In this post you will find detailed information on all of the rules and guidelines associated with kekkei genkai. Please make sure to review this entire post before starting work on your own custom kekkei genkai.
- Every character is entitled to one custom kekkei genkai. You do not have to have one but you get one free one if you want it. You will be entitled to this for the entire life of your character so if you don't make one right away that is fine. You can create one later on down the road and play it off as your character just discovering the abilities.
- Advanced nature transformations are no longer a kekkei genkai. This means that so long as you have the affinity for a specific element (such as ice, lava, scorch, et cetera) then you can use jutsu with that element without a special kekkei genkai. We're fairly strict about what your character can have in the form of advanced nature transformations though so choose wisely when creating your character because you won't likely be permitted more than one. Note that there are a variety of ways that you can learn to use these elements. It might be passed down by blood (not a KKG, but similar in concept), a person might teach you to use the element, assuming you have a natural affinity for it, or you might simply stumble upon the ability yourself.
- You cannot apply for a canon kekkei genkai. You also cannot replicate a canon kekkei genkai and try and sell it to us with a different name. All KKG must be original.
- Clans can have their own kekkei genkai. All members of a clan with an approved KKG can choose to have it as well as their own custom KKG. This means that you can have two if you're a participating member of a clan.
- All kekkei genkai will continue to be watched IC and if issues arise with god-modding or a problem with it comes to light after it has already been approved, then staff are permitted to force you to change it. This will only be done when there is a glaring problem with the KKG that cannot be avoided strictly by warning the offending player.
- All powerful kekkei genkai must come with some sort of drawback. This might seem like common sense but in reality no one wants to intentionally give themselves a handicap in a fight. However we will still be looking for this, especially when it comes to powerful doujutsu or body enhancing KKG.
- If your character has a direct family tie to a character with an approved kekkei genkai, then you will be permitted to use that same KKG as your one free one. However you will not be permitted to make another one on top of this without staff approval.
- This one is a given but I will state it just for the sake of completeness. Your original kekkei genkai cannot be overpowered. This means that it cannot have any abilities that we have banned and it cannot allow you to god-mod IC.
- If your kekkei genkai has any special jutsu associated with it (such as Amaterasu with the Sharingan) then you will need to make this perfectly clear in your application while also providing complete applications for each different jutsu. Depending on their power, these jutsu will be available for a discounted price to all users of the KKG.
