There were days when the sun was shining from a cloudless sky and calm wind was blowing the worries away, yet things seemed just a tiny bit too serene. Not the 'calm before the storm', no, just a nagging feeling that something was off. Today was one of those days. Konohagure had just awoken to a new day and already they could see that something odd was going on at the Kage monument. The Shodai Hokage seemed to be wearing make-up heavy enough to leave most men (and women) speechless. Multicolored eye shadow, bright rosy cheeks and stunningly red lips... The whole deal basically. And to top it all off, dark snot was hanging from his nose.
...Wait what?
A closer look revealed the snot was actually a person, someone in a dark jumpsuit hanging upside down from the cliff. Of course. Hara Kin, the Kitsune, was once again up to her tricks. In one hand, she held a huge paintbrush and on the other she balanced a big bucket of red paint. Far below her, half a dozen more buckets of different colored paints littered the ground. With the usual, devious smile playing on her lips, she splashed paint onto the stone with swift strokes. This position was bit tricky, especially with all the dripping paint, but what was a prank without some challenges? Boring, that’s what.
After one more stroke, the Kitsune found herself out of paint. Again. Leaping down to the buckets, she stopped to admire her work and giggled to no one in particular. "Hehee, what an artist the world is losing in me." It had taken all of the early morning and a lot of paint, but finally the old rock face was interesting again. As far as she was concerned, she wasn’t disgracing history, nope. She was just making it much funnier. No harm in that, right? Besides, the first rain would wash the paint off anyway. ...Probably. Eh, she honestly didn’t care that much. It would be the problem of whoever poor fellow had to clean this up.
And now, it was time for the finishing touches on her masterpiece. Grabbing another paint bucket, she bounced up, careful not to spill. Another giggle traveled through the wind as she got back to making mischief. The self-proclaimed artist was so focused on her work that she wouldn’t have noticed a hungry bear sneaking up on her. These last strokes needed a steady hand after all. Would’ve been a shame if someone caught her by surprise...

Ryoko was sitting leaned back in his desk chair; one hand slowly stroking the back of Getsu's head, the other stroking his chin. A puzzled look could be seen upon his face and as the woman -one of his more talented jounin- dropped down to get more paint. He furrowed his brow out of sheer curiosity. Based on all the information they had on him, this was a very poor depiction of the First Hokage. It wasn't a realistic interpretation, that was for sure. On the other hand, if this were a joke the humour was flying right over Ryoko's head, but he didn't totally rule that out as a possible explanation. Regardless of the purpose it was clear that this was the kind of thing that was going to make his day start off very unpleasantly. Even without fully grasping the why, he knew that the village would soon be in an uproar about the defamation of their stone monument.
I'd best go stop them before they make it worse. He pulled himself up out of his chair with an overly exaggerated amount of disinclination. This is not what he had wanted to be doing first thing in the morning. Unfortunately his options were: 1) Resolve the problem now, then hear the village complain about it for the rest of the day; or 2) Hear the village complain about it all day, then resolve the problem. Faced with these two unimpressive choices, he decided to go with the lesser of two evils. He slid the window facing the mountain open and placed his foot up on the sill. He gathered energy in his leg for a second then disappeared. Getsu starred at the spot where is master had just been and tilted his head. He remained there with his eyes locked for a moment, then let out a quiet whimper and laid down on the spot.
In a flash Ryoko was standing near the empty paint buckets that were sitting on the ground. Looking up from his position he was able to confirm who it was, though there hadn't really been any doubt in his mind. Hara Kin, a jounin who was four years his senior. She was known for her youthful attitude and juvenile pranks; at least by the other jounin. To Ryoko though, she was one of the select few who didn't seem to totally despise him. It seems though that the toll for this level of acceptance was paid for by doing things like this and increasing his work load. Still though, he couldn't help but admire her childish nature despite her rank. On a level he felt it would be nice to have not a care about being oneself in front of the entire village. Though his true self was a whole lot more boring than this, to be sure.
"I'd have to say that I'm a little disappointed one of my jounin could be so easily approached. Perhaps you should have considered a career as a painter instead of a shinobi?" He decided to prod her, with the slight hope that he'd startle her off the cliff face.

Hara was just in the middle of the last detail when a very familiar voice spoke up. Like a child caught red-handed, she flinched. That last stroke went pretty wide. Now the honorable First looked like he had a bleeding wound on his lip and cheek. To make matters worse, Hara’s grip slipped. The paint brush was first to go, plummeting down with a wild spin. Then the big bucket of pain followed, threatening to splash the Hokage with a pretty shade of crimson if he didn’t move. Or catch both weapons of mass defamation. At least the woman herself managed to stay on the wall, safe from the splash zone.
Woops...
Scratching the back of her head, the trickster giggled and turned around to wave a friendly greeting. "Eh... Heheh... Hiya Boss!" Of course, she had recognized the current Hokage from the voice alone. If it had been anyone else, she probably wouldn’t have cared enough to even stop. However, this white-haired young man was one of the few to command her respect, not that she ever admitted it out loud. Sure the guy had his, hee, shortcomings, but the Kitsune knew she could always count on him. Plus, seeing how upset and awkward other Jounin got with just a mere mention of him was absolutely hilarious.
Hara flashed a teasing smirk. "Hm, what can I say? Maybe I just like being approached. Or maybe I let it happen because I like you, Ry~o~ko~" While most others would’ve spoken to the Hokage with utmost formality, the Kitsune didn’t such stuffy habits get in the way. Where others saw a leader, she saw a young guy she could mess with. "I did consider it, but I couldn’t leave this job behind. You guys wouldn’t be the same without me." Needless to say, she didn’t have the slightest intention to get down from her handing spot. If anything, she was going to stay out of convenient scolding range for as long as she could, thank you very much.
With a playful grin, the prankster pointed at the fallen bucket and paintbrush. "Hey, could you toss those back here? I’m almost done." Oh yes, she did just ask the current Hokage to help her deface a former Hokage. His opponents would’ve had a field day with this, but for now it was their little secret. To underline the childish request, she even extended her grabby hands for a catch. She could already kind of guess why Ryoko was here, didn’t really take much pondering, but it never hurt to ask. Who knows, maybe the junior Hokage would stop being so uptight and leader-y for just a little while and join her on some mischief? ...Hah, yeah right.

Ryoko took a short step back to avoid getting hit by the brush and metal can that were now falling from the heavens. Unfortunately for him they were not followed by a certain mischievous kunoichi, who was instead now hanging from the stone monuments. As her painting tools hit the ground red paint splashed up onto his pants. His eye twitched a little bit and he had to fight down the urge to engulf the entire cliff side in flames. She was lucky that he liked her. Once he regained his composure he glanced up at her as she offered up a sarcastic explanation followed by a ludicrous request for Ryoko to pass her the tools that he'd made her drop. She can't be serious, he thought to himself while looking down at the ground and letting out a sigh.
"I have a thought." This time the voice came from directly above her. In an instant he'd relocated and was now crouched horizontally above her head. "Since we both know I'm not going to do that, here's my counter offer. We get this cleaned off before my office starts receiving complaints about your shenanigans, or I kill you and incinerate every trace you ever existed." He offered up the largest fake smile he could.
He knew that realistically she wouldn't comply. He also knew that she was aware his threat was empty and to top it off, she was one of the few people who wasn't intimidated by him or his status. It wasn't totally clear to Ryoko why she agreed to cooperate with him as often as she did, but it was clear that if he were to melt her bones in a pit of lava he'd be losing a valuable ally.

The Kitsune flinched again when the Hokage vanished and reappeared right above her. So much for staying outside of scolding distance... Boss was fast as usual. She had been training to keep up with that kind of movement, but it was still all a blur to her. The refusal was no surprise, but threat made her laugh. Of course she knew he wouldn’t act on it. If he had been the kind of guy to take lives with slightest provocation, he wouldn’t have gotten even a shred of respect from the trickster. And she probably would’ve died horribly a long time ago... But the Hokage wasn’t like that. He was a nice person, beneath the short temper anyway.
Turning around, Hara placed her hands behind her back and feigned an innocent look, much like a little kid seeking forgiveness. "Oh Boss... That’s just too cruel... I have a husband and seven kids to feed... Have mercy on them and on your poor, foolish servant." Lies, all lies. It didn’t take long for her teasing grin to return. "See? You should really leave the jokes to the expert." This was all just fun and games until the Hokage got actually mad. Sure, she was getting there, but until she managed to push him to the boiling point, she would play every trick on the book.
Speaking of which...
The Kitsune flashed a smile that many people, especially the Hokage, could’ve recognized as her scheming smile. It was the sort of smirk that always preceded something troublesome for whoever received it. While acting all innocent and playing time, she had been performing sly hand seals behind her back. "On the topic of jokes, stop me if you’ve heard this one before... So a gullible Hokage walks right into a genjutsu..." With that, her form blurred and she vanished in a hypnotizing swirl. The breeze carried mischievous laughter. Suddenly, a tree sprouted from the stone wall, defying the laws of physics as it wrapped thick branches around the white-haired man.
Soon, Hara peeked out from the tree trunk and leaned over the Hokage. She was wielding the most terrifying weapon of them all... a wet paintbrush! Snickering ominously, she slowly brought it closer to his cheek. "Hold still~ I don’t wanna get this stuff in your eyes." Of course the trickster wouldn’t hurt her favorite leader, nope. She would just doodle to her heart’s content and then let him go. Eventually. From a safe distance. That was the plan A at least, while plan B started with 'run like hell'. If Ryoko didn’t come up with something quick, his face would’ve been red from something else than anger. And probably from anger as well.
{Jutsu used}Name: Magen • Jubaku Satsu - Demonic Illusion • Tree Binding Death
Classification: Genjutsu
Rank: B-rank
Type: Supplementary
Element: N/A
Description: After performing a set of hand seals, the user slowly vanishes in a swirl of leaves, seemingly dissolving into thin air. Moments later, a tree suddenly sprouts from the ground behind the opponent. It grows thick branches around the victim, stopping all movement. They can’t even perform hand seals. Physical strength is meaningless since the illusion makes the person believe they have been captured. Once the victim is trapped, the user appears from the tree to attack or interrogate them. The vanishing portion affects all opponents who see the user, but the tree binding can only affect one target at a time. Standard Genjutsu breakers apply as per normal.
Additional Information: Magen • Jubaku Satsu is a traditional Konohagakure Genjutsu and Hara is an especially well-known user. Legends tell of a smiling woman who has turned countless fights into simple interrogations with a single illusion.

Does her insolence know no bounds? His frustration was boiling over and he was done playing nice. The twitch was back, but this time he decided to roll with it. He relaxed his neck and his head drooped down.
"Oh~ Getsu~" He hollered into the morning air. This was followed by several short seconds of silence, then the wolf appeared below him. It starred up quizzically at him, seeing only his master hanging from the edge of the cliff. "I need you to snap me out of a genjutsu." Instantly understanding what needed to be done the animal bore it's fangs and leapt towards his owner, gently sinking his teeth into his shoulder and giving him a light shock.
Ryoko was disoriented for a moment from the lightning chakra running through his body. Enough so that he lost his grip on the mountain side and fell towards the ground. Coming to his senses a moment before impact, he managed to turn his body upright and landed on his feet with Getsu already standing next to him. "Good boy." He paused for half a second to contemplate his next move. Hara was probably already gone. Unfortunately for her he was too angry to give up the chase that easily. "We're going to hunt down Hara Kin. If you find her before me, chew off her legs so she can't run away." Secretly Ryoko hoped that Getsu didn't know he was joking.
Despite even Getsu's tracking skills, it was possible that she'd simply get away this time. She had a head start and was more used to running away from authority than he was chasing after delinquents. I could have just let her finish defacing the monuments. My pants wouldn't be covered in paint, my shoulder wouldn't have teeth marks in it and I wouldn't be on a man hunt. But no~ I had to be responsible and try and stop her. I swear, when I find her I'm sending her on the most dangerous mission I can come up with. He took off heading West, with Getsu heading East. He'd have to find her quick, or he'd catch flak for not taking his duties as Hokage seriously. But some things were just more important than paperwork.

Welp, plan B it was! When Ryoko called for assistance, Hara bolted away, seemingly vanishing into thin air again. While the Kitsune liked the Hokage’s pet, she didn’t feel like finding out if the pet liked her. She had eluded chasers, even Boss, so often that she could’ve easily just gone into hiding until the heat died down, but that felt so... boring... Boredom had been the main reason why she had pulled the paint stunt in the first place. And as she dashed over the rooftops, she got a far idea better idea to keep herself amused. Boss would surely come after her and when he did... "Hmhehehehe~" By the time Ryoko and Getsu started their search, Hara was long gone.
Though not entirely without a trace...
On one of the rooftops, there was a drop of red paint, shining in the sun. Another wet spot was nearby, followed by yet another. Sharp eyes would’ve quickly noticed a clear trail of bright droplets zigzagging across the rooftops. Anyone who knew Hara could tell this was on purpose. She didn’t leave evidence or hints behind unless she wanted to be followed. Most of the time, following those led into another trick. It was all a game to her. If she won, she would sneak away scot-free, but if the Hokage won, well, maybe she might listen to him for once. Those were the stakes and the name of the game was Follow the Leader.
The red trail took a small detour around the village, through some streets and tricky alleys, before looping towards the Hokage’s Mansion. It circled around the building, went up the stairs and ended at the door to the Hokage’s office. The door was open just a tiny bit. Of course, a bucket full of water had been propped on top of it. Classics never got old. A careless entry would’ve gotten the Hokage soaked. The paint trail led to the desk, where the familiar paintbrush had been left next to a messy smiley face. Everything else seemed normal, aside from the distinct feeling that someone was watching... Something in here wasn’t like the rest.
And now the name of the game was, naturally, Hide and Seek.

(((Sorry for the shorter post. Trying to get one off before something major happens at work again.)))
Shortly after beginning his hunt he had stumbled across a drop of paint on one of the roof tops. Even though he knew better than to think that Hara was careless enough to let that happen by chance, he followed it anyway. After following the obscure trail to the end he found himself back at his office. His door was slightly ajar, not how he'd left it this morning. Without hesitating he booted it open with his right foot. As he did so a bucket full of water fell to the ground. Child's play. As it made contact with the ground some of it splashed up onto his pants. At least this time it was just water.
"I highly recommend you just come out and face your punishment. Otherwise, the consequences will be much worse." This time he wasn't fully joking around. He had already decided he'd be sending her away from the village to finish a mission for him. This was to allow him time to get rid of the headache as well as to keep her away from getting scolded by the other jounin in the village for her rather grandiose prank this morning.
He whistled and within a couple of seconds Getsu appeared in the window, resting obediently on the sill with more grace than you'd expect a creature of his size to have. Ryoko then turned around shut the door, locking it as he did so. "Now, am I going to have to find you, or are you going to give yourself up?" He already pretty much knew how this was going to go, but he figured he'd give her a chance, just in case she had come to her senses.

A ghastly giggle crept across the room when the Hokage made his entrance. From the hiding, Hara watched as the Boss blocked the escape routes first. Yup, he was still sharp as ever. While she didn’t care about making the punishment worse, she could tell when someone was at their limit. If this had been anyone else but him, she would’ve gleefully pushed them over the edge. With Boss, however... A disappointed voice sighed at the demand. "Fine, fine... Sheesh, you’re no fun..." In a puff of some, an extra cabinet was replaced by the pouting trickster. Well, this was the end of games, it seemed.
Hara stretched and turned to Ryoko. "So, what’s the punishment going to be this time?" She walked around, idly musing childish punishments. "Are you going to ground me...? Send me to bed without dessert...?" Suddenly, she opened her eyes and stared deep into the young man’s soul. Approaching slowly and carefully, she leaned close enough to nearly kiss the young man. "Hm, or maybe you are planning to spank me~? You know you want to~" Her tone was sultry enough to make most men blush. As a finishing touch, she reached out to gently stroke the Hokage’s cheek with her most charming whisper.
"It can be our little secret, Ry~o~ko~"
After a brief, yet perhaps incredibly awkward moment of silence, the playful kunoichi stuck out her tongue. "Just kidding." And with that, the flirty gaze was gone, once again hidden behind the seemingly closed eyes of the Kitsune. Messing with people like this never got old. Most of her fellow Jounin would’ve been left speechless, if only by the sheer insolence of such offers. So what if it just made things worse? It was amusing and that’s all that mattered. She stepped back and sat on the Hokage’s desk, giggling under her breath. Even in the face of imminent punishment, Hara Kin just laughed.

Thank god he thought silently to himself as Hara came out from hiding. Her antics drove him up the wall but as she conceded defeat and agreed to accept the consequences for her actions he found is frustration fade. As annoying as she was, there was something about her devil may care attitude that made Ryoko feel at ease, despite his station. Though just as he started to relax she decided to goad him some more. Unlucky for her he had little to no interest in fooling around just now, with the Chuunin exams around the corner. Regardless, she was certainly a bel esprit. As she stuck her tongue out and started to back off Ryoko pulled the now ruined shirt off over his head, tossing it against the wall. He then made his way around the desk that she was now using as a bench and snapped his fingers. This was followed by Getsu climbing in the window and walking around to lay down in front of Hara. Pleased that his job was done he curled up and closed his eyes. "I need you out of the village for a few days." He realized after he said this that he probably should have led with a little more information before making such an abrasive statement. To correct this he pulled open a drawer on his desk and lifted a small file folder out then tossed it over to her. Before closing the drawer he also picked up a small container of ointment, which he unsealed and started to apply to the shallow wounds in his shoulder. "There is a rumor that the Mizukage and the Kazekage are personally training some of their villages genin in preparation for the chuunin exams.""I would like you to go to the Land of Water and see if you can find anything out about these genin, so that we might properly prepare our own shinobi for the upcoming test. Be careful though. Kazu Suzuki, their current Mizukage has a reputation for being relentless in combat. Avoiding a confrontation and masking why you're truly there should be your top priority. Do not be seen." Another pause. "I'll even pay you, despite your activities today." Ryoko finished his statement with a mocking tone. ((( Here is the mission, should you choose to accept it))) {Scoping Out The Competition}Mission Name: Scoping Out The Competition Mission Rank: B-Rank Suggested Shinobi: Jounin or ANBU Location: Kirigakure or Sunagakure OOC Information: You will be required to attend either Kiri or Suna and effectively spy on any genin to help Konoha prepare for the chuunin exams. While it is only necessary for you to spy on genin, you'll also have to be on the lookout for any jounin captains who are training them. It is not expected that you will be required to engage in combat, but if you are found out you will need to come up with a plausible reason for your surveillance that doesn't incriminate Konoha. Data collection may be easier if this is done while the genin are out on a mission, as opposed to training in their village. Mission Description: In an effort to better prepare for the chuunin exams being held in Konoha, intel must be acquired on the genin from former enemy nations; the mist and sand. This will require covert surveillance deep inside their respective territories. Objective: It is essential that the individual undertaking this task collect information on the techniques and skill levels of the genin from these villages. If possible it is also important to get personal information such as names, lineage and potential Kekkai Genkai. This mission will be considered failed if the shinobi is caught spying and is unable to lie their way out of it. Payout: 250 ryo Additional Rewards: 100 ryo will be awarded if the shinobi was not caught and they are able to provide any personal information on the genin they observed.
