kiyoshi hane swear "i don't believe in things like god" to god
ALIAS [kusanagi], kiyo | GENDER male | AGE fourteen | ZODIAC aquarius | ORIENTATION demisexual | BLOOD TYPE B |
VILLAGE kumogakure | RANK genin | CHAKRA AFFINITY katon (fire) | PRIMARY STYLE medical ninjutsu | CHAKRA COLOUR tea green | KEKKEI GENKAI n/a |
Being bonded to a Letter-winged kite, Kiyoshi's hair is a pale, silvery white. Though it is usually untended to, and thus messy, this often works in the teen's favor, giving him a sort of naturally windswept appearance. His eyes, like his bird's, are red, though only by coincidence. Despite his apparently pure bloodline as part of the Hane Clan's ruling family though, his eyes are normal and human, with no hint of taking on the prized bird-like appearance many Hane look up to. Moving on, hair color isn't the only thing that the bond with his bird changes. Because of it, his skin also tends to be rather pale, even in the sun, and a large black marking in the shape of a shallow 'M' rests on his upper back, spanning from shoulder blade to shoulder blade. This marking is due to the distinctive black underwing pattern on his bird, which forms a shallow 'M' when its in flight.
As for his body physique, Kiyoshi is one of those thin but strong types. Standing at 152 cm (~5'0), he's on the short side, but he attributes that to the fact his growth spurt has yet to truly kick in. Though he's slender, don't let his apparent boniness fool you: underneath that pale skin is a layer of thin, hardened muscle, a result from his days of self-training. Despite being a teen, the Hane also carries himself with an air of surprising grace, something that comes from the bird he bonded with. Other than that, he's got a few scars and bruises marking his body here and there, but then again, what sort of ninja doesn't? Also, he's pretty lightweight and sits on the scale at only 50 kg (~110 lb).
When it comes to apparel, Kiyoshi isn't really the pickiest, and his casual outfit tends to be on the sloppy side. Most of the time, though, he tends to wear clothes that are on the baggy side, be it just for hanging around in the village or for training. On the rare occasion he's not wearing standard ninja clothing, he's most often seen in poofy pants (✦), a t-shirt or sweatshirt several sizes too large, and a pair of ninja boots. Usually, however, he tends stick with normal ninja clothing, consisting of the standard black three-quarter length pants and a black jacket or a large t-shirt. His usual ninja boots remain. On a side note, he likes to keep the exposed part of his legs and ankles wrapped in bandages, and his forehead protector can be found wrapped around his upper left arm. |
At first glance, one would think that Kiyoshi Hane is a gentle person, someone with kind smiles and a benevolent soul. They couldn't have been more wrong. In a word, most people who know of him would say that Kiyoshi Hane is cruel. If you were to let them continue, they'd add that he can also be heartless, brutally honest, and, at times, creepy. None of these descriptions are wrong, but that's something that the teen himself couldn't care less about. This is because his cold disposition is purposeful, and if anything, he strives to appear cruel and unlikable towards others. His manipulative manner is reminiscent of that of a villain acting "evil" so as to bring out the best in a hero, and with that, his slight martyr complex can be seen.
Though the teen may seem like he lacks empathy, that isn't really the case. Okay maybe it is in most cases, but not always. Like all human beings, Kiyoshi has feelings, deep and true, and he feels them just as strongly as anyone else does. Though he himself thinks that he's mostly detached from any feelings but his negative ones, they're still there, as shallow as they are. They're just usually overshadowed by a sense of hatred for the world, which is what pushes him to act the way he does towards others. At the core, the teen is nothing more than a little ball of rage that's directed at both his own incompetence to let others know what he's feeling and at others for not being able to look past the surface.
Negative traits aside, most people's first assumption about Kiyoshi isn't entirely wrong. (I lied. He's a good liar, and likes to lie on a whim.) Without any negative interference, he can be a gentle person, a side to him that he rarely shows anyone. Though this side of him is rare to most, it is often seen by animals and children, existences that he deems as mostly pure and still accepting, and surprisingly enough, he's quite good with them. When it comes down to it, he's just a teen who likes quiet naps in the shade and underneath all that hateful covering, he's just someone who's a bit misunderstood. Quiet and independent by nature, he isn't one to say much and likes to rely on no one but himself. Not only that, he's observant and quite intelligent, and he typically isn't one to judge. Kiyoshi is one of those people who only respects those who prove themselves worthy of it, and his loyalty knows no bounds to those who have the courage to get past his prickly shell and win his trust.
Likes: Warm and fuzzy things, cooking, naps, solitude, thinking

Kiyoshi born during the winter, a quiet snow child. Despite his heritage as one of the members of the Hane Clan's ruling family, his eyes, red as they were, were not that of a bird's, a symbol of the family's pure blood. No, unlike his older sister, his eyes were human and normal, and this marked the beginning of any favoritism that would come in the future. Like all Hane, the newborn was taken high up into the mountains to be offered to the Hane birds, a custom that formed the bird to human bond that the clan was known for. Luckily for the boy, it was a bird of prey that finally stepped up to claim him as its partner, a small but graceful Letter-winged kite.
Growing up, Kiyoshi never had the problems his sister did. Though he was quiet, he was somewhat well-known around his classmates, and his free spirit and easy smile attracted many students to his side. He grew at the same pace as the rest of the academy kids and learned things at a normal, if not quicker, pace. That didn't exactly make him a genius by standards, but he was still usually one step above the rest, and he was quick to pick up the academy's teachings. Despite his high marks and many friendships, the boy soon gained a habit of ditching his classes, something that his parents often scolded him for.
With the passing of his sister's incident and her subsequent meekness, Kiyoshi's bad behavior and truancy began being compared to Hitomi's obedience, and as this went on, the younger's disposition gradually became worse and worse. It continued to do so until one day, when a friend unknowingly compared him to his sister, he snapped, and in a flurry of hurt and anger, harsh words were exchanged. Though both boys had only said the things they did in the heat of the moment, the incident left a huge gash in the young Hane's heart. With the other boy's claim that the two were only friends because Kiyoshi was charismatic and got high marks, the now pale-haired boy withdrew from his classmates. He began to test each one of them, save his sister, with brutally honest words. Needless to say, he lost any and all friends he had, but surprisingly enough, that fact satisfied him. It only proved that he was right in thinking bonds like friendship were nothing more than shallow appearances, and with that belief, he grew colder, crueler.
He became something of a problem child, but at the same time, he wasn't quite one either. Rebellious and independent, he began to shoulder his own burdens in life and walked his own path, away from everyone else. Doing things at his own pace got him in lots of trouble, but nothing ever came of it because he was able to keep his marks as high as before. Though his truancy became less severe, he took to coming late to his classes or just napping in them. Loneliness and hatred marked his days, and he started to make a game of getting people to hate him. With a charming smile, he'd first disarm them with a guise of kindness, and then once they'd let their guard down, he'd strike with harsh words and cruel betrayals.
Kiyoshi's family life wasn't much better. Since he was only the second child, and not the heir, he was often less favored by his father, who played favorites. The fact that he didn't have the ruling family's pure bird eyes only made him even less favored by the head of the family. His mother, whom could only stand by her husband's decisions, could only do the same. As the years went by and the boy's behavior grew worse, he soon became known as a disgrace to the family. However, his contrasting skills and academic marks, a result of long days of self-teaching and training, seemed to offset this, though not by much.
This marks the beginning of a story called the present, as well as the uncertain future that's bound to follow. | ooc info
