Standing at 5'2, Okita does not possess a towering stature although that is to be expected from an adolescent. His athletic and muscular physique, however, makes up for his height. His physical attributes are more toned than the average shinobi. Weighing in at around one-hundred sixty pounds, his frame resembles that of an Olympic gymnast. His BFP (body fat percentage) is around eight percent, a level where little fat remains on top of his chiseled abs. His constant training has allowed him to maintain his body in peak physical condition. There is little room for improvement, having reached the limit of his strength at his level. Without sacrificing speed, Okita will not be able to increase his muscle mass at this point in time.
Even without his other physical aspects, Sōji's facial features alone have captured the attention of others. His emerald irises resemble the color of the gemstone, his gaze is often nerve-wracking,some have described it as feeling as though they were pierced through their soul. His long brown hair flows down to the base of his for the most part, but he also ties up the back of his hair from time to time. His complexion is light, unlike most of the other shinobi in Kumogakure no Sato. His skin is also devoid of scars and blemish, an unusual trait for people in their line of work.
In contrast to his extravagant physical traits, Okita has opted for a more traditional approach when it comes to his attire. His usual clothing consists of a simple kimono jacket on when he is residing inside the village. The first layer covers over his otherwise exposed abdominals. The second layer of the jacket is made up of red with orange trims along the chest area. A golden chain link design is engraved on the left side of the kimono, giving the otherwise plain jacket an artistic flare to it. He wears a pair of green hakama to cover his lower torso. Using a white obi sash, Okita straps it around his waist to keep the hakama tight and secure. On his left leg, a kunai holster is strapped onto his thigh giving him quick access to a weapon. A shuriken holster is situated on the right side of his leg and although it is not his dominant hand, Sōsuke has trained to the point where he has become ambidextrous. Because he chooses to wear a pair of geta even during the winter, a pair of thick white tabi socks is also needed. |
Okita Sōji is an amalgamation of half-truths and half-lies. He is a brilliant liar and actor, a master of misdirection. He hides his true emotions behind his facade of charm and flair and reveals his knowledge to others when he deems fit. The only person who knows how deep the rabbit hole goes is him. His life thus far has been filled with highs and lows, more so with the latter. He understands that the human experience is filled with pain, loss, and sorrow. His cynical view on the world exacerbates his sardonic nature, making others feel uncomfortable when he jokes around. His words and actions, however, often do not line up with his feelings underneath. Because of this, Okita struggles to find meaning in his own life and others, struggling to fit in and striving to prove his worth to those he care about.
Despite these flaws, Okita does have some good qualities to him. He holds deep respect for those who are able to defeat him in battle. His devotion to Kumogakure no Sato is incorruptible. He views himself as nothing more than a tool, an extension of the will of his village. He holds no qualms with killing others, a trait that evolved from the inner darkness that resided within him. He is a genius when it comes to combat, but he knows that his natural talents are not enough. Years of training has honed his skills to become sharp like the blade he carries. But even then, there is a "childlike" aspect to his being that hasn't been stolen from him. There are some moments when he can be sweet and gentle to others, but it is rare. He is protective of others, fearless at the sight of overwhelming odds, even if it is at the cost of his own life. To Okita, his life is expendable and lives to serve Kondo.

Okita Sōji was born into a samurai clan. He lost both of his parents, leaving his older sister, Okita Mitsu, to take care of the young child. Life was hard on them, so his sister decided to leave him in the care of another. Her idea was noble, however, it was hard for a child his age to understand the decision she had made. That was how Okita came to live at the Shieikan school under the pretext that he was a live-in student. He was a loner and treated like a servant during his time there, often being bullied by the other students at the dojo. Okita kept silent on the matter for he was grateful for the fact that he at least had shelter and food.
The adopted son of the sōke (headmaster) of the Shieikan school was Isami Kondo. His kindness kept the inner darkness within Sōji from growing and the child looked up to him. Even then, the child refused to open up to others and continued to hold his silence. It was only a matter of time before Kondo found bruises on Okita, demanding to know who had committed the deed. Sōji lied to the man, but he received even more beatings for "snitching" on the other students. When he had the time, Okita would spend it outside the school, looking past the horizon in the direction his former home. Kondo caught him doing so at one point and comforted the child who believed that his parents and sister had abandoned him. "Nothing in this world happens without a purpose." but Okita told the man to not reprimand the other students, for it would further aggravate their behavior.
Even though he continued to live in constant torment, Sōji observed and practiced hard in order to defeat the others. His chance to shine arrived when a tournament was being held at their school. Through sheer determination, the child was able to advance to the final round where he would spar against the best student in the dojo. It was a hard battle, with blood dripping from forehead, Okita pressed on. Striking his opponent square in the chest, his bokken was poised to deliver the final blow. But his swing never came for Kondo had stopped the child with an embrace. Sōji knew then that the man had been right as a rush of emotion flooded his being. Kondo was the only person who ever treated him like a normal human being. It is then that Okita realized his purpose in the world and that was to serve Isami Kondo.
At this point in time, Okita decided to join the Ninja Academy with the approval of Kondo who acted as his foster guardian. Although he had started later than the other students, he excelled in his classes. Part of the reason for his accelerated learning was because he had a natural aptitude for the shinobi arts. But the main reason was because he was driven and motivated to become someone who was capable of protecting Kondo. The man would become a surrogate older brother/father figure to Okita who did his best to live up to Kondo's expectations. He continued to improve his kenjutsu techniques when he had the chance, never forgetting that he was born into a samurai clan.
During his time in the Academy, a new arrival in the Shieikan school would forever change the lives of its inhabitants. A young man named Hijikata Toshizō arrived at their school to learn the techniques of the Tennen Rishin-ryū. Kondo and Toshizō became friends soon afterwards and Okita became more distant from his mentor. He was jealous of the attention that Hijikata was receiving, but Okita knew that the man would be useful in helping Kondo realize his ambitions.
Sōji became a Genin at the age of thirteen and began to seclude himself, Okita was now a path to attain more power, even at the cost of losing the friends he sought to protect. | ooc info
