It had been quite an ensemble getting into the village, the Jounin at the gates were quite skilled at gate duties and it took a great deal of skill with Ninjutsu for him to be able to get inside. A Kage Bunshin that he had Henge'd into a traveling merchant and Umashi himself had transformed into a mercenary. He had almost dropped the jutsu several times from the constant poking and prodding of the Jounin trying to make sure they were who they said they were, but Umashi in the academy had been infamous for being the student with the best Henge in his graduating year, a skill that had gotten him through some very tight spots before. But he had managed to get into the village after several dirty looks, a few pokes on the chest, and a threat that "if he was caught doing crimes around the village he'd have a kunai shoved up his very naughty place." The threat hadn't really intimidated him though, as he'd seen that Jounin standing around digging in his nose for god knows what was up there. He took a deep breath, his chest was quite sore and he felt like complaining, "God damn baaa-kaaa." He muttered as he walked through the village. He had taken great care to dress in a way that would not draw attention to himself and the only indication that he wasn't an average civilian was the sword wrapped around his back.
Umashi had gotten himself lost in the village as he explored everything, enjoying the scenery and the sites of the village. He had taken notice of several bars in the village, as well as the locations of the various hot spots. Umashi could enjoy the architecture of the world, it reminded him of the finer things in life which he had always enjoyed. Hehehe, what a beautiful place. A big smile flashing onto his face as he said brightly, "This place is so much better than that hole in the ground I came from, jeez. . . I spent way too much time there how did I even do it." He let out a soft sigh and raised his arms way above his head. Rubbing his nose for a second as his fingers caught the scar that ran across it. Eh. . . Konoha. . .
Umashi fidgeted around his bag for a moment, his brow furrowing until he grabbed his cigar tin. Opening it and searching through it for a second he pulled out one of the finest cigars ever rolled in Konoha for this special occasion. As he lit it and took a drag, he exhaled quickly and held the cigar in his teeth, stopping in the middle of the street he pointed up at the sky and said, "To you Hokage-sama, may your days be long and may you never catch me." With a nod he walked over to a bench, sitting down lazily so that he could enjoy his cigar in silence.

I'M GONNA DROWN YOU OUT BEFORE I LOSE MY MIND | It was the weekend, Sunday to be specific, and Fumiko had a tradition that differed from most of the Genin her age. While they were out training until they were blue in the face, she was shopping for the next week's groceries. It was normally a 'chore' reserved for a parent in the household, but this was not the case in the Sato house. Her mother had been gone for several years now, and her father was like a ghost. Only ever wandering in to check on her when something had gone wrong. The young Genin had grown rather fond of cooking, and she was good at it too.
"What do you think, Shi?" she whispered to the golden Inland Taipan that weaved around her limbs. In her hands were a mango and a small batch of strawberries, and she simply couldn't decide. The snake merely flicked his tongue, grazing her neck ever so slightly from where his head rested on her shoulder. "Both, then." she nodded, putting her produce in the woven tote that hung off her arm. It was towards the end of her escapade, and the tote was nearly full to the brim with raw fruits and vegetables, as well as sweet treats and basic staples like rice. If it weren't from the patch of pink on her arm where the bag was digging in, cutting off her circulation, one wouldn't have the slightest clue that the tote had grown far too heavy for her. Even Fumiko herself seemed oblivious to the pain that shot up her arm, at least, externally. Heavy or not, the tote wasn't going to carry itself.
Paying for her produce at the last outdoor stand, Fumiko made her way towards a small shop. She stood there for several moments, debating whether or not she should proceed, before taking a few hesitant steps inward. It wasn't long, however, before she came right back out.
"Damn crazy kid!" A man yelled, tossing her out on her bum and just narrowly dodging an attack from Shi. The snake uncoiled from around it's owner, hissing loudly. The man glared down at her, keeping a safe distance as he watched her pick up her things. It wasn't until she'd put everything back in her tote that she bothered to calm her companion. A single finger tapped the top of his head, and within seconds his demeanor change. She let her free arm hang down for a moment so that the snake could recoil around her small frame.
"Keep that blasted thing outta my shop, ya hear?!" |

A loud voice had suddenly pierced through the silence that he had been enjoying. Still clutching the cuban in his teeth, he turned his head laxly towards the scene. His eyes narrowing slightly, a young girl being thrown out on her ass and a shopkeeper shouting some obscenities and merely watching as the girl scuttered about picking up her things. Umashi's eyes narrowed even more as he yelled something about keeping something out of his shop. Umashi sat up into a more proper position, shifting his eyes up and looking into the sky he reached up with his left hand and held the cigar. He took one more large drag from the cigar and then took it out of his mouth, letting it out with a sigh and drooping his head, at the same time he was hanging his head in one singular motion he flipped the cigar to the blunt head he had been puffing on and flicked his hand with a speed that was only capable of being analyzed by the most powerful of eyes. He turned his eyes and looked as the man suddenly was hit square in the forehead with the cigar, knocking him back and off his feet. Umashi smirked as he stood up and put his hands in his pockets and started walking towards the scene. When he had arrived he walked over to where the man was laying on the ground painfully rubbing the giant red mark forming on his forehead and groaning. Umashi threw one leg over him and bent down, picking him up by his collar and staring him in the eyes.
"Oy, I can respect a man that wants to run a business. But who do you think you are to stand here and watch this young lady shift about and not even bothering to offer to help? Any man that can't extend his hand for a lady is nothing but scum." He picked the man up and set him on his two front feet, pushing him back into his store with a final warning, "Don't let me catch you treating this young woman poorly again." As he turned back around with his back to the man, he threw a small wallet of ryo up and down that he had picked from the man, he looked down at the girl and let out a lone wink. As he put the wallet into his long trench coat he finally got a good look at the girl. But before he could give her the ol' one-two. He caught her eyes. His face twisted into the type of face you have when you stare at something overwhelming for too long, her eyes were. . . so big. . . He stared for what seemed like an eternity before shaking his head and composing himself.
"Yo." He said to her, shifting his posture onto his other leg before speaking again, "You alright kiddo?" He looked down at her and noticed that the bag she had was unusually heavy for her, the strap on it digging into the muscles on her arm. "That bag looks pretty heavy little lady, mind if I carry it for you?" He asked, at this moment two things happened. The first was he picked the cigar that he had thrown off the ground and wiped it off on his jacket before lighting it and placing it back between his teeth. The second thing was he finally noticed the large reptile coiling around her body. His face changed into one of wonder, before he had gotten a good look at her (and even when he had the intense gaze she had, had distracted him.) he had thought it was just a scarf. "Oy kid." He asked, kneeling down and putting his hands on the front of his thighs. "That's a beautiful reptile."

I'M GONNA DROWN YOU OUT BEFORE I LOSE MY MIND | How unfortunate. She'd been looking forward to the famous taiyaki the shop sold. The old woman who used to run the store had been so kind to here. She'd found Shi intriguing, and allowed them entry so long as she promised the snake would behave. But as of late the old woman was working less and less, and her brute of a sun had taken over. Unfortunately, he wasn't nearly as accepting of Fumiko's companion. He'd thrown the two out countless times now, but the young girl always returned in the hopes of buying the old woman's delicious taiyaki.
Thud. The large crash of the man's body stumbling backward caused her to look up from her tote. Lips forming a tiny 'o' shape as she studied the red burn mark on his forehead. "Oy." the voice was slightly rough, but not too intimidating. If anything, he sounded more like someone who'd been awoken from a nap by something so troublesome. Had he really been able to do so much with just a cigar? Curious. The Iwa Genin remained seated through the altercation, her eyes canvasing his large frame for answers. He was handsome, for starters. Well kept hair, a built physique, all right down to the clothes he wore. But she found his quirks to be far more interesting.
He'd given her his full attention now as he played with the wallet he'd so easily taken from the shopkeeper. And as he got lost in her gaze, she was lost in him. A hand absentmindedly reached out to gently trace the scar on his face. While she put her abilities as a sensor to work at the same time. A quick glance over him had revealed no affiliation to a shinobi village. But his overflowing chakra, burning bright red like a flame, said otherwise.
As her hand slowly fell from his face and back down towards her side, she gave him a slight nod. Both in response as to whether or not she was alright, and his inquiry as to whether or not she'd like help with the tote. "Yes, please." she clarified, fully aware that most people couldn't pick up on her subtleties. She slid the tote bag over towards him, feeling the blood flow in her arm correct itself. "Shi." she smiled; it was the slightest curve, but it was noticeable. Fumiko wasn't known for being very expressive, so getting a smile out of her was a pretty big deal. The Inland Taipan hissed lightly in response to his name as he curled around her shoulders. The stranger had proven himself to be an ally to the young miss, and as such the snake remained calm.
Slowly standing up, she was careful to keep the eight-foot long snake steady. Which was easier said than done, what with how easily he overwhelmed her petite frame. If he was going to be carrying the tote from her, then that meant he'd be following her come. Without even confirming these details with the strange man, she began walking back down the street in the direction she'd come from, heading towards her home. |

"You don't have to say it all at once!" He joked as she started walking down the road, the tote she had handed him was filled with food and was actually quite heavy, it was a shock that it hadn't broke her arm, what did she have in it? A load of bricks, lost treasure? As she turned around and started walking in the opposite direction he watched her, was he supposed to follow her? She was such a strange girl. But Umashi couldn't get over the fact that she had such a powerful gaze, it was slightly charismatic and bold but still mysterious enough to keep him curious. He hefted her bag higher onto his shoulder and with his other hand flicked the ash off of his cigar. Putting it back into his mouth, he dragged on it and at the same time caught up with the young girl. As he walked next to her he looked down at her, it was amazing that she was able to walk with that huge snake wrapped around her. His eyes widened slightly as he walked with her, how had she been able to carry the bag at the same time? What kind of monster strength did she have?
With a soft sigh he shook his head and turned his head away and smiled softly. What a kid. . . He had never been enamored with someone before, especially not such a young girl. He was drawn to her, but not in the way that he was used to being drawn to women, no, no. It was the kind of feeling that you felt for a sibling. The kind that made you want to make sure they were always happy and safe. But he quickly shook his head, what was he thinking? He didn't have time to watch over this kid! He had tons of other things that he had to do. He let out another sigh and rubbed his face with one hand, he had finished his cigar and took it out of his mouth. Stopping and putting it out on the side of a trash bin before throwing it into it. He and the kid had been walking for quite awhile and then he realized, he didn't even know her name. "Hey little lady," he as asked with a grin. "I don't think I ever caught your name."

I'M GONNA DROWN YOU OUT BEFORE I LOSE MY MIND | "Fumiko Sato." she responded, allowing him to decide if he would reveal his own name or not.
The walk from the market to her residence was a rather short one, unfortunately. She was filled to the brim with questions about this stranger, but she wasn't quite sure which she should just observe over time, and which she should flat out ask. Information was important, but the 'how' and 'when' of gathering it was even more important. At least, that's what her father had told her. More often than not, Fumiko's curiosity threw caution and his rules to the wind.
Walking up a staircase made purely of rock, they reached the second level of the housing district. As they continued their way up, crossing a bridge and going up yet another staircase, Fumiko stopped infront of a tower-like structure on the third level of the housing district. The higher your home, the higher your family rank, she supposed. Pushing open the door that she'd neglected to lock on her way out, she held it open, allowing the stranger into her home.
In the same second that she closed the door behind them, Shi was off. Uncoiling from his mistress and slithering off to go do as he pleased. After removing her shoes, she made her way towards the kitchen, gesturing for him to place as the tote of groceries down on the island as she stared at him, wide-eyed. "Hungry?" she asked simply, already pulling out the necessary ingredients for today's lunch.
"What village are you from?" she asked, still puzzled by his lack of forehead protector despite having enough chakra to be considered a Jounin. The question was still vague enough, however, to allow him to lie. |

The walk up to the girl's house seemed to be infinite, not that it was a struggle for him the weight of the bag was normal for a man of his height and strength, but the stairs just seemed to go on and on. The girl had revealed herself to be known as Fumiko Sato. "Heh, I knew a Sato or two." He absentmindedly mumbled with a chuckle. As he reached the third floor young miss Fumi (as he had decided to name her) walked right up to her house and opened the door shooing him inside, he hesitated for a moment before walking inside. As he looked around the room he said, "I'm used to bringing girls home, not the other way around." He knew he shouldn't be making jokes like that around the kid. But she looked a little bit young to get them. Shoot though, how old was she? She looked pretty young, she had to be like twelve right? Oh well, he wouldn't poke at her about it. All ladies seemed to have a thing about their age. . . He had to bend down a little bit to fit into the house but it looked like in one of the rooms he could stand pretty much upright so that's where he quickly migrated.
The moment they had entered the house, the very large snake had uncoiled itself from around her and started to go do whatever it was that snakes did. Having all that weight off of her spine gave her the tiniest bit of extra inches, which he noted. She had to be at about five feet, he probably looked like a monster to her. Oh well, she had directed him to set down the groceries on a counter and then asked if he was hungry before starting to make something. He shook his head at her as he said, "I ate just before I got into the village thanks little lady." While she set about making the lunch he took the time to get a quick glance of her house before a question rang out "What village are you from?" at this point, Umashi fell silent for a moment. Before looking up at her and smiling. It had been a good day today and he was feeling particularly energetic.
"Before I let you know what village I'm from I better give you the grand introduction! I am the former "Suave Ninja" of Konohagakure that has gone missing after an accident! Known as a devil to all and an angel to few! I have seen the wise Sage Monks of the Toshan Pass! Wrestled with the Sumo Clan of the River Country! Trained by the legendary Samurai Seven of the Iron Country! I have drank sake with the bears of Fiyoko Forest and have been considered their equal! I am known through seven countries as the "Swift Devil" and am a hit with all the wonderful ladies of the world! I am the one, the only, UMASHIAKISHIKOBOSHI! YEAAA!" He gave her a huge smile with one eye closed and a huge thumbs up with his right hand. Now that he had given her his introduction, he chuckled heartily and said no more.

I'M GONNA DROWN YOU OUT BEFORE I LOSE MY MIND | "I ate just before I got into the village thanks little lady." He really wasn't hungry? She stopped chopping the carrot in front of her, turning to look at the strange man once more. Her grip on the knife was incredibly loose, causing it to wobble in her hand. Threatening to fall and cut off her toes at any moment. But she'd seemed especially unaware of this danger as her gaze only continued up, and up...and up. Her deep purple eyes widened as she met his own, "Wow." she breathed quietly, mouth open in the shape of an 'o'. She hadn't noticed until this very moment just how giant he was. "Are you sure you aren't hungry...?" she asked, clearly pressing even harder on the subject after assessing his height.
But before she could push any further, he was already firing off an elaborate introduction. To most, it was likely annoying, over the top. This wasn't the case for Fumko. With every word and every brief story he told, she took slow, but excited steps closer. Wide-eyed with both curiosity and envy. Though she'd neglected to at least set the knife down.
"Really?" she asked, her voice raising only slight above it's barely audible whisper. There was a slight, upward fluctuation in her tone that was almost never there. Excitement. "Umaskiboho...Umashik...Umashi." she finally settled on a name, pursing her lips in the lightest amount of frustration at the difficulty. But if even his name was this unique... He was someone she'd keep close. Yes, close indeed. He was so intriguing.
"Umashi, have you really seen all of that? Can I... Can I too? I just have to go missing, right?" she started out with a question, but slowly trailed off into faint mumblings. The sudden excitement was almost too much for her tiny body to handle. It had been so long since she'd found a reason to be this excited. |

He couldn't help but laugh as he listened to her trying to pronounce his name, it always gave him such joy to hear people and he had never met someone who could say it perfectly the first time. Wiping a tear from his eye from his mirth. He took the katana off of his back and set it against the wall, kneeling down for a second wrapping the cord that he used to wrap around his back around the sword. Tying two ends together tightly he stood back up and that's around the same time that Fumi was speaking again. But what she was asking was a question that held a lot of weight to it. His face twisted into concern as she finished talking. He looked down at her, her little innocent face showed great fascination but did she really know what it was she was asking. "Oy, kid. Sit down." He commanded, pushing her aside politely with his girth so that he could take over making lunch. He had a few ideas of what he could make, and he needed the kid to be giving him her full attention. After a few seconds of contemplation he finished preparing stuff for a special soup that his father had taught him to make and she had gotten the perfect ingredients for. Once he had started a pot of water boiling he turned around and looked at her, sitting there so innocently.
"I have seen these things, and many other things." A smile formed on his face and then disappeared after a few moments as he continued, "Wanna hear a secret? The only reason I left my village was because I accidentally killed my brother. He and I didn't get along so good for awhile, and some stuff happened and I ended up accidentally hurting him to the point of no return." He let out a sigh and rubbed the back of his neck, what was he getting himself into now. "Being a missing ninja is not something to be taken lightly. I am a wanted man, I have to worry every day that a different person is going to try and kill me. Every. Single. Day." He put a lot of emphasis on this, this wasn't a casual conversation after all. "Sure, I get to see the world, and I get to experience many great adventures. But I have many not so great ones too. . . Heh." He stood up and went over and checked the soup and made sure everything was okay, and then turned back and sat down in front of her. "The only reason I still do it is because it's all I know anymore. I am a man of fine habits, I enjoy the finer things in life. This is the only lifestyle I found that allows me to do so. But it doesn't make it any less hard." He thought to himself for a second before nodding.
He went and got his sword, slowly drawing it out of the sheath he walked over and sat back down, holding the blade facing him on it's side. "Do you smell that?" He asked softly, holding the blade up to her nose for a second before taking it back down, "That's blood. This blade is known as Harmony. It is a very special katana that was crafted a long time ago in the Iron Country, where my family came to Konoha from. The blacksmiths created this blade to be the ultimate samurai's blade. Legend says that the blade takes a piece of every soul it kills. That smell will no go away. You're probably wondering why I'm telling you this." He fell silent for a second, looking at the sword before looking into her eyes, his own very intense as he said, "This blade has taken a different life almost every other day since I left the village. . . That smell will NEVER go away." With this he took the blade and re sheathed it. After walking back and taking care of the soup and adding a few of the beginning ingredients.
"Is that something you really want?"

I'M GONNA DROWN YOU OUT BEFORE I LOSE MY MIND | Fumiko, rather obediently, did as she was instructed. Handing over the large chef's knife and jumping up onto the kitchen island. It gave her a massive boost in height, though it was still nothing comparison to the giant of a man in front of her. At least this way he wouldn't have to hurt his neck looking so far down. He'd gone to work on a stew of sorts, revealing a hidden skill to her. Not that proving you could cook meant much of anything in the shadow of the many things he'd revealed in the past five minutes.
"Kill...ed?" the word hung off her tongue in such a manner that it was unclear just what she was thinking. The young Genin had never killed anyone. And as such, it was incredibly foreign to the young kunoichi. But her gaze slowly moved back to the scar on his nose, her eyes tracing it's journey across Umashi's face. That's how he got it. Fumiko couldn't quite understand the relation of siblings, but from the expression he wore and the slight dip in his tone, even right down to the way his chakra faded away as he spoke of the events... he felt guilty.
A small hand slowly reached out as he continued on, giving her a laundry list of reasons as to why she shouldn't pursue the life he had. He found it so regrettable, but Fumiko wanted all of it. She would take the bad with the good, if only because she knew that was the only way she'd ever get to leave. Nothing in this world was free, after all.
"I do." she answered, leaning dangerously far off the island in an attempt to reach the scar on his nose. "I have to do it, Umashi." she vowed, determined to one day leave the grips of Iwagakure. Would it upset her father? She decided it probably wouldn't, and returned to the task at hand. "Ah," she breathed, feeling her body slip off the island. Her hand hadn't even come close.
