"I have to do it Umashi" rang in his ears, such strong words for such a quiet girl. They rang with power and intention, and he respected that. This little lady wasn't the type of person to take anybody's crap. He knew there was nothing that he could do to stop her at this point, unless he chained her to a chair with three meals a day and bathroom breaks. But what kind of life would that be? He could see it deep in her brilliant, innocent eyes. . . She craved adventure just as much as he did, the only difference was that he had experienced quite a bit more than she had. A smile crossed his face, and an idea came into his mind. But before he could tell her what his idea was, she had stood up on top of the island. She seemed to be trying to touch his face, he didn't have to guess what she was after. She wanted to feel the misery that had been emblazoned onto his face for life. Heh, what an interesting kid as always. Unfortunately though, the girl's height difference and her posture on top of the counter prevented her from reaching it, and with one final push she had tried. . .
She failed. As the young girl let out a sigh she started to take a nose dive towards the ground. Umashi reacted suddenly to this, as only a ninja from Konohagakure could do. (#shotsfired) He did an incredibly complicated version of the twist, in a way it seemed like he was falling with her but he had absolute control over himself. As she landed into his arms in a baby's cradle. He looked down at her, his body contorted in an odd way. He started to chuckle softly as he set her back onto her feet. He stood up and looked down at her, raising one eyebrow and tapping her head with his pointer finger with moderate pressure as he said with heavy emphasis, "Ba-ka." he smiled, but then looked into her eyes. Squatting down so that he was eye level with her his face twisted into one of pain for a moment, he took her hand and pressed it up to the scar on his nose. Laying it there softly and holding her arm as he brushed it back and forth against the scar. A few tears dripping out of his eyes. He let her hand go and wiped his eyes, "Damn kid. How can I be the Suave Ninja when I feel like this?" "Heh." He stood back up and walked over to the pot, stirring it and adding the rest of the ingredients, not only the actual ingredients but everything he was feeling as well. It all went into the pot, when he turned back to the girl a smile was on his face. "Alright kiddo, you wanna see the world ehh? Well, my business in Iwagakure will not be for too much longer, when it's time for me to leave. You can come with me!" He chuckled and let that sink in as he turned back to the soup.

I'M GONNA DROWN YOU OUT BEFORE I LOSE MY MIND | Within seconds of her beginning her flawless nosedive towards the ground, Umashi was already moving into action. For someone as big as he was, he was fast. It took very little time at all for the giant's body to fold over, his arms catching her just inches before she would have hit the floor. "Ba-ka." he said, setting her down and pressing lightly on her forehead. "Hm?" she hummed curiously as he guided her tiny hand to the bridge of his nose. In the brief seconds she'd been allowed this intimacy, she watched the man break down. "It's ok." she said softly as he dropped her hand. A rouge tear drop grazing her pinky as he wiped the tears from his eyes. She lifted a hand to his head, patting it gently as though she were a mother comforting a child. And though it was clear she was trying, there was still something so hollow about her.
Umashi made his way back to the pot of soup, leaving Fumiko to stare into his back. It was odd having a man in the house. And even more out of the ordinary to have one cooking. Closing the distance between the two, she clung to his pant leg with her hands, and stood on his left foot as a boost. Though it just barely allowed her to see what was inside of the pot.
"You can come with me!"
Those were the golden, treasured words she'd been longing to hear. And her expression, once so emotionless and flat, lit up in excitement. "Shi!" she called, still hanging on to Umashi's pant leg. After a few short minutes, the snake appeared through the kitchen window, slithering inside and using Umashi's arm as a vehicle to get down to Fumiko. "We're leaving, Shi." she said, smiling at the snake as she coiled first around her arms, and then around her shoulders.
She could smell the soup now, and her experience in the kitchen dictated that it was likely done. Walking over to the cabinets, the pulled out two bowls. Still assuming a man of Umashi's stature must be hungry all of the time. |

"Hold it there kid we gotta eat first!" He said as she had finished calling her snake into the room, the snake seemed like it was okay with him because it used his arm to connect itself to the girl like they were one solid being. "Oy, who said he could come?" he had said in a childish and joking tone as she had gotten two bowls. He walked over and gently took them from her with a nod and served up some of his father's village famous recipe. He gestured for her to sit down and eat and did so himself. He rubbed his hands together excitedly as he said, "I haven't had this soup since I was a boy, I suddenly find myself quite hungry." Before he could eat though he snapped his fingers as he remembered something and stood up, rummaging through her drawers like he owned the place until he found two spoons and handed her one.
Sitting down he started eating heartily, a big smile coming onto his face. As he ate, he thought about a few things and realized that he still had some stuff he needed to do in the village. "Fumi?" He asked, looking towards her. "I have a few more things I need to do in the village. So I'm gonna be staying at an inn nearby and I'll come get you when it's time to go okay?" He smiled to her and nodded and then quickly finished his food. Once he had finished he stood up and cleaned his bowl out in the running water of the sink and then set it down on the counter on top of a towel he found to dry. He needed to stretch really bad. . . Eh, oh well.
Umashi suddenly heard a knock on the door, in a flash he had gotten to where his sword was located drawing it slightly. He looked towards Fumi and said softly, "Expecting anybody?"

I'M GONNA DROWN YOU OUT BEFORE I LOSE MY MIND | "Oy, who said he could come?" Her gaze quickly met his at this statement, analyzing his expression and tone. Thankfully, the man in front of her had merely been joking, and she broke her tense gaze. Shi was both like a family member to her and an extra limb. Fumiko loved the snake dearly, and the two were never caught far from each other. If Umashi had forbid the snake's attendance, she regrettably would have been forced to refuse his offer. And that was something she didn't want to do.
Following Umashi to the kitchen table, she sat across from and allowed him to set the table. Yet another duty she wasn't used to sharing. Still, she watched as he jumped up, rummaging through the kitchen drawers before returning with a spoon for the two of them. Taking her first spoonful, she gently plopped the spoon in her mouth. She hadn't expected the surge of comforting flavors, and her eyes widened in response. "It's good." she said, amazed. Though it took her a much longer time to finish her meal than the giant across from her.
"You can stay here," she offered, finally finishing off her bowl of soup and bringing the bowl over to the sink so that she could wash it. "Otou-san is never here. You can use his room." she explained, setting her now clean bowl on the towel Umashi had laid out.
A knock on the door cut their conversation short, and she watched in awe as Umashi arrived at his sword within a second. Slowly making her way over to the door, Shi coiled protectively around her, his head peaking over her shoulder as he hissed lightly. "No." she finally answered Umashi as she carelessly opened the door. Her gaze immediately traveled up, staring at a shinobi she didn't recognize. "Pardon the intrusion, but we're looking for someone." His hand lightly pushed on the door as he attempted to get a better look inside, earning a warning hiss from Shi. The Inland Taipan's mouth was slightly open, revealing his venomous fangs. |

He nodded once and then quickly shifted himself to a hiding place, he knew he couldn't kill anybody in the village. That wouldn't be good to their plans at all. But he could at least throw these guys off the trail, and he had just the idea to do it. After running through seals, he quickly activated another Henge no Jutsu transforming himself into a young man with short blonde hair and huge eyes the same color as Fumiko's. He set his sword down onto the ground and looked around his hiding place, luckily there was an apron there which he quickly threw over himself. He had adjusted his height so that he was much shorter, only about a foot taller than the girl. When this was done he walked out with a dishrag in his hands and an apron over his body. Walking up to the door he disguised his voice so that it was very light as he said, "Oh? Be careful my sister's snake is not fond of strangers. My name is Hashimoto Sato, who are you looking for?" The man gave him a quick one-over and then said with a very gruff voice, no longer trying to push his way in now that he had seen the boy. "There's been reports that a possible rogue shinobi might be in the village, have you seen any suspicious activity?" Umashi looked around the house for a second before laughing and saying, "Do you see any suspicious activity? I was just making lunch for myself and my younger sister. But if I hear of anything I'll be sure to let you know." The man stood in the doorway for several seconds, staring before nodding and saying, "Yea... If you hear of anything, alert the nearest shinobi that you see." He nodded once and started to leave as Umashi closed the door, and walked over to the pot of soup.
Releasing the transformation he quickly said, "I'll put the leftovers away, can you make sure to close all the blinds? But do it in a way that seems highly inconspicuous. I'll also be unable to stay at the inn for the time being, do you know of anywhere safe I could stay?" He asked while he found a container and put the rest of the soup into it, throwing it into the fridge he walked over to where he had been hiding and retrieved his sword, for caution's sake he undid the cord and re-wrapped it around his back. If they had any suspicions, they might be back in a few hours with a much bigger force. If that ended up being the case (although it would be worst case) then he would have to fight his way through with the girl and then get out of the village as quickly as possible, but he felt as if he had done a good job with his transformation so there shouldn't be any reason to worry.
But it was always good to be cautious.

I'M GONNA DROWN YOU OUT BEFORE I LOSE MY MIND | 'Younger sister'
The phrase played over and over in her head as she looked up at Umashi, her big eyes staring him down as he talked to the stranger at the door. She'd only met this man a little over an hour ago, but he wasn't a stranger. He was her 'brother', and something about that felt...nice.
Still, it had been a close call. Had Umashi not acted so quickly, the shinobi in the doorway would have likely pushed his way in and past her. Height and her doll-like appearance were at fault here, no doubt. She was never perceived as a threat, let alone a kunoichi. The man had only dubbed Shi as something to be feared. But Fumiko kept a tight leash on the poisonous snake. One bite could kill a man in under an hour, and she was uninterested in handling the consequences that would follow.
"Can you make sure to close all the blinds?" The girl nodded, slowly pulling the blinds shut so as not to disturb the shinobi who had just turned his back on her home. Umashi seemed very threatened by the appearance of the man. Was it because he was a missing-nin?
"I'll also be unable to stay at the inn for the time being, do you know of anywhere safe I could stay?"
Unwrapping Shi from her shoulders, Fumiko set the Inland Taipan down on a nearby chair. His tongue flickered, curious as to why he'd been removed. But he behaved, recoiling on the chair and keeping an ever watchful eye on his mistress. Fumiko walked over to Umashi who was preparing his sword, and slowly reached out to take one of his hands. Though much like his height, even his hands were extremely large. So instead she coiled her fingers around two of his, gently tugging on them so that he would follow. Leading him down a narrow hallway, she stopped in front of a door, and gently pushed it open. The room was empty for the most part. And only an extremely discerning eye could pick up the hints that someone had ever lived in it. It was her father's room, but the man rarely returned home to use it.
"You can stay here. An onii-san would live with his sibling, right?"

As he was led to the room by the young girl, he was very impressed with the job she had done. She had closed them in a completely non suspicious way. Heh, what talent she had indeed. . . The girl had quickly led him into a room by two of his fingers before saying, "You can stay here. An onii-san would live with his sibling, right?" He looked down at her and smiled, "Aye, I guess that would be so wouldn't it?" He looked around the room and nodded, now that he knew where it was located he walked back out and quickly found his stuff in the form of a small bag. He knew he would be staying in the house for about a week or so, so he made sure to pull out scrolls of stuff that would last about a week. Opening up the scrolls, he reached up and bit his thumb, drawing blood onto it. Writing a special kanji and placing his hand on each scroll in turn as he released his belongings onto the bed. He was so focused on this task that he was unsure if she was still in the room but he found himself saying slightly louder in case she had left, "Oy kiddo! I've noticed that no one else is really around but you have an empty room here... Who stays in it?" Once he had asked this, he smiled as he had finished with the scrolls. Rolling up the empty ones and throwing them back into his bag.
He looked around, saying to himself. "Now, let's liven this up a little bit yes?" He set about placing his belongings in a way that made the room seem a lot fuller than it actually was, he put his clothes into the closet and then nodded. He flopped down onto the bed and closed his eyes, saying aloud "Aye, now this is quite homey. It's perfect for now, I haven't been in a bed this comfortable in such a long time..." His voice trailed off as he started to stretch his body out, truly enjoying this finer moment in life that he never really got to experience. "It's all about the finer things in life and this one is one I'm never going to forget!" He chuckled and then opened his eyes, placing his hands behind his head as he looked up at the ceiling. His feet trailed off the end of the bed quite a bit, but he didn't really care at all. Although. . . He had no idea if the young girl was still in the room, and started to look around.

I'M GONNA DROWN YOU OUT BEFORE I LOSE MY MIND | Fumiko watched from the door way as Umashi canvassed the room. He seemed pleased with it, and she found herself breathing a soft sigh of relief. It was incredibly new to her, this... feeling of attachment. But not bad. Oh no, far from it. The warmth of this man's chakra enveloped her like the warm sun that watched over the village from the sky.
"Oy kiddo! I've noticed that no one else is really around but you have an empty room here... Who stays in it?"
Why was he yelling when she was just a few short feet away? Perhaps, much like the stranger at the door, he had yet to be capable of noticing her faint presence. Her large chakra pool was only further buried by his own. But her abilities as a sensor allowed her to keep her chakra so dormant that it was nothing more than a deceiving flicker. Nothing more than a village child would have.
"Otou-san," she answered, turning to see Shi slithering down the hallway towards her. He'd likely caught the scent of blood from earlier. There was no warmth as she spoke of her father. It was a cold, empty word. But it by no means alluded to any bad blood between the two. In fact, she cared for her father, and he for his child. But the two were poor at expressing their emotions. And her father found it easier to avoid his child when he could. Fumiko was fine with this. She'd named her snake Shi after her father, and the snake filled the hole her father wouldn't.
"So you'll stay?" she clarified, moving towards the bed, kneeling down and looking down at him all in one swift movement. Her long blonde hair fell around his face, briefly tickling his ears. And her eyes locked with his gaze, giving him no escape from the question. |

He looked up into her eyes, her big ol' eyes. Reaching up through her long blonde hair, he tapped her forehead again as he said, "Aye, I'll stay." He sat up and moved her out of the way softly, itching both of his ears with both hands and chuckling briefly as he then looked around and said, "Otou-san huh?" So it was her father, but the way her tone presented it seemed to be as if it was something she didn't want to talk about, perhaps it was a pain she was still dealing with. He decided not to press it any further, he felt something on the ground touching his feet and looked down to see the snake slithering at his feet. "Nyaahh!" He exclaimed, his upper body jumping back a little bit. His face contorted into one of slight fright and embarrassment as he turned and with one hand pointed down at the snake and with the other hold it at the side of his face as if he was keeping a secret from the snake as he whispered, "I don't know if he likes me very much." He looked down at the snake again with an inquisitive look on his face. Heh. . .
Taking a deep breath, he slowly moved his feet up onto the bed and crossed his legs together as to not disturb or hurt the snake as his eyes drifted up to the ceiling. He really wanted to smoke a cigar, but he didn't want to to mess up the harmony of the house with his dirty habit and he couldn't go outside until things had settled down. Gaahhaah. He decided to distract himself by turning to the girl and starting to speak, "So, where is it exactly that you want to see? I've pretty much been all over the world in this past year and I could tell you a lot, for instance! Did you know that the Raikage is one of the most beautiful women in the entire world? Not to mention that her skill with swords is said to rival my own. He blushed a bit with this, he had seen the Raikage once and he was quite smitten with her. A fleeting thought passed his mind that he tucked in for when they had left the village~ he started to talk again, "Or we could go see the famous sand dwellers of Sunagakure who are the only humans ever to tame the vicious Sand Worms of the desert." He nodded at this and then continued, "We could even visit the famous shrine of Hanzo Hattori in the Iron Country, said to have been the greatest samurai to ever live who could cut the tip of a flame off with his blade and hold it in his palm."
He was getting quite excited talking about these things and he told her a few more before he waited for her reaction, he told her about the bears of Fiyoko Forest that he had made a contract with and told her that they welcomed him as brethren and that he could probably get her to visit them if she wanted. He then told her of the Hokage Mountain but warned her that they couldn't see that one for a very, very long time. He finished by telling her about the famous hot springs of Kumogakure that were said to rival those of Iwagakure no Sato.
"What do you think of all that kid?" He said excitedly, before asking: "By the way, where are the best hot springs in the village in your opinion? I'm thinking about going later you're welcome to join me."

I'M GONNA DROWN YOU OUT BEFORE I LOSE MY MIND | "Mm." She nodded in confirmation, glancing around the room and picking up on the tiny signs her father had left behind. "Otou-san works in the Iwagakure Intelligence Unit. He's always busy." she explained, though she knew she didn't have to. As he pressed his fingers against her forehead, she closed her eyes as he guided her out of his way. When she opened her eyes again, Umashi had let out a surprised yell and Shi had coiled at the foot of his bed.
"Shi." she called, extended an arm for the snake to coil around as he made his way back up to her shoulders. "You'd be dead." she explained vaguely, slowly standing up before the full weight of the Inland Taipan could prevent her from doing so. If the snake had disliked the man in the least, he already would've attacked him. Though the venom would take a bit longer to spread in a man of that size. Not that Fumiko would allow that. And his mistress' wishes were only ever outweighed by her safety.
"So, where is it exactly that you want to see?" Everywhere. But that likely wasn't the answer he was asking for. He sounded like he wanted specifics. But she truly wanted to see everything. It was like an awful unquenchable thirst. The kind a Sunagakure nin might experience while stranded in the vast Suna Desert. It was something she wanted, needed, to experience for herself. So it was no surprise then, that as Umashi went on, the Genin went wide-eyed in curiosity. The light that had lit up her face quickly went dark, however, as he brought her right back down under the rocks of Iwa.
"Closest to the Tsuchikage's residence." she said flatly, her lips pursed in something that was akin to a child's pout. |
