It was an incredible day, having returned home from a mission with incredible success, Umashiakishikoboshi had been promoted to a Jounin in the village of Konohagakure and was throwing a party in combination with his twenty-sixth birthday. His brother and father weren't able to attend due to going on their own missions, but Umashi couldn't wait to tell his brother when he got back the good news. He had sent out invitations to many people, but the most special ones to him had been sent out to the surviving members of his graduation class. He had made sure to spend all of the ryo he had been saving up for the drinks and the food for the party, the venue was going to be at a special room he had rented in the "Sitting Crane" inn located in the shopping district of the village. The dress? Standard shinobi gear for the ninja and semi-formal dress for the citizens he had invited (most of these being childhood friends he had played with who hadn't become ninja and the most attractive beauties from around the village.) As he carried tons of bags into the inn he paid the man for giving him the room for the night and rushed up the stairs. Findhing his room and opening the door he pressed inside.
Looking around with a huge smile on his face, his long black hair was kept in a ponytail and his huge goofy grin was reflected by the forehead protector wrapped around his forehead and his fancy new Jounin flak jacket fitted snugly over his upper body. His happiness couldn't be contained, this was one of the most exciting days in his life. He had been recognized as one of the elite shinobi in his village. Top tier, everything he had worked for as a kid and all of his dreams were coming true. After twenty minutes he had finished setting up the venue with about fifteen minutes to spare before guests would start arriving. Umashi sat in the room and polished his sword while he waiting, the long black cord of the sheath wrapping around the flak jacket augmenting the overall "badass" appearance. This was the Umashi who was pure, the Umashi who was loved all over the village, the Umashi who didn't have to worry each and every day. Sure, he had killed a few people in missions for Konohagakure, but this was the Umashi who was one of the village's finest.~
After sixteen minutes he heard his first knock at the door, excitedly getting up and re sheathing Harmony he walked over to the door and opened it, seeing two Chunin friends from his childhood and a couple young women. "Ahhh! Welcome my friends, welcome indeed! Help yourself but please leave the bottles alone, I wanted to crack into those once more people arrived." He smiled and once they were inside he shut the door turning around. His chest was puffed out and his face super proud, as he smiled at his guests there was another knock behind him. . .

MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS | Ryoko rapped his knuckle against the door before deciding to push it open himself. The Sitting Crane usually had such a relaxed atmosphere, but with several shinobi in full gear prowling around he could sense some extra tension. Despite this perception of increased danger, it was definitely the safest place in the entire village at this moment.
As he entered the room he saw the star of the party, Umashiakishikoboshi. Rumor had it that he'd finally been promoted to jounin and based on his new attire it looked like this was a fact. It was also his twenty sixth birthday according to the invitation he'd received. At this point in time Ryoko was nineteen, nearly twenty and even more socially awkward than he is now. It was because of this that he was often left out of events like this. He was not very well liked, except by his former genin team but that had never stopped Umashi from interacting with him in a positive way. He was an odd duck for sure. Quite a few years his senior, he had been a chuunin when Ryoko had graduated from the academy. Any time they'd encountered each other, even as Ryoko passed him in rank he never failed to offer him a witty comment or piece of advice.
So now as he approached him he felt happy to see one of his few friends in a state of such elation. "Congratulations brother, and happy birthday." As he said this he reached out his hand and grabbed Umashi's shoulder, a social convention he'd seen that could be used when one is physically indicating that they are proud of another. |

Umashi turned to get the door but before he could it was opened, Ryoko of the Leaf walking in accompanied by a few more guests. He could sense the air get cold behind him, Ryoko was always considered a black sheep of sorts to the other Chuunin and Jounin because of his antisocial ways. But Umashi had never found the boy to be any different than he or any other person in that room, he had been there during the boy's graduation into Genin and had always made sure to give the boy whatever advice he could impart whenever he got the chance, deep in his heart he knew that no man deserved to be treated like an outcast, that was a life of loneliness and when people were lonely it created a bitter and revengeful person. Umashi ignored the cold aura radiating behind him and when the young man came over and pressed his hand onto his shoulder congratulating him, Umashi grabbed both of the young man's shoulders and shook them lightly with his eyes full of mirth and a huge smile as he said, "Ryoko! It is good of you to make it, I was worried you wouldn't come! Your invitation was so important to me that some of my enemies from Kumogakure tried to kill the messenger on the way to give it to you!" He of course was joking, but that was his talent; bring happiness to a room of even the most strict curmudgeons. As he placed one arm around the boy he led him over to the table and said, "Come, come! Let's crack open a bottle and have a few drinks to our good health yea? Everyone! Drinks on me!"
He heard a few light cheers of the guests and with one arm around the young boy he reached out with the other and looking at one of the guests who had cheered made his hand in the shape of a pistol, "clicking" his thumb down and winking at the same time. He let the young boy go as he walked over to the table, hearing more knocks on the door and nodding at one of his classmates who had arrived with Ryoko to open it for him. When the door was opened, what appeared like the rest of his guests poured in. The room was big enough for about fifty, but he had only invited thirty so there was still plenty of room to get around but created a roomy atmosphere. Once everyone was in, with shinobi-like reflexes the man got up on the table, positioning himself where he wouldn't break anything and held his arms out over the crowd and said, "Now that you're all gathered! Welcome, welcome to my little get-together! Most of you know me but for the few of you that don't, I'm Umashiakishikoboshi." (He paused to observe the slightly shocked faces of his new guests with a light snicker) "Today is a day of great celebration my friends, I have not only been promoted to a Jounin but I managed to live to the age of twenty-six!" (a few cheers) "So everyone, please make yourselves comfortable and enjoy the festivities, and let me just say it's very nice to see you all! Hopefully none of you are thinking about leaving the village any time soon because I'll have to hunt you down myself!" (#lol)
Getting back down off the table, he opened three of the bottles of sake and started handing out special glasses to all of the men and women save for two, he filled them and then quickly found the young man Ryoko again "How old are you know kiddo? Are you old enough to drink? Ah who cares, I won't tell if you don't." He smiled and handed the glass to the boy and gestured him towards two chairs. Umashi sat down in one of them and looked up at him as he said, "I remember your graduation ceremony so vividly. You all looked so happy, to this day I have never seen a graduation class with as much joy and ambition on their little faces as yours. But don't let me drone on, how has life been treating you?" He asked with a very cheery tone.

MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS | Ryoko was used to this level of friendliness from Umashi. It was a common sight to see him with a pleased look on his face, flaunting his jubilant attitude. He cracked a smile as the man joked about his invitation and then proceeded to let himself be led over to the table with all the liquor. Ryoko wasn't much of a drinker but he was more than happy to have a few during situations like this. He'd learned at a young age -perhaps too young- that it was rude to refuse a drink when offered, especially in ceremonies and celebrations.
He waited patiently in front of the table as Umashi spoke and introduced himself, hearing some light chatter about the mans unusual name behind him as he did so. Anyone that knew him though was aware that his name was probably one of the more normal things about this man. His personality was very over the top; or at least it was when compared to Ryoko. Ryoko didn't feel a whole ton of emotion, less so even after his run in with the assailant who'd left him with the mark on his face. But he was never good at expressing the emotions he did feel anyway. Perhaps this was why he was so at ease around this man, who had no problem speaking his mind, cracking jokes and displaying any emotion that he might be feeling at the time.
Finally most of the guests had been served their drinks and Umashi poured two final glasses, one for himself and then one for Ryoko. Leading him to a set of chairs Umashi sat down and gestured for Ryoko to do the same, all while chatting about his graduation and then asking him about life. Taking a seat next to the man, Ryoko took a sip of the sake before replying.
"The same as it treats all of us." He took another small drink before realizing that Umashi was probably looking for more details than this rather generic comment. "I've recently been transferred. I'm now work as the Hokage's personal bodyguard. Though his health is waning as of late and I'm finding much of my time is spent in one place." Ryoko didn't mind this kind of work as it permitted him to be alone most of the time, however it did seem to earn him some scorn from his colleagues because the job is usually an easy one.
"How about you? Your mission was obviously a great success. How is your family doing lately?" |

Umashi chuckled at the boy's words, "Well... I wouldn't say it was a grand success, we ran into a couple snafu's and one of my team-mates almost got blown to hell, but he didn't and that's the good thing right? Hokage's guard huh? That sounds like quite a feat, I thought about trying to do that once. But I feel like it's an honor enough being the best swordsman in the village eh?" He pointed at a man named Hashin who was another kenjutsu expert in the village who had overheard him and then winked and the two of them broke into laughter before continuing on. "My family huh? Well, let's see..." He thought about what had been going on with his family. "Well, my brother and I are still as close as ever, I don't reckon he'll be too happy when he gets back though I've been seeing a girl that he fancies." He nodded and sighed, "But oh well, we're family right? He'll get over it." He smiled before continuing, "My father is demonstrating signs of old age but he still goes on missions every now and again, he's quite the trooper I respect him very much." He looked at his glass and tipped it back, emptying it in one go before saying, "Excuse me for a second." and walking over and bringing one of the bottles back with him before sitting back down.
As he poured himself another glass, a few more people sat around them distracted with their own conversations but the Jounin's attention was still on Ryoko. "What a day it has been today. The weather in the village has been so good lately." He downed another shot before shaking his head and laughing, "this sake is special in the village, I've seen some people only be able to handle three glasses before being completely destroyed." He poured another one, a slight warmth in his body and head coming over him although he managed to keep a control over all of his motor functions. Looking out the window as he started to speak again, "Being the Hokage's guard must mean you get to hear about all kinds of things huh? How's the missing ninja activity been in the village?" It was a pretty heavy question and he wasn't sure if the boy would answer it, but Umashi had always been curious about missing ninja and the threats they could pose to national security so he figured there was no harm in asking. . .
