Grey eyes stared up toward the misty sky, moving lazily in search of any sign of blue sky. There was none. This day seemed to be destined for dreariness and cold. Ronin didn't mind, though. This type of weather was normal for the Land of Water. He couldn't really start complaining about it now, he'd been living there for his entire life. It wasn't beneficial in any way. Bringing his gaze back toward to the throngs of people in front of him, he weaved in and out of the crowds, heading toward the place in which he was supposed to meet his new team. The brand new jounin hadn't expected to have a genin team of his own right off the bat, but he couldn't deny that it was something he'd always been interested in.
These two genin had been pulled for his team for specific reasons. Apparently both of them seemed to be primarily bukijutsu users, and they needed a good teacher. Ronin was the sensei of choice, it seemed. Even if Ronin was a little nervous and excited, it wouldn't show in his face. He kept his features carefully molded to resemble indifference. It was easier when people couldn't read you like a book. Walking with his hands stuffed into his jacket pockets, Ronin was soon upon the location he'd told his two new students to meet him.
It was a small, abandoned clan facility. It was circular in construction, the stones that paved the compound roads broken and jagged in places. Grass was sprouting up from between the cracks and even a few rare flowers bloomed here and there. To the right was a path toward the residential areas of the old compound, and to the left was a massive willow tree that cast even darker shadows over the compound than the clouds in the sky already had. This was one of Ronin's favorite places to train, and he knew that it'd be best to pick a spot that was secluded but still comfortable when introducing himself to the two boys. His goal in the next few weeks was to ready them even more for the chuunin exams. As they were primarily close combat oriented, he needed to help give them the upper hand in a battle. Especially since there were bound to be some extremely challenging opponents this year.
Stepping slowly into the center of the stone clearing, Ronin stared up at the old willow tree. As a slow breeze lazed its way through the compound, Ronin closed his eyes, focusing on the sounds of the world around him. He wanted to hear their footsteps as they approached, assess how light they were on their feet, and then train them to be lighter. He had many plans for these boys, in fact. He'd train them to the best of his abilities, as was his duty. There would be no easy way out, and Ronin's style was often seen as unorthodox and even a little cruel. It couldn't be helped, however. If that's what needed to be done to get those two moving and working like skilled swordsmen, Ronin would do anything, no matter how out of the box it may be.

Cold, dreary, and otherwise void of any signs of clear skies, yeah this was the typical weather of Kirigakure and Shimo enjoyed the weather very much. It was this kind of weather that made this land his home, had been this way for many years though he would of preferred if it was raining. The rain always seemed to make things so much clearer and peaceful plus it would of helped cleared some of the villagers back into their homes. He stared out the window of his home at the many villagers wandering around doing their daily routines. He had to leave home soon, he was assigned to a new sensei and was given a place to meet the man so he had to make sure he was ready. 'Training, meeting squad mates, who knows what else it could be.', he thought to himself as he pulled himself away from the window and headed towards his his hanging clothes he had set out for himself today and began to get changed and dressed.
He placed his lounging clothes upon his bed, folding them nice and neat for when he returned him today to change into before grabbing the first hanger from the peg and removed the shihakshou from it. He took a few moments to adjust his clothes, making sure everything was where it should of been before grabbing the head band he was given upon his graduation from the academy. He admired the head band greatly, thumb running along his villages emblem upon the metal that rested upon the fabric with great admiration. He calmly took the band and wrapped it tightly around one of the shoulders of his outfit before letting out a soft sigh of content as he looked towards the large white Hiyori he had left there. Sliding the well taken care of outfit upon his shoulders, he smiled as he carefully adjusted the sash around his waist and closed it before heading towards the door where his sword rested upon it's mantle.
He headed out into the village, adjusting his sword's sash as he passed by the many faces that crowded it's streets. He knew some of these people, store owners, inn keepers, and plenty of them were fishermen. He put a false smile upon his face, the masked emotion helped him get others to smile and give greetings of their own towards him. He had been practicing these faces in the mirror to help him blend into society, so it was good to see that his practice was paying off. It had taken him a little bit of time but he had finally ended up at the abandoned facility that had housed a clan and yet despite the lack of people living there the facility was still in pretty fair condition yet what was the feeling he had going through his head.
He felt uneasy, yeah that was the best way to put it as he looked around the small circular building, feeling a lump in his throat. He wanted to reach up for the blade that rested upon his back but resisted it for now as he looked around, eyes falling upon what seemed to be a large willow tree. It was there that he saw a person near it, standing there in front the tree as if admiring the large tree. Shimo calmly moved towards the man near the tree, doing his best to keep himself as quiet as he could in case he needed to get out of there, he'd still have a chance to get away without being heard. It wasn't until he had gotten within a few feet of the man that he finally cleared his throat, announcing his presense as he spoke up. "Ronin-sensei?"

Ronin continued to watch the tree in front of him, his eyes still closed. It wasn't until he heard the flutter of wings that he opened his eyes, staring up toward the large hawk that was perched on top of a branch of the old willow tree. Ronin waved the animal over, holding his arm out as Shimo started to walk up behind Ronin. Ronin untied the note around the birds leg and then held his arm a little higher, letting it off into the air. Ignoring his new students inquiry, he unrolled the small paper, reading the few sentences that had been written there. 'Lost one of my students, huh?' he noted calmly to himself, sighing heavily to himself. 'Looks like its just this kid and I, then,' he continued to himself, taking a few moments to roll the paper back up.
"Shimo," he noted calmly, still facing the tree, "You're very quiet on your feet. However, I can still hear you. We're going to train that right out of you." His words came of a mildly threatening, as if even the slightest disappointment on Shimo's end would set the jounin off. "Swordsmen need to be light on their feet. If all of them went trampling into battle constantly, there wouldn't be many left. The select few who train their body to be soundless and light will succeed and live another day compared to those who don't," an heir of finality held his voice, his hands slowly moving up to rest against the hilts of both his blades as he spoke. He made the motion quite obvious, giving his student some time to react.
It was then that he turned, slowly facing the younger man. His movements were carefully calculated, his feet changing position and his back straightening up. Ronin's expression was stony as he looked down at the boy, noting the kids height. 'Useful when the opponent is taller than you,' he noted calmly to himself, his eyes flicking from place to place along the boys form, memorizing everything that he possibly could, not that that would ever be a problem. He did have a photographic memory, after all. 'He was trying to be quiet on his feet. He was nearly silent, but he let up when he moved up behind me,' his mind continued to put everything together, Ronin's gaze finally landing on the boys face, memorizing every feature, from the slightest blemish to the bright color of the boys eyes.
In a slow motion, Ronin grapped the hilt of one of his swords, pulling it slowly from the scabbard, his eyes still on the boys face. "Draw your blade, Shimo Rangetsu. We will not be wasting any time today, and since you are now my only student, my attention will be on you. Let's call this a start to your training for the chuunin exams."

Ronin was quiet, almost purposefully so as he was delivered a message by a carrier hawk before it had flown away, no doubt returning to it's master. He was always so fascinated by the birds, they way the could just gracefully glide through the air as if they were nothing more than a cloud or blade of grass caught up in it's wind. He let himself fall back into reality however as the bird disappeared from view, his eyes slowly returning towards Ronin as he shifted in place, looking towards the man now with slight unease. 'I wonder what the paper was about...hope it wasn't something about me in some way.", he thought to himself as he felt a lump in his throat make itself known before he swallowed, feeling it subside for now. He shook his head before opening his mouth to speak when Ronin finally spoke up, causing him to squeak a bit in surprise before falling silent just as fast, listening to the man's words.
He was going to train that out of him, the sound of that alone actually caused him to shiver in place as he did everything he could not to shift in anyway where he stood. He didn't want to show a sign of weakness towards the man but there was something in his gut that was trying to tell him something, something familiar. 'Is...this fear? W-why am I afraid?', he thought to himself, part him telling him it was just nerves while others told him that it was the same feeling he felt all the time growing up but he was just too stubborn to admit it to himself. His sensei went to work explaining to him the importance of being silent as a swordsmen, due to the fact that most of them would be assassin's, it was probably for the best. He listened intently to his sensei, taking in his movements and teachings as he remained still and focused, even as his sensei touched at his swords as an indication of what failure would bring should he not master his silence.
He watched his sensei turn towards him, his eyes falling the man's stone like gaze as his seemed to check over Shimo carefully. It made him slightly uncomfortable that the man was studying him, as if he was counting the ways he could kill the boy before he could react to it. He noted the man seemed to be very well disciplined, his back was straightened and his stance just breathed to Shimo an air of power and self control. He was a skilled shinobi, that much he could bet on and with his training he knew he would be on the right path. Still, the man had that aura around him, the one that made Shimo's skin crawl with the thoughts of being killed or something bad was going to happen, and the fact that he was withdrawing his sword to challenge him didn'[t help with that very line of thought.
"Ri-right! I'll do what I can!, he said confidently, his hand reaching up behind his shoulder and gripping the white hilt of the sword his father had left for him. With a soft whining sound coming from the sword, he withdrew the blade from it's sheath and swung it out to his side. He let his arm roll, twirling his wrist as he stared towards Ronin before pointing the sword towards him and then angling it up while lowering it down into his other hand's grip. His stance was ready, basic and sturdy as he watched his Sensei's movement's carefully, ready for whatever may come his way, or at least he had hoped.

There was one thing about this man that one could always count on. He was intimidating to the very end. He had the look about him that would give anyone who stared too long chills. It was what made him one of the most intimidating shinobi in the village. Even a man as young as he was, he wasn't a little boy, and his youth always seemed to give him the element of surprise. He certainly seemed to be scaring this boy pretty well. He could feel it. He was uneasy. Ronin didn't smile, and he didn't frown. There was no expression on his face whatsoever. Those who got to know him would eventually figure out that it was just a mask that he wore to protect himself. He kept people distanced, comfortably at arms length with no kinks in his armor for them to sneak in. It was one of Ronin's greatest qualities when it came to being a shinobi of the Hidden Mist. He knew the first exercise that the boy would go through. It was one of the most difficult and most had failed at it when training with him. Ronin slowly let his blade fall, changing the position of it to face downward toward the ground, though he didn't grab for his second blade. This would allow him to effectively block any and every frontal attack that Shimo impressed on him and let him keep his balance. Up until now, Ronin hadn't spoken very much, and Shimo would find that he wasn't exactly talkative. The most he held a conversation was when he was explaining something or making some sort of point. It was best not to get too attached to people. You never knew then they wouldn't be there anymore. "Your first task, Rengetsu. Knock me off my feet. Unsteady me," he said simply, slowly settling into a position that gave him the greatest control and steadiness. "However, you need to catch me first, and this entire abandoned compound is free game," he said with a bit of a smirk, though it looked quite intimidating on the face of a man who never smiled in the first place. He didn't exactly give his student much time to comprehend this before he'd done a hand sign, watching Shimo with a quiet intensity. "Karasu no Hikō," he murmured, his body suddenly pulling apart in what seemed to be a multitude of crows before they flew directly up into the sky and disappeared. Ronin found a good vantage point, performing a few more hand signs, "Karasu Bunshin no Jutsu." When the single clone made of crows appeared before him, Ronin stared himself down. "Give him hell," he noted calmly, watching as the clone nodded, turned and started jumping across the rooftops of the abandoned compound, putting itself in a very open position within a nearby clearing to Shimo. The clone could easily hold off Shimo, so long as it didn't take a direct hit straight to its body. If Shimo managed to get that strike in, Ronin would have to step up his game. "Tōton Jutsu," he noted, using his transparency jutsu to position himself atop a building above the clearing his clone was in, crouched down and watching carefully. He couldn't be seen now. The clone would have to perform its duties without the direct direction of his counterpart. "Let's see what you've got, little swordsman..."Jutsu Used:Karasu no HikōKarasu Bunshin no JutsuTōton Jutsu
