Note: This thread is a work in progress. As such, all information within this post is subject to change.
Unison Sign takes place on a large continent, several times larger than the canon world from Naruto. This continent is broken down into five major countries and two minor countries. Information on each country and the notable locations within each one will be detailed here.
Seikatsu no Kuni, the Land of Life
Currently one of the largest countries, the Land of Life is located close to the center of the continent and stretches all the way to the east coast. It hosts a perfect climate for comfortable living as far as humans are concerned and because of this the population makeup of the country is incredibly diverse. People from all around the world have gathered in the various settlements in the Land of Life and because of this there is no single culture that defines the residents.
The weather is temperate for the most part. Late in the year there is a rainy season that can last for up to two or three months. Temperatures never reach an extreme, almost always remaining fairly warm. The country is covered mostly by dense forests and lush vegetation grows almost everywhere. Lakes are in abundance and rivers that flow to and from the eastern ocean are relatively easy to find. There is some flatland but most of the country is mountainous and in some areas so much so that it is difficult to traverse if you are unfamiliar with the terrain.
Kamikaze no Kuni, The Land of Typhoons
The Land of Typhoons is smaller than the other major countries in terms of landmass but there are many small islands off the coast that are all a part of it as well. As the name suggests, massive oceanic storms rage off the coast quite frequently, sometimes even making their way inland. This is rare however. Typically their weather is unpredictable but the climate in the area is best described as tropical. Above average temperatures and long sunny days can be interrupted by powerful rainstorms that can last for weeks or months, depending on Mother Nature's mood.
In terms of geography, Kamikaze no Kuni is mostly made up of long sandy beaches, thick jungles, and many traditional settlements scattered across the mainland as well as the islands.
Netsu no Kuni, The Land of Heat
Netsu no Kuni is a massive desert located on the western side of the continent. Along the coasts some relief from the intense heat and dry climate can be found in the form of oasis. There are many of these, but can be difficult to find if you are unfamiliar with the landscape. Settlements tend to be built close to these oasis.
Besides the sweltering heat and constantly dry air, this country is also constantly plagued by vicious sandstorms. These storms are powerful and unpredictable and it makes travel in the country particularly difficult. The storms aren't the only thing that make this country difficult to explore. Deep canyons, endless sand dunes, and violent wildlife all make this country dangerous.
Tandora no Kuni, The Land of Tundras
Like the Land of Heat, Tandora no Kuni is one of the most dangerous countries on the continent. Located much farther north than any other country, the Land of Tundra is notorious for it's frigid temperatures and extreme weather. Nights are long and blizzards occur often. All of these factors as well as the frozen landscape make this country unforgiving to explorers who are ill prepared.
Kazan no Kuni, The Land of Volcanoes
The Land of Volcanoes is a relatively old country that formed around the base of a massive volcano. When this volcano erupted fifty years ago most of the villages and cities were completely destroyed and almost the entire human population was wiped out. Since this incident occurred the country has been dubbed "The Wastelands" and is generally avoided by humans who can't use chakra and shinobi alike. It is located in the western part of the continent but is landlocked between Netsu no Kuni and Seikatsu no Kuni. Very little is known about this country but there seem to be dangerous beasts that roam close to the volcano.
The weather and climate in the area are unpredictable and much of the landscape has been left charred and covered in molten rock and ash. There is a large forested portion of the country that wasn't destroyed by the country located far to the east. Remains of several settlements can be found, though most of the residents were killed in the blast and those that weren't have moved to other countries. This has left several ghosts towns within the country.

- City of Light - The City of Light is quite possibly the largest city on the continent. The population here is massive and very diverse. Cultural elements from all over the world can be discovered in this city. In terms of architecture and technology they are fairly modern and the residents live a well off life because of the wealth of their country.
On the surface the city is accepting of shinobi. No one is barred legally from doing anything within their walls. However the opinions of the people are very different from this. One of the most dominant clans in the region, the Ishiyama, has a particularly bloody past and this combined with a general distrust of the shinobi has led to most residents shunning them or actively discriminating against them. - Tengokugakure - The Village Hidden in the Heavens. This is the first official shinobi village to be recognized by their parent country. Founded by many clans in the area but spearheaded by the Ishiyama, it was built atop one of the largest mountains in the country. Nature and wildlife can be found for miles around the village, which sits beyond the cloud line, making it appear as though it is really sitting in the heavens.
Currently Tengokugakure is the largest unified shinobi force on the continent. The current leader of the Ishiyama clan, Kasumi Ishiyama, is the acting Shodai Sorakage for the village. - List item 3

- Nagamachi - The oldest standing village on the continent, Nagamachi is a very traditional city. Most of the residents here live according to how their ancestors felt they should live and because of this they shun most forms of technological advancement and innovation. They were also one of the few villages to still tell tales about the bijuu and the shinobi before the volcanic eruption. Because of this shinobi are welcomed with open arms in their village.
- Kaigangakure - The Village Hidden on the Coast is kind of an enigma. Following the creation of Tengokugakure there was pressure on the other shinobi clans across the continent to come together to form their own villages. The first to do this were the clans from Kamikaze no Kuni. The location by the beach that they chose for the village though was better suited to a resort than a shinobi village and this caused it to become a popular vacation spot for both shinobi and regular humans alike. Because a section of the village doubles as a resort the shinobi that belong to this village are typically regarded as lazy.

- Hateshiganai Rifts - Also commonly referred to as the "Valley of Death", the Rifts are an unique set of canyons in the Land of Heat. Earthquakes occur as often as every few days here and with these earthquakes comes a new layout to the canyons. The old cliffs and caves will crumble and new ones will be formed. Because of this the area has been deemed incredibly dangerous and normal humans are told to avoid them at all costs. Even shinobi steer clear as it is impossible to know when an earthquake will occur. No one knows exactly why the land here behaves the way it does, but it is rumoured that a bijuu is responsible.

All of these factors as well as the frozen landscape make this country unforgiving to explorers who are ill prepared.
- Frozen Pillars to Heaven - These ice fields have been constantly blasted by blizzards for the last fifty years. Recently pillars made out of solid ice have reached up into the clouds. Over the last couple decades thousands of these pillars have popped up and no one can explain why this is happening. Locals are blaming it on the reappearance of the bijuu but this has yet to be confirmed.
- Kōsetsushi - This is the largest city in Tandora no Kuni and is where over 80% of the country's population resides. Much of the city makes use of ice in its architecture. Large walls surround the city, displaying their general dislike of foreigners and travelers. At the heart of the city lies a massive palace, belonging to the royal family that rules over Tandora no Kuni. This family is accepting of any kind of power that they can use to protect the Land of Tundras and because of that shinobi are welcome both in the country as well as the city.

- Kakushin - Currently the last remaining city in the Land of Volcanoes, they survived by building their home deep underground. They are deep below the surface and fairly close to the base of the volcano as well. This city is unique in that they are more technologically advanced than the rest of the continent. The city runs on hydroelectricity and they use steam power to run their unique machines.
The residents of Kakushin are used to fighting the beasts in their territory but they avoid traveling to the surface if they don't have to. Because of this way of life they are unfamiliar with the outside world. Most residents believe that the rest of humanity perished when the volcano erupted above them. - List item 2
