Makoto IShiyama
24 | male | |
5'9" | 160 lbs | heterosexual |
ishiyama | tengokugakure | sagittarius |
appearance
Makoto is slightly shorter than the average Ishiyama male, standing at only five feet and nine inches tall. He has longer, black hair that almost always looks like he has just gotten out of bed. His eyes are burgundy in colour, and are normally the first thing anybody ever notices about him. His skin is incredibly pale, just like most members of the Ishiyama clan, and he has a thin body type.
Makoto’s clothing is all black in colour. He wears a tight, black, sleeveless shirt underneath another black, sleeveless top. On the back of this piece is the emblem of the Ishiyama clan, located directly in the middle of his shoulder blades. The undershirt has an extended neck that stretches up so that Makoto can cover the bottom half of his face with it. Covering his arms are normally black sleeves, completely separate from any of his tops. Covering his legs are a basic pair of well fitting, black pants. He wears the typical, black, shinobi shoes.
There is normally a smile across Makoto’s face. The smile isn’t usually genuine, and is usually quite deceitful, though it is quite rare that anybody can tell that it isn’t a true smile. He wears it in order to fit in with the rest of the people more. Sheathed across his lower back are two small swords. The handles extend outwards, away from each other so that Makoto can grab them easily from behind. Around his waist is a belt with two black pouches attached on either side of his hip. These pouches are used to hold any additional tools he might need, such as kunai, shuriken, and wire.
personality
Makoto is different from most of the others in the Ishiyama clan. He wears a deceitful smile on his face most of the time, normally hiding his true feelings. His smile is almost never genuine, even if he’s grown quite good at pretending. Makoto is the type of man who likes to toy with people, and see what comes of it. He has no issue with lying to others to get what he wants, because to him, there is nothing more important than himself. Makoto can be kind of an ass at times. Though he will lie to get what he wants, or simply lie to see what comes of it, Makoto will often also explain the truth to people, especially when it will hurt them in some way. He finds entertainment in it.
Remorse is something that Makoto cannot feel. He simply does not feel anything when he hurts others, or ends the life of another living being. Growing up, his parents and older sister, Noriko, knew about this mental instability. They taught him how to hide it, and so at times when it really matters, in order to hide his true nature, he pretends. In reality, he feels nothing of the sort, and could kill his own family with no second thoughts. Nobody knows about this instability, other than his parents. It is a well kept secret. They fear that if the rest of the clan were to find out, he’d be forced to leave. On the same note, Makoto doesn’t feel fear, either. No matter what he faces, fear is not a force that drives him. This can benefit him at times, but could eventually be the cause of his own death one day.
Talking is something that Makoto loves to do. He is an incredibly social person, and will often strike up a conversation with others. It is not uncommon for others to become annoyed at the amount of talking he does. Makoto tends to come off incredibly excited a lot of the times. He has no issue expressing his excitement over something he quite likes.
Combat is another of Makoto’s big interests. He values great strength, which is something that the Ishiyama all value. Makoto likes to learn new techniques, and develop new tactics. He’s always looking for new ways to get stronger. Since combat is something that Makoto loves, he tends to get overly excited when fighting with another shinobi to the death. Both he and his family have not determined if it is the rush of battle that fuels him in combat, or if it is a desire to end the life of the other person. It could even be a combination of both.
Growing up, Makoto had a hard time hiding some of his less than desirable traits. Because of this, making friends did not come easy to him as a child. As he grew older, he became quite talented at hiding the truth. Though he never became one of the more popular kids around, he did have an easier time holding conversations with people, and making new friends.
Makoto is willing to work with others on a mission, but refuses to ever take the lead. Makoto hates being put in charge of anything, and if he could have his way, he’d never lead anything. He’d much prefer to sit back and do as he’s told. This is not to say he prefers working in teams. Makoto would much rather work alone, but he’ll never make that obvious.
history
Makoto was born into a famous and powerful clan; the Ishiyama clan. He is the second child of Hisoka, his father, and Izumi, his mother. Makoto has an older sister, Noriko, who was born a year before he was. Hisoka and Izumi were excited to find out they were about to add a second child into the family. They were even more excited when Makoto was born into this world. As a baby, he was well behaved. He never cried, always laughed and smiled, and ate everything he was ever fed.
It wasn’t until Makoto’s second birthday that his parents discovered something about Makoto that made them uneasy. Just outside of a forest, Noriko ran outside to locate her little brother and bring him back for dinner. She found him in a field nearby, crushing insects with rocks violently. Noriko was not sure what to make of it, so she ran to get their parents. When they arrived, he was still at it. Hoping that it was just a weird phase, and that it would pass, Hisoka and Izumi tried to teach Makoto that it was wrong to do such things. Since the Ishiyama valued life, it was taboo to carelessly end the lives of living creatures.
As he grew older, his violent nature never dwindled. It only grew stronger. At the age of five, Hisoka caught Makoto with the corpse of a dead dog, standing above it with a huge grin on his face. In his hand was a makeshift knife. A blade made of rock, grass, and a tree branch. It was then that Hisoka realised that his son was not going through a phase. He was sick. Psychologically, there was something wrong. Hisoka brought his son back home, and spoke with Izumi about the situation. They both agreed to keep it a secret, because if the rest of the clan found out, Makoto would most definitely be banished.
Growing up, Makoto found it hard to make friends because of his less than charming personality. It was a work in progress, though. His parents were working hard to help Makoto learn how to hide certain things about him in order to make life a little easier. Eventually Makoto caught on, and grew quite talented at hiding the truth, and pretending to be somebody he was not. He started to have an easier time making friends and conversing with the people around him. Unfortunately, it was also clear to him that his parents favoured their eldest daughter, Noriko. He seemed to be more of a hindrance to his family than anything, and as the years went by, it became more and more obvious to him. It didn’t really bother Makoto, though. There wasn’t a lot in the world he cared about, and what his family truly thought of him certainly wasn’t one of them.
Makoto trained hard as a shinobi throughout his life. Members of the Ishiyama clan were all trained as shinobi from a young age. It was one of their beliefs as a clan. Makoto had shown great skill and strength. His ability to learn how to control his chakra was astounding, and his ability to calmly assess situations and act accordingly comes as a shock to many of the Ishiyama. This is one of the few things his parents are proud of, even though they know the truth behind his incredible ability to always stay calm in tough situations.
Since Makoto was so talented, he was often the one to be sent out on high risk tasks. Many people hesitated to accept these tasks, but since Makoto doesn’t feel fear, he never hesitates. He was always willing to accept these tasks, and still is. As a shinobi, he’s killed many other shinobi in order to accomplish the tasks assigned to him. Most definitely more than necessary, but he hides this fact from the rest of the Ishiyama, to avoid being reprimanded.
Recently, the Ishiyama founded Tengokugakure, a shinobi village in Seikatsu no Kuni. Makoto helped with the construction of this village, and now works as a shinobi for the village, as well as a shinobi for the Ishiyama clan. He is currently a member of the Ishiyama clan’s Shinigami, a group of elite shinobi tasked with high risk missions.
