OUT OF CHARACTER! Unison Sign is officially open! We've completely overhauled the site giving it a new look, new backstory, and new role playing system. We're still rolling out information posts and making changes to the board but feel free to get started on your characters and jump into the role play whenever you're ready. Make sure you are familiar with all of our new threads before you do though!
IN CHARACTER With the release of the bijuu and chakra reappearing in humans, the world has become incredibly unstable. To protect themselves from discrimination and prepare for the trials ahead clans of shinobi have started to gather together to form villages. Two villages already exist and this has put pressure on other clans to start to come together under their own banners. Will you help create these villages or do everything you can to stop them?

Ryuunosuke SuohShido's kazekage seemed to love to assign Shido to tedious tasks. Checking the borders between Suna and Iwa was a long and boring mission. One, the distance there was a two day journey. Two, there was nothing ever going on within that border. The minor countries there had no major village, so the area was shared borders with Iwa and Suna, plus Suna and Iwa were on good terms. But still, a mission was a mission. Honestly, Shido wanted to get out a bit anyway, and do an easy going mission. Rather than the constant A-rank missions he always had. This mission was just a simple C-rank... maybe B-rank if he ended up running into trouble. What seemed like forever... or maybe it seemed quick? Shido could not tell, but he was at the border lands. Fura dove into a slow arc towards the ground and settled down on a medium sized rock. Shido sniffed the air. His sense of smell was not the greatest, however, in the air, there seemed to be a faint fowl smell. Fura must have picked up on it too, because the owl spread its wings and took off, landing on a larger rock the size of Shido. As Shido followed Fura, the rank smell grew stronger. As soon as Shido saw behind the rock, he knew that this was not a good sign. He had heard rumors of various shinobi disappearing from all villages, even his own village. This, however, was the first that Shido personally saw it for himself. There behind the rock laid a chuunin from his own village, and piled on top of that body was another body that Shido recognized to be from Iwa from the clothes. Probably a chuunin as well. Shido bit his lower lip as he contemplated on what to do. "Fura, go see if you can find more bodies. I'm going to bury these two." The owl nodded in understanding and took off. Just as Shido finished burying the two bodies, Fura came back. A look into Fura's eyes, Shido understood the owl's thoughts. The thoughts being a confirmation of one more body in the near distance. Shido followed Fura yet again to the new location. The body was of another Iwa shinobi. "Fura, I'm going to attach a message to you. Go report it back to the kazekage." Shido said as he took out a small scroll and starting writing on it. A moment later, he attached the scroll to Fura's leg, and the owl was gone in what seemed to be in the blink of an eye. Shido knelt down next to the fallen shinobi. "How did this happen?" Shido spoke to himself, shaking his head in disbelief.

Ryuunosuke shifted his coat a bit, hiking himself up onto a rock to look out over the land in front of him. Mist still clung to the land, but it was slowly dissipating, leaving just a cool breeze. He would have enjoyed the change in temperature if he wasn't so tempered to the heat from the Suoh compound. This place just made him feel so cold. However, he wasn't out here to complain. The Tsuchikage had sent him out here to search for shinobi. With the stories of bodies being found across the lands, the Tsuchikage didn't want to leave any of their own out here for too long. It was easy to steal a villages information just from what could be found on their person. He leaped off the rock, landing easily on the ground. Surging ahead, he ran for a while, finding that he warmed up more as the minutes went on. Exercise always helped with body heat. This land was so rocky that there wasn't much cover. It was easy to spot the purple haired shinobi bent over a deceased from Iwagakure. Alarm shot through him and he pressed forward, not even trying to hide his presence. He would fight over that body if he needed to. Landing a bit away, he crossed his arms over his chest, staring at one of his gloved hands, "I'd back away from tha' body iffin' I were 'ou." It wasn't meant to be a threat. No, it was a warning. Ryuu needed to be able to get at his comrade. He needed to take him home so that they could give him a proper burial. Not waiting for Shido to step away, he started forward, crouching down in front of the man. To say that he was shocked would be an understatement. He recognized this shinobi as one of his own clan mates, and that made him almost furious. If there hadn't been a Suna shinobi standing right there, he would have punched something. Sighing heavily, he reached forward and touched this shinobi's face. "May 'ou rest in peace, Ryuujin," he murmured softly, shaking his head. Looking back up at Shido, he frowned, "Please tell me 'ou found 'im and di'in't kill 'im yerself," Ryuunosuke said quietly, before glancing around once more. "Were there others? Ryuujin di'in't leave alone, ya know."Shido Mori

Ryuunosuke SuohShido had a startled moment as the newcomer spoke, who was difficult to understand, but mainly because Shido never ran into someone with this type of speech pattern. Looking up into the golden eyes, Shido stepped away, hands up to show there were no weapons. "You have another fallen shinobi. I buried him along with another shinobi from my village." Shido said, pointing behind him to two mounds in the near distance. "Judging by their decomposition rate, I'd say they've been out here for about three days. So no, it wasn't I who killed them. Besides, do I look like I was in a battle?" Shido asked this last part a bit defensively, with a hint of sarcasm. By no means, this was no joking matter. But Shido was clean cut. No dirt on his clothes, no scratches, not out of breath, etc. Though Shido could understand this man was just shocked. Shido was shocked too, and had he found someone here while he saw a fallen comrade, Shido would have probably acted the same way as this stranger. "I don't know what your mission is here, but might I suggest that we try to track down who did this together? This just doesn't seem right, so if we're both investigating this, might as well do it together." Shido suggested. Just then, Fura appeared again. With how quick that was, Fura must have transported himself. There was a reply from the kazekage that read: Investigate into this incident, take as long as you need. Send Fura with important updates. Shido rolled up the scroll and placed it into his pocket, looking back to the Iwa shinobi for an answer. ((Bit short, I'll try harder next time))

The man was right. He didn't look like he had been in a fight and with the shape that this body was in, he doubted that the Suna Shinobi had anything do to with the murders. Sometimes, in grief, it was easy to forget who the allies were. He didn't honestly think that Shido had killed the Iwa shinobi. It would have been easy for any missing ninja or enemy team to come across the now dead, especially since this land served as a gap in the borders between the two nations. Ryuu sighed heavily, running his hand up into his bangs as he stared down at his fallen comrade and clan mate. He wracked his brain, trying to remember what shinobi left with Ryuujin, his expression concentrated. If Ryuu remembered correctly, there had been two other shinobi in the squad. That meant that either Yato or Rin were dead. An unfavorable outcome any way that he looked at the situation. "Alri, alri. Show me th' other dead shinobi, please," he noted, watching Shido now. He wasn't going to let the other man out of his sight. Not because he was suspicious, but because one wrong move and they could end up dead as well. Ryuunosuke wasn't willing to let that happen. He wasn't sure about teaming up with this foreign Jounin, but there was strength in numbers. If Shido was as strong as he appeared, then the two would, hopefully, be just fine on their own. He didn't even need to ask the Tsuchikage to proceed. This was exactly why he was out here in this barren wasteland. He didn't have to think long. Crossing his arms over his chest, he cleared his throat. Time to stop sounding like his mouth was full of fluff, "We're better off together, rather than alone. I was sent out here to investigate where the team had ended up, and two of them are accounted for. I just need to see the other body to know which of my comrades we should be looking for. Hopefully they are still alive. It just means we should get moving if we're going to find any clues."Shido Mori
