The largest of his scars is a blade wound located at his right shoulder and stretches to his elbow.

personality
Zenmaru is straight to the point He prefers honesty rather than sugarcoating the truth. If you give him your word, he expects you to keep it. He will also keep his word when he gives it for better or worse. Unlike others in his clan, he is patient and dutiful. There is a lot to say about his integrity concerning his clan. He believes that the clan should uphold their traditions, but start becoming less conservative concerning their views of others.
His responsibility knows no bounds. Zenmaru would run himself into the ground if it required him to accomplish a given assignment Loyalty is a big part of who he is. He is a devout follower of leadership and is determined to ensure his clan's survival. He is a very calm individual, but will become when he sees a need. Though he is an introvert and is mild mannered, it isn't an excuse to attempt to walk over him. When other's try to under mind his position he would quickly put him or his in their place.
He is well rounded as far as knowledge is concerned. When discovering a new concept, he will test the concepts to see if they fit his liking. Because his abstract way of thinking, he may alter the way he fights to give him an advantage. He doesn't liked to study a single area in particular, but likes to gather various information. This can range from fighting techniques to excavating ruins.
Zenmaru doesn't like liars or oath breakers. He sees them as unfit beings that don't even need to grace his presence. Once you lose his trust, it is hard to gain it back. He tries to treat others with the same respect they treat him. He demands the respect for his position as any other in a leadership role would. His determination to enforce and uphold order is strict.
When others disagree with his stance, he will not easily promote an idea that isn't his unless he feels it betters himself or the clan. In fact, he can be very stubborn and unmovable once he takes a stance on something. Zenamaru can be quite unintentionally, harsh to others. He is insensitive to others emotions, but it's mostly due to the fact that he says what needs to be said.

It is rare, but there may be a time or two where he would over envelop task or projects that he can't deliver on.
When around others, he would seem laid back and uncaring. He doesn't mind the occasional drunken brawl or the presence of clansmen and friends. Though, Zenmaru would need some alone time to gather himself and can be easily drained when being around a hoard of people for long periods of time. He's not much of a talker, but showing by example.
history
Born in in the deserts of Netsu no Kuni to Daru and Ishla, Zenmaru became came through of the Ryuketsu clan bloodline. Zenmaru had grown up to know combat. The very thing that drove his clan, violence, was what he was taught and loved. Though, he wanted something more than violence, but knowledge. He constantly watched his clansmen and clanswomen train and fight. With each strike and movement, he carefully analyzed each the best he could. Each clansmen had their own movements, but some he was taught a a young age and found ways to improve his own skills
Being the Tsuruginoō's son, had many disadvantages. Some thought that he had to be an astounding warrior that rivaled any others at his youthful age. Other's thought that he was just a spoiled brat. That was most of his early childhood. He let the talk of the other clansmen get to him. Though, he used what they said to make him stronger. Zenmaru knew that he was different from the other kids. They all had an expectation and goals to keep that failing to meet those marks was the ultimate dishonor.
The Koinu [youngest clan members] were always the ones to usher in a new generation of warriors. The older generation would always hound down on the younger to push them beyond their limits. His father was especially hard on him. Watching from a distance, his family would seem pretty average. Their status made it difficult for them to be average or anywhere close to it. Having guards around majority of the day got pretty annoying. They always would pester him about standing upright and never slouching.
His father, having noticed his interest in the way the world was, would give him scrolls to read and to study. Zenmaru learned a lot about the history of the clan and how vast they used to be. He also learned of the days before the Ryuketsu clan was developed into a clan. The knowledge and information he read caused him to have a greater thirst for the outside world. To gain more knowledge, he would have to become stronger.
The time that wasn't spent reading, had been spent training his body. Daru would train Zenmaru harshly. Little mercy was shown to Zenmaru when training. Ishla, his mother, being a strong and gentle woman, even asked Daru to not push him so hard. Daru's response would always be, "My successor should not be weak prey." The training was not in vain. Eventually, Zenmaru had become stronger than the other Koinu at the age of ten. The Koinu would have wrestling matches to see who the strongest was and more than often Zenmaru won. The other warriors in the clan also played a major role in his development. They trained all of the Koinu how to use chakra and their elemental natures.
At the age of thirteen, Zenmaru was already a capable warrior. Like all clansmen at this age, it was time to go through the clan's rite of passage. The Ketsueki Watari tested your strength of a warrior, but things were different this time around. Upon utilizing chakra, the Ketsueki Watari would have been easier. Though, he was forbidden to use chakra. This was a task that he took with pride. After the rite, he knew that he would be given a new name. He was pretty eager to lose his Koinu name, Kazuki, to gain his true warrior name.
When the rite started, he was to choose his weapon. The weapon he picked was one that he knew too well. A large blade that stood taller than his height of 5'4", was now rested upon his shoulders. His "proctors" gave him his supplies and he was dropped off miles from the clan compound. The rite had begun his transformation to manhood.
At the end of the Ketsueki Watari, he made his way to the compound. He stood at the entrance of the compound with his blade over his shoulder and two huge white tiger heads hanging from his back. Upon returning to the compound, he knelt on his knees in front of the clan leader. The man who had raised him and trained him from birth, his father. A big feast was thrown and he was given his warrior name of Zenmaru.
It has been eleven years since his Ketsueki Watari, and now he is in a position of power. Due to his prowess in combat and strategic way of thinking, he worked his way up to the rank of Nisshoku by the age of twenty two. A sight that is rare in the clan. Originally, they thought that Daru, his father had appointed him, but it was the clan's elders known as the Kishikai.
His father had become weaker after having been sickly for the past few years and his mother had taken a temporary seat as the Ken'nojoō. Since Ishla had attained the rank of Nisshoku back in her youth and was a member of the Kishikai. The Kishikai spent almost a week in decision and they appointed Zenmaru as the reigning Tsuruginoō of the infamous Ryuketsu clan. Due to his unique swordsmanship combined with his Bakuton chakra, he was given the name Hyakurai or Hundred Thunderclaps.
