he had to take some "shortcuts", or how normal people call them, roof jumps. This would've ensured him that he won't get "too late". He knew both of his comrades. One of them was "The Spider Sage", Masaki, that was also a very powerful Jounin and one of the only Sages out there. It was a pretty big rank to hold. It gave him a lot of advantages such as popularity and reputation, but these advantages could make him a better target for the possible assassins that don't want him alive. But that wasn't his business, he only had to get to him in time. So, his other comrade was Kaede Shimotsuki, the girl that he met in the Residential District. It was fun meeting her, as that made him think twice before asking Kaede out once again. He finally got there, in a rush, smelling like a skunk in a garbage, but it wasn't really a problem. They were going on a mission, not in a club. It wasn't something to be bothered by. As far as he could see, only Kaede was at the city gates. Masaki wasn't there, so he joined the young lady by saying "Hello There!" to her. As Gaiken was really distant to her, physically speaking, the young Jounin was waiting for the girl to respond. TAG: Kaede Shimotsuki Masaki WORDS: 313 NOTES: Sorry for the tiny post, I ran out of "Ammo" after replying to 3 threads @.@

You got to cry without weeping Talk without speaking Scream without raising your voice The normally composed face of Masaki turned flat as he spotted two figures just past the gates of Iwagakure. Had he not asked the gatekeeper to send Kaede and Gaiken to the mountain base to meet him? Masaki’s face flamed red as he realized that he was now the late member to their group and he had inconvenienced everyone by trying to make them meet somewhere out of the norm. And for what? Because he wanted to get in a bit of pre-mission stretches? Yes, this mission was an A-ranked mission and required its participants to be in excellent shape but it also required team unity. He hadn't helped that with this little episode. Without allowing any more time to pass between his teammates waiting and Masaki’s image being tarnished by it, the man vanished in a puff of smoke. ( Shunshin no Jutsu – Body Flicker Technique) Masaki ended up at the base of the mountain, jogging his way over to his fellow companions as he closed the distance between them. It bugged Masaki mercilessly that he was making them wait, a faint flicker of paranoia shimmering through the rigid man’s blood. It took him a few minutes to reach the pair and when he did the jounin stilled to a halt, his breathing only slightly elevated from the quick jog. “I apologize for keeping you waiting,” he started, smiling briefly at Gaiken who he’d work with before and then nodding politely at Kaede. “I’d ask the gatekeeper to direct you over to the mountain for us to meet and begin but I suppose he didn’t do so.” Masaki was annoyed at this, of course, but he still blamed himself for changing the mission up from what it is normally. “Are we ready to begin?”

MY GIRLFRIEND | She's mad yo~ |
She kept on waiting. And waiting. But nobody showed up, much to her irritation. God, how Kaede hated waiting... If she wanted something, that thing should have arrived the very moment she called for it! And if that was impossible, then she should have fetched it for herself with her own power. But at the current situation, she couldn't do the latter, so only waiting on the troublesome partners was her resort. Tapping her finger nervously in irritation against her arm as she sat cross-armed on the ground, Kaede felt her patience fed up. It's not even been ten minutes though, but she still hated the idea of just sitting there and waiting. In her laziness and unconcern on the matter, she didn't even check who it was she was going on this mission with. "Where the hell are they...!?" Soon enough however, her expectations were met.
The first voice to reach her was a familiar one; it was a Jounin's voice. Someone she looked up to in a very bad way: not admiration, not in the least. No, this guy was 'contest'. Someone to surpass; an existence superior to her's, despite being of similar age. He was plainly more talented, or had more effort in. She learned that in their unfortunate meeting last time, and vowed to surpass this bastard in time. At least he served as a motivating point... Kaede brought her face upon her palm as the guy called her from the distance, after she turned her head to see who it was. She frowned. "You...? They sent you with me...?" But, there was no helping this. She stood up with a sigh, holding her arms by the elbows. "Well, at least I can say it's safer with Gaiken's ability around..." She gave an apathetic praise to the man. She did appreciate, and acknowledge, his skill and power as a Shinobi individual. It's just that she was annoyed with how he was so much better than she in that aspect. Brushing her hair from her shoulder with her hand, she looked to the guy in the eyes. Nothing has changed from the last meeting, it appears.
The second one to arrive was someone she did not know however. He did appear polite and very authoritative, as if he's been used to leading squads for a while now. He was also apparently older than the other two. "Well, none of that matters, right? We're all here now, after all..." She exclaimed with a sigh regarding the older man's almost scorning comment. As he heard Kaede's questionably supporting words, the gatekeeper couldn't help but crack a smile. Now a bit less irritated with her anxiety answered - make that two: who she goes with and when will they arrive, Kaede began immediately advancing in Nishioka settlement's direction. At the very least, she had known where it was located.
"Alright, let's not waste any time and go." She started, already walking there. Regardless if the other two were to follow her or not. Kaede then turned her head towards the other two. "Ah, yeah. If you spot any large, red flags with the character for 'Nishi' (西) on it, make sure to pick it up and notify us. It's probably their way of signaling for us." MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS & THQ
