i want theguts and glory THIS TOWN IS WASTED AND ALONE BUT WE ARE ALIVE HERE IN DEATH VALLEY Demiyah stared up at the bright sky, standing at the gates of Sunagakure with a large group of jounin. She ignored them all, of course, tuning out their mother-henning and their bickering. She didn't need this right now. Her mind was on the journey ahead and they were seriously breaking into her thoughts. The Kazekage sighed, bringing her gaze down from the sky to the people standing in front of her. "Will you all be quiet. I've already made my decision about who I'm taking on this mission. He knows who he is, so you can all get back to work," she noted levelly, crossing her arms over her chest. A few apologies later and some of the jounin cleared out, leaving the council members, a few of Demiyah's most trusted shinobi, as well as her father and sister.
Smiling, Demiyah embraced her older sister as the girl jumped forward and put her arms around her. Her fathers hand rested on the top of Demiyah's head, but she didn't mind. These little moments were what kept her going. "I'll only be a few days," she promised softly, pulling back from her sister, her hands resting on her twins shoulders. "Everything will be fine. It's just a Summit. I'll have a guard with me, and you know I won't go down without a fight," she said, making light of the situation even though there was an uneasiness in her tone. They knew how tense she'd been with the upcoming events. It was hard not to see the stress that she'd been put under. The Kazekage finally pulled away from her sister and her father, telling them quiet goodbyes as she faced the group of shinobi that were still there.
"Kouketsu, are you coming?" she asked with an intense look in her eyes. "Amegakure isn't that far, but there's a sandstorm sweeping in from the west. We need to beat it or we'll be late," Demiyah noted, motioning in the direction of Amegakure. "I hope you've brought enough water for the trip because we'll be running most of the way," she continued, turning her head to face the west. The land was as clear as far as the eye could see, but she'd already recieved reports of the sandstorm hitting some of the furthest cities in the land of wind. Shifting slightly, she gave no other warning to her escort, starting of running rather suddenly, pulling her hat off and clipping it onto her belt so that it didn't fly away. Hopefully this went without a hitch. They couldn't afford to be late. It'd be her first time meeting some of the other Kage. She couldn't let her first impression be tardiness.

“I’ll return in a couple days”, I responded before vanishing in a puff of smoke. I knew the hassle that Mother would make about me leaving the village, and I knew how much she despised those words. My father had spoken the same words to her before he was murdered, and so her worry was well placed and I understood. I loved her greatly, but lacking the time and the patience to put up with her feeble attempts at stopping me from leaving (as I knew she would), I instead opted to send a doppelganger in my place. She was no fool though—the shadow clone would do little to fool her for long and after grabbing what was needed, I made my way toward the gates.
I was dressed in my normal Jounin attire, lightweight material, and the tools of my craft on person. A loose-fitting, darkened, hooded cloak covered almost everything on me, save for my shoes and my face. I had never been to the Land of Rain before, but if the name was any indication as to the weather conditions it was safe to say we were going to get a little wet.
I arrived on the scene a little before the majority of the crowd was dismissed and watched as the numbers surrounding the gates dwindled down to just a few. I was rather excited to be a part of this mission—hand-selected by the Kage to be her escort, this was the perfect opportunity for me to experience something different than the sand dunes and furious winds that plagued this country. Outside shinobi also intrigued me a bit. There had to be others as gifted as I was, with their own special talents, and unique jutsu. I had heard stories of powerful clans from Konohagakure, from Kiri, and even from lightning country— what better place to view the powerful shinobi from different nations than the summit?
“Of course, Kazekage-sama” …
T’was my response to her notion of whether I was coming or not. A nod confirmed I took note of the information regarding the storm and I departed following her exit, signaling to Obelisk that it was time to move.
“Hopefully, this one canteen will last me until we get there..”

i want theguts and glory THIS TOWN IS WASTED AND ALONE BUT WE ARE ALIVE HERE IN DEATH VALLEY The Kazekage glanced back toward her escort as she ran, keeping an eye on him and ensuring that he remained close by. The last thing that she needed was for the sand storm to be upon them and for her to lose track of the one person who was supposed to remain at her side the entire time. Running through the sand wasn't hard. She'd been doing it all of her life and knew all the tricks to remaining upright and not slipping whenever the sand below was too soft. On the way to Amegakure, they'd pass no other villages, but there were wild sand creatures. The possibility of one a sand spider or serpent suddenly appearing from below the sand was high. As such, Demiyah remained alert, her one good eye scanning the world in front of her, remaining intent on staying safe.
"Kouketsu. This is your first mission to Amegakure, is it not?" she noted, slowing a bit to her jounin companions pace. "This will be unlike most of the missions that you've ever been assigned to. Attending a conference of all the Kage means that there will be others there with your skill level and expertise in the field. Some of them may be stronger, some of them may be weaker. We aren't looking to find that out. I need to ask that you remain silent and observe everything that you can. Any odd movement of a facial feature, and every glance in the wrong direction need to be accounted for," she explained calmly. Demiyah certainly was one of the more careful Kage. What ever she couldn't observe herself, she needed to make sure that Kouketsu had. She was uneasy enough being in the same room as some of the other Kage, but with all of their escorts there as well, it was likely that something would go very wrong very quickly.
Glancing up toward the sun, she took note of their position, turning slightly and heading in a new direction, one that would take them easily into Amegakure. Her gaze then locked onto a group five large sand spiders huddled together in the sun. With the approach of the duo, they suddenly became hostile and Demiyah pulled her bow from her back, loading an arrow. She paused, motioning for Kouketsu and Obelisk to stop as well. Intending to miss and make the wild animals retreat, she loosened her arrow into the middle of their formation, not killing or harming any of them. Stunned, the entire group turned tail, fleeing in a total opposite direction of where the Kazekage and her escort were heading. "Good. Now we won't have to deal with them," she noted, walking forward and grabbing her arrow from the sand, slipping it back into the quiver and replacing her bow on her back. She turned to face Kouketsu, an eyebrow lifted and a small smirk on her features, "Can I count on you to do as I ask, Kouketsu?" she said calmly, going back to her previous train of thought.

We progressed through the sandy terrain with ease and an unparalleled efficiency; our steps were swift, and our stride swifter. I trailed just a few feet behind the kage for the most part, the distance between us only increasing when I took a sip from the canteen strapped to my side but even so the separation only lasted momentarily. From the looks of things, it looked like we were doing pretty well in avoiding the sandstorm. I couldn’t see too much dust in the distance, and the winds was light compared to what they could be. My attention was more-so focused on keeping up with the Kazekage and taking note of the route we were taking to reach the Rain— perhaps I would need to head this way while engaging in other endeavors.
The only thing that irritated me about this journey was the heat. It was bad enough the sun was scorching the landscape, but wearing all black ensured that I would be cooked along with it. I took a glance up at Obelisk as we progressed—he had taken to the skies shortly after we departed from the village and hadn’t come back down since. He seemed to be enjoying himself in all that open space, flexing his wings and flying around in a playful manner. Watching the bird of prey soar through the skies brought an idea to fruition. He was smaller than average compared to his brethren, but he was far more capable than them. Perhaps with a little incentive and training (on both our parts), we could fly the skies together.
My vision dissipated as I heard the Kazekage’s voice. It seemed that battle was the furthest thing from her mind when it came to the summit. While it would have been enjoyable to test the other shinobis in battle, I understood. This meeting would determine the direction the shinobi world would be headed towards, whether that was peace or war. She wanted me to be my eyes, my ears, and observe all that I could. Needless to say, attention to detail was an important skill for a shinobi, as well as the ability to analyze, and I would do my best to succeed.
Our trek came to a halt as she motioned for us to stop. I glanced forward and noticed the grouping of spiders not too far away from where we were. They might have been deadly predators to weaker creatures in the desert, but to us (a kage and a jounin), they were more like the prey and we the predators—Coupled with the fact that Obelisk flew overhead, the group of insects threat level was reduced to damn near zero. It would’ve been a swift death for the arachnids, but their angel had been with them that day as a simple arrow into the midst of their formation would startle them and scurry the creatures. As they scattered, she turned to me and asked if I would follow her orders.
“Without a question.” , I responded with a slight friendly smile.
“If, however, you are threatened in any kind of way.. we will not hesitate to eliminate all dangers.”, I added after a momentary pause. We, of course, referred to myself and Obelisk.
That went without saying; my loyalty was to the village, my home, and all that accompanied it. Demiyah Akiyama
