While it is not mandatory that you have a huge list of jutsu to use, without at least some you will find yourself at a distinct disadvantage in combat. In this thread we will go into detail on how you can start acquiring your own jutsu for use IC. You will need to start by either creating your own custom technique or applying to use a canon one, which will be listed elsewhere on the site. Jutsu can belong to any of the eight shinobi jutsu classifications or one of their subcategories and will allow a person to perform actions that would otherwise be impossible for a regular human.
To apply for a technique, regardless of whether it is custom or canon, you must make a post in the Development Center section. You do not need to apply for any E-rank techniques from the series, as it is expected that every shinobi on this site would be able to use them, or at least know how to. However any jutsu, from D-rank to S-rank must be approved by staff.
Once your technique is approved the staff will confirm the cost for that skill. If you have the money and agree with the price you can confirm the purchase of that ability. That thread will then be locked and you can add it to your character's Bingo Book entry. However before you use it IC you must meet any additional criteria set out by the staff that approved it (for instance, if the technique you applied for was a custom one created by another member you may be required to train with them IC). Now, if you don't have the money to purchase it or disagree with the price you can choose not to immediately purchase it. In this case it will be moved to an area for all approved but not purchased jutsu. Until you have purchased the skill however you will be unable to use it IC. One final thing to note though is that if you are currently engaged in an IC thread when your technique is approved you will not be able to use that jutsu until your character finishes whatever it is they were doing (this can be overridden so long as all participants in a thread agree).
Note: All new characters will receive a set number of free jutsu. How many will be determined by your starting rank and information regarding this can be found in the character creation section of the board. When applying for one of your free jutsu please make sure to identify that it is intended as a free one. If you don't do this it can be confusing and we may end up pricing it out instead. To make the lives of our staff members really easy, just include the words Free Jutsu either in the title of your post or bolded at the top of it.
Here is the template you must fill out when applying for a jutsu:
Name: What is the name of the jutsu?
Classification: What shinobi battle tactic does this skill fall under? If it belongs to a subcategory, list that instead.
Rank: What rank is your jutsu?
Type: Offensive, defensive or supplementary?
Element: What nature transformation is necessary to use this technique? If none, just put N/A.
Description: Describe in great detail what your technique does. Be as clear and informative as you can be, going so far as to include things like size of the technique, range of the technique and how fast it activates/travels.
Additional Information: Anything not covered by the fields above can be placed here, such as whether or not a certain Kekkai Genkai is required to use your technique.
