kagami oda hello, hello; c-can you hear me? general info
shinobi info
appearance Large fuchsia eyes are Kagami's most prevalent feature, framed with dark, thick lashes. Her skin is fair and her features are delicate - sharp nose, small lips, bony chin and long, slim neck. Pink hair that was once dark brown flows to her shoulder blades, sweeping the sides of her face with straight, shining locks. Her hair is often left down, though when training it is always swept back in to a ponytail or a braid. Her stature is slim, though more curvaceous than average, and she stands at 5'4". She can most often be seen wearing a high-colored, button up, white shirt with short sleeves. On the left sleeve is the kanji for blue, on the right sleeve is the kanji for fire - it represents her kekkei genkai. On top of that, she wears a sleeveless kimono-style dress in a dark blue shade, edged and sashed in a cream color. The dress is slit on both sides, revealing tight black shorts that extend to her kneecaps underneath. [ reference ] When not wearing this, she is styled in a similar fashion, preferring to wear shirts underneath a dress that allows for ease of movement. personality Kagami was meant to emulate the Mirror of Amaterasu from a young age. Honesty and wisdom were two words implanted in to her brain like the law. Because of this, a very straightforward manner is customary to her. She's unafraid to tell things as they are and no one is exempt from this, not even herself. She's the first and last person to berate herself for making a mistake, believing that self-reflection and self-understanding are very important things. Wisdom was a word that was once just a concept: a child cannot gain wisdom from being told to be wise. But she later came to understand that wisdom could be found through contemplation and curiosity. Her concept of wisdom was also furthered by her experiences with Ayase. Light was another word that was tossed around at the compounds of the Oda clan, the idea of being lively and bright. The idea of purity, of bringing good to the world. That was what fire was to them: a cleanser, a chance to start new. But since the death of her sister, light has felt like an unreachable concept. The girl was once likened to a star: forever twinkling and shining, but she sees more of a black hole in herself now. She fears failing others, especially at a personal or emotional level. An ethical and kind manner are often prevalent underneath a more introverted and cautious manner. A regular volunteer at the Konoha orphanage, Kagami feels as if she can fix her past mistakes by helping others, having a strong desire to help the world. She can be charming and charismatic - traits she learned from careful observation of her friend, Umashi - but this does not come as naturally to her as it did to him. She is highly intuitive and perceptive, preferring to wear a calm mask. She likes to see the best in people, as the worst can sometimes frighten her. Kagami extremely skilled for her age, often called a genius, but she works hard. From a young age, she learned how to pick up after her family and take care of them - take responsibility for things overall. This was something that eventually extended to training because, despite her intelligence, she was not nearly as talented as her sister, who she wished to keep up with. She remains humble, knowing that there are many more skilled than her, but her ambition makes her strive for an even higher rank: jounin. A critical person, Kagami searches for flaws more often than not. She is highly cautious around others and can be quite fastidious. Sky-high standards characterize her. She is more sensitive than she appears, easily hurt though she does her best not to show it. Kagami is also very flirtatious, a trait she first developed to get her mind off of her sister. She is not above drinking as well, though it is illegal. She's seventeen: partially a wreck and partially put together. It depends on the day you catch her on. biography She was named Kagami because a mirror once brought Amaterasu's light back to the world. It was in hopes that Amaterasu's blessings would shine down on the young girl and bring her joy and happiness. Her twin sister was named Magako, the complement to Amaterasu's mirror and the jewel that was hung outside the cave Amaterasu once hid in. They were fated from birth to be a close pair. She was once a girl of unmatched cheerfulness and charm. Laughter always escaped her lips, smiles always danced on the edges of her lips. Their parents were overbearing and argumentative and sometimes cruel, but it didn't matter because Kagami and Magako had each other. Trials made their bonds grow thick but their cheer never vanished. It was a given that the two Oda girls would be seen skipping down the streets every day, dark hair billowing out behind them in glossy waves. Later on, the twins were placed in to the Shinobi Academy. The two were hailed as proteges, Magako moreso than Kagami. They were both highly intellectual individuals and caught on to everything at a rapid rate. This kept the perfectionist natures of their parents off their backs, though lapses in grades and success would often provoke an argument. But, like always, it was alright. They had each other. When they graduated from the academy at age twelve, the two chose weapons according to clan customs. Kagami chose a pair of fans and Magako chose a staff. Their reliance on each other would later prove to be an issue when the class was separated in to genin teams. Siblings were rarely placed on teams together due to conflict of interest and the twins were no exception to this. Kagami was placed on a genin team with Amemori Hayate and Fukui Kenta. Magako was placed on a genin team with Yamagata Kichiro and Oshiro Osamu. Kagami later learned that Fukui Kenta suffered from depression due to the death of his mother and the neglect of his father. Slowly, she helped him climb our of his rift. It was what she had always been taught to do: be the light shining in the darkness, just like her goddess Amaterasu. It wasn't easy. Depression wasn't something that could be cured with a kind word or smile. It was something he had to feel ready to let go of as well and eventually, after one and a half years when the group turned fourteen, he moved on. They took the chuunin exams in Sunagakure soon after that and made it easily to the final rounds. It was said that Kagami's and Magako's teams were the most advanced of their year and it was true. The teams were set to face off in the final round, just a few lucky shinobi having made it in with the two Konoha teams as the six had taken up the majority of the eight spots. Kagami first fought Kenta, her sister's teammate. Kenta was another ninjutsu user and they fought, flame versus flame. But she had an advantage: her fans allowed her to perform techniques at a more rapid pace and she won. The next person she fought was her own teammate, Amemori Hayate. He used water release which worked too well against her fire release. She hoped to overpower his water release by not giving him time to cast the seals quickly, but he made hand seals at the speed of light. His water release was normally on a larger scale than her fire release, so she could not evaporate it and go through it. She was exhausted soon enough but so was he, due to his low chakra reserves. He ran out of chakra before she did and she was able to win the match. Before she could fight for the honor of being the winner, she passed out. She later learned that her sister had won the entire tournament, but they both became chuunin that year. Her sister had been skilled and she had been determined. Hayate and Osamu from Konoha had also been advanced enough to chuunin rank as well. The twins' next ambition was jounin rank. It was not unheard of to reach it at sixteen or seventeen; this was an honor they yearned for. The next year passed in boring manner (mostly training) until the two turned fifteen. It was then that Kagami began to notice changes in her sister. The black monster of depression had touched Kagami's life once more, but again it had not touched her. It had touched her sister. In a way, she should have seen it coming. The shinobi world was high stress and Magako had always borne the brunt of it. Kagami was exceptional and Magako was expected to always exceed Kagami - it wasn't easy. Their childhood had also taken a toll on both of them: between the screaming and the crying and the threats, the two had broken but Magako moreso. Kagami was quick to push it off - "they never hit us" - but Magako was far more sensitive. Kagami tried to help her sister, tried to make her feel happy, and sometimes, she thought the girl was getting better. But she was wrong. Kagami left for a mission but while she was away, her parents fought again, pushing Magako past her breaking point. By the time Kagami returned home, her sister was far beyond saving - she couldn't sweet-talk the knife out of Magako's kneck. The burial was hard, seeing Magako's smiling face in photos when she knew the face in the coffin was gaunt and bloodless. Magako had been so much of who Kagami was. The pain was like an ocean, washing up on her, worse at some times, better at others. She was a stubborn person, refusing to cry out of the comfort of her own room but the tears did fall. She hated herself, she hated her parents, she even hated her sister at one point but none of that made the throbbing go away. During this period of grieving, she learned that one of her friends, Umashi Hirozen, had killed his brother and defected from Konoha. It was during this time period that she died her hair a strange shade of red that bordered on pink. Glossy, dark locks had been a symbol that she and Magako had shared and she hated the memory of it. Time didn't heal her wounds - that wasn't how grief worked. She healed her own, finding comfort in the friends around her, in training, rebuilding the life had been shattered. But what really was a life-changing experience was a training mission with a hermit who went by the name Ayase. The two met while Kagami was on a mission. Ayase was a master of the kekkei genkai Aoihi. She offered to train Kagami in it, not knowing anything about Kagami's sister nor past. Taking leave for a training mission, Kagami took Ayase up on the offer and they worked day and night to improve Kagami's skills. Ayase often sensed Kagami's negative attitude and berated it, telling the girl: "Everyone suffers. What matters isn't how much you suffer but how you deal with it." Ayase never asked about Kagami's past and for this, Kagami was grateful. Kagami returned a few months before her seventeenth birthday. Her skills had improved drastically, so much that everyone suspected she would be promoted to jounin. But when she was called in to the Hokage's office a week after her seventeenth birthday, she was given the ranking of special jounin. She was fine with this, as she knew her genjutsu and taijutsu skills needed to be improved quite a bit before she would be considered for the rank. | ooc info ☆ NAME LANA ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS Kotone Namino Seiren Tachibana Yuzu Kagome ☆ FACE CLAIM PANDORA HEARTS LOTTI BASKERVILLE, oda kagami THIS CHARACTER BELONGS TO LANA.
