Demiyah stands at an average height of five feet and eight inches tall. She has blood red hair that reaches all the way down to her hips. She keeps it up in a ponytail most of the time, not wanting it to get in the way while she is on a mission or training. Her eyes are a dark red color, almost matching the vibrant, and very natural, color of her hair. Her left eye, however, is clouded and sightless, a long scar from her forehead down just below her eye showing just how it became sightless. Demiyah doesn't hide the scar, and she doesn't hide the fact that she's blind in one eye. She has thin lips and rather averagely shaped cheek bones. Being the serious and ever contemplating woman that she is, you never see her smile too much. Her expressions are often vacant or disinterested, though on the inside she may be feeling something completely different.
The Sunagakure --- has a lithe body and she is very well endowed in the chest area. She's not shy about her appearance and doesn't try to cover herself up with clothing, mostly because she feels that too much just gets in the way when she's working. She's got long, toned legs and arms and nimble fingers. She has a tattoo on her left shoulder of her clans symbol in jet black ink. She has a second tattoo on her right hip of a hawk in a tribal style.
COMBAT OUTFIT
Starting Demiyah's outfit if a simple pair of short, black cloth short. They don't reach very far down her body, barely making it a quarter of the way down her thighs. She wears a dark brown leather top that's lined with protective padding and a layer of white cloth near the bottom to help with gaps in the armor. The shirt is tight and is open from the middle of her chest all the way to her neck. The only thing keeping the shirt closed is a collar-like piece that wraps around her neck to protect the sensitive and crucial area there. Under the shirt, she wears a article of clothing that has sleeves but stops just below her collarbone. Demiyah has metal shoulder plates, arm plates, and hand protectors to keep her extremities safe. To top the entire outfit off, she wears knee high leather boots. The edges fold over to give a more aesthetically pleasing look. She has a strap around her left leg, and another strap around her right leg that holds her main ninja tools. She carries a quiver and her bow on her back, and the scrolls that she carries she keeps hooked on the back right side of her belt for easy access. Demiyah wears this outfit in situations both to do with her job and that are casual.
When it comes to formal wear, Demiyah tries to keep her wardrobe simple. She wears simple wooden sandals and a plain, plum colored kimono with nothing on it except for a small embroidered path with her clans symbol on it. She wears her hair up in a tight bun with nothing holding it up except for a crimson colored ribbon.
Demiyah only wears one piece of jewelry: a pendant. Her and her sister both have the same one, and their father gave it to them when they first graduated the academy. Demiyah views it as a way to strengthen her connection with her sister, and she never takes it off. She never has and she never will if she can so help it.

Demiyah is a rather stern character. She doesn't have much of a humorous side and is one to remain quiet and contemplative rather than energetic and overly lively. The Kazekage tends to remain serious about most topics, knowing that most things that she's faced with are often things that need to be resolved with tact and in a careful manner. She takes her job very seriously and isn't one to shirk her duties, even if she's worse for wear. Humor tends to go right over her head, though she's been known to be incredibly sarcastic. However, her form of sarcasm tends to be patronizing and clever rather than lighthearted like most people. She has a way with words that lets her insult people without them really realizing it, or at least makes them have to really think about what she said before they truly understand what she means.
Many often mistake her seriousness for emotionless. While this isn't exactly true, Demiyah tries to keep her emotions out of most things, choosing to think logically and tactically rather than emotionally. That being said, Demiyah tends to be one of the most outspoken of the shinobi, giving her opinion on the matters at hand without much of a filter and without a single thought as to what her comrades may think about it. She always has and always will push for the things that she thinks is right for the village, especially when it comes to what the general assembly wants. If she doesn't agree with what someone wants or thinks, she will not hesitate to tell them. She also won't hesitate in tearing their ideal apart to try and make them see the flaws in it.
Demiyah is far from being emotionless, however. In fact, she's the farthest from emotionless that one can get. She's passionate about life and everything to do with it. There are many things that she hates about the way that the village is run, and it's that passion for her village that makes her such an outspoken woman. She's caring and kind in her own way, though she can often come off as rude or cruel, even if she's just trying to help.
It's been said that Demiyah is one of the smartest shinobi in the village, and that tends to be a very true statement. She thinks everything through carefully, often sitting back and planning her next move rather than rushing right into something. She spends hours playing Go and Shogi with the elders of the village, finding them better company than most people her own age. They are the few people who've ever been able to beat her at her own game, thus she enjoys the challenge that they give her. Her intelligence is just one of the reasons that she became Kazekage in the first place.
This woman has quite a few faults, starting with her image of herself. She has a hard time loving herself, burdened by her actions at the academy and at her chuunin exams only a few short years before. Because of this, she has a very hard time loving other people, even though she tends to care about every single person that she meets. She's not an easy one to understand and she doesn't make it easy for people to get to know her. After all, how can you love other people when you hate yourself? She keeps her past to herself, except when it comes to her elder sister, and tries to keep people at arms length. Those who try to break her walls down are often met with quite a bit of resistance and cutting words that are aimed to push people even further away. However, when the claws start flying, it usually means that you're winning and she's losing the battle to protect herself from the pain of love and loss.
Demiyah does not have a hard time killing people, and she gladly does what she needs to to protect the village, but every single kill she makes haunts her. Her sleep is plagued by nightmares about every single person that she's killed, and thus is known to be a bit of an insomniac from time to time. There are times in which she won't sleep for a day or two at a time until she's just too exhausted to keep on going. Granted, it does affect her performance in the field, but she tries to force herself to rest as much as she can handle. There is so much pain and regret in her heart for the things that she's done, that she simply has a hard time closing her eyes and not seeing the face of every person that she'd killed in her lifetime. In addition, she keeps a journal in which she writes down the names of all those that shes killed with the intention of trying to make things right some day. She feels that if she can at least remember the lives that she's taken, she can try to help better the lives of the people that she protected because of them.
If there is one thing that really scares Demiyah, other than her nightmares, it's the dark. During her chuunin exams, she lost sight in one eye. The event brought on the fear of the dark. She had a hard enough time trying to see without one eye, but when you added the darkness, it made everything so much more scary to her than it really should have been. She's held the fear since then, unable to get over it, and often sleeping with the lights on or a single candle lit to help drive the shadows back into their corners.
Because Demiyah is blind in her left eye, she tends to favor that side quite a bit. She grows irritable when people decide to stand in her blind spot, but instead of saying anything or letting onto the fact that she's frustrated, she will move into a position in which she can see everyone and everything as clearly as possible. She's ever aware of her surroundings and she's terribly observant with every single detail, making her a dangerous marksman even without one eye.

Demiyah was born only a minute after her twin sister, just over twenty-four years ago. The birthing was far too much for their mother to take and she died from complications of the girls' birth. Their father, a well polished and respected Akiyama man, loved them more than his own life, and though the loss of his wife was difficult, he put the care of his two girls before everything else. They grew up loved and cared for, never spoiled, but it took the pressing of both twins before the Akiyama man would allow his daughters to enroll in the academy. He knew that the life of a shinobi wasn't guaranteed to be long, so he was wary of allowing his daughters to follow the path that many others had taken before them.
During her years in the academy, Demiyah spent most of her time studying than she did training her body. She was intelligent and could recite to you everything and anything that she had ever learned, word for word, actually. She was a more than capable shot with a weapon, but she was sub-par with her jutsu at the time. Having had the truth of the academy graduation ceremony kept from her, she had no idea what was going to happen. If she had, she would have prepared herself far more than she had. She had a far harder time trying to perform the jutsu than she did having reciting the information that she'd been fed over the years. She just barely passed and became a genin, put on a team with her twin sister and one of their childhood friends.
Soon after she became a genin, the team was sent on a mission that proved to be far more dangerous than it had been listed. The team was instructed to obtain some supplies from a small town further out in the desert. The journey was easy, but acquiring the supplies themselves was a matter of extreme difficulty. Bandits had overrun the town they had been sent to, and upon arrival, the team was attacked and cornered in an old building. Unfortunately for the bandits, the building was filled with weapons, and while they were busy plundering the town, the team armed themselves with weapons to take out the intruders. It was the first time that Demiyah had ever touched a bow and the first time that she had ever taken a life.
They left all the bandits dead, saving as many of the villagers as possible. Their sensei urged the survivors in the tiny village to migrate to Sunagakure where they would be protected while the team cleaned up the mess and found their supplies. They buried every body they found and left the town with their supplies, and a few more scarred genin.
She started to keep a journal of all the people that she had killed, because after that mission, all she felt was extreme guilt, and even after being put on the same team as her sister and their third exam team member, she couldn't shake it off. Mission after mission, Demiyah hesitated when it came to battle, and was completely paralyzed when it came to killing people. Slowly but surely she worked herself out of it, not wanting to be the weak kunoichi who wouldn't even kill to protect her village. She kept practicing with her bow, day and night when she wasn't on a mission and when she wasn't training with her team. She developed her own style and technique for it. She worked on her accuracy and her ability to put enough power behind her shots.
After about a year of being a genin, Demiyah's genin team entered the chuunin exams. The first two tests they passed with flying colors. When it came to the final battles, having no need for a preliminary exam, Demiyah's sister fought before her. Her battle ended in a stalemate, but her sister was injured to the extreme. Demiyah hurt for her sister, and was having a hard time focusing when her own match was called. Unfortunately for Demiyah, she had to fight one of the older genin of her own village. One of her closest friends in fact. Even more unfortunate was the fact that he, Sora, was not going to take it easy on his friend, not that Demiyah would have ever wanted him too. Their fight lasted quite a while, and both seemed evenly matched in skill. However, Demiyah remained distracted, worried for her sisters health and safety. It's what lead to Demiyah's own loss of her left eye. Sora struck her in the eye with a kunai. In response, a completely and totally enraged Demiyah put an arrow through her friends heart, leaving him dead on the battlefield. He was yet another name that was listed in her journal.
After she recovered, Demiyah found that she'd been promoted to chuunin. She stayed behind from quite a few missions, however, needing to train herself to use her bow now that she only had one eye. It was like training herself all over again, and it was more taxing and daunting than it had been the first time that she learned. There were many days that she went home feeling irritable and depressed over her own failure to better her skills. She was train from dawn until midnight every single day that she could. After almost half a year, she was finally able to surpass her previous skill level, becoming even more deadly than she had been in the first place. Her skill with a bow was unmatched and she was soon known for being able to take out an enemy before they even knew that she was there.
Two years passed (by this time she was about 17), and Demiyah's skills increased even further, and she was promoted to Jounin. At this time she started to train with her family's kekkei genkai, using it in addition to her bow techniques and wind techniques to create devastating combinations in battle.
When she was 20, Demiyah was promoted to the rank of Kazekage. She was appointed to the position by the previous Kazekage on his deathbed. She accepted the position with grace and honor, and has since held the position. She's spent the last few years trying to bring peace to her village, working her hardest to avoid a war if she could so help it, though the previous Kazekage's ideals are hard to move from the minds of her subjects. | ooc info
