Small and woefully underdeveloped is how many see this little Hane. Hitomi is not the most intimidating of sorts nor does she demand any sort of presence when she enters a room. Yet, despite this, Hitomi holds herself in a proud manner, regal almost, though that has everything to do with her family status in her clan and nothing to do with her personality. The young Hane has no defining curves or bust (unless you count a lack of one as such) and when combined with her short cut hair, there are times that Hitomi has been addressed as a boy instead of a female. She'll blush at this, embarrassed and perhaps just a bit ashamed of that fact. Yet, rather than dressing to accentuate the lean body that Hitomi does have, she instead hides under flowing brown robes when she is not training or on a mission. This does add to her regal appearance, however. When Hitomi is on missions she sticks to a brown dress that comes up to her thighs, along with leg and arm bandages.
Along with that, the most notifiable thing about Hitomi is the cloth covering half of Hitomi's face. It is a sheer material that she can quite easily see out of- it does not blind her. Her eyes, which she is named after, are exactly that of a bird's to prove her clan's heritage and blood. While she is quite proud of her connection to her clan, her inner bird, and that she will one day lead her clan, she does not appreciate being judged or treated differently because of her eyes. She thus hides them under this cloth. The image on the cloth is a bird.
Her hair is a light golden brown color that matches the light coloring of the bird she bonded to as a child, a nankeen kestrel. Because of the pale, white underbelly of the nankeen kestrel, Hitomi too has pale skin. |
True to the ways of her clan, Hitomi is a relatively quiet soul, rather taking her time analyzing a situation or group of people than speaking first. But beyond that reticent exterior lays a devout ninja to her homeland and her team. She is proud to be a Hane and loves her clan deeply. Hitomi follows rules and orders by the letter, hardly ever disobeying a command no matter her own personal opinions about it. At times Hitomi has been called a 'sheep' because of this, as if she cannot think for herself. Despite those judgments, Hitomi has a keen way of reading battles and situations, she just doesn't have it in her to go against her sensei or elders. When you do get to know Hitomi, the little Hane is an empowering teammate, having a gift to rally those she trusts and those around her. Yet, regardless of that, Hitomi is often overlooked for her lack of physical skills and it is something she takes quite personally. Because of that Hitomi often judges others before she gets to know them and is awfully sensitive to words thrown at her.
While Hitomi is respectful to those older than her, she can sometimes come off as a bit pretentious. Yes, she's understanding and empathetic, but she also believes that her clan is one of the most unique out there. She is cautiously optimistic to take her parent's place as the leader one day and is striving to do her best to reach that kind of level.
Hitomi's main skills are used to spy and support her teammates. She works to become a skilled Kanchi Taipu.

Hitomi was born to the heat and humidity of the land and her mother's labor was a long one, proving both Hane women to be tough souls. As with the custom in the Hane clan, the day Hitomi entered the world was the same day she was offered to the Hane birds to bond with one of them. Since Hitomi's father is the leader of the clan, he took her to the secluded area himself, proud of his firstborn and eager for her to bond to one of his own bird's descendants. It didn't take long before one of the birds came forward, a petite and golden nankeen kestrel. Hitomi was chosen by a bird of prey, something that fills her with an immense pride. From that moment on Hitomi was destined to live her life bound to her clan and thus bound to Kumogakure.
For most of her childhood Hitomi proved to be a late bloomer, looking younger than she was, and she was often overlooked by her fellow classmates. This plagued upon the young girl, knowing that this had happen to many in her clan (though most handle it with more grace than Hitomi) and she planned to do anything she could to gain attention. One day she was egged by some of her fellow classmates to jump out of the school's window and preform her transforming jutsu in mid air. She was going to do it to, assured of her blood and her skills, before her teacher pulled her away from the windowsill and scolded the young girl.
The event, of course, landed Hitomi in a lot of trouble and shamed by both her sensei and parents. The students who egged her on just wanted it for a laugh while many of the other students found it lame she couldn't do it. Luckily, Hitomi found refuge in her family and a few classmates who stayed by her side after the dare. From that moment on, Hitomi became quick to judge others she didn't know but bound herself loyally to her clan and friends that stuck by her. In a way, the joke and trouble Hitomi got for it made her into the person she is now, rekindling her bond to her clan and the rules set out for people to follow.
Once her formal 'punishment' ended by her parents, Hitomi's father took her under his wing and started to train her for a moment she longs for. Hitomi is close to her father, doing everything she can to please him and will often push herself farther when he is around. When Hitomi is not training with her team or sensei she is with her clan and father, training specifically the use of the clan's hiden jutsu. Hitomi hopes that through these private training sessions with her father she will be able to better contribute to her team. In some ways Hitomi fears she's not good enough as the rest of the genin. This fear manifested itself so much that she's be hesitant in entering the chunin exams.
Nevertheless, Hitomi is excited to start the next leg of her life, bonding with her teammates and honoring the ties of Hane and Kumogakure. | ooc info
