Ikite iru Akumu no Jutsu is the name Murakami gave to the ability of his right eye. This is the ability to trap any victim into a Genjutsu of their worst nightmare. This Genjutsu cannot be deactivated, and must be allowed to run its course. It will break on its own once the nightmare has ended. There is no method of actviation for this technique. The victim simply needs to look into the nightmare eye, and they are instantly trapped. Once a victim has been trapped once, the eye can no longer effect them. Murakami wears an eye patch to hide the eye, to avoid undesired victims. In order to use it, he'll simply lift the eye patch, revealing the eye.

The eye can only effect a victim once. In order to trap a victim in the nightmare, the eye must be visible to the victim. If they cannot see the eye, they cannot be trapped. The genjutsu has the potential to destroy the victims minds, or even kill them, if they are weak willed. The strong minded may not be effected to such a degree, but will still probably have some side-effects, even if they are only temporary. There are no known side-effects, aside from the destruction of one's mind, and death, that have been experienced so far.
