Striving to bloody meh sword or just burn everything to a crisp.Kiri Mission | again...
we salt the earth | |
Dawn was approaching. The bright oranges and the reds of the sun were covering the greatness of the vast sky. It reminded him of his time waking up in the early daybreak with his father to view the sunset. His mother would cook biscuits with pork sausage cooked into the dough. He sighed in a relaxed way of the memory. The feelings of nostalgia started to flow through him. He then made a promise to himself that he would visit his mother after this misson. How ever long this mission would take, he would be sure that he would come out alive.
The leap off of the edge of the rowboat that ended in a splat. "Oh great..marshlands," he mumbled while pouring chakra through his feet ontop of the murky water. He would wait for his comrades to exit the boat before he would pull the boat out of the water. Hopefully, being assisted by at least one of them. There was a light fog that lightly covered the thicket of trees and cattails. The mission was to take down a Nukenin from Kumogakure. Kumogakure was always known for many things one of them was producing crafty Jounin. He didn't know much about the target other than what was given in the mission details. A raiton and doton user. That was a bit trouble some, but he wasn't sure of her overall skills.
The ways of a shinobi varied from person to person. Some wanted to protect their family and their village, while others had higher goals. Devro wasn't the one that truly had a shinobi way. Most of his life, he aspired to be like his father. Though, the war had changed him and many others. He currently wanted to see his village thrive and secretly aspired to have great power. He didn't like the current Mizukage even though he had fought with him on the battlefield a few times. The Mizukage was a strong person, but was terrible in how he dealt with politics. Devro thought that he could have made a better Mizukage, but could careless for holding the position itself. He always kept these thoughts to himself. It could be considered treason if he ever muttered them aloud. Kirigakure's administration didn't look too kindly on treason. The village was still divided even after the war ended. He wasn't sure why the current kage was chosen, but he tried not to dwell on the thoughts.
Not giving direct eye contact with his comrades, he started to take a couple of steps toward the tree line. "It's best we get moving. The faster we take these guys out the better. I'm itching to bleed these guys to out," he said while drawing his blade from his back. The Volcano Slayer was his prized weapon. It's origin hailed from the land of his ancestors. The blade had spilled a lot of blood, but only from his hand was it ever wielded. Without waiting for a response from his comrades, he hopped onto the nearest branch and began darting away to locate his first victims. He was taking this mission as a training exercise, but he knew the consequences of making a mistake could be futile.
He hoped that his comrades followed behind him or at least were able to keep up. It would be very inconvenient if they were to get separated. They didn't know the enemies strengths or size, which made the mission a bit tricky. It was nothing that he hadn't dealt with before. The idea of not knowing was somewhat exciting. Though, his excitement probably came from having not trained for a few days. Constant training usually kept him calm and collected, though today...today he was going to kill somebody. Everyone had to die some time or another. He had to make sure that his comrades would come out alive. Looking back to check if his comrades were behind him.
Then, he looked toward a group of four men. One was maintaining a makeshift campfire that was sending scent of fish into the tree tops. Two were taking a nap in sleeping bags and the remaining one seemed to be reading a book. After monitoring them for a short while, he noticed that the one reading a book had a weapon at his side. The weapon looked foreign to him. It was the form of a large hammer. He had seen many types of weapons in the war, but by far that was a strange weapon. Devro scratched his chin with left hand and decided to sheath his blade. He wasn't sure on how he should go about this, but he definitely wanted to see that monstrosity of a hammer in action. Shrugging his shoulders, he squatted down on the tree branch like a hawk eyeing its prey.
He figured that it would be best to take out the majority of the guys in one go. The guy with the hammer happened to be the furthest away from him so, he did what thought was appropriate at the time. He formed the tiger hand seal and inhaled deeply. The fire chakra began stirring in his gut. It was then expelled through a wide flame that rained down fire from among the trees. Katon: Gōka Mekkyaku The flame from his mouth consumed the surrounding area and the heat caused the trees to catch a flame. He knew that this technique would catch them off guard. Surprise attacks weren't really his thing, but he rather have the advantage in catching them off guard.

Give me a reason 'cause I got nothing to gain So what are we doing now? Feeling complacent, I cannot be contained. I'm so lost and lonely now. Morning, Shimo could smell the dew in the air as he inhaled a slow, deliberate breath. He stood quietly like a statue in front of his private residence, his body in the form of a basic Bushido swordsman stance as he felt a soft breeze roll by. This was what he did every morning, going as far back as he could remember when he had laid his hands upon the elegant form of a blade as his began to roll his shoulders and move his arms with the blade. The beautifully polished and shining blade whipped and cut through he air effortlessly without making a single sound as the man started to move his legs along with his swipes, forming a sort of dance with the movements as a soft smile etched across his lips. For some reason, one he could not even fathom, this simple act just seemed to melt all of his problems away in the world as if it were some sort of stress release and never once has it failed to deliver. After one final swipe, he whipped the blade around and jutted it out to his side before pulling the sheath for the blade from the sash around his waist, effortlessly guiding the tip of the blade into it before sliding it close with a audible click as the blade shut into the sheath. It was time for breakfast, and so he turned towards his home and headed inside. Moving into the kitchen, he set the blade next his table and moved for his fridge where he pulled out some eggs, rice, pre chopped beef, and a bit of salt and pepper. He set to work prepping everything, setting all in different bowls in order to know when to cook what first. It was about this time that he started to get everything heated up there was a knock at his door, causing him to jump a bit as he shuffled quickly, doing his best to get everything off the open flame and setting it upon his plate before rushing towards the door. Upon opening it, he was greeted by another shinobi of his village, causing him to smile as he spoke, "Akira...what're you doing here so early in the morning?", Shimo asked, to which the fellow shinobi held out a scroll towards him. "Mission I'm afraid, no time for a social visit. Mizukage said come as soon as you are able so I'd get a move on.", the man said with a soft smile. Shimo took the scroll in his hand, unsealing it and opening it up to read the contents to which he let out a soft huff of frustration. "Great...just what I needed, a bounty mission. Right...let me eat, gather my gear, and i'll head out. Looks like me and Devro Yukimura are working together again so I can at least look forward to that. See you around Akira...", Shimo said as the man nodded and disappeared. Shimo closed the door to his home as he headed back into the kitchen and set about to warming the food up a few moments to make up for the loss of heat it had gained from earlier. Once he had finished, mixed it together and ate it, he gathered his gear and set out to the meeting point, where once they showed up the group quickly set out on the mission. Shimo stepped out of the boat after Devro, hearing his gripe about the marshland area they were in. While Marshlands normally didn't bother him too much, it presented them all with a bit of a double-edged sword problem against their target. They all used water jutsu, that was a given and the water source around them would help out a lot in that practice but the problem was that their target was a Raiton user which could present a problem should they stay in the water too long. He helped Devro secure the boat out of the water, commenting to the man as he did so, "It'll be fine, just use the trees and keep quiet and we'll be fine, just like old times.", he said with a soft smile before looking back at Himawari with the same smile. He hadn't really worked with the woman before but he hoped this mission would be the first of many adventures together, if there was one thing he did like, it was the partnership between his fellow shinobi. Still, if there was one person he did have a history with, that was most definantly Devro. After all, that war had put the two of them together on many battlefields, the burning magma and frozen user, seemingly polar opposites seemed to go together quite well when it came to causing chaos. That was when they came across the four men, Devro being the first to spot them as he formed up next to him. "Let's take this quiet, we don't need to make a big deal out of these guys.", he said to his comrade from the branch across from his, crouched down as he began to think out a plan in his head on how they could act. It was about halfway through when Devro decided to say fuck that and went on the offensive. As the fire rained down, Shimo knew he had to act fast in order to help minimalize a response from the group of men down below them so he brought his fingers up in front of him, forming the necessary seal as he spoke. "Kage Bunshin No Jutsu!!", soon afterwards a clone of Shimo appeared next to him as they both withdrew their swords, holding them reversely. He decided that the two of them would go for the ones sleeping on the mat, taking them out quickly would enable his clone to help Devro while he rushed to help Himawari with her opponent. It was time to set the plan into action as they leapt down at the same time, sword arced downwards in an angled impalment like strike as they lunged for their targets. MADE BY VEL OF GS

it was, and it's been a long time, it was
| but now it's not mine |
Lifting a hand to cover a silent yawn, Himawari alternated from indolently watching her teammates to making odd faces at any fish that so happened to near and rush away from their rowboat. There was a slight bout of appreciation over the fact that the suspected target’s location was still rather close to home, however, it dwindled upon realising that they would indeed be stuck in the marshlands. Though it would traditionally place the Kiri nin at an advantage due to the aqueous landscape, there was no doubt in her mind that the Kumogakure ninja and their nukenin leader would have plenty experience maneuvering around the muddy environment. And not once in her lifetime did she meet a shinobi who particularly enjoyed the texture of dried mud in their sandals anyway. Mentally running through the checklist of potential threats, Himawari nearly sighed, wondering just exactly why she was assigned to go against combatants who she probably, more or less, shared the same skill-set with. Perhaps it was a good thing she bothered to kiss her protesting sister’s forehead prior to leaving. But then again, her colleagues did have a reputation—both in experience and skill, as well as their own teamwork—so it wouldn’t be impossible for her to return home in one piece. A small part of her wanted to apologise to the two for interrupting their would-be bromance mission while the majority of her just hoped she wouldn’t get in their way. Stepping off the boat, Himawari watched the two men secure the boat with age-old lethargy before looking around to briefly assess their surroundings—more so out of boredom than anything else. Silently agreeing with Yukimura’s grumbling, she returned Shimo’s smile with a nod and an awkward one of her own, assuming their “old times” referred to their time at the war. She wondered if Yukimura had eyebrows back then and even thought to ask, but managed to restrain herself until she found a more appropriate moment. Leaning over slightly to look around her elephantine associates—because seriously, why were people so tall—Himawari pursed her lips at the sight of the four Kumogakure ninja. Tilting her head up, she piped in with a voice small yet clear, “They’re fairly close in quarters. They might be Kumonin but I’m sure I can stun them and maximise—”The heated, rising wind from her superior’s fire jutsu felt drying against her skin. “... the effects of the following attack,” she finished belatedly and flatly, her face the most deadpan expression one could manage at such an early hour. Breathing in deep, the Kirigakure ninja launched herself off the branch, her lightning chakra unfurling in a volatile burst before curling around her silhouette. Taking advantage of the turmoil Yukimura’s fire jutsu ignited, Himawari fell into the nearest Kumogakure ninja’s blind spot, leg extended to land a powered kick to their face. “Dynamic Entry!” she called out, far too much cheer infused in her voice at the satisfying sound of the man’s jaw dislocating upon contact. Personally, she’d never understood the need to call out the name of techniques, but the entrance kick was always far too comical not to announce. Making sure to concentrate the proper amount of chakra to her feet, Himawari landed on the water’s surface with a brief skid, knees bent slightly both to absorb impact and steady herself. “Sorry, cousin,” she said with a smile, electricity on her skin as she eyed her opponent who was half singed by the previous fire jutsu. “That’s a good look for you though.” MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS
