When the Kazekage turned around, the Jounin stopped as well, carefully trying to read any reactions. Upon hearing the deduction, Hara faked a sad pout along with a childishly insulted tone. "Aw, are you saying the poor, little me could make such obscene sounds? Hmph, how very rude..." It was another poke and another expectation of... something. She didn’t know what to expect really. The Kazekage had been pretty patient so far, but the playful Jounin was set on finding something that would get a reaction out of the red-haired woman. It didn’t matter if it was in a good or a bad way.
Continuing to follow the Kage, the Kitsune pondered for a bit before giving a relatively honest answer. Her job paid well enough, but living was expensive, at least for a prankster. "Hm, it’s not the pay actually. It’s just the basic expenses." As soon as she had said that, she shrugged and tossed out a nonchalant comment that was anything but basic. "You wouldn’t believe how much it costs to get twenty cans of paint these days." Of course, she had no intention to actually explain what anyone did with so much paint unless the Kage specifically asked. Even then, the red-haired woman would’ve had to get the riddle right in order to earn any honesty.
The mere mention of barbeque instantly made Hara’s mouth water while her gut rumbled in delight. However, she refused to admit that. Instead, she played aloof, looking at the sky thoughtfully. "Oh, is that so? I am a busy woman, you see... But maybe my schedule can handle a little detour..." Beneath the mask, however, she was ecstatic with the idea. Not only was eating her... hm... third favorite pastime, but eating with someone was even better. People so rarely spent time with her unless she got... assertive. As soon as she figured out if the Kazekage was actually serious about this, she would absolutely seize the chance. With that in mind, she voiced a mischievous question.
"What about this barbeque place anyway? Are you really lonely enough to ask a foreign Jounin to join you for a meal? Hm, hehehe... Or maybe you are just leading me straight into a trap?"
After the answer, there was a long pause. Naturally, Hara had taken note of the sigh. So, the Kazekage thought she was too smart for this, hm? Well then, it was time to fix that. A sneaky smirk spread on her lips. "Then, how’s this for a riddle..." Oh yes, she knew exactly what to ask next. With her most mysterious tone, she breathed a whisper into the wind. "What was your name before you were ever given one?" So far no one had managed to figure out this one and for a good reason too... Even in a simple game of riddles, the Kitsune couldn’t resist cheating.

The young Kazekage took note of Hara's tone. It seemed to reprimand her for assuming that the noise was from her stomach. She'd heard the noise enough to know what it was. It was distinct and it'd come from the direction of Hara's body. Demiyah wasn't going to play coy like she was. She was just going to be honest the first time. There was never a reason to sugarcoat things, and that was a tendency of hers that seemed to piss the Sunagakure council off quite a bit. The Kazekage had no filter. She would say what was on her mind whenever it came to mind. She wouldn't give Hara the enjoyment of a response. It wasn't something that Demiyah particularly cared about. Stomach's growled. People grew hungry. Why make a fuss over it?
Ignoring the further comments about cans of paint, the Kazekage took a sharp turn as the bath branched off into three different directions. Her one good eye focused on the world in front of her, not giving much care to let her gaze wander. She was trying to listen to Hara, so the world didn't interest her as much as it normally would have. Pausing once more, she turned to look at Hara again. "Kitsune, don't play coy. I just offered to treat you to lunch. I'm sure if you had other plans, you wouldn't have been out here riding on top of the water while holding onto a fishing pole with a rogue ninja at the other end," she noted in a matter of fact tone, her arms crossing slowly over her chest.
"Sunagakure and Konohagakure are allies, if you didn't know. If I were to drag a Leaf jounin into a trap, it'd likely start a war. So no, I'm not leading you into a trap, and it's alright to dine with me. Maybe it'll stop that annoying stomach of yours," she continued moodily, turning on her heel when she was finished talking and starting back onto the path once again. She didn't uncross her arms from her chest, listening when Hara started to talk again, refusing to seem annoyed with her. She'd already promised to answer any questions that Demiyah had, not ask another riddle.
Shrugging lightly, she showed no interest in answering any more riddles. "I'd rather you answer my questions, Kitsune. As that was your promise, was it not? Riddles aren't a way to keep me interested, it's the way to get me to walk away from you and rescind my invitation to eat," she still sounded quite moody, feigning annoyance even though it was just the fact that she wasn't interested in the woman's riddles.

Much to Hara’s silent disappointment, Demiyah was a tough nut to crack, perhaps the toughest she had ever met. The trickster was starting to wonder if the moody leader even knew how to have fun. If the reactions so far were any indication, the answer seemed to be... nope. She really needed to fix that. Unfortunately, riddles weren’t the way to go anymore. Too bad really. That kind of took away the joy of victory... Oh well, maybe some other time...
However, even from the disappointing tirade, one detail stuck. What should’ve been merely a justification really got some gears turning. After the Kazekage was done with her moody statements, the trickster fell completely quiet and looked rather thoughtful. It was like a small eternity. Hara did so enjoy her dramatic silences. The power they gave to simple statements was simply... stunning. "Ah, so it’s a date then. This is how you ask people out." It was a completely flat and serious comment. Of course she knew what the Kazekage had actually meant, but the opportunity for misunderstanding was far too delicious to pass up.
And it gave her the most delightful idea.
Hara continued with some idle commentary. "You aren’t exactly my type, you know. Bit too rough and direct, buuuut... I’ll keep an open mind." Even if the Kazekage protested, well, especially if she protested, the blonde kunoichi was going to conveniently ignore it and cling to her claims. "Hee, maybe I can bring out your softer side." Adding fuel to the fire, she leaned up to her ear for another whisper. "You know what they say... When there is love, there is a way~" Usually, she would’ve just ended it there and enjoyed the ensuing reaction, but this case was special. Today, she was determined to find the melting point of a certain red-head.
The Kitsune skipped ahead of the Kage with swift steps and spun around to face her. Her usual, sly smile slowly melted into a much sweeter one, sprinkled with loving honesty. "And the tough attitude aside, you aren’t all bad, hm... Strong, bold, beautiful... You make me feel... safe." She poured her acting gifts into every line in what must’ve been her most convincing performance to date. "I could just throw myself into the cold, uncaring world, fearlessly, knowing that you will be there to catch me~" To underline the point, Hara suddenly swooned and collapsed towards Demiyah. The Kazekage had to face a split-second choice with two quite different outcomes.
{Catch her}The playful woman surrendered herself completely to the saving grasp. "My hero~" She cooed and rewarded the kindness with a little kiss.
{Let her fall}The rejected trickster hit the forest trail with a soft thud. "You know, I’m getting mixed signals here..." Came the sarcastic little mutter from the dirt.
The riddles may have been over, but the Kitsune was never done playing games.

The Kazekage frowned to herself as she kept walking, staring straight ahead, her expression still not changing. Inside, however, she was starting to boil. What the hell was going on in Kitsune's mind to make her think that Demiyah was asking her out? She'd offered lunch out of kindness, not to allude to anything more than that. To say she was growing frustrated would be an understatement. Demiyah was usually quite vocal about things. That's what had made her a good candidate for Kazekage in the first place. She didn't back down from what she thought was right or wrong. However, she knew that Hara was toying with her and figured that she'd let the woman have her little bit of fun. When Hara spoke against her hear, she appeared to relax, her eyes closing slowly as she listened. 'That's right,' she noted silently to herself, having paused in her walking for that short moment before continuing on. She smirked to herself, "I guess you'll just have to find out, won't you? If I'm so rough and tough, see if you can bring out that soft side in me. No one has ever dared to try," she said in a slightly sing-song voice. An invitation that Demiyah was sure that Hara wouldn't be able to refuse. However, the woman jumped into her path, continuing on with her monologue. Smirking just a little more, Demiyah tilted her head slightly, dropping her arms from against her chest. "That's my job, dear Kitsune. It's to make people feel safe," she started, lifting an eyebrow at the final comment before Hara was suddenly falling toward her. It was rather similar to a trust fall, it seemed. Still silently boiling with anger at the woman, she played along, catching Hara in her arms and pulling her back up to her feet. The Kazekage certainly didn't expect the small kiss that Hara placed on her lips, but she certainly was ready for it. Demiyah kissed the Konoha jounin in return, adding a little bit of... spark to her lips in the process. Knowing the full extent of her own jutsu, Demiyah pulled back a little bit, leaning a little close to Hara's lips. "You speak sweet words under the pretense of trickery, Kitsune. Unfortunately for you, you aren't the only one that can play games," she whispered lightly, red eyes locking onto Hara's. What Hara would see there would be the anger that had been bubbling up within her. There was no holding it back now. In a flash, Demiyah pushed Hara away, stepping backward a few steps. Letting a playful smile of her own appear on her features, Demiyah watched her victim carefully. "You will start to feel something akin to a tickle in your chest and stomach in a few moments. It'll slowly turn into agonizing pain and then you'll be paralyzed. I'd find a nice place to sit before you find yourself face down in the mud, Kitsune. Let this serve as a warning to you. People, especially those much stronger than you, are not your play things. Happy screaming. I think I'll take my leave now. This was fun," she said sharply, spitting with fury at the Kitsune. With her final words spoken to the Konoha jounin, she stepped around the woman, using the same power of speed that she'd used only a little while before to save the woman, and disappearing in a flash. Minimal footprints and the time it would take for Hara to recover from Demiyah's Butterflies jutsu would ensure that Hara wouldn't catch up to her. It was best that she didn't, too. If Hara did, Demiyah would not to be as... non-lethal as she had been the first time. Jutsu Used: Raiton: Chō [Butterflies]

Much to Hara’s glee, the Kazekage actually caught her and kissed back. Of course her mental alarm went off, warning that something was off with such a warm reception, but she was too curious to see where it would all lead. Getting to play with a Kage, now that was worth any price. Remaining silent, the Kitsune simply tilted her head at the words. As she looked deep into the red-haired woman’s eyes, in an instant she learned two things. One, she had just hit the prankster’s jackpot, having managed to drag a village leader to her level, where trickery was paid back with more trickery.
Two... This next one was going to hurt...
As the woman vanished, Hara lowered her gaze. A shadow covered her face. She could feel that tingling getting stronger. Beneath her breath, a small chuckle escaped into the breeze, followed by another, third... Until she slowly broke into uncontrollable giggling, like she had just gotten the punch line. Or gone mad. It was all just so hilarious... Suddenly, the laughter stopped. Clutching her gut, the woman twitched and doubled over, struggling to stay up. Her eyes shot wide open, welling up with tears. She gritted her teeth and finally collapsed onto the dirt, powerless to stop what was coming. A shrill scream pierced the forest.
After what felt like an eternity, a long one, the dark form on the forest floor finally moved. Hara wasn’t sure how long she had been laying there, hours maybe. The Kazekage really hadn’t been kidding about the whole agonizing pain thing... Against her best efforts, she had passed out from the sheer pain. And she probably wasn’t going to get any of that barbeque either... Wiping her face from tears and dirt, she weakly struggled up. Most people would’ve been angry, absolutely livid, but Hara wasn’t like most people. Slowly, an unnaturally sharp grin spread on her face. As the trickster vanished, a ghastly little whisper was left behind for only the wind to hear.
"I’ll remember this... Demiyah..."
((And so the thread ends! I had so much fun! Thank you!))
