C-Rank, solo. Deliver a parcel to Kawa no Kuni, containing various items a city leader has requested that are found in Mizu no Kuni. Seemed simple enough, a week of travel at most, and the only big threats along the way were bandits and wildlife. Not many dared to scavenge along the path she took, either; it was the main road between Sunagakure and Konohagakure, which meant a high amount of patrols. If anything, it was a vacation mission.
Which was why Mayu Nagato, Kirigakure Genin of two years, decided that taking such a mission would be no problem. More money for her, as well as a lovely hike across the mainland of the Elemental nations. They say that the rivers there are quite clear, and never have pollution in them, so it would be a wonderful time to relax and go forth without her imbecilic teammates slowing her down with their voluminous voices.
As of this moment, it's been her third day on her independent journey, and it hasn't been so bad. Sure, she's had to kill a few raving mad boars here and there, but they weren't all that hard. Additionally, catching fish was easy, given her bloodline abilities, and she could just meander along the country side with nothing to worry about but possibly tired feet.
But then the bandits showed up. Of course, there were always a few idiots that decided to try and claim the main roads, so this was to be expected. There were about four of them, all male, and pretty physically fit. "Hey, girlie. Hand over everything you've got on ya, if you know what's good for ya." One of them asserted as the bunch of them got closer. How troublesome, and Mayu thought this would be a nice, relaxing walk too.
She gave a wistful smile and started advancing towards them, the criminals smiling even more now. Fresh meat, right? Should be easy, right? "Come on, we'll even give you a fun time after that..." They started advancing on her, hands being pretty grabby.
Oh, you fools. You never get close to a ninja, much less a Taijutsu user.
They froze in place when the ebony-haired teenager made a tiger seal, knowing full well what those hands meant she was. "Kirigakure no Jutsu." She whispered before the river near their position started creating an extremely thick mist, covered in chakra. Soon enough, they couldn't even see their hands in front of them, and the girl was nowhere to be found.
"She's a damn ninja! Find your way out of this mist, we'll be able to see that bitch this wa-" But then a gurgling sound erupted from the supposed leader, and blood suddenly splashed onto another bandit's face. A loud 'thunk' could be heard, and the close-together trio saw their boss's body limp near their feet, his throat been cut deeply. They immediately put their backs to each other and readied their weapons, all sweating and shaken from the sudden death of their comrade.
Ten feet away from them and seeing clearly in her own technique, Mayu cleaned her kunai of the man's blood. He was an inept fighter when he couldn't see; relied on his voice, and shouted too much to notice the footsteps behind him. In all her years of sneaking, hiding, and surprising, she'd met very few people who did that. 'Then again, I do live in a ninja community.' Mayu contemplated. Still, there's that, and they seemed pretty new to the business. They didn't even pull out their weapons for intimidation, how amateur. They're totally the type you'd see on C-Rank missions. Shaking the stray thoughts off and focusing on her targets, she decided to scare them a bit.
Oh god... where was she?! She could be anywhere in this thick mist, and the boss was dead! A bandit, somewhat short and pudgy in size, started to walk backwards in fear, falling out of position with his teammates. His footsteps were loud, and Mayu timed her softer ones to be in rhythm with his to mask her noise. Only a few steps in, his feet were knocked out from under him, and he was easily caught in a chokehold that left his feet off the ground. As the remaining two bandits spotted the short male, he was choking and being dragged away by the little girl they thought was harmless.
Fat guy in her arm and blood not circulating to his head, Mayu restrained the man efficiently and powerfully as he flailed about for air. The trick to the Muon Kosatsu was to control your prey after the catch, or else they would get away. Luckily, he wasn't taller than her, meaning she could actually perform the technique well. 'I really need to work on that problem of mine,' She mused as her target was slowing fading into unconsciousness. 'I may not be capable against taller people, and there are a LOT of people taller than me.' Putting a footnote in her head to train that technique more, she put the knocked-out man on the ground before taking her kunai and slashing his neck, making an extremely loud 'SHLLLLK!' sound to scare the remaining two.
Hopefully Kawa no Kuni wouldn't mind if she got their clear rivers stained with blood for a little while, goodness knows that they're quite beautiful.
