i'm not empty and all i loved, i loved alone Notes: I feel reassured <3 Also, randomly decided the caves they're visiting would be outside of the village, sorry D: And Hitomi is more accurate than she knows, lolTagged: Hitomi HaneWords: 459 | Maybe for today, he would think of Hitomi as a child. Despite being a child himself, Kiyoshi had always liked younger children, or well, the ones who had yet to have their innocence tainted anyway, and he always made sure to save any gentleness left in his body for them. With the rain water weighing down her clothes and hair, his sister looked frighteningly small and fragile—a child he could relax around and let his gentle nature shine through.
But even so, this was Hitomi. He couldn't let his guard down completely, not even if he wanted to. Okay, maybe that was lie; he didn't want her to draw any closer than she had already. To him, the two's relationship was symbolized by a moth being drawn to an open flame, and he was the latter. This was fitting, anyhow, since his chakra nature was fire, but regardless, he felt Hitomi was only playing with fire (darn it, maybe he shouldn't have thought about his chakra nature) whenever she approached him.
At the mention of caves, he kept his face tactfully blank so as not to alert the other Genin about how integral they were to his life. ...Well... He could give up a cave or two. Anyway, it wasn't like he could claim them, since he wasn't skilled enough in Fuuinjutsu to seal them off. Though they were his secret training grounds (especially when he felt he couldn't fit in at the Island Turtle) as well his makeshift homes (definitely more cozy than his room at the Hane Clan house), they weren't his to keep and he always had to surrender himself to the fact that they would never be permanent. In a way, that made them all the more appealing, but at the same time, it filled him with a vague sense of loss.
It was like every other thing in his life: he always felt two-sided about everything, and for every bit of nonchalance he felt, it was matched by a familiar sense of melancholy that followed his head like a small, personal rain cloud.
Giving his head a good shake in an attempt dislodge some of the water out of his hair and fluff it out again, he ignored the fact that his actions seemed rather... dog-like, and that it'd be mostly useless when water was still constantly wetting his hair down. He sighed, and ran his hand through his now annoyingly stringy hair instead to comb it out of his face. His noncommittal grunt of response was lost in the sound of rain hitting the pavement so he simply shrugged instead, to let his companion know that he had heard. Then he walked, silently trailing behind his older sister towards the village entrance. |

522 works for me, no worries! hope you don't mind i moved it along so they're more or less there- feel free to continue moving them around/closer. aww these two ;; I'M SEARCHING FOR A PARADISE Her brother didn’t say anything, or at least nothing Hitomi could hear over the downpour as she huddled into her robe, trying to keep what little warmth she created inwards. As fiercely as Hitomi wanted to turn around to see if Kiyoshi followed in her footsteps, she knew that would only make things worse between them. If she trusted her brother like she so claimed to, like she so wanted to inside of her heart, then her actions needed to echo that feeling. Turning around to see if Kiyoshi trailed after her like a slave to master was just that- a higher and lower rank doing their duty- while Hitomi wanted Kiyoshi to come with her because he wanted it, not because she asked. Begged.
Oh, but emotions were a funny thing and the kunoichi ran paranoid at best with her own, doubting herself, suspicious and judgmental of others. And how Hitomi longed to flick back one half second of a glance to see if her otōto kept to his word. How she wanted the rain to cease for a moment to hear his footfall in the puddles or for the namesake clouds and mists of Kumogakure to evaporate so the sun could shine and Hitomi could watch for Kiyoshi’s shadow out of the corner of her eyes.
Instead, the girl had nothing but faith to rely on and as she walked. The village’s dense building and winding stairs grew sparse and Hitomi found it easier to trust her brother the more they traveled. In her heart she knew. Or she was a bigger fool than before, a bigger fool than what Kiyoshi and her fellow genin made her out to be.
The rain continued as Hitomi hiked, increasing in intensity for a few moments here and there before leveling off to a steady downpour. It was clear by the blackness around them that the tempest’s reign wouldn’t be over quickly, making Hitomi even more positive that no one else would be in the cave. When they reached the gate of the village, Hitomi waving politely to the guard, she finally stopped and turned around. Her breath caught in her throat.
“It’s only another ten minutes of walking or so,” she explained, hoping Kiyoshi didn’t think she was treating him like a child. He’d probably been out to the tunnels before either by foot or wing and most likely knew this information. By saying this, however, Hitomi could use it as an excuse to see if he was there. “But, ah, I’m sure you know that.”
She turned away from him quickly, not waiting for Kiyoshi to answer and not allowing him to see the blush crawling at her ears. For the rest of the trip Hitomi didn’t say anything, hunching her head down from the wet. In front of them now loomed the large crags surrounding Kumo and between the foliage it was clear that a path worked from the main trail into the woods, the mountain’s base, and finally to the short climb to the cave Hitomi talked about.
“Mind taking the lead for a bit?” Hitomi asked, shivering against the cold rain.

i'm not empty and all i loved, i loved alone Notes: No worries, I don't mind~ And mm'kay! ikr ;u; But maa, you're writing is so pretty omg Tagged: Hitomi HaneWords: 832 | Silence and the sound of rainfall reigned the space between Kiyoshi and his sister. So much space. A vague thought quietly drifted through his head at the thought of the space. "The distance to you was zero," it was a line he thought he'd read somewhere before. Probably from a romance novel, wherever the hell that came from.
If the space between you and I were to become zero... What would happen then? He toyed with the thought. It seemed it was something his sister really wanted, if the hand on his shoulder before was anything to go by, but he didn't think he himself did. Being so close was too intimate for him, and that was something only very special people could do. That wasn't to say that his sister wasn't special, of course, but she just... wasn't the one.
Well... At least not yet. And he wasn't thinking about romance at all, nope. He had already decided that things like love and romance were out of his grasp, and it was concept he thought would escape him forever. What the hell did "to love and be loved" even mean? While thinking that, he realized that they were moving through the gates of the village, and like his sister, he waved politely to the fellow standing guard.
But yeah, that was... probably beyond the point. Wordlessly following the trail of ripples his sister left in the various tiny puddles that were scattered from here to there, he let his mind wander (it wasn't like he had anything else to do, anyway). He would probably stay away from home after this for a while. It would be, in his own way, the payment he collected for spending so much time with his sister today. In the end though, he was just widening the gap that had started to close; it was just easier to think of it in a way that he could justify things.
Cold, wet ears picked up the sound of a girl's voice, and he almost dispensed one of his softer smiles before realizing it was just his sister (yes, just) and flattened it to the smile she was so familiar with. For a second, he questioned her actions, the sharpness of the cold covering his body making his question clearer all the more clearer. Had she really had to ask that, if she already "knew that he knew that"? Hmm. He'd just put it on the tab then. Maybe. He didn't like to be monitored, as he was sure Hitomi was doing.
Keeping silent all the while, he finally took lead upon his sister's request. For a moment, he simply stared at the cliffs jutting out into the cloud-filled sky. He was in familiar territory now, his territory. Or well, not really his but... His. Anything away from "home" and maybe even the village was what he liked to call his territory. He familiarized himself with it, though since he was a mere Genin, he'd limited himself to a certain radius. He couldn't travel that far away, after all. Not when he was still fourteen. Even so, he made it his goal to travel around the country one day and just... drift, as free as the clouds that his village was named after.
The trek through the forest was a silent one, at least for the younger of the Hane siblings. It wasn't surprising; after all, what did he usually have to say to his sister anyway? He knew he couldn't say any words she might want (or need) him to say. Thankful for the boots that covered his feet (wet leaves against skin wasn't the most pleasant of experiences, after all) as well as the fact he'd decided to stick to ninja robes that day, he didn't have much trouble making his way through the relatively clear path. The trees did catch some of the rain that fell on him, though that also meant that if he got hit by larger drops that had accumulated on the leaves, he'd be in for more than just a flinch of surprise.
Once he'd made it past the stretch of forest and was finally back on solid, stone ground, he paused his journey to give a quick glance back. He wasn't checking if his sister was alright, not at all. Just surveying the length of the path they'd traveled. Or at least, that was what he told himself. Upon seeing that his sister had made it out okay by his standards though (how wouldn't she though, she was a kunoichi, next head of the prided Hane Clan, he gave a mock bow and gestured with his arms out to the path they would climb. Though he stayed wordless, he assumed that his sister would at least understand his message: it was up to her which way she wanted to explore, and which cave or tunnel she wanted to stick to. He himself wasn't revealing anything if he could help it. |

581 Sorry for the dely and stuff and yeah. But we have a plan now <3I'M SEARCHING FOR A PARADISE Hitomi lingered for a moment, fidgeting with her saturated robe as a wish that she’d worn her normal training attire over her lounging wear flooded her head. But Hitomi wouldn’t complain, at least not verbally, not only would that then sour the air between her and Kiyoshi, it would probably make him scold her in his passive aggressive way again. A leader doesn’t complain, they make do. And so that’s what Hitomi did- she made do. After tightening her robes, drawing the clothing closer around her skin as the wet material fought against the movement, Hitomi jogged after her brother. He hadn’t waited. She never expected him to.
Words clung on Hitomi’s lips, hanging underneath her teeth, ready to say something but hiding from the rain and Kiyoshi’s inevitable silence in return. Conversation would not happen on this walk, the Hane girl had known that since the moment she pleaded with her brother to join her in the first place. What could they talk about anyways? The weather? How training was going? They were strangers in their conversations, pecking at it timidly, knowing it was more obligatory chatter than anything else.
She sighed deeply, body deflating as the small patters of rain danced on her shoulders. She couldn’t even bring herself up to start that mundane conversation knowing that Kiyoshi would resent it and Hitomi would be hurt by his silence. Instead, the kunoichi plodded along a few steps behind him, a dutiful sister to him, because out here they were anything. Rank didn’t matter, clan didn’t matter, just the two teenagers together as siblings.
When Kiyoshi turned around to check back on her, Hitomi smiled at him, picking up her pace to stop next to him. It never occurred to the hopefully little genin that her brother was looking at something else or turning around for any other reason than to make sure she was okay. Hadn’t she done that to him earlier as well? Rocks crunched under her sandals as she toyed with a larger pebble, nudging it along forward as she waited for Kiyoshi to say something.
“A-a bow?” Hitomi muttered, not without a flicker of annoyance (something that rarely tinted her words) as a raised eyebrow went unseen under her eye covering. The girl stiffened under her robes, shaking her head, sad or embarrassed by the act, it was hard to tell. She’d been trying so hard this whole time and this was her reward?
The older Hane didn’t say anything else she hiked past him, pointing farther inland as she walked. How could Kiyoshi still tug her around like this? Still treat her like she was higher than she really was? Well- there was a pause in Hitomi’s step as she made a sudden turn to the right- she was higher ranked…but Kiyoshi didn’t need to rehash that every five seconds, not when it bothered him so much.
Something whined.
Yes! That was exactly her point! Hitomi ranted to herself, oblivious to anything else as she wrapped herself in her own emotions. He hated the ranks, how their rather treated them differently, how it was always about the Hane, the clan, and while Hitomi tried to ignore it around him, Kiyoshi kept dragging it behind him like a dead horse.
The whine increased.
What could she do if he didn’t want to move past that?
Wh- Hitomi stopped suddenly, freezing as she snapped her head to the source of the whining.
“What is that?”

i'm not empty and all i loved, i loved alone Notes: Sorry for the delay here too orz Creature reference here. Most likely an Abert's squirrel, since fox squirrels aren't actually "foxsquirrels" and...yeah... orz Tagged: Hitomi HaneWords: 420 | For one reason or another, Kiyoshi detected a hint of irritation in his sister's stammer, which sent another jolt of mixed feelings through him. Mostly, he wasa confused: he hadn't done anything purposeful to garner a rare show of annoyance from his sister. However, at the same time, a blot of smugness colored his feelings, because he had accomplished his goal after all. It wasn't often that he managed to rile Hitomi into annoyance, and that in itself was rather satisfying.
Maybe it had been the bow. To be honest, Kiyoshi hadn't meant for it to be anything special; he just wanted an excuse not to break the silence. Why Hitomi had been provoked by this was easy to guess, but Kiyoshi couldn't help but shake his head. If it had been any other person—say one of her teammates—his sister wouldn't have found it so offensive. Maybe she was the one who was overly sensitive of their roles in this relationship, though of course, the younger Hane wasn't entirely innocent either.
As the brunette in front of him marched forwards, Kiyoshi's ears picked a small whine. The boy came to a stop and listened closely. When nothing came, he hesitantly began to follow his sister up the path she'd picked out. Only to freeze again when another whine sounded, louder than the first. Slowly turning towards the source of the sound, he found a small... squirrel-like creature trapped under a boulder that came up to his waist. The rodent-like creature was larger than his hand and had surprisingly long ears for a "squirrel." The majority of its fur was what looked like an orange-brown in color. Darker stripes ran up and down its body, and he could see blue-green eyes glaring back at him, filled with pain and fear.
"Squirrel," he barked almost jokingly in answer, as if either of the Hane siblings was a dog ready to bolt. Wordlessly, the gray-haired teen slowly approached the trapped creature. The rock it lay under was off to the side of the path. "Well?" he asked, as he crouched a little ways away from the poor squirrel. It was his way of asking her if she wanted to get it out or not, though he was certain he already knew the answer. Apparently, the squirrel didn't, since it only snarled at him and opened its mouth wide to show off sharp fangs. Huh, not so squirrelly after all. "What say you, princess?" he asked, glancing back at said girl questioningly. |

445 notes: Got my internet back, yay! And that squirrel fox...it's too cute. I'M SEARCHING FOR A PARADISE Cautiously Hitomi stepped forward to the pitiful whine, standing a few feet away from her brother. Any signs of her earlier spark of annoyance seemed to vanish as quickly as it came, her attention now directed to the animal in front of her. Hitomi’s heart lurched at the sight of the poor thing pinned halfway underneath a large rock. And before she could even stop herself, her hand flew up to her mouth, covering the ‘O’ shaped expression as she made a small squeak of sympathy. Such a show of emotions wasn’t the shinobi way, Hitomi knew that, but she was a bleeding heart for anything, especially things in pain. It’s why she would never be able to cut it as a medical nin- the older Hane would become too distraught to do her job properly.
The creature…fox? Squirrel? A rodent? Hitomi lowered her hand, eyebrows furrowed harshly behind her mask. She didn’t know what it was but it was beautiful save for the fear and pain flaring in its little eyes. And when Kiyoshi suddenly spoke, Hitomi nearly jumped out of her skin, so put on edge she was about seeing the little creature buried underneath the boulder. She couldn’t seem to drag her gaze anywhere but the squirrel, anywhere but the area where his body pressed down into the ground, limbs trapped under an object that was no doubt squishing it to death.
Hitomi drew a shaky breath, physically trying to pull herself away from such morbid thoughts. Kiyoshi, oddly enough, helped with that, his voice acting as an anchor to the girl lost in emotions at the sight of one small animal hurt. She would need to grow stronger Hitomi realized as she turned to her brother. “We-we need to help it,” she nodded, trying to give her voice a solidness to it so it would not betray her.
“If we get the rock off it do you think you can heal it?” she questioned, squatting down to get a better look at the creature. Between the snarls and barred teeth it would be hard to remove the rock without earning a few nips themselves. That and Hitomi had a good feeling the creature would struggle if they moved closer, putting more stress on its body and its health in more danger.
All of this she voiced to Kiyoshi.
“What do you think? If we move the animal it will flail and fight but if I,” she looked over at him, not sure if her idea would count as cruel or not in the circumstance, “If I paralyzed it and then we moved the rock out and you healed it…would that work?”

i'm not empty and all i loved, i loved alone Notes: Glad you're back! <3 Here's to Kiyo unknowingly opening up cry Tagged: Hitomi HaneWords: 634 | Kiyoshi raised an eyebrow at his sister's reactions. Though he could definitely feel for the fox-squirrel... Who was the frightened one here, his sister, or the bright-furred animal? For a second, Hitomi became the bird that she was, frantic and jumpy. He could almost see it, really, her wings beating frantically as her chest heaved with gasps, the heart that was no doubt within that small chest beating a mile a minute. ...Of course, Hitomi wasn't really a bird, however, and even if she was, she was human now. But even so, despite the fact he couldn't see her eyes, he could still feel it, her agitation. He almost shook his head at that. Though being sensitive and empathetic might get a civilian through life right, a shinobi would get nowhere with useless sentiments. A note was filed to the back of his mind, reminding him to see if he could do anything about that sooner or later. How else would she make it out of the Chuunin Exams? (He had a feeling he himself wouldn't be able to qualify due to his lack of teammates, but... He'd just ride his hopes out on his sister then, even if he wouldn't admit it aloud.)
As the girl squatted down besides him to get a closer look at the struggling creature, Kiyoshi almost sighed. He wouldn't move, for fear of agitating the squirrel.. thing even more than the mere human presence seemed to do. The brunet's suggestions weren't that bad and were on the right track, but the younger Hane was far less naive to believe that a simple paralyzing jutsu would do the trick. He studied the creature, which only growled some more and snapped its teeth, twisting its head wildly in a vain attempt to free itself. In a way, the gray-haired teen could understand how the little guy was feeling. Fear, anger, don't touch me. Yes, he knew those feelings well, and if Hitomi thought that binding a creature that was as crazy with those feelings as this one was would help, then it probably wouldn't turn out well. If anything, the creature might only hate them more.
"Your point is valid," he began, letting his eyes dim. If she realized, maybe she would learn a thing or two about him. "But how would you think the little guy would feel? If you were angry and scared and in pain, would you want to be binded up even if it was what's best for you?" It was a rhetorical question, and he answered it himself without waiting for a reply. "Of course not. That would be traumatizing, and what little trust we might've earned from it will be gone. With that, you can say bye to trying to treat it." He shook his head with a sigh, smiling wearily. "Besides that, I don't have the skill to heal him completely, even if I wanted to. A Genin can only do so much. The best I could do is patch it up with bandages and maybe splints or something..." Another shake of the head. "Think for a moment, princess, what would you do to win someone or something's trust?"
The boy already knew the answer; one had to earn trust and show that there was nothing to be scared of. He or she had to stay calm and forgiving even if he or she was lashed at, and it would hurt, but it would only be a reflection of the... coaxed one's hurt. In truth, Hitomi already did that with himself, but it was a good chance for him to draw parallels and have her see just what she was doing and how to deal with others besides himself without hurting them. He was trying to teach her how not to be Kiyoshi. |

462 wow....way to kill me with that post unggg but it was so hard and good to read. These two break my heart so much! I'M SEARCHING FOR A PARADISE She feared the squirrel would hurt itself more the longer the Hane siblings stared at it, figuring out how to handle this small emergency. Would the animal be more at ease if she was in her bird form, Hitomi wondered. Her kestrel form was one of the smaller birds and certainly not an intimidating form like an eagle or hawk. But, she mentally slapped herself, if this creature was more squirrel (or rodent) than fox then the sight of a bird of prey would scare it half to death. And what could a bird do with a large rock? She wouldn't be able to move it then. In fact, her bird form was a horrible idea and Hitomi’s only saving grace was that she hadn’t voiced that idea to Kiyoshi.
Biting the inside of her cheek, Hitomi backed away from the terrified creature, squat walking backwards before standing up again. She wanted to wait for Kiyoshi’s suggestion before preparing the jutsu that would paralyze the squirrel. Hitomi nodded eagerly as he started to talk, smiling a bit at the words. It was almost praise, or rather he wasn’t going against her idea which is what he normally did- at least in Hitomi's eyes. But then she saw his ruby orbs and her heart fell.
Hitomi could only listen mutely as her brother spoke, her face flushing like a robin’s chest. Embarrassed by her idea as soon as Kiyoshi pointed out its flaws, Hitomi turned her head away from him. He was right of course; if she paralyzed the squirrel then it would only give it more reasons to hate them. “I-“ Hitomi started, cutting herself off before an apology spilled out. Kiyoshi wouldn’t appreciate if she verbally doubted herself via a sorry. “Good point.”
Sighing heavily, struggling to let go of her pride, Hitomi plopped herself down on the ground. She adjusted herself so her legs rested next to her, robe covering most of her skin while her bandages covered the rest. The fabric was still wet from the rain, a rain that Hitomi had forgotten all about during the squirrel fiasco. Perhaps the weather had stopped.
“How do I earn something’s trust?” she parroted his question, now looking at him, still blushing from earlier. “I’m patient and I let it get used to me. Perhaps if we wait for the squirrel to settle and let it get used to our scent and calm down it may let us get closer.”
“We show it love- patience, love, that’s how I try to get trust.”
Kiyoshi should’ve known that by now.
The genin turned her attention back to the distressed animal, heart flaring in pain again at the sight. “But how long do you wait when you know that something is in pain?”

i'm not empty and all i loved, i loved alone Notes: Sorry this is so late! Totally didn't take that last bit from Nausicaa... But yesss pain. Tagged: Hitomi HaneWords: 539 | It seemed that before had had known it, the rain had slowed to a light sprinkle, it's pounding heaviness gone from his head and shoulders. Not that he could really feel it, being as wet and cold as he was, but as he watched his sister sit he could see it in the air, tiny pale droplets drifting down like snow in summer. There was no use wiping his face off to feel the tiny pricks of cold the sprinkle would bring, but he imagined it anyway;: tiny pieces ice melting against his warm (or well, cold now) cheeks.
Ignoring the flush that crawled into Hitomi's face, he only listened, never moving from his spot. Ruby eyes glanced back at the struggling squirrel, which had paused its struggle to pant tiredly, luminous blue-green eyes pinned to the two humans that were no doubt threatening it. A minute later and it resumed its hopeless struggle, thrashing whatever free body parts it had in an attempt to extricate itself.
"Patience isn't always the answer," he murmured, glancing at his sister. "Not even you could wait for eternity." The words came soft, a mere stating of the fact. With it came the flash of a guileless smile, rare as a blue moon, a smile that disappeared behind one that she was more familiar with. He knew that he was talking about more than just the squirrel. They both were, and they knew it.
"And even if you could, what would it mean?" he asked, a little world-weary. "Never expect something that wasn't even yours to come to you just because you waited." Was he saying that for himself too? He didn't know anymore, the creature under the rock still needed to be saved, and just sitting there wasn't going to help it any. If anything, it would only make the situation worse. They were probably stressing the thing out with their presences, torturing it with the uncertainty of whether they were allies or foes.
"If the doors are all closed, go for the window," he offered. "Even if it means jumping from the highest floor." He probably had no idea what he was saying, but that didn't quite matter anymore. Without a second to lose, he stretched a hand out, holding out his index finger to the bright-eyed creature. Bright eyes. Maybe he'd call it Bright Eyes for now. As predicted, its jaws snapped open, little teeth flashing before they sank into pale flesh, grabbing onto it like it was a lifeline. And Kiyoshi just let it, without so much of as a flinch. "Nothing to fear.." he murmured, smiling as he felt the rumble of a growl against his finger. This was when you waited, and in a way, it was what his sister lacked.
She was a little too distant to be successful, always too hesitant. Maybe a little afraid of hurt, even, though he did give her a few kudos for coming back for more. Fierceness needed fierceness to combat it, and Hitomi was far too gentle for that, at least not yet. He couldn't say anything about the near future, but for now, he couldn't say. It was hard to trust someone who didn't understand his silence anyway. |

FRAGILE BIRD When she sleeps there is a fever dream, yeah. It brings a night terror to harm this fragile bird. She speaks in tongues. her words they come undone, yeah. And with a wayward mind she struggles through the night. | T here the heiress to the proud Hane Clan sat, her robe and linens soaking up water from the puddle ridden ground, mud smearing itself against her underside. Hitomi hardly noticed the mess, it wasn’t a time to be proper, she wasn’t doing a festival or official business- she was hanging out with her otōto. In a shallow, twisted way, it was how they played together as young children, without care, without boundaries, teams, or hierarchy. But reality came in the form of cold muck chilling her bonds with an even colder brother chilling her heart. Her eyes fell to the trapped squirrel, wishing she could look away but knowing that was not the way of a shinobi. Even though both humans were relatively still, Hitomi far and now sitting in a less hostile stance, the creature continued its insane struggling with the rock. Pinned like the animal was, Hitomi didn’t doubt that the squirrel suffered from something broken or crushed by the accident. All she wanted to do was reach out and save the creature and her earlier plan flared again in her head. Kiyoshi was right, paralyzing it would make it hate them, but once paralyzed they could heal it or bring it to someone who could save the creature. It would never forgive them, it would never love them, but they would have saved it.And wasn’t that the greatest sign of love? Self-sacrifice? Hitomi would never get to love that creature and it would never let her near it again, but it would be well enough to live another day. The parallels between animal and siblings left the older Hane with a twisted feeling in her gut. Kiyoshi may dislike her for the rest of their lives, he may come to hate her for reasons she didn’t know or couldn’t understand, but he was leaving her with few other options then to do something he wouldn’t like just to take care of him. He was her little brother, her once best friend. Hitomi would do anything to help. But before Hitomi could voice her change in plans, Kiyoshi was already talking, moving next to the creature. One day Kiyoshi would make his sister cry. Perhaps that day would be the best of his life. Hitomi’s eyes burned as she stood up, watching as the squirrel firmly planted its mouth around Kiyoshi’s fingers. As the animal’s fangs sunk into her brother’s flesh Hitomi’s felt as if she too received the wound, her heart burning with loss, resentment, and frustration.“It is up to the creature to come back,” Hitomi finally replied, walking over to the pair as she looked down at the rock pinning the squirrel. Now with its attentions on Kiyoshi, mind and body firmly set on the boy, Hitomi could try and remove the rock without it struggling against her. But she would have to be quick as to be slow with this process would risk injury to the animal. Flooding her arms and hands with chakra, Hitomi positioned herself beside her brother, grabbing the rock and squaring her stance.
She was no Taijutsu user- no Hane was- but she still had the painfully acute chakra control of her people, allowing her to strengthen muscles and preform feats that no five foot one girl could normally. “I don’t expect it to, I don’t deserve it to, it left for a reason,” she grunted as she pulled up the boulder, vines bulging in her arms. Hitomi’s sweat mingled with the drops of rain on her body.“But if I have the ability to wait and show it as much love as I can,” her voice strained as the rock started to lift up, just enough for Kiyoshi to pull the creature out if he was fast. “I will always wait.”“An eternity, otōto” She could feel the tears well now but they did not fall.648 pain. boat loads of pain. |
