Welcome
some intro,
Welcome to Unison Sign! We are a reimagined Naruto site taking place in an alternate world to the one from the canon. The continent we live on has greatly destabilized since the emergence of chakra. Bijuu now roam the earth and secrets from centuries ago are being discovered. To protect themselves and to better prepare for the road ahead, clans of shinobi have started to band together in groups and are setting up villages in which they can reside free of discrimination. Join us as we build this world from the ground up.

some info
OUT OF CHARACTER! Unison Sign is officially open! We've completely overhauled the site giving it a new look, new backstory, and new role playing system. We're still rolling out information posts and making changes to the board but feel free to get started on your characters and jump into the role play whenever you're ready. Make sure you are familiar with all of our new threads before you do though!
IN CHARACTER With the release of the bijuu and chakra reappearing in humans, the world has become incredibly unstable. To protect themselves from discrimination and prepare for the trials ahead clans of shinobi have started to gather together to form villages. Two villages already exist and this has put pressure on other clans to start to come together under their own banners. Will you help create these villages or do everything you can to stop them?

It had been awhile since he left the Land of Water. Most of his recent missions had kept him close to home. Takigakure was a headache to even think about. It seemed like the weather there was awful there. It had been awhile, since he visited the distant village and he was unsure how it looked after ten years. The last time he was there, it had rained twelve days straight. Trying to use fire ninjutsu in the rain was aggravating to say the least. Though, he was a lot younger and wasn't as capable or experienced as he is now. The past was the past and it was a new age. He was responsible for this younger generation of shinobi and he hoped to lead them to success on this mission.
"Time to go. We're earlier than scheduled and we need to keep it that way," Devro stated while getting to his feet. He didn't necessarily want to rush his comrades, but it was better to be safe than sorry. The mission depended on them to protect rich man. The risk and dangers of this mission were high. There were a lot of outcomes that were possible. The details of the mission were straight forward. The exception to this straightforward mission was that they didn't know what kind of enemy they were facing. Konoha had many brilliant and deadly ninja as Kiri had, but they did have the upper hand. He hoped the Mizukage had made the right decision in choosing this team. He wasn't sure of who they were and at first purposed not to get to know them. Though, something in him decided that it would probably be better, for the sake of the mission, to get a feel of everyone's abilities.
"As we move on, I would like to get an assessment of your abilities. This will include your elements, preferred fighting style, and combat specialty. If it was up to me, I would have fought each of you individually, but we don't have the time or luxury for that. So, let's get moving and anyone can introduce themselves. The order doesn't matter," he spoke while beginning to turn from the group and waited for them to get ready. He knew working with a new group of people was a different experience with each new group, but he was patient.

in a maze without an end | why do you still breathe? |
“We’ve got a long way to go after all,” Himawari muttered as she kept her pace just behind the pierced man, incredibly unimpressed with their expected distance of travel. Clawing their way out of the Land of Waters would have been enough, but now they'd have to skirt through the mainland to get to Takigakure. With the Land of Fire being a close neighbour, it was honestly a race for time against the Konohagakure assassins. Takigakure was no vacation spot, the tokubetsu jounin could still clearly recall each and every sopping wetand miserable humid encounter that brought her to its land due to previous missions. It was like the unwanted lovechild of Amegakure (not Kirigakure, because she was not willing to commit treason even in her own mind) and Konohagakure with its forest rain and heat.
She wryly hoped that Takigakure's would reach it's highest annual rainfall by the time they got in contact their client—maybe the gods loved them enough that the twats from the Land of Fire would be dragged away by the floods. But then again, she thought as she eyed her squad captain, that would have probably worked against all of them.
She’d heard of him before, even seen him a few times in meetings and at the tower. The Dragon of the Mist, they called him, memorable for his unique elemental components. Though, Himawari better recognised him as one of the most ironic people to have walked Kirigakure’s shores. Fire release... Lava release, she mused internally, in the Land of Water. And his family name is Yukimura.
And of course, for the fact that he had no eyebrows. She briefly wondered if it was an intimidation tactic. It successfully horrified her, though for different reasons.
“Hirameku Himawari—my primary element is lightning,” the girl piped in feeling extraordinarily unextraordinary in the group of multi-natured shinobi. “I specialise in ninjutsu and taijutsu, so I’m good for mid to short range fighting.”
Throwing a brief glance at the other boy, she began to trace her surmised dynamic of the squad. It shouldn’t be too difficult to adjust with a third member, so long as they communicated well enough. With a slightly dry smile, Himawari continued, “Noricchi and I have known each other for a while. He's kinda grumpy, but we’re probably an okay team.”

He nodded his head in agreement to her response. A deep breath was taken with a loud sigh. He felt like this mission wasn't even worth the Ryo, but he knew that complaining about it wouldn't solve anything. The mission would take effect as soon as they stepped foot in Takigakure. The scent of rain became stronger than what it was before. The lightning in the sky would make things a little bit difficult, but not too much. They were from Kiri and dealt with these kind of things all of the time. It was no biggie. Other than making his fire techniques somewhat doused if it rained too hard.
Due to the mission rank, whatever or whoever they came against had to be dispersed. Death was a high possibility when missions of this caliber were involved. If push came to shove, he would let the client die than let his fellow shinobi die. He had seen the face of death many times and had killed many more. It was an inevitable thing that all lifeforms had to experience. The way of a shinobi was a quick way to enter into a grave. That would be if you were lucky enough to even make it to a grave.
"We don't have much travel time, but it would be nice to set up a perimeter around the clients house. We'll continue back into the trees. Storm's coming in hard and I'm glad we were able to avoid it this long. If you don't won't to do this, you can turn back now," he spoke calmly. He gathered chakra in his feet and moved upward into the closest tree. From there on, he started pushing forward toward Takigakure. The feeling of excitement started to overcome him. It had been awhile since he dealt with a "real" threat. This would be a perfect time to try out his skills to the fullest potential. After about an hour, the rain picked up and thunder shook his bones. It was just as he remember...The Hidden Waterfall.

Raising an eyebrow at his sigh, the girl continued to watch her team captain through her peripherals as he eyed the skies. Though however inappropriate—and perhaps slightly hypocritical since she was equally as paranoid as the other shinobi, if not more so—it was faintly amusing to see such an imposing figure to look so blatantly... agitated? Concerned? Whatever it was, it was significantly more favourable than the last squad leader who'd placed her as canon fodder in her last mission. For the good of the mission, they would say. But, then again, most shinobi were assholes like that.
Turn back, he said, as if she could, as if she wouldn’t be metaphorically stoned with shame from her peers for abandoning a mission or with guilt for abandoning her squad members. A corner of her mouth quirked into a small smile, an amalgam of insulted and appreciative, as she shook her head. “Nah, no thanks,” she said, propelling herself onto the tree, footsteps silent as she followed his lead. “That’d be pretty lame, if I did.”
“Agreed on establishing a perimeter. Has the client got security aside from us?” she asked, wrinkling her nose slightly at the idea of dealing with infiltration. They probably would have made for nice meat shields, if she were that cruel. She probably wasn’t. Guard the scummy rich man from gods know what, oh yes, that was always fun. Risk your lives for some shady scoundrel with limited information, ah, the life of a shinobi. It was honestly no wonder the people of the back countries looked at them with hostile eyes; they were protecting the wealthy and corrupt miscreants for a bag of ryo.
Lifting her hand to wiggle her gloved fingers, Himawari only grinned, the voltages of her lightning dancing across her own teeth. “Can’t say much about the opposition, but if it’s the storm you worry about, I might be of some use against it. Or have a use for it,” she said before her cheeky expression sobered into one of mock disappointment, “but then again, they might, too, huh? Hm, that’s not very comforting. Oh, well. If they manage to maneuver through the water better than I can, I probably deserve getting my head sent back to Konoha.”
Then she pursed her lips, scrutinising the man with narrowed eyes. “Maybe if we build you a giant umbrella... mist patterns would be nice, right, Mister Volcano?"

-I gave you my word and i gave you my life- Set up a perimeter? What were they guarding, the client or the client's house? Three people around a single house was... Ienori didn't like it. It would be far easier to protect the client if they took him to a more strategic location, with one ninja accompanying the man at all times and the others spread out. Of course, Devro was right not to infringe on the client's privacy but... At the end of the day, they were being paid to keep the client alive, not worry about his privacy. Surely this demon of a client could deal with a little discomfort in exchange for staying out of the fires of hell a little longer. Hah. Fires of hell. Hopefully this squad would make it through this battle against the shinobi of the Land of Fire in one piece. Uneasy about the plan but unwilling to speak up against a war veteran with infinitely more experience than either Ienori or his colleague had—Ienori sighed and kept quiet, forgetting, in his worries, to formally introduce himself to his teammates. He already saw more than enough of Himawari, and Devro was memorable enough that Ienori at least remembered seeing the jounin in the village once or twice. Remembering a bit after his kunoichi friend's short self-inventory, Ienori snapped to attention. "Hoshino Ienori." Following Himwari's lead, Ienori too introduced himself, though his came a little strained. "Earth's my primary element, though I specialize in Wood and subsequently Water as well." Right, what else? "I'm down with Ninjutsu, Bukijutsu, and Genjutsu, and I prefer fighting more defensively. Also, surprise attacks are beautifully brilliant things so if you want to– Er, nevermind." Shut up mouth now is not the time to ramble. Okay now refrain from snapping at Himawari, refrain from snapping at Himawari– And oh god it had started raining. And there was thunder. And where there was thunder, there would surely be– This time, Ienori couldn't help letting out an almost strangled groan as why does this shit always happen to us and I hope those Konoha bastards die painful deaths like we're going to if Himawari lets loose ran through his head but what came out of his mouth was "God, please don't let the lightning rod fry us all to death before we even reach our client." Actually, it was a wonder that Ienori hadn't become immune to electricity after all the times his childhood friend had shocked him, accidentally or not.
