Pink-haired and beautiful would be two words that come to mind when thinking of Kotone. With a fair skin tone, light pink hair and large, reddish eyes, Kotone is an eye-catching girl, credit to her shocking features. Often described as looking quite a bit like her mother, Kotone's face features a pointed, strong jawline, a slightly upturned nose and light pink lips. Messy bangs fall in to her eyes and her thick hair is often tied back in to two pigtails.
She wears simple clothing, preferring to wear a loose, off the shoulder, short-sleeved shirts with shorts underneath. She wears ninja boots and ties her forehead protector on her arm. She often wears a scarf as well, though she rarely wears it during fights as it is an inconvenience. |
DEDICATED Loyal to a fault, she shows deep commitment to the shinobi lifestyle. Her devotion is almost obsessive; she is willing to suffer greatly for her profession. Her preoccupation stems from her idolization of her mother, who was once a great shinobi. She believes that she is closest to her mother when she fights for the same cause as she once did. Her resolution in her love for Sunagakure and the ninja and civilians within it is unmatched by most.
GENTLE Believing that no one should suffer the way she once did, Kotone shows great tenderness when dealing with others. Even described as sweet, she has an extremely soft heart and hates to see anyone in pain.
CAREFUL She hates to make mistakes and errors: Kotone is one to double and triple check everything for the sake of safety. On top of this, she is often looking for threats around her. She is slightly paranoid in the sense that she believes danger is everywhere. She often jumps on contact if she does not expect it.
ABSENTMINDED Believing that as a sufferer in the real world, she should not suffer anywhere else, Kotone often seems to be lost in her own fantasy world. A hopeful person by nature, she is always speculating about the future, showing an idealistic side. She is highly inspired by nature, finding inspiration in the regeneration of the earth. She feels that if nature is willing to pick itself back up every year and repair it's barren surface, then people should be willing to do so as well.
SECRETIVE Born from years of concealing slashes and puncture marks, Kotone is prone to hiding things from others. It has become second nature for her to not reveal anything more than what is necessary and she tries to keep personal matters kept personal. She has trouble talking about her feelings because of this and revealing personal information is an extremely difficult thing for Kotone to do.
QUIET Naturally introverted, Kotone rarely speaks unless spoken to directly. In large groups, she is often lost in the back, not speaking nor communicating unless she deems it important. She can be more outspoken when directly speaking to one person, but she still retains a very tranquil demeanor.
MISGUIDED Kotone does not understand a great many things. She doesn't properly understand self worth or how she should be treated in relationships. She doesn't know how to communicate well with others and at worst, she has trouble registering and dealing with different feelings.

The path that led Kotone to total misguidedness has been a long and winding one. Born under a summer moon, Kotone became the unfortunate member of an small family on July 9. Her father was a slightly insane medical shinobi of Sunagakure; her mother possessed the rare Scorch Release. Her mother had died giving birth to Kotone, leaving her under the care of her father.
Kotone's father was the greatest shaping factor in her character. Believing that the Scorch release would be passed down genetically to Kotone, he performed painful experiments on his own daughter, hoping to harness the power of the deadly Scorch release. On top of this, he exhibited bitterness toward his daughter because of the death of his beloved wife. His bitterness was so great that he would perform painful experiments as punishments and was prone to flying in to a rage when reminded of his wife.
However these experiments were all in vain. It was discovered much later that she did not have the Scorch Release. Experiments on her chakra systems, network and their development had ruined her chakra control, making it very difficult for her to utilize simple E-Ranked ninjutsu. After being placed in to a genin squad, she was mainly trained in Taijutsu and Bukijutsu to work around this problem. People assumed that she was merely untalented with chakra control - which they found strange, as her father was a medical shinobi - but they never questioned it. After being put on a genin team, she learned how to walk on water and climb trees with difficulty.
After her father learned that she did not have the Scorch Release, their relationship became uncomfortable. Kotone was deeply afraid of her father and her father was unsure of how to treat his daughter. He had always justified abuse with the excuse of experimentation, but this opportunity had been taken away from him and he had no idea how to act around his daughter. This problem was later remedied: Kotone moved out at age fifteen. An act of terror as opposed to an act of independence, Kotone found that living with her father was simply too threatening and preferred to live alone. | ooc info
