appearance

Keiko is a tall and slender woman, coming in at 5'9" and 140lbs. Long, pink hair reaches the middle of her back. For combat purposes, she puts it into a loose side braid to keep it out of her face. Her eyes are a deep mixture of pink and red, with long, fluttery black lashes. All of this color serves to brighten her pale complexion. Her lips are almost always curved into a flirtatious smirk, as if to imply she always knows something. And she is constantly being told that she has a youthful glow. Keiko has two identifying marks on her body: a red tattoo on her left shoulder, and a scar on her right hip bone that extends upwards, just barely peeking above where her pants would sit.

When Keiko is working at the flower shop, or even strolling about the village, she's almost never caught without a flower crown. Her choice in flowers varies based on her mood, but she loves the splash of color and the scent of flowers that accompanies her throughout her day. Since she's always around flowers, they act as a natural perfume on her skin. While working she wears an apron to protect her clothing from dirt and pollen. And though some might find it odd, she prefers to stroll about barefoot in her shop, or whenever she is in a grassy area. For her combat attire, Keiko wears the standard Jounin outfit, and is eagerly awaiting the day when she can shed her green vest and don the plain white, gray, and black attire of the ANBU.

personality

To the world and the customers of her flower shop, Keiko is a softspoken woman who would rather kill you with kindness than spill blood over an issue. She is always smiling, and those around her can't help but smile too. Keiko is easy to be around, causing those who speak with her to feel comfortable divulging more than they thought they would. She is inquisitive by nature, and information gathering comes incredibly easy to her. Not that a skilled user of Genjutsu ever has to ask.

Though Keiko spent most of her childhood in an orphanage, her time spent with her adoptive grandmother taught her about love and family. She never felt any animosity towards Konoha, or jealousy towards the children at the academy who had a family to return home to. Quite the opposite, actually. Keiko loves strongly, and refuses to give up on those she cares about. She mothers the younger generations, always making it known that she is there if they ever need advice or help. She has a strong belief in the 'Will of Fire' that binds the shinobi in the village together, and is fiercely loyal to Konohagakure and it's people. Which is why she hopes to obtain the position of ANBU in the near future. She is also incredibly stubborn, but has a smart enough head on her shoulders to know when she needs to back off.

Despite this, Keiko is weighed down by her unshakable faith in others. Even after losing her friend and teammate as he became a missing-nin, she still believes in him, and will do everything in her power to bring him back and clear his name. But there have been many cases where this faith in others made her naive to what they were truly plotting, and she's got the scars to prove it.

biography

Growing up in the Konoha Orphanage, Keiko was the lady in pink without a surname. She preferred the company of plants and animals to people, and her physical prowess was laughable. Many of the other children were angry that they'd been disowned, and they directed this anger at their village. When it was learned that Keiko didn't share this view, she was quickly ostracized by the children of the orphanage. But she never held this against them. She was always there when one of the children needed a shoulder to cry on, and was fiercely protective of her fellow orphans, yelling at bullies and taking the abuse in their place. Despite this, many believed she would never become a kunoichi. But Keiko adamantly declared that she'd one day be a member of the ANBU Corps.

Shortly after her eighth birthday, Keiko was given the opportunity to realize this dream. A frail old woman by the name of Kaede adopted her. The old woman was struggling in her old age to maintain her flower shop, and Keiko eagerly offered to help her adoptive grandmother. In exchange, the woman offered her so much more. Upon the discovery of Keiko's unusual, flower producing Kekkai Genkai, the old woman gave her the last name of 'Hana'. Finally having a surname, Keiko felt as though she was whole. But Kaede didn't stop there. She agreed to enroll the eager girl into the Shinobi Academy, and taught her many life lessons about love and family.

During her time at the academy, Keiko was determined to prove to those at the orphanage that she would graduate a kunoichi. Her physical prowess hadn't improved, but she made up for this with her natural, prodigal abilities in Genjutsu. For everything else, Keiko spent hours studying and practicing, and it all paid off. At the age of thirteen she graduated from the Shinobi Academy, and was placed on a team of Genin with two boys: Tsukiya and Daisuke.

The team was rather close-knit, with the boys bonding like two peas in a pod, while Keiko and Tsukiya were constantly bickering, making up, and then finding something else to fight about. As the Chunin exams rolled around, their team trained hard in preparation. Keiko dedicated many hours every day, realizing how heavily she'd relied on Genjutsu until this point. Despite making it to the final round, Keiko was matched up with a taijutsu specialist who forced her into close-range combat, and inevitably, she lost. The fifteen year old was crushed, but she was proud of her teammate, Tsukiya, who had passed. There was always next year, and she'd be ready.

At the age of sixteen, Keiko had spent a year training her Kekkai Genkai and learning new techniques, all of which paid off at the Chunin Exams. It had been a hard year for her. Constantly training when she wasn't on a mission, and unfortunately, saying goodbye to her loving grandmother. Her number one cheerleader didn't even live to see her pass the Chunin Exams, making her promotion rather bittersweet. Keiko went through the normal stages of grieving before her bright smile returned. But those who were close to her knew how much she was still hurting. The only family she'd ever had was gone, and she was alone. But the Tsubasa boys and Daisuke pulled her out of her depression, and reminded her that she always had a family with her old team. Jiyuu had become much like her own younger brother, Daisuke a dear friend, and Tsukiya... he was so much more. And as the two became Tokubetsu Jounin, it became clear to Keiko what she felt for the man.

But before either could act on their feelings, he was gone. Rumors spread throughout Konohagakure that Tsukiya had attempted to murder the Godaime Hokage. And he fled the village without saying goodbye, becoming a missing-nin in the process. Now a Jounin, Keiko works closely with the Godaime Hokage, and hopes to one day become an ANBU member. But before that, she intends to find Tsukiya, clear his name and bring him back home.
